:00:11. > :00:14.On the second day of their latest visit to Northern Ireland, the Queen

:00:15. > :00:17.and the Duke of Edinburgh were taken on a tour of the refurbished Crumlin

:00:18. > :00:21.Road Gaol in Belfast, the set of the TV series Game of Thrones and Saint

:00:22. > :00:24.George's Market in the city centre.

:00:25. > :00:28.The last time the Queen visited Belfast City Hall

:00:29. > :00:35.Today, she brought with her a message that

:00:36. > :00:38.trust, respect and justice should be the cornerstones of society.

:00:39. > :00:40.I know there are many challenges ahead and peacemaking

:00:41. > :00:49.But you have come this far by turning the impossible

:00:50. > :00:59.And as you face the future and difficulties that may appear

:01:00. > :01:04.insurmountable, always remember that the thoughts

:01:05. > :01:12.and prayers of millions, including my own, are with you.

:01:13. > :01:14.It was a busy day for the Royal couple.

:01:15. > :01:17.It started with a tour of Crumlin Road Gaol - the first time

:01:18. > :01:21.Although the First and Deputy First Ministers had both seen the inside

:01:22. > :01:48.Being here, the first time she has been a prison, some of the rest of

:01:49. > :01:50.us cannot say that, and I think it was a remarkable experience for her.

:01:51. > :01:53.From there, it was to the Titanic Quarter

:01:54. > :01:56.visit and to be told that Peter Lavery would open up the distillery

:01:57. > :01:58.here. It was very exciting. The Queen was shown

:01:59. > :02:00.the infamous Iron Throne from the series - a chair forged from

:02:01. > :02:03.the swords of 1000 defeated foes. In any case,

:02:04. > :02:05.the Queen looked but didn't sit. This was where the public got the

:02:06. > :02:17.chance to get close to the monarch. It was a special day

:02:18. > :02:20.for three-year-old Jack Morgan as he gave the Queen a present

:02:21. > :02:28.from one of the stalls. But not before one young man managed

:02:29. > :02:31.to get close enough to nab After lunch at City Hall,

:02:32. > :02:37.it was Hillsborough - the official residence of the Queen

:02:38. > :02:40.when in Northern Ireland. Here, the Royal couple hosted

:02:41. > :02:44.a garden party. And we'll have more coverage

:02:45. > :02:46.of the Royal visit tomorrow A 50-year-old woman has died

:02:47. > :02:53.after her car went off the road It happened a few miles out

:02:54. > :02:57.of the city on Fathom Line. Police and the coastguard were

:02:58. > :03:01.involved in the recovery operation. The woman who died was Patricia

:03:02. > :03:04.Campbell from the Newry area. Five men and one woman have been

:03:05. > :03:12.arrested in what's understood to be an investigation into paramilitary

:03:13. > :03:16.punishment type attacks. A number of homes in the west

:03:17. > :03:19.Belfast and Dunmurry areas were searched by the police in connection

:03:20. > :03:26.with dissident republican activity. A team in charge of a plan to build

:03:27. > :03:29.a new training college for the police, fire and prison

:03:30. > :03:34.services will next week recommend There's been a lot of speculation

:03:35. > :03:39.that the plan for Desertcreat, near Cookstown, first proposed ten

:03:40. > :03:42.years ago, would be scrapped Billed as one

:03:43. > :03:53.of the best police training colleges It was later changed to include

:03:54. > :03:59.the fire and prison services. A huge complex of accommodation for

:04:00. > :04:04.more than 300 people, 40 classrooms and purpose-built villages to train

:04:05. > :04:08.police officers and firemen in Instead, not a sod has been turned

:04:09. > :04:16.on the site at Desertcreat. The plan was put on hold in April

:04:17. > :04:20.when it was decided that the preferred bidder selected could

:04:21. > :04:22.not do so for the specified budget A board in charge

:04:23. > :04:29.of the project has spent the last There has been much speculation that

:04:30. > :04:36.the board would declare the project dead and recommend

:04:37. > :04:38.refurbishing existing training facilities or building a much

:04:39. > :04:44.smaller college at a new location. We understand that is not the

:04:45. > :04:47.case and that no other potential It is understood the board will tell

:04:48. > :04:57.the Justice Committee next week the Desertcreat project should

:04:58. > :04:59.continue. Escalating construction costs mean

:05:00. > :05:02.the estimated bill for building the college would be almost ?140

:05:03. > :05:06.million. That is ?26 million within allocated, so the board is revising

:05:07. > :05:11.the plan, making changes to the overall design, the number of

:05:12. > :05:17.buildings and construction materials used. Sources say more work is

:05:18. > :05:20.needed but they believe the project can be delivered close to

:05:21. > :05:28.the original budget. BBC Newsline has learned the

:05:29. > :05:30.Former Assistant Chief Constable, Duncan McCausland, was expected to

:05:31. > :05:33.be appointed chairman of But Mr McCausland has asked

:05:34. > :05:37.for a leave of absence pending the outcome of

:05:38. > :05:40.an investigation over the awarding The former officer, who was arrested

:05:41. > :05:44.and questioned by detectives last The Parades Commission is to review

:05:45. > :05:52.its decision on a contentious march The Orange Order had been granted

:05:53. > :05:58.permission to walk along Victoria The Parades Commission ruling has

:05:59. > :06:04.said this part of the route is Nationalists, including the

:06:05. > :06:09.Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition, have objected to the march,

:06:10. > :06:13.describing it as provocative. Unionists say that Victoria Terrace

:06:14. > :06:23.is not part of the Garvaghy Road. There are areas of Victoria Terrace,

:06:24. > :06:29.just off Castle Terrace, that are still full of Unionist families

:06:30. > :06:33.and who live there in peace. Even in the worst years, the

:06:34. > :06:36.barriers were much further back. There are people living on both

:06:37. > :06:39.sides and their help and safety is put at risk by this parade and any

:06:40. > :06:46.controversy that may surround it. A number of schools have been

:06:47. > :06:49.left with serious financial difficulties after only finding

:06:50. > :06:51.out yesterday about staff who Of 167 applications for voluntary

:06:52. > :06:59.redundancy, only 46 were granted. Another 28 met the criteria but were

:07:00. > :07:03.rejected because of a cash shortfall Bangor Grammar applied

:07:04. > :07:09.for two voluntary redundancies to It ticked all the boxes

:07:10. > :07:19.but was refused. We had been looking to ensure that

:07:20. > :07:27.we were not managing a bad situation and had hoped that these two

:07:28. > :07:30.redundancies would assist with that. The fact that neither have been

:07:31. > :07:32.granted means that we are in a difficult financial situation

:07:33. > :07:35.and we will be having a deficit Looking ahead to tomorrow's

:07:36. > :07:51.BBC Newsline - Imagine if you bought an apartment

:07:52. > :07:56.like one of these, you are living happily in it and then you had a

:07:57. > :08:01.bill through the door for ?7,000. For repairing a wall 100 yards away.

:08:02. > :08:06.That is what has happened to a group of 31 residents living in a

:08:07. > :08:10.development in West Belfast. One owner has been told he could lose

:08:11. > :08:15.his home if he does not pay. There is nothing they can do and I am not

:08:16. > :08:21.working at the moment, I don't have savings to pay for that. They are

:08:22. > :08:25.just saying, we are looking for ?7,000. I will have a special report

:08:26. > :08:27.on Good Morning Ulster in the morning and Newsline at 6:30 p.m..

:08:28. > :08:30.There's been a break in the dry weather today.

:08:31. > :08:36.Let's get the forecast with Cecilia Daly.

:08:37. > :08:43.There has been little rain in places and there will be rain tonight also.

:08:44. > :08:47.Hopefully nothing too heavy and with that dampness, it means a mild night

:08:48. > :08:51.to come with plenty of mist and low cloud over the hills as well. It

:08:52. > :08:55.will start off grey and murky and places tomorrow and there will be

:08:56. > :08:59.further splashes of rain on and off through the day. Rain is coming from

:09:00. > :09:04.the west and it looks like it will be more persistent across Western

:09:05. > :09:09.counties and some persistent bursts also towards the North Coast

:09:10. > :09:11.tomorrow and every move out, you can see this rain belonging to this

:09:12. > :09:17.weather front that is moving north through the rest of Scotland but to

:09:18. > :09:20.the South, 12 showers over the Republic of Ireland with

:09:21. > :09:25.temperatures at 22 degrees and for many parts of England and Wales, it

:09:26. > :09:30.will be dry with sunshine around and temperatures in the low 20s and a

:09:31. > :09:35.fine day at Wimbledon. 12 showers over South Wales and south-west

:09:36. > :09:39.England. Northern Ireland has a lot of cloud tomorrow, dab at times with

:09:40. > :09:43.rain on and off and because of that cloud, temperatures will not get

:09:44. > :09:47.higher than 16 or 17 degrees for most places. It could feel humid and

:09:48. > :09:52.muggy with a light breeze coming from the south-east. On Thursday,

:09:53. > :09:56.still some rain around in that southeasterly breeze, the rain

:09:57. > :09:58.cooling away so brightening up for the second half of the day with some

:09:59. > :10:03.brightness to come for Friday and Saturday but heavy showers also,

:10:04. > :10:07.There has been little rain in places and there will be rain tonight also.
