:00:00. > :00:00.for the patients of the future. That's all from us.
:00:00. > :00:10.The Taoiseach has described the controversy over the
:00:11. > :00:13.cancellation of country singer Garth Brooks' Dublin concerts at Croke
:00:14. > :00:17.Park as a shock to the economy and a great disappointment for his fans.
:00:18. > :00:19.Now attention is focusing on how to refund the hundreds
:00:20. > :00:41.Garth Brooks fans have ensured several anxious days but late this
:00:42. > :00:45.afternoon came the news they'd been dreading. All five concerts at
:00:46. > :00:50.Dublin's Croke park had been cancelled by the singer. Right up
:00:51. > :00:53.until today I genuinely thought it would go ahead. I thought there was
:00:54. > :00:59.so much money involved that there was no way a handful of residents
:01:00. > :01:03.could stop something going ahead. Such was the demand for tickets that
:01:04. > :01:08.eventually five shows went on sale, all of them sold out. But the
:01:09. > :01:12.tickets had gone on sale subject to licence. Dublin City Council were
:01:13. > :01:17.lobbied by concerned residents living around the venue who said an
:01:18. > :01:21.agreement that only three special events per year are licensed there
:01:22. > :01:26.was being breached. In the end, the Council stated that only three shows
:01:27. > :01:30.could go ahead after the singer said it was five or nothing. They went
:01:31. > :01:34.back to him and said he wouldn't accept three. They phoned me back
:01:35. > :01:38.and said we could have four. What is he supposed to think about the whole
:01:39. > :01:42.thing? He said it was five or nothing. They went from three to
:01:43. > :01:48.four and the next morning they phoned us back at one o'clock and
:01:49. > :01:51.they said it was three again. The controversy even reached the floor
:01:52. > :01:55.of the Irish parliament this afternoon. I'm sure this is a great
:01:56. > :02:01.disappointment to his many hundreds of thousands of fans here. It's a
:02:02. > :02:06.shock to the economy of this city and the reputation of our country.
:02:07. > :02:11.So what now for the 400,000 fans with tickets for a show which isn't
:02:12. > :02:15.going to happen? If you bought it from a reputable outlet, from a
:02:16. > :02:19.proper person running a concert in a normal manner, you should be quite
:02:20. > :02:23.safe to get all your money back. If you went on the black market or
:02:24. > :02:27.spoke to some very nice guy on the internet who sent you the tickets
:02:28. > :02:30.for cash, you're going to have to go back to that person, which is not
:02:31. > :02:35.the most optimistic of prospects. Details of what has been described
:02:36. > :02:37.as an unprecedented refunding operation are due to be announced
:02:38. > :02:39.tomorrow. A man and a woman have appeared in
:02:40. > :02:42.court in connection with the weekend The body of Owen Creaney who
:02:43. > :02:46.the police described as "frail and vulnerable" was found in a rubbish
:02:47. > :02:49.bin at a house in Craigavon. Gordon Adair was at Craigavon Court
:02:50. > :02:58.for BBC Newsline. Stephen Hughes, on the left, and
:02:59. > :03:03.Owen Creaney, at a party in Stephen Hughes's house on Wednesday. The
:03:04. > :03:10.police say that within hours of the photo being taken, Hughes and his
:03:11. > :03:15.co-accused attacked Owen Creaney so severely that he eventually died
:03:16. > :03:17.from his injuries. The police say the fatally injured victim was left
:03:18. > :03:23.in the house without medical attention for up two days. They
:03:24. > :03:27.believe he died on Friday night or early Saturday morning. Around
:03:28. > :03:33.lunchtime on Saturday, police relieved a tip-off that a man's body
:03:34. > :03:37.had been found in a house. Initial searches found nothing. Stephen
:03:38. > :03:42.Hughes and his co-accused each claim to the other was responsible for the
:03:43. > :03:45.killing in police interviews. At one point, information from the
:03:46. > :03:49.co-accused led to officers returning from the house, where they found the
:03:50. > :03:54.body of Owen Creaney hidden in a wheeled bin. Stephen Hughes did not
:03:55. > :03:58.apply for bail, while bail was refused for his co-accused. The
:03:59. > :04:01.court heard that she had a lengthy criminal record and had left the
:04:02. > :04:05.jurisdiction unlawfully while on bail for an earlier arson offence.
:04:06. > :04:08.Both will appear again here in Creigiau common later this month. --
:04:09. > :04:13.Craigavon. Stormont's ministers have called
:04:14. > :04:16.for all parades and protests over The appeal was made
:04:17. > :04:19.in a joint party statement issued after an Executive meeting
:04:20. > :04:21.at Stormont Castle this afternoon. Ministers discussed the
:04:22. > :04:23.Parades Commission's decision to prevent Orangemen returning past
:04:24. > :04:25.the Ardoyne shops in North Belfast Speaking afterwards, the First
:04:26. > :04:29.Minister Peter Robinson said he still wasn't prepared to reveal what
:04:30. > :04:44.the unionists' gradual response to You'll probably not have to long to
:04:45. > :04:47.wait for the next step to be announced and we'll do it according
:04:48. > :04:50.to our own timetable, our own agenda. We'll not be enticed by the
:04:51. > :04:53.questions before then. There have been more calls
:04:54. > :04:56.for the sexual abuse suffered by boys at a care home in east Belfast
:04:57. > :04:59.to be included in the independent investigations into historical abuse
:05:00. > :05:01.ordered by the Home Secretary. Theresa May says the review
:05:02. > :05:04.and inquiry will provide maximum transparency - including access to
:05:05. > :05:10.sensitive government files. The Kincora Boys' Home closed
:05:11. > :05:13.in 1980 and three members But allegations of involvement by
:05:14. > :05:34.the security services in covering up This is the former Kincora Boys'
:05:35. > :05:39.Home on the Newtownards Road in East Belfast. In the early 1980s, it was
:05:40. > :05:42.at the centre of a scandal which dated back years and rocked the
:05:43. > :05:46.political landscape in Northern Ireland. Free care workers at the
:05:47. > :05:52.home, including this man, William McGrath, were convicted of accusing
:05:53. > :05:59.boys. A leading Orangemen with links to political union losing and
:06:00. > :06:02.others, he allegedly also had links to the security services. This is
:06:03. > :06:08.the journalist who investigated the events there. The first
:06:09. > :06:13.investigation was blocked by MI5. MI5 had an interest and that was
:06:14. > :06:18.their agent William McGrath. They stopped British Army intelligence
:06:19. > :06:23.from reporting these matters to the police for investigation, so young
:06:24. > :06:28.men here were brutalised and raped and abused whilst MI5 sat on their
:06:29. > :06:33.hands and allowed it to go on. More than 30 years on, this remains a
:06:34. > :06:35.scandal that persists and will be examined by the historical
:06:36. > :06:43.institutional abuse inquiry set up by the Assembly. We welcome the
:06:44. > :06:47.inquiry but we would not unfortunately it does not have the
:06:48. > :06:50.powers to reach into secret service files in the way the inquiry
:06:51. > :06:54.announced by Theresa May yesterday will. She said it will be able to
:06:55. > :06:59.access whatever and wherever it needs to go and, if necessary, she
:07:00. > :07:03.will bring statutory powers to enable that. That's what we need to
:07:04. > :07:06.get to the bottom of this business. Theresa may have effectively
:07:07. > :07:09.launched two investigations, the first a review of how police and
:07:10. > :07:15.prosecutors dealt with allegations of child sex abuse. The other will
:07:16. > :07:19.be an in-depth inquiry. Both are at an early stage and it is unclear as
:07:20. > :07:21.to whether the abuse here at the former home at King Cora will
:07:22. > :07:26.actually feature. The Kincora Boys' Home was
:07:27. > :07:28.in East Belfast. The constituency's MP Naomi Long has
:07:29. > :07:30.also called for any inquiry or review ordered by
:07:31. > :07:41.Westminster to include that home. I believe it is important that that
:07:42. > :07:44.is properly investigated and thoroughly investigated and even the
:07:45. > :07:49.destruction of records in itself could point to whether or not there
:07:50. > :07:53.is substance to those allegations. So I think by including it in this
:07:54. > :07:57.inquiry we create some clarity around the situation but we also
:07:58. > :07:58.give the opportunity for the victims to talk openly and freshly about
:07:59. > :08:02.what has happened to them. And in football, Linfield are
:08:03. > :08:05.through to the next round of the Europa League after drawing
:08:06. > :08:07.1-1 with B36 Torshavn tonight. Michael Carvill put Linfield
:08:08. > :08:10.in front after 17 minutes in the second-leg tie. The team
:08:11. > :08:12.from the Faroe Islands equalised Linfield now face AIK Solna
:08:13. > :08:29.of Sweden in the second round. Now time for the weather.
:08:30. > :08:33.With the showers out of the way, things are bit more settled through
:08:34. > :08:36.the next 24 hours. We have a dry night coming up with a few clear
:08:37. > :08:45.spells and temperatures similar to last night in the towns. Some
:08:46. > :08:50.countryside but made it to seven or eight. Into tomorrow, the promise of
:08:51. > :08:54.a much better day for stopped a dry day with bright and sunny spells
:08:55. > :08:57.almost anywhere from the word go although there will be some patchy
:08:58. > :09:01.cloud. Similar across the Republic of Ireland, with some sunshine, as
:09:02. > :09:05.there will be across the rest of Britain. Quite warm sunshine by the
:09:06. > :09:10.afternoon with temperatures into the low 20s. The exception is likely to
:09:11. > :09:15.be the North Sea coast, particularly the east of the towards East Anglia.
:09:16. > :09:19.They have a noticeable northerly breeze, will have increasing cloud
:09:20. > :09:24.and some rain starting to the gym later on. Out towards the west of
:09:25. > :09:28.Ireland, a weather system starts to edge in later in the day,
:09:29. > :09:33.threatening rain. I don't think the rain will reach Northern Ireland in
:09:34. > :09:37.daylight hours but we will see increasing amounts of cloud across
:09:38. > :09:41.the West but a lot of it still fairly dry. There will be bright
:09:42. > :09:44.spells coming through. The best sunshine in the afternoon reserved
:09:45. > :09:48.for the north and east. The south-east could hit 19 or 20, the
:09:49. > :09:52.north coast a little fresher with the breeze. Into Thursday, a bit
:09:53. > :09:58.more cloud around, a bit of a damp start but hopefully the rain not
:09:59. > :10:01.amounting to two much at all. That's it from me. Good night, sleep
