:00:00. > :00:09.The Secretary of State and the Parades Commission have

:00:10. > :00:11.both commended efforts which ensured yesterday's Orange Order

:00:12. > :00:17.There had been fears of a repeat of the serious violence

:00:18. > :00:19.of last year when a parade was prevented from passing

:00:20. > :00:37.Our Home Affairs correspondent Vincent Kearney reports.

:00:38. > :00:50.12 months ago, violence erupted when and Orange Order parades was

:00:51. > :00:53.prevented from passing. Yesterday, the attitude and approach were very

:00:54. > :00:59.different. The police are wrecked did a steel barrier across the

:01:00. > :01:04.Woodfield Road. Officers in riot gear were there if needed, but just

:01:05. > :01:17.nine in high visibility jackets stood on the front line. A few

:01:18. > :01:26.minutes later, the North Belfast parade arrived and stop that the

:01:27. > :01:28.line. As leaders prepared to address the crowd, it was clear that not

:01:29. > :01:34.everybody was happy with their attack ticks. The Deputy Grand

:01:35. > :01:39.Master of Belfast then read a statement. The tide is turning. Far

:01:40. > :01:44.from going away, we are preparing to enhance our campaign. Our efforts

:01:45. > :01:50.are being redoubled politically and through further peaceful and joyful

:01:51. > :02:01.-- lawful means. We move forward together a stronger. As requested,

:02:02. > :02:04.those in the parade and their supporters then turned and walked

:02:05. > :02:18.back down the road, away from police lines. Some made it clear they were

:02:19. > :02:24.not happy. You need to tell Peter Robinson....

:02:25. > :02:33.After a the crowds dispersed, Unionist politician said the

:02:34. > :02:39.campaign to ensure the North Belfast lodgers to complete their parades

:02:40. > :02:46.would continue. I want to commend the local community, the local

:02:47. > :02:49.lodgers, the Orange Order, who have come together to provide the

:02:50. > :02:53.leadership that has resulted in a day that I believe marks a watershed

:02:54. > :03:01.in terms of this campaign to restore the lawful rights of the Orange

:03:02. > :03:04.Order of Ligoniel. This is the will of the unionist people. We will move

:03:05. > :03:11.onto the next part and that be peaceful and lawful. One year ago

:03:12. > :03:15.this would have been unthinkable. Just 60 minutes after the parade

:03:16. > :03:20.arrived, the police are already dismantling the barrier. The crowd

:03:21. > :03:24.had dispersed without a single stone having been through. 900 police

:03:25. > :03:26.officers were deployed in north Belfast yesterday. The Chief

:03:27. > :03:30.Constable has welcomed the fact they were not needed.

:03:31. > :03:32.Tributes have been paid to the Presbyterian minister who died

:03:33. > :03:35.after getting into difficulties while diving in County Donegal.

:03:36. > :03:36.Married father-of-three, the Reverend Dr Stewart Jones

:03:37. > :03:38.of Donemana Presbyterian Church, was airlifted to

:03:39. > :03:58.The quiet village of Donemana is in mourning. Reverend Dr Stewart Jones

:03:59. > :04:04.served this church for a decade. He was also a chaplain at Alba Galvan

:04:05. > :04:07.hospital. This morning his congregation sought comfort here as

:04:08. > :04:11.they gathered to remember him. Reverend Dr Stewart Jones was an

:04:12. > :04:15.experienced diver and diving instructor, but he was also a

:04:16. > :04:21.husband, father and grandfather. The community here say they will -- he

:04:22. > :04:29.will be sorely missed. Terrible shock when I found out. The phone

:04:30. > :04:39.rang all night from 9pm onwards. It was all go. The congregation are

:04:40. > :04:44.devastated because of this. Stewart Jones played a huge part in the life

:04:45. > :04:49.of the village. The moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland said

:04:50. > :04:53.Reverend Dr Stewart Jones served his congregation is with great

:04:54. > :04:57.enthusiasm and complete dedication. His funeral will be held later this

:04:58. > :05:00.week in the church he gave so much to.

:05:01. > :05:03.A memorial to three Scottish soldiers murdered by the IRA in

:05:04. > :05:05.North Belfast in 1971 has been vandalised. Paint was thrown over

:05:06. > :05:08.the monument at White Brae, off the Ligoneil Road. The police are

:05:09. > :05:11.treating the incident as a sectarian hate crime. It's the 11th time the

:05:12. > :05:19.memorial has been attacked in recent years.

:05:20. > :05:21.A 19-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion

:05:22. > :05:22.of drugs-trafficking and money-laundering offences.

:05:23. > :05:24.She is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

:05:25. > :05:27.She was arrested in London yesterday by members of the PSNI

:05:28. > :05:38.GAA now and in today's All-Ireland qualifiers, Armagh beat rivals

:05:39. > :05:41.Tyrone by 13 points to 10 at Healy Park in Omagh, while Down

:05:42. > :05:49.crashed out after losing 1-18 to 11 points to Kildare in Newry.
