:00:00. > :00:15.The energy firm SSE Airtricity is creating 143 new jobs in Belfast

:00:16. > :00:18.with an expansion of its customer services centre. At one point it had

:00:19. > :00:22.been feared the company would relocate all its jobs in Belfast to

:00:23. > :00:24.Dublin. But as our Economics and Business Editor John Campbell

:00:25. > :00:34.SSE's businesses include wind farms, gas and electricity supply.

:00:35. > :00:36.It currently has 98 customer service staff,

:00:37. > :00:42.It is going to consolidate into one office in the city centre

:00:43. > :00:47.The expansion is being supported with Invest NI grants

:00:48. > :00:56.As in a lot of cases, we do compete internationally.

:00:57. > :00:58.In this case, it was a project that could have

:00:59. > :01:02.We are delighted that not only have we secured 90 jobs, but

:01:03. > :01:10.developing a centre of excellence here that will employ 250 people.

:01:11. > :01:14.It was hard fought and we are delighted to see it.

:01:15. > :01:16.The managing director says the quality

:01:17. > :01:25.It is important to stabilise roles for the future.

:01:26. > :01:28.The announcement today is for an additional 143.

:01:29. > :01:33.We can attract and employ great people.

:01:34. > :01:35.There are really talented people in Northern Ireland.

:01:36. > :01:43.The SSE staff will move to offices here on Great Victoria Street

:01:44. > :01:46.New rules limiting grant aid for job creation have now been

:01:47. > :01:50.The Enterprise says that means being more creative when comes

:01:51. > :01:54.We have to look for new inward investors and look at different ways

:01:55. > :01:56.of helping companies invest in Northern Ireland whether it is

:01:57. > :01:59.through skills development or three research and development. We should

:02:00. > :02:01.increase the spend on research and development because it leads to new

:02:02. > :02:09.products and processes and that leads to more jobs in the future.

:02:10. > :02:15.With the economy here and elsewhere still showing signs of

:02:16. > :02:18.recovery, there could be more good news on the jobs front

:02:19. > :02:29.And in another hopeful economic development for Belfast, planning

:02:30. > :02:32.approval has been granted for two new film studios in Titanic Quarter.

:02:33. > :02:35.The ?14 million development will almost double the existing

:02:36. > :02:43.production space at Titanic Studios where the popular fantasy drama Game

:02:44. > :02:44.of Thrones is shot. Granting

:02:45. > :02:49.Minister Mark H Durkan said building the studios would put Belfast on the

:02:50. > :02:57.map as one of Europe's largest film production locations.

:02:58. > :03:00.As many as 200 staff who were employed at the DVA in Coleraine are

:03:01. > :03:03.to be offered voluntary redundancy after efforts to redeploy them

:03:04. > :03:08.The DVA had previously said a redundancy scheme

:03:09. > :03:11.300 people in all lost their jobs when services

:03:12. > :03:14.The trade union NIPSA said it was

:03:15. > :03:24."extremely concerned" at the redundancy development.

:03:25. > :03:26.There's a security alert at a graveyard in Coleraine.

:03:27. > :03:30.the discovery of a suspicious object by a grave digger in the cemetery of

:03:31. > :03:32.St John's Catholic Church on Laurelhill Road.

:03:33. > :03:36.put in place around the church and the Army is at the scene.

:03:37. > :03:39.A plaque marking the birthplace of an Israeli President has been taken

:03:40. > :03:41.down in north Belfast following a series of attacks.

:03:42. > :03:47.commemorative plaque had to be removed out of concern for residents

:03:48. > :03:56.living nearby. Martin Cassidy reports.

:03:57. > :04:03.This house in north Belfast hardly looks presidential but almost 100

:04:04. > :04:09.years ago, a man who would have a major influence in the world was

:04:10. > :04:14.born here. Chaim Herzog was president of Israel for ten years

:04:15. > :04:20.beginning in 1983. But he wasn't born in the middle east. In fact his

:04:21. > :04:25.birthplace was this house in North Belfast - a fact commemorated by the

:04:26. > :04:31.Ulster History Circle when they put up a plaque in 1988. This is how it

:04:32. > :04:35.looked, but following recent attacks including an tie is really graffiti,

:04:36. > :04:39.the plaque has been taken down for the foreseeable future. It is quite

:04:40. > :04:45.shocking that a blue plaque would have to be removed because of

:04:46. > :04:48.intolerance said that I feel it is a wake-up call for people to realise

:04:49. > :04:54.the strength of feeling that there is and the intimidation which is

:04:55. > :04:59.felt by many people who are Israeli and Jewish in Belfast, that even an

:05:00. > :05:05.historic plaque has been targeted and has had to be removed because of

:05:06. > :05:09.the attacks against the property. It had been in place for more than 25

:05:10. > :05:13.years. At this stage it is not clear if or when it will be back.

:05:14. > :05:16.The DUP has accused the Environment Minister of letting his prejudices

:05:17. > :05:18.stand in the way of hundreds of millions of pounds of potential

:05:19. > :05:22.It followed the decision by the SDLP's Mark H Durkan to block

:05:23. > :05:24.plans for exploratory drilling for gas in Fermanagh.

:05:25. > :05:28.backed the Minister but the DUP's Sammy Wilson has criticised the

:05:29. > :05:39.decision claiming it's a major opportunity missed.

:05:40. > :05:44.It informs companies who want to investigate the possibility of shale

:05:45. > :05:47.gas in Northern Ireland that we are not open for business, that the

:05:48. > :05:51.Planning Minister will do his darndest to make sure they do not

:05:52. > :05:56.get permission and I think the result of that will be that we will

:05:57. > :06:00.lose thousands of jobs, hundreds of millions of pounds worth of

:06:01. > :06:07.investment, and a secure source of local energy which in any other

:06:08. > :06:12.sensible administration we would be tapping into. I think it is right we

:06:13. > :06:16.take a precautionary approach. The gas is not going anywhere. We should

:06:17. > :06:19.not rush into things. If any damage is done in my not be possible to

:06:20. > :06:20.rectify it. Well, it's meant to be the beautiful

:06:21. > :06:23.game, but stray footballs have left the Guildhall in Londonderry with an

:06:24. > :06:26.ugly bill to fix smashed windows. Over the summer, Derry City Council

:06:27. > :06:29.has spent thousands of pounds repairing damage caused by children

:06:30. > :06:34.having a kick about in the recently Now the police

:06:35. > :06:37.have stepped in to show young people playing ball doesn't have to come at

:06:38. > :06:42.a cost. Nicola Weir reports. It's a large open space - perfect

:06:43. > :06:46.for a quick game of football. But last week, a third window

:06:47. > :06:49.in the Guildhall was broken. It's believed the damage was caused

:06:50. > :06:52.accidentally by children playing ball outside -

:06:53. > :06:55.but it's left the council facing a repair bill

:06:56. > :06:59.of over ?10,000. So the police have

:07:00. > :07:03.come up with this... We have got this caged

:07:04. > :07:06.football setup. It is in response to a number

:07:07. > :07:09.of damages which have occurred We are just here to have a bit of

:07:10. > :07:15.fun, get in football enthusiasts and get them some guidance as to where

:07:16. > :07:27.is the best place to play football. A section of

:07:28. > :07:29.the square has now been transformed into a caged football arena - safe

:07:30. > :07:32.for players and safe for windows. The event's called It's Not How

:07:33. > :07:35.You Kick It, It's Where You Kick. It's hoped it will encourage young

:07:36. > :07:38.people to find more suitable places Open green areas, away from windows,

:07:39. > :07:42.away from property like cars That is the message we are

:07:43. > :07:47.trying to get across. Hopefully we will have fun

:07:48. > :07:49.in the process. Parents say it's an initiative that

:07:50. > :07:54.could be used by community groups. We need to look at local communities

:07:55. > :07:57.and see where kids can play In football, accidents do happen and

:07:58. > :08:07.it costs money to repair damage. Plenty of fancy footwork on show -

:08:08. > :08:26.but this time without the Guildhall Now, the weather.

:08:27. > :08:31.For the rest of the week it is going to be a case of looking for the

:08:32. > :08:35.sunglasses or the umbrella. It will be a bag. We have a few showers

:08:36. > :08:40.which will give way to drier weather for a while. Surely the early hours

:08:41. > :08:45.of Wednesday morning rain sinking southwards. -- during. Temperatures

:08:46. > :08:49.no lower than 12 or 13 degrees. Cloud around if you're hoping to

:08:50. > :08:55.catch a glimpse of the meteors, hopefully you will get some breaks

:08:56. > :09:00.in it. Tomorrow, deja vu. Scattered showers but not as many as today.

:09:01. > :09:05.Brighter spells. Showers first thing giving way to sunshine. By

:09:06. > :09:08.mid-morning showery rain coming across Tyrone and Fermanagh. Fishing

:09:09. > :09:13.eastwards during the morning here in the east Coast by lunch time. Across

:09:14. > :09:17.Ireland and Britain tomorrow is a mixed bag. We still have the Carrick

:09:18. > :09:23.in towards the north-east giving us some strong winds towards the north.

:09:24. > :09:29.Further south it is a day of dry and sunny spells but also the risk of

:09:30. > :09:32.scattered showers. Out and about across Northern Ireland tomorrow

:09:33. > :09:36.afternoon, many of us will enjoy some drier periods and some sunshine

:09:37. > :09:40.but the north-westerly wind will make it feel fresh and autumnal,

:09:41. > :09:48.especially towards the north coast. Inland, 18 or 19 degrees in the

:09:49. > :09:51.sunshine. Snow -- slow-moving showers in the forecast for

:09:52. > :09:54.Thursday. Brighter spells in between. Gradually improving towards

:09:55. > :09:59.a weekend but always the risk of a few showers.

:10:00. > :10:01.You can keep up to date with news online. From all of us, good night.

:10:02. > :10:03.Thanks for watching.
