:00:00. > :00:09.points and their mood is considerably darker

:00:10. > :00:14.A man who escaped injury in an arson attack on his Armagh home

:00:15. > :00:17.has described it as attempted murder.

:00:18. > :00:20.The man's pregnant wife wasn't in the house at the time

:00:21. > :00:23.of the attack in Mullacreevie Park in the early hours of this morning.

:00:24. > :00:25.The fire service helped to put out the blaze

:00:26. > :00:28.and the police are investigating the incident.

:00:29. > :00:43.Louis O'Neill surveying the damage to his home, amazed he escaped

:00:44. > :00:48.injury. He was upstairs when the attack happened. He was unaware the

:00:49. > :00:52.outside of his home was on fire and that the blaze was spreading

:00:53. > :00:58.inside. Smoke was billowing into the house. The intensity of the fire is

:00:59. > :01:04.evident from the damage to the front of the house. A lot of things

:01:05. > :01:09.happened that saved his life, his dog started barking, the neighbours

:01:10. > :01:15.raised the alarm and he got out in time. If I hadn't had the inside

:01:16. > :01:21.door close, I probably would not be standing here. I would have been

:01:22. > :01:29.overcome by fumes. The hallway is completely black. Today, the

:01:30. > :01:35.neighbourhood was quiet as friends came to help. He and his wife are

:01:36. > :01:43.expecting a baby in a few weeks, she was away at the time. This is

:01:44. > :01:49.attempted murder. If someone came to my door and try to talk to my house

:01:50. > :01:57.with me and whoever castles in the house inside, they were trying to

:01:58. > :02:02.kill me. He says he has no idea why his home was targeted. He is just

:02:03. > :02:08.relieved there was no loss of life in the attack.

:02:09. > :02:10.Three men arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempting to murder

:02:11. > :02:12.a high-profile loyalist in North Belfast earlier this month have been

:02:13. > :02:15.released pending a report being sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

:02:16. > :02:17.The men were questioned in connection with a gun attack

:02:18. > :02:20.on John Boreland in Carr's Glen Park on the 20th of August.

:02:21. > :02:26.while fellow loyalist Andre Shoukri escaped injury.

:02:27. > :02:28.A local solicitor says a report that a Garda officer

:02:29. > :02:31.passed information to the IRA about two dissident republicans in custody

:02:32. > :02:36.The Republic's Justice minister Frances Fitzgerald has asked

:02:37. > :02:41.the Acting Garda Commissioner for a report into the matter,

:02:42. > :02:44.which is said to have happened last year.

:02:45. > :02:45.Solicitor John McBurney, who represented the family

:02:46. > :02:48.of murdered RUC Chief Superintendent Harry Breen

:02:49. > :02:51.at the Smithwick Tribunal into Garda collusion,

:02:52. > :03:03.Minister Fitzgerald has indicated that there is a criminal

:03:04. > :03:11.investigation ongoing in relation to the matter that will take its

:03:12. > :03:16.course. That will be important. I think the concern is wide as to what

:03:17. > :03:20.is being done to ascertain how many other similar incidents may have

:03:21. > :03:23.occurred, not just in recent months but in the recent past and in the

:03:24. > :03:34.mod -- the more distant past. A day of commemoration

:03:35. > :03:36.has been taking place in Bellaghy in county Londonderry in memory

:03:37. > :03:39.of Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney The poet was born in the village

:03:40. > :03:47.and is buried there. Family, friends and people from the

:03:48. > :04:06.area came to his grave to hear his poems. The perimeter barbed wire,

:04:07. > :04:14.forgotten. I remembered her head towards my head, never closer.

:04:15. > :04:21.They read was laid on his grave to mark the occasion. It is good to

:04:22. > :04:32.come in memory of such a brilliant artist, poet and person. I can't

:04:33. > :04:39.believe it has been a year. Just to be here and express their

:04:40. > :04:48.appreciation, it still touches people deeply. After the readings, a

:04:49. > :04:52.walk back into the village for an afternoon and evening of music.

:04:53. > :04:54.And now here's Barra Best with the weather forecast

:04:55. > :05:05.We have had a few showers today. One or two will continue through this

:05:06. > :05:08.evening but not for everyone. Most of us will end on a drying out. It

:05:09. > :05:11.will be largely dry through the night as well. Not especially

:05:12. > :05:16.chilly, temperatures between ten and 12 degrees. A lot of dry weather,

:05:17. > :05:21.that will stay with us, getting off with a pleasant and bright start.

:05:22. > :05:25.Through the day, it is good to turn more unsettled. To begin with,

:05:26. > :05:28.they'll be a fair and that of sunshine. That last for quite a

:05:29. > :05:32.while along Eastern counties before the cloud rolls in from the west. It

:05:33. > :05:37.is courtesy of a week weather front coming from the Atlantic. There will

:05:38. > :05:41.be some showery outbreaks, with stronger winds as well as it heads

:05:42. > :05:43.eastwards. It is not a bad picture across Britain, the best of the

:05:44. > :05:46.sunshine across parts of Scotland, one was the south-east with

:05:47. > :05:51.temperatures getting into the low 20s. For Northern Ireland, in the

:05:52. > :05:55.afternoon, they'll be outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. In between,

:05:56. > :06:02.it will write not in one or two places. Despite it being rather

:06:03. > :06:05.breezy, temperatures will reach 1819 Celsius. That weather Will Claye

:06:06. > :06:10.into Monday. It will be a drier and brighter day. There will be cloud

:06:11. > :06:14.around but spells of sunshine as well. North-westerly winds and

:06:15. > :06:18.temperatures reach 17 or 18 degrees. The good news is, as we look towards

:06:19. > :06:20.the rest of next week, a lot of settled weather to come with

:06:21. > :06:24.virtually no rain in the forecast. It looks as though it will turn

:06:25. > :06:26.warmer as well by the middle of the week.
