:00:00. > :00:09.A former member of the Parachute Regiment who was arrested

:00:10. > :00:12.by police investigating the Bloody Sunday shootings has been released

:00:13. > :00:18.The man was detained in Northern Ireland just yesterday morning.

:00:19. > :00:20.I'm joined from the newsroom by our reporter Maggie Taggart.

:00:21. > :00:24.We learnt yesterday that a 66-year-old former soldier had

:00:25. > :00:26.been taken in for questioning by the police in County Antrim

:00:27. > :00:30.about the murder of three civil rights protesters in Londonderry.

:00:31. > :00:33.13 people were killed on Bloody Sunday in 1972 after the army

:00:34. > :00:39.opened fire on crowds of protesters in the Bogside in Londonderry.

:00:40. > :00:41.It is understood this soldier was one

:00:42. > :00:43.of those who gave evidence to the Saville Inquiry into the killings.

:00:44. > :00:46.Five years ago, in 2010, the Prime Minister apologised

:00:47. > :00:51.and said none of those who died had been posing a threat.

:00:52. > :00:53.At the time, police said a murder enquiry was underway.

:00:54. > :01:00.Families say the police told them they had eight suspects.

:01:01. > :01:03.The first arrest, a 66-year-old former member of the Parachute

:01:04. > :01:06.Regiment, was taken from his home in County Antrim and questioned

:01:07. > :01:09.in a Belfast police station about the death of John Young,

:01:10. > :01:17.The arrest was welcomed by families, who have been complaining

:01:18. > :01:20.about the slow progress of the police investigation.

:01:21. > :01:23.Now we learn that the former soldier has been released,

:01:24. > :01:31.The mother of an eight-year-old boy killed while walking to catch the

:01:32. > :01:35.school bus a year ago today says she still blames the Education Board.

:01:36. > :01:38.Adam Gilmour's mum, Sarah, and brothers and sisters were also

:01:39. > :01:43.Today, the education authority said its thoughts were with the family

:01:44. > :01:47.circle on the first anniversary of his sad and tragic death.

:01:48. > :01:50.Since Adam died, the family have moved from the house.

:01:51. > :02:08.A year on, with heavy hearts and still consumed by grief. Hammam,

:02:09. > :02:13.dad, granny and ant what the short distance to the scene of the

:02:14. > :02:18.horrific crash that claimed the life of eight-year-old Adam. The physical

:02:19. > :02:22.injuries are still there, too. Adam's mum and brothers were also

:02:23. > :02:28.badly hurt, but every day the family deal with the brutal reality that he

:02:29. > :02:37.is gone. The kids are all finding it really hard. I would say mostly Kyle

:02:38. > :02:42.and Rhys. Kyle is lost without him. Him and Adam were together doing

:02:43. > :02:47.everything. Rees sort of stopped speaking, he still speaks, but not

:02:48. > :02:52.very much. He is very quiet and withdrawn. Sarah had worn the

:02:53. > :02:57.education authorities that the walk to the bus stop was not safe. There

:02:58. > :03:00.was no footpath for part of it and it was on a bad end, but even she

:03:01. > :03:07.could not have imagined that are worst fears would be realised. I

:03:08. > :03:13.went to Jim Allister and said to him I need your help, I can't get this

:03:14. > :03:17.bus. It is not the distance, I am not complaining about that. I said

:03:18. > :03:21.to him one morning we will get skittled, but I never thought to

:03:22. > :03:25.three weeks later it would happen, never. They had done what I had for

:03:26. > :03:31.Adam would be at school and everything would be fine. So, I say

:03:32. > :03:36.it again, I hold them responsible for what happened. Here in his

:03:37. > :03:42.granny's guard and his brothers and sisters have planted a little

:03:43. > :03:48.memorial garden. Should I live to be a hundred, that scene will never

:03:49. > :03:57.leave, never. School bags and shoes and coats lying across the road. We

:03:58. > :04:02.baby's buddies, twisted and useless. For everyone who loved

:04:03. > :04:06.Adam, today is just as difficult as every other day they have had to

:04:07. > :04:10.MLAs from all parties have joined in an act of remembrance at Stormont

:04:11. > :04:12.to mark Armistice Day, but nationalists and the Alliance Party

:04:13. > :04:15.say they're disappointed at an impromptu singing of the national

:04:16. > :04:19.This report by our political correspondent

:04:20. > :04:28.Chris Page begins with the Assembly Speaker, Mitchel McLaughlin.

:04:29. > :04:37.At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

:04:38. > :04:41.Stormont's first Republican speaker joined with his deputies in leading

:04:42. > :04:47.the Assembly's act of remembrance. MLAs from all parties joined in the

:04:48. > :04:56.silence at 11 o'clock. The national anthem was not on the programme but

:04:57. > :05:05.as the event ended, this happen. SINGING..

:05:06. > :05:11.Most unionists seem to join in the spontaneous rendition of God Save

:05:12. > :05:16.The Queen. Sinn Fein said it was not in the spirit of the occasion. It

:05:17. > :05:21.was inclusive. There was no music, no anthems. It was scripture and

:05:22. > :05:26.poetry that was read out. It comprised of Members of the Assembly

:05:27. > :05:32.from all backgrounds. I just felt it was very disappointing that someone

:05:33. > :05:38.decided, forward ever reason, to pull a stunt at the end. The SDLP

:05:39. > :05:45.saw it -- said it was unfortunate. The Alliance said it was a moving of

:05:46. > :05:54.them but some people thought otherwise. I don't see why anybody

:05:55. > :05:58.should be offended I have this year. If you watch a recording of what

:05:59. > :06:02.took place, the vast majority of people who attended obviously felt

:06:03. > :06:06.that we should have been singing the national anthem as well because they

:06:07. > :06:09.joined in with me. I always on the national anthem and it is part of

:06:10. > :06:14.the normal remembrance service, therefore I think it is normal that

:06:15. > :06:18.it was sung today. I welcome the fact that we had people from all

:06:19. > :06:24.parties. I think that is a step forward. The Ulster Unionist leader

:06:25. > :06:31.spoke to Martin McGuinness after the ceremony and apologised for what he

:06:32. > :06:34.called a stunt. The national anthem in my opinion should be part of the

:06:35. > :06:39.ceremony but everybody should know that it is part of the ceremony. I

:06:40. > :06:43.don't think it is good that people feel ambushed and embarrassed. I

:06:44. > :06:47.would not like that to happen to me. As he worked through this decade,

:06:48. > :06:55.there should be no surprises. Tonight, the lighting at Parliament

:06:56. > :06:59.buildings reflects remembrance. There is more consensus around

:07:00. > :07:03.commemoration now than there has been in the past, but today's and

:07:04. > :07:06.then show there are still contentious issues.

:07:07. > :07:08.Almost another 200 jobs are being lost at manufacturing companies.

:07:09. > :07:11.100 of them will be at Caterpillar which has facilities in Larne,

:07:12. > :07:15.Another 40 jobs are to go at Londonderry textile firm Invista.

:07:16. > :07:17.In Carrickfergus, Schrader Electronics said it was ending the

:07:18. > :07:29.The Fire Service say it could be several days before they can

:07:30. > :07:31.establish the cause of a blaze at a disused recycling plant

:07:32. > :07:35.It's thought the site at Maydown contained thousands of tonnes

:07:36. > :07:39.Almost 50 firefighters were deployed and people living nearby were urged

:07:40. > :07:46.to keep their doors and windows closed.

:07:47. > :07:49.A twilight market in Belfast city centre tonight has drawn large

:07:50. > :07:52.crowds to the free event featuring top chefs and local food companies.

:07:53. > :07:55.It may have been the first evening opening for the St George's Food

:07:56. > :07:58.Market, but lots of people were eager to sample it and hundreds

:07:59. > :08:02.They were treated to an array of artisan foods, pop up

:08:03. > :08:04.restaurants, food tastings and chef demonstrations showcasing the city's

:08:05. > :08:16.The weather forecast now with Angie Philips.

:08:17. > :08:22.Good evening. Storm Abigail is still developing out in the Atlantic and

:08:23. > :08:27.it will be deepening, moving in towards the north-west of the Duce

:08:28. > :08:33.to bring a wild spell. The night in comparison is quite tame. Sure I

:08:34. > :08:37.read rain clearing away the Leeds dries spells. Quite cool, six or

:08:38. > :08:41.seven in the towns, Laura in the countryside. Heading into tomorrow,

:08:42. > :08:46.this is the deepening gloom that is Abigail that will bring Stormy

:08:47. > :08:49.weather across parts of northern and western Scotland, but even here in

:08:50. > :08:54.Northern Ireland we will see strong winds developing. We have rain in

:08:55. > :09:03.the forecast, as well begin with as it is mainly dry start. Already, the

:09:04. > :09:05.southerly wind picking up. Mainly dry and bright across much of

:09:06. > :09:09.England and Wales, Easter in Scotland, though eventually we will

:09:10. > :09:14.start to see the cloud moving its way used it in the afternoon. Still

:09:15. > :09:20.mild in the south of 16 degrees. You can see the weather front bringing

:09:21. > :09:25.heavy spells of rain. In the West of Scotland is where we could see the

:09:26. > :09:28.disruptive wind tomorrow night. In Northern Ireland, we will have dual

:09:29. > :09:30.Force twins initially from the south, but they will change

:09:31. > :09:37.direction behind that weather front. It is tomorrow evening when

:09:38. > :09:43.we could see the highest wind dust with plenty of showers rattling

:09:44. > :09:46.through, just south to 60 mph. Still blustery in the Friday and colder

:09:47. > :09:51.with the wind chill, showers which could be wintry on the Hill, and
