:01:36. > :01:37.then did not intervene to stop the attack.

:01:38. > :01:39.But the Police Ombudsman Doctor Michael Maguire says

:01:40. > :01:51.a detailed investigation found no evidence to support those claims.

:01:52. > :01:54.The responsibility for Mr McDaid in my view rests only with those

:01:55. > :02:04.We found no evidence the police inflamed the incident

:02:20. > :02:25.But some are still questioning the police response on that day.

:02:26. > :02:31.This was a very serious attack on a Catholic area that was left

:02:32. > :02:37.defenceless and the police presence on the ground at that moment

:02:38. > :02:40.in time was completely inadequate and that is not mentioned in the

:02:48. > :02:49.Stormont tonight for more talks with the Secretary

:02:50. > :02:56.Earlier the First and Deputy First Ministers said that

:02:57. > :02:59.a north-south meeting due to take place in Armagh tomorrow had been

:03:00. > :03:01.postponed, to allow the political talks to reach a conclusion.

:03:02. > :03:03.It's fuelled speculation that a deal might be announced

:03:04. > :03:07.Speaking at Stormont earlier today, Charlie Flanagan was upbeat

:03:08. > :03:21.It is possible to carve a breakthrough and I am encouraging

:03:22. > :03:24.all parties round the table to gear themselves towards finally reaching

:03:25. > :03:26.a conclusion on these most important matters.

:03:27. > :03:29.The Royal British legion say the singing of the national anthem

:03:30. > :03:34.is not compulsory at Remembrance Day services, in spite of

:03:35. > :03:37.complaints from some Unionists that it wasn't sung at Stormont yesterday

:03:38. > :03:40.BBC Newsline's Mark Simpson has been talking to politicians

:03:41. > :03:48.on both sides of the divide about the anthem issue.

:04:28. > :04:30.Yesterday was bad for the Assembly, for our politics,

:04:31. > :04:32.our community relations and we learned

:04:33. > :04:35.the lesson we don't try and impose something on the other side.

:04:36. > :04:39.At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

:04:40. > :04:41.Looking back at the footage today, this former soldier

:04:42. > :04:45.turned politician says what happened yesterday was highly significant.

:04:46. > :04:48.You can argue whether or not the national anthem should or

:04:49. > :05:00.shouldn't have been on the order of service, but if people really

:05:01. > :05:06.look at this, Mitchel McLaughlin of Sinn Fein did the exortation.

:05:07. > :05:10.When would we ever believe that somebody from Sinn Fein would

:05:11. > :05:21.When they started singing the national anthem, Martin McGuinness

:05:22. > :05:25.Should the national anthem have been on the official order of service?

:05:26. > :05:28.In a statement today, the Royal British Legion said:

:05:29. > :05:30.But the man who started the singing yesterday said it has

:05:31. > :05:33.been sung before at Stormont and should be sang again.

:05:34. > :05:40.If Sinn Fein want to attend the event that is up to them, but there

:05:41. > :05:43.should be absolutely no change to the format in order to accommodate

:05:44. > :05:49.Any regrets about what you did yesterday?

:05:50. > :05:53.They may have been divided over the anthem but there was common

:05:54. > :05:58.ground between all parties when it came to remembrance.

:05:59. > :06:10.There will be more on that story in the few right after bulletin. -- in

:06:11. > :06:14.The View. One of Northern Ireland's biggest

:06:15. > :06:16.employers is asking Workers at the Canadian-owned

:06:17. > :06:20.aerospace giant Bombardier have been told that savings are critical to

:06:21. > :06:21.its survival. It has five factories

:06:22. > :06:24.in greater Belfast and Newtownards. Our business correspondent

:06:25. > :06:32.Julian O'Neill reports Worrying times at one of our oldest

:06:33. > :06:36.and most significant employers. The 500 staff members have been told

:06:37. > :06:42.they will have to work an extra hour on Friday. They are over budget and

:06:43. > :06:47.struggling to win orders. Around 700 jobs mostly among contract workers

:06:48. > :06:52.have been lost at local operations here in the past year or so and what

:06:53. > :06:57.is contained in this pay offer is hardly likely to soothe any anxiety

:06:58. > :07:03.felt among the remaining workforce. The rationale for the pay deal has

:07:04. > :07:07.been set out in the bleakest of terms. Workers have been told the

:07:08. > :07:14.firm is in serious financial crisis. Costs must be reduced by 20%

:07:15. > :07:19.in Belfast by 2017, and savings are critical to its survival. Our senior

:07:20. > :07:22.stewards in the past week have been in discussions with the company. We

:07:23. > :07:26.know the company has been struggling for some time in terms of finance.

:07:27. > :07:29.This issue has been put before the workforce and they will be left to

:07:30. > :07:35.decide how they want to go with it, yes or no mac. Bath at -- back at

:07:36. > :07:40.Bombardier a ballot on pay will be held in the coming weeks. The mood

:07:41. > :07:44.of staff is said to be darkening with no assurances given on job

:07:45. > :07:47.security even if the deal goes through.

:07:48. > :07:49.Christian Aid has been marking its 70th anniversary with a special

:07:50. > :07:56.The charity, which was set up after World War Two to help

:07:57. > :07:59.refugees, organised an evening of music in the Ulster Hall to say

:08:00. > :08:08.thank you to the people here who have supported them over the years.

:08:09. > :08:16.The reality is that, 70 years on, there are some many refugees and

:08:17. > :08:19.crises across the world. A lot of conflict, as well as natural

:08:20. > :08:24.disasters caused by climate change, and people do have to flee their

:08:25. > :08:29.countries and they do have to seek livelihoods elsewhere, so, yes, we

:08:30. > :08:31.are as relevant now, more relevant now, than we were 70 years ago.

:08:32. > :08:36.Now here's Barra Best with the weather forecast.

:08:37. > :08:45.Quite a stormy night and it will turn quite chilly, a shock to the

:08:46. > :08:50.system after a relatively mild spell. Across Northern Ireland it

:08:51. > :08:54.will be quite gusty tonight, with costs around 70 miles an hour, and

:08:55. > :08:59.temperatures down close to freezing so quite a chilly start tomorrow and

:09:00. > :09:03.overall it will feel quite cold especially when you factor in the

:09:04. > :09:06.scattered showers and strong westerly winds. Over the hills there

:09:07. > :09:12.could be a touch of sleet which will not amount to very much. This is the

:09:13. > :09:16.picture across much of Britain and Ireland, strong gusty winds,

:09:17. > :09:18.scattered showers but spells of sunshine in between. Across the

:09:19. > :09:24.board temperatures are falling back to what they could be for this time

:09:25. > :09:27.of year. Keep the courts, scarves and gloves handy as it will feel

:09:28. > :09:33.colder with those bitterly cold winds. Tomorrow afternoon, gusts of

:09:34. > :09:39.60 miles an hour so quite blustery and some big waves. As that clears

:09:40. > :09:49.out of the way, into the weekend, we have the old Harry Kane Kate coming

:09:50. > :09:53.our way, temperatures at 12 or 13 degrees -- hurricane. That weather

:09:54. > :09:57.stays through the weekend but it will stay windy at times with

:09:58. > :10:01.further spells of rain and in fact it will stay unsettled right through

:10:02. > :10:04.until next week. Stay tuned for that. That is it for now. Have a

:10:05. > :10:05.very good night.
