:00:07. > :00:11.There has been gun attack in West Belfast late this afternoon,

:00:12. > :00:14.Three men escaped injury in the latest shooting,

:00:15. > :00:29.Several shots were fired at the three men sitting in a white van

:00:30. > :00:34.outside shops on this road at around 4:15pm. The police say after opening

:00:35. > :00:38.fire on the vehicle, the gunman, who was wearing a mask and dark

:00:39. > :00:42.clothing, ran off. Nobody was injured in the shooting, though the

:00:43. > :00:47.van targeted in the attack was taken away for forensic examination. To

:00:48. > :00:50.night, scenes of crime officers continued their examination of the

:00:51. > :00:57.area at the front of the business premises. Meanwhile, detectives have

:00:58. > :01:03.charged two men aged 18 and 50 with threats to kill. It is understood

:01:04. > :01:08.the charges relate to threats yesterday in another road in West

:01:09. > :01:11.Belfast. This latest shooting comes a day after a man was shot and

:01:12. > :01:16.critically injured while sitting in a car outside a school in West

:01:17. > :01:17.Belfast yesterday morning. It is not known yet whether this incident is

:01:18. > :01:21.linked to that one. The First Minister says key

:01:22. > :01:23.documents on the legacy of The Troubles which were part

:01:24. > :01:26.of the inter-party talks should be Victims and survivors have called

:01:27. > :01:28.on politicians to apologise for not including legacy issues

:01:29. > :01:31.in the Fresh Start agreement. Some victims told the BBC today

:01:32. > :01:35.that right up to the last minute they were led to believe something

:01:36. > :01:49.was going to happen but they were The Troubles left the legacy of

:01:50. > :01:58.misery. More than 3500 people died, The Troubles left the legacy of

:01:59. > :02:00.injuries. And most crimes have not been solved. At the

:02:01. > :02:02.injuries. And most crimes have not interparty talks there were

:02:03. > :02:06.discussions on legislation to set interparty talks there were

:02:07. > :02:11.agencies which would examine the past. But polish since did not reach

:02:12. > :02:17.agreement on that issue. -- but politicians did not reach. That's

:02:18. > :02:22.not what was expected. A bit of disappointment and dismayed, because

:02:23. > :02:28.right up until the very last minute, we thought it was going to be a full

:02:29. > :02:33.paper that came out. And to think we have just been left behind and

:02:34. > :02:41.dismissed completely is shocking. We were led right to the water's edge,

:02:42. > :02:45.so to speak. We were getting ready to discuss the finer detail of what

:02:46. > :02:50.we thought would be draft legislation on the main issues, and

:02:51. > :02:55.then out of the blue, we were told, it is all off. They want an apology

:02:56. > :03:05.for those who signed the agreement. I feel everybody has let them down.

:03:06. > :03:10.In one sense it doesn't matter whether one party or another is to

:03:11. > :03:13.blame for this. All parties need to support this, come back to the table

:03:14. > :03:17.and move forward with these measures. The DUP, Sinn Fein and

:03:18. > :03:24.British and Irish governments are backing the deal which has resolved

:03:25. > :03:34.issues in policy and finance but not issues of the past. Victims should

:03:35. > :03:37.have the opportunity to see what the issues were and it is lack of

:03:38. > :03:42.respect to the victims that they were not given the information

:03:43. > :03:47.needed, so I would still put out, let's give them all the information

:03:48. > :03:54.about the situation that it was in. We need to point the finger where

:03:55. > :03:57.the problem is, and the problem is this paramilitary security which has

:03:58. > :04:02.been used as a veto so families will not get the truth. But the

:04:03. > :04:06.Government has defended its negotiating position. We want

:04:07. > :04:09.families to have as much information as people that are possible but

:04:10. > :04:13.there is a certain amount of information that, if it were

:04:14. > :04:17.publicly known, it would give assistance to terrorists, and we

:04:18. > :04:21.could simply not compromise on that. The Secretary of State is planning

:04:22. > :04:24.to meet with victims soon to discuss their concerns. The recent

:04:25. > :04:28.negotiations have shown once again that there is no issue more complex

:04:29. > :04:31.or contentious than how to deal with the past.

:04:32. > :04:34.An 88-year-old woman has been left badly shaken after being attacked

:04:35. > :04:36.by three men who also ransacked her home.

:04:37. > :04:39.They pulled the telephone out of the wall so she couldn't phone for help.

:04:40. > :04:42.And this isn't the first time we have reported on this Belfast

:04:43. > :04:59.These pictures of Josie were taken four years ago after two men had

:05:00. > :05:03.broken into her home of the Shankill Road leaving her battered and

:05:04. > :05:07.bruised. Today a community worker Iain Maclachlan told me it had

:05:08. > :05:13.happened again. This time, just before 7pm, before the meal is

:05:14. > :05:19.entered her home, she was slapped around the face several times and I

:05:20. > :05:22.think when she fell she actually squealed all screamed quite loudly,

:05:23. > :05:32.which perhaps upset these people, and they left the house with her

:05:33. > :05:37.post and bank card. -- squealed all screamed. She was once robbed along

:05:38. > :05:41.this stretch of road not far from her home. A man even came to her

:05:42. > :05:45.door claiming he was returning money that had been stolen from her and

:05:46. > :05:49.she was robbed again. In fact, I believes she has been robbed of

:05:50. > :05:55.around five times in the past number of years. -- robbed around. Her

:05:56. > :05:59.neighbour Marie did not want to appear on camera. She helped Josie

:06:00. > :06:06.in the moments after the robbery and today she visited her in hospital.

:06:07. > :06:11.What state is she in? She is just crying. She is just saying, why did

:06:12. > :06:15.they do that to me? Why is this happening to me? I don't owe these

:06:16. > :06:22.people any money I have. I've worked hard for my money, she says.

:06:23. > :06:28.Anything she has is saved for her daughter and grandchildren and her

:06:29. > :06:29.funeral. Despite what has happened, Josie told her neighbour she wants

:06:30. > :06:34.to return to her home. A new discovery by scientists

:06:35. > :06:38.at the Ulster University is being hailed as a global breakthrough in

:06:39. > :06:40.the treatment of pancreatic cancer. It's one of the most serious forms

:06:41. > :06:44.of cancer and only 4% of those This new treatment makes use

:06:45. > :07:01.of bubbles and sound waves to These bubbles are loaded with oxygen

:07:02. > :07:05.and the surface of the bubble, we attach a non-active drug, and once

:07:06. > :07:10.we deliver the bubbles, we can focus it at the pancreatic tumour so that

:07:11. > :07:12.burst the bubble, releases the oxygen and activates the drug,

:07:13. > :07:16.leading to a tumour adoption affect. A singer-songwirter from Londonderry

:07:17. > :07:19.has just missed out on one of the Soak, who's 19,

:07:20. > :07:22.made the shortlist for the Mercury Prize awarded to the best British or

:07:23. > :07:25.Irish album by an independent panel At a star-studded event in London

:07:26. > :07:29.this evening, the award went to Ulster went down to a 27-9 defeat

:07:30. > :07:37.by Saracens in tonight's European Champions Cup clash

:07:38. > :07:42.at Kingspan Stadium tonight. Fly-half Paddy Jackson kicked two

:07:43. > :07:45.penalties and a drop goal But Chris Wyles touched down in the

:07:46. > :07:50.corner for Sarries before half time. Alex Goode,

:07:51. > :07:57.Duncan Taylor and Vunipola landed second-half tries, with Farrell

:07:58. > :08:13.adding two conversions and It's a very chilly night and even

:08:14. > :08:19.colder in the studio! Let's look at the forecast.

:08:20. > :08:28.Good evening. The cold air has certainly been digging in today and

:08:29. > :08:33.we have had showers and lottery wins brewing up. -- blustery winds. We

:08:34. > :08:39.could see wins at 60 miles an hour around the coast and they could be

:08:40. > :08:42.disruptive. We have sleet and snow showers and they will leave a

:08:43. > :08:46.dusting on the hills, but they are also leaving wet surfaces, and as

:08:47. > :08:50.temperatures drop back to freezing, I would not be surprised to see some

:08:51. > :08:54.icy patches forming. The roads could be quite slippery so do take care.

:08:55. > :08:58.We still have that bitter wind as we start the weekend with more wintry

:08:59. > :09:02.showers to come for a time tomorrow and they will be edging in from the

:09:03. > :09:10.north-west. Again, that wintry mix of rain, hail, sleet and snow. A few

:09:11. > :09:13.showers over the eastern side of Northern Ireland and also running

:09:14. > :09:19.along the south and south-east of England. The wind warning remains in

:09:20. > :09:22.place here for gales or severe gales, so bitterly cold and even

:09:23. > :09:27.where we have the sunshine it will be a pretty cold day. Out towards

:09:28. > :09:31.the west and north-west, we have showers coming in in the afternoon.

:09:32. > :09:34.Bright spells in between and by that stage we will find most of the

:09:35. > :09:43.showers in Northern Ireland will be rain with sleet contract -- confined

:09:44. > :09:47.to the hills. More frost and icy patches tomorrow night and the wind

:09:48. > :09:48.is is down for Sunday, the drier day of the weekend, but still feeling

:09:49. > :09:52.chilly. -- the wind eases down. Our next BBC Newsline is
