:01:35. > :01:37.It's understood that a pipe bomb was left on the doorstep of this family

:01:38. > :01:40.home at Ard Na Smoll in Dungiven sometime yesterday evening.

:01:41. > :01:42.The alert was raised when a neighbour noticed two wheelie

:01:43. > :01:44.bins on fire and called the emergency services.

:01:45. > :01:46.The victim of the attack says his partner

:01:47. > :01:49.and their two-year-old daughter were in the house at the time.

:01:50. > :01:52.It is terrifying, even thinking the thought of what could have happened.

:01:53. > :02:01.I have been standing here a shell of a person at the minute.

:02:02. > :02:04.It really hit me this morning, what could have happened.

:02:05. > :02:12.The police say the lives of the local fire fighters were also

:02:13. > :02:14.put at risk when they arrived to deal with the fire.

:02:15. > :02:17.A sister of the victim says those who carried

:02:18. > :02:19.it out could have killed a mother and her two-year-old daughter.

:02:20. > :02:25.My family lives in that house and somebody's trying to kill them.

:02:26. > :02:29.I think they are really terrified and scared, like anyone else would

:02:30. > :02:31.be if someone was setting a bomb outside your house.

:02:32. > :02:41.The police are still investigating a motive for this latest attack.

:02:42. > :02:45.Two other incidents where devices were found in the Dungiven area this

:02:46. > :02:48.month have been blamed on dissident republicans.

:02:49. > :02:52.I am saying to these groups, sit down and try and analyse what they

:02:53. > :02:59.I ask everybody in this estate do they support this type of activity?

:03:00. > :03:03.Ask the people in these houses what they think of it,

:03:04. > :03:05.Police have praised the patience of local people,

:03:06. > :03:08.on what they describe as a night of disruption for them, and have

:03:09. > :03:12.They want to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity

:03:13. > :03:22.in and around this area last night to get in touch.

:03:23. > :03:24.The Gardai in County Monaghan have been carrying out searches relating

:03:25. > :03:26.to dissident republicans, and have recovered assault rifles,

:03:27. > :03:31.Officers say it was a "significant find" just outside Scotstown.

:03:32. > :03:34.The searches follow the arrest of a 43-year-old man last week.

:03:35. > :03:37.He was later charged with IRA membership.

:03:38. > :03:42.It's expected the searches will resume in the morning.

:03:43. > :03:45.Parents at four schools in Bangor have been warned that some

:03:46. > :03:50.of the students are being sold drugs in the town centre.

:03:51. > :03:52.Letters have been sent out by the school principals.

:03:53. > :03:56.Here's our Education Correspondent, Robbie Meredith.

:03:57. > :04:00.It's a place used by hundreds of pupils every day to get to

:04:01. > :04:03.and from school, but it is also a place where children as young

:04:04. > :04:08.In a letter sent out to parents yesterday

:04:09. > :04:11.and published this morning in the Belfast Telegraph, the headteacher

:04:12. > :04:15.said drug abuse was becoming a growing and serious problem.

:04:16. > :04:17.They said the PSNI had recently received

:04:18. > :04:21.reports that Year Eight pupils had been approached by older boys not

:04:22. > :04:24.in school uniform looking to sell them drugs at the town's bus station

:04:25. > :04:30.We took the decision based on the fact that this is a community issue.

:04:31. > :04:33.We are stronger when we work together.

:04:34. > :04:36.There's four schools, approximately 4000 pupils across these schools.

:04:37. > :04:39.Beyond the schools, at the bus station, a lot of pupils

:04:40. > :04:45.It is important to help the parents, the community to actually start to

:04:46. > :04:48.work on this problem and hopefully solve it.

:04:49. > :04:51.It was parents of pupils at Bangor Grammar School who first told

:04:52. > :04:53.the principal there about what was happening.

:04:54. > :04:55.What has startled us the most has been the approach

:04:56. > :05:02.We are talking about an 11 and 12-year-old.

:05:03. > :05:04.But that, certainly for myself and my principal colleagues,

:05:05. > :05:09.Now she wants more action from the police.

:05:10. > :05:13.Realistically PSNI funds have been cut and possibly this is one

:05:14. > :05:20.I'd like to see much more visibility.

:05:21. > :05:23.The bus station is very busy first thing in the morning,

:05:24. > :05:28.late afternoon, servicing our four schools and the wider area.

:05:29. > :05:33.That basic visibility would be a necessity.

:05:34. > :05:37.PSNI officers won't have to go far to try and stop schoolchildren

:05:38. > :05:40.being offered drugs here because it has been happening right across the

:05:41. > :05:49.I understand the concerns that led to this letter and I ask people to

:05:50. > :05:53.contact us and the schools to help us with our resources,

:05:54. > :05:57.Will you be mounting more patrols in the area?

:05:58. > :06:00.We keep all operations under constant review based

:06:01. > :06:04.on the threat on harm and the risk to the public, and how

:06:05. > :06:07.we can best target our resources intelligently to keep people safe.

:06:08. > :06:12.While it is shocking that drugs are being dealt to such young children,

:06:13. > :06:14.schools hope that by highlighting this, it will make pupils, parents,

:06:15. > :06:26.Thirteen members of a loyalist flute band have

:06:27. > :06:30.successfully appealed convictions for provocatively playing

:06:31. > :06:34.a sectarian tune outside a Catholic church in North Belfast in 2012.

:06:35. > :06:36.Charges had been brought against members of the Young Conway

:06:37. > :06:39.Volunteers following an incident during a 12th of July parade.

:06:40. > :06:46.This is the incident which led to the 13 men being

:06:47. > :06:50.accused of a provocative act likely to cause public disorder.

:06:51. > :06:53.They denied playing a rendition of the Famine Song.

:06:54. > :06:55.Instead, they claimed to have been performing

:06:56. > :07:01.The band leader on the day of the parade was the only one

:07:02. > :07:05.He said they'd been forced to stop outside the church because

:07:06. > :07:19.He said they started up the Beach Boys tune to ward off lethargy.

:07:20. > :07:21.In April, the 13 defendants were all convicted.

:07:22. > :07:23.Three of them receiving five-month suspended prison sentences.

:07:24. > :07:26.A challenge to the convictions was due to be heard in court today.

:07:27. > :07:28.Prosecutors did not oppose the band members' challenge to

:07:29. > :07:32.That was because they agreed to keep the peace for two years.

:07:33. > :07:34.If they don't abide by that, they could be jailed

:07:35. > :07:39.Scams cost the Northern Ireland economy an estimated ?100 million
