:00:07. > :00:08.Good evening and welcome to BBC Newsline.

:00:09. > :00:11.Storm Desmond has been wreaking havoc in Northern Ireland.

:00:12. > :00:15.The Fire and Rescue Service says it has responded to 31 flooding

:00:16. > :00:19.incidents, rescuing 24 people, in Counties Fermanagh, Londonderry

:00:20. > :00:23.and Tyrone since yesterday evening because of heavy rain.

:00:24. > :00:27.Ten people were helped to safety during one incident in Strabane

:00:28. > :00:31.while in Dungannon 31 retailing units were hit by an overnight flood

:00:32. > :00:38.Damage to stock is estimated in the millions of pounds.

:00:39. > :01:01.Mopping out and counting the cost. 31 retail units on the shopping

:01:02. > :01:04.complex on the outskirts of Dungannon or hurt by the overnight

:01:05. > :01:06.flight. Estimated cost of stock lost run

:01:07. > :01:08.into millions of pounds. This is Christmas stock and it is

:01:09. > :01:15.unfortunate to happen in this period. I am looking at 30 or

:01:16. > :01:18.?40,000 worth of stock. The basement storeroom was wiped out

:01:19. > :01:21.here. Ang Lee, I remain shop floor is

:01:22. > :01:26.elevated so it didn't get as much of the flood but our storeroom is

:01:27. > :01:38.completely wiped out and we are left devastated with the majority of our

:01:39. > :01:42.overstock destroyed down here. This is the high part of the

:01:43. > :01:45.shopping complex. This photo taken first thing this

:01:46. > :01:54.morning shows what it was like before the waters receded. This area

:01:55. > :01:57.was blocked, causing the flood which also swept through the road service

:01:58. > :02:00.depot to damage a number of vehicles.

:02:01. > :02:09.We were as prepared as we could be for this but we had a very

:02:10. > :02:15.significant rain for -- rainfall and it brought debris down.

:02:16. > :02:18.We will see what damage has been done and take notice. Not great at

:02:19. > :02:23.this time of year but what can you do? Everybody has been affected. We

:02:24. > :02:27.hope to be up and running as soon as possible, probably Tuesday or

:02:28. > :02:30.Wednesday. Shop owners in to be open for

:02:31. > :02:32.business again in the next couple of days.

:02:33. > :02:35.In Clady, a digger was used to help bring an elderly man to safety

:02:36. > :02:39.after he was trapped in his home by flood waters.

:02:40. > :02:42.Foyle Search and Rescue and the Community Rescue Service were called

:02:43. > :03:04.The village has been badly affected, as Ita Dungan reports.

:03:05. > :03:18.On the outskirts of Clady, it was a long night for these rodents. --

:03:19. > :03:23.residents. We could see two meadows and over the far side is the far

:03:24. > :03:33.bank of the River Finn. But that bank has been coming slowly more and

:03:34. > :03:40.more flooded. The only view is up and over this ladder. This is into

:03:41. > :03:44.your garden at the back. How far did the water come?

:03:45. > :03:50.The water was up to here and the River agency guys brought sandbags

:03:51. > :03:56.for the back and front of the house about 6pm. The fire brigade then

:03:57. > :04:07.arrived to see if I wanted to go out in the boat. We said no.

:04:08. > :04:15.In the town itself, the border was closed.

:04:16. > :04:22.The shop was restarted three weeks ago after another flood. You see

:04:23. > :04:31.bottles floating. There is a piece here and it will be a long time to

:04:32. > :04:34.get insurance sorted out. It is expected to subside over

:04:35. > :04:41.coming days and in the clean-up will begin. Canisters have been dumped by

:04:42. > :04:43.the flooding water. In County Fermanagh, a number

:04:44. > :04:45.of roads are closed due to flooding including the Acres,

:04:46. > :04:47.a housing development off For one man,

:04:48. > :04:50.a flooded road in Maguiresbridge He says the rain has had

:04:51. > :05:07.a devastating effect on the area. It is unbelievable the amount of

:05:08. > :05:11.water that has come up. All the bridges or fill in the water is

:05:12. > :05:15.building back up through these fields and up through the farms.

:05:16. > :05:19.There are farms run the country and they have lost loads of silage. It

:05:20. > :05:21.is devastating. The stormy weather has caused

:05:22. > :05:23.problems in other areas too. In Antrim,

:05:24. > :05:25.pictures taken this morning show flooding in Templepatrick

:05:26. > :05:27.and the area around the town centre In the Republic,

:05:28. > :05:34.the army has been drafted in to help out in a number of areas

:05:35. > :05:38.including Cork and Kerry to assist They were responding to requests

:05:39. > :05:44.for help from local authorities. Two security alerts in Londonderry

:05:45. > :05:47.have now ended. Spencer Road and the city's railway

:05:48. > :05:50.station were closed yesterday following reports that explosive

:05:51. > :05:55.devices had been left in both areas. The PSNI say following searches

:05:56. > :06:00.nothing untoward was found. Now, after all the heavy rain of the

:06:01. > :06:03.past few days, let's see if we're in for a bit of a drier spell.

:06:04. > :06:18.Angie Phillips has the details. Today was a welcome better day but

:06:19. > :06:25.storm Desmond has left his mark in places, especially the West where it

:06:26. > :06:30.was waterlogged and flooded. Unfortunately, still some more

:06:31. > :06:43.unsettled weather to come. Often quite windy along with showers. Try

:06:44. > :06:51.this evening -- dry. Some ground frost is possible. That is the

:06:52. > :06:58.indicator for tomorrow. And unsettled day, often windy. A wet

:06:59. > :07:02.started the day with heavy pulses of rain, although that batch of rain

:07:03. > :07:11.will move away with the rush hour to give us a dry spell in the morning.

:07:12. > :07:16.Drier and brighter for England and Wales and for much of the country we

:07:17. > :07:21.are looking at e-mail today. Into the afternoon, another band of rain

:07:22. > :07:26.pushing into the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Some of that

:07:27. > :07:31.could be persistent with strong blustery winds as well. Given the

:07:32. > :07:36.concerns about the rain, the Met office have issued a warning

:07:37. > :07:40.particularly in ground already saturated. There is more rain and

:07:41. > :07:43.the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday. That's it from us

:07:44. > :07:45.until 10:20pm this evening. In the meantime, you can keep up to

:07:46. > :07:49.date with local news on Radio Ulster From everyone here on
