:00:00. > :00:07.you Huw in the studio. Congratulations to the

:00:08. > :00:12.A County Tyrone man has died after being swept away by flood water.

:00:13. > :00:15.His body was discovered this morning in County Monaghan.

:00:16. > :00:19.70-year-old Ivan Vaughan was from Caledon

:00:20. > :00:23.and known in the entertainment business as Simon Scott.

:00:24. > :00:26.He performed with the group the Plattermen in the 1960s and 70s

:00:27. > :00:29.and recently worked as a solo artist.

:00:30. > :00:32.A Garda spokesman said it appeared his car got stuck in flooding

:00:33. > :00:37.as he drove along a minor road from Glaslough to Caledon last night

:00:38. > :00:40.and that when he got out he got caught in flood water.

:00:41. > :00:43.His body was found a short distance from his car.

:00:44. > :00:45.A post mortem examination will be carried out on his remains

:00:46. > :00:49.And we'll have more on the impact of the weekend flooding shortly.

:00:50. > :00:52.The deputy leader of the DUP has said he will not be standing

:00:53. > :00:56.Nigel Dodds said he wanted to concentrate on his work as

:00:57. > :01:01.And he's backed the MLA Arlene Foster to succeed Peter Robinson.

:01:02. > :01:16.There is flash photography in this report from Will Leitch.

:01:17. > :01:20.This party works for Ulster now and for ever. Thank you.

:01:21. > :01:22.Just two weeks ago, it seemed like the time had come

:01:23. > :01:28.for a seasoned politician - and others clearly thought so, too.

:01:29. > :01:31.I somehow think he's a man who will be hearing a lot more about in the

:01:32. > :01:33.future. We will see what happens. A member of the DUP since 1978,

:01:34. > :01:36.Nigel Dodds was first elected to Belfast City Council in 1985,

:01:37. > :01:39.later to be an MLA, Five years ago,

:01:40. > :01:43.he stood down from the Assembly to concentrate on his role leading

:01:44. > :01:46.the party in the House of Commons. Commentators thought the party's

:01:47. > :01:49."dream ticket" to succeed Peter Robinson

:01:50. > :02:07.was Mr Dodds as DUP leader, What's in the best interests of the

:02:08. > :02:12.party and of the country? I honestly believe that in the modern political

:02:13. > :02:14.setup of Northern Ireland with devolved government firmly

:02:15. > :02:20.established and moving forward that the leader of the party needs to be

:02:21. > :02:22.in Belfast here in the Assembly. If I was still in the Assembly I would

:02:23. > :02:24.have no hesitation whatsoever. It's believed Sammy Wilson is now

:02:25. > :02:25.reconsidering his decision last week to rule

:02:26. > :02:28.himself out of the leadership race, but tonight Mr Dodds named

:02:29. > :02:38.Arlene Foster as his choice. I believe very firmly that Arlene is

:02:39. > :02:45.clearly the person who should take the party forward. Someone who's

:02:46. > :02:49.already acted as First Minister in the assembly on a two occasions. I

:02:50. > :02:53.believe that her working with me and the rest of the teams in the

:02:54. > :02:59.Assembly, Westminster and Europe will provide the very, very positive

:03:00. > :03:00.future for Northern Ireland and for Unionism.

:03:01. > :03:03.At 57, Nigel Dodds' political career is still very much alive.

:03:04. > :03:08.He retains the role of Deputy Leader of the party.

:03:09. > :03:20.With Nigel Dodds in -- enforcing Arlene Foster, many will see her as

:03:21. > :03:22.a likely candidate. It will be decided who will get the job in the

:03:23. > :03:24.next couple of weeks. So, Mark, what chance is there now

:03:25. > :03:35.that we could have a contest It's a possibility, but just within

:03:36. > :03:39.the last few moments we've had another development which is that

:03:40. > :03:44.Peter Robinson has posted on Twitter that he has received a valid

:03:45. > :03:48.nomination for Arlene Foster as DUP leader. Nominations close on

:03:49. > :03:52.Wednesday and Mr Robinson has also said that Arlene Foster has the

:03:53. > :03:57.support of more than three quarters of the 46th DUP politicians who will

:03:58. > :04:00.decide who the next leader will be. We understand Sammy Wilson is

:04:01. > :04:04.reconsidering his position overnight, but what he will have to

:04:05. > :04:07.consider is whether he can turn around what appears to be the

:04:08. > :04:09.arithmetic which is an Arlene Foster's side as things stand.

:04:10. > :04:11.Thank you. And there'll be more discussion

:04:12. > :04:13.on the DUP leadership contest on the Good Morning Ulster

:04:14. > :04:15.programme tomorrow on After the weekend storm comes

:04:16. > :04:19.the clean up. In parts of Fermanagh and Tyrone,

:04:20. > :04:22.which have been hardest hit locally, there have been complaints

:04:23. > :04:24.that flood defences are just not In a moment Keiron Tourish

:04:25. > :04:28.reports from Clady. First Julian Fowler, our reporter

:04:29. > :04:32.in the southwest, tells us about the upset that yet again homes

:04:33. > :04:44.and businesses are under water. People who live in the acre is

:04:45. > :04:49.feared their homes would flood, and on Saturday night the nightmare

:04:50. > :04:53.became a reality. There was two inches of water inside this lady's

:04:54. > :04:55.home. She blames a blocked culvert beneath the road.

:04:56. > :04:57.Despite contacting many people, the problem hasn't been fixed.

:04:58. > :05:01.We have told them it is an ongoing problem.

:05:02. > :05:04.They just pass the buck from one to the other.

:05:05. > :05:10.This was the scene just outside where the river rose.

:05:11. > :05:18.It has come up around the furniture and it is up

:05:19. > :05:24.Some abandoned their boots to get, about while others were

:05:25. > :05:30.The level of the Newbridge Road was raised after a flood in 2009.

:05:31. > :05:33.This activity centre put in flood defences, but the

:05:34. > :05:40.After fighting the raising levels, it came up through the floors.

:05:41. > :05:50.It is a one in 50-year event and it has happened twice in five years.

:05:51. > :05:58.In Bow, it was a school run by a tractor.

:05:59. > :06:05.The roads here have flooded three times in the last three weeks.

:06:06. > :06:16.There are fears there could be even more disruption.

:06:17. > :06:27.It's been a double blow for this businessman in Clady.

:06:28. > :06:31.The last time it was manageable. This time, a complete wipe-out. It

:06:32. > :06:37.will put me on my knees. It has been hard to come back from.

:06:38. > :06:39.Water engulfed his village causer in misery once again.

:06:40. > :06:42.A number of people had to leave their homes.

:06:43. > :06:48.In this business, they estimate the repair bill will be ?60,000.

:06:49. > :06:53.In Strabane, the river flooded this house causing major damage.

:06:54. > :06:55.There is more damage and it came into the back

:06:56. > :07:08.If filled this nearby car park yesterday morning.

:07:09. > :07:17.Back in this area, they are very resilient.

:07:18. > :07:26.To give you a scale of the damage, behind me, that is not the river.

:07:27. > :07:30.It came over that banking and swept through this entire area.

:07:31. > :07:34.It has dislodged this mobile storage unit and office.

:07:35. > :07:37.The floodwater continued on into the forecourt

:07:38. > :07:44.of this garage, and here is what is supposed to be a protective wall

:07:45. > :07:51.People here want an urgent upgrade to what they have

:07:52. > :07:59.described as completely inadequate flood defences.

:08:00. > :08:11.The latest weather outlook now, with Cecilia Daly.

:08:12. > :08:16.Good evening. Storm Desmond has gone but the effects are still being felt

:08:17. > :08:21.across parts of Tyrone and Fermanagh. There is more rain in the

:08:22. > :08:26.forecast this week. No warnings have been issued for Wednesday yet, but

:08:27. > :08:30.there may be a spell of rain falling in areas that don't need it.

:08:31. > :08:35.Fortunately, there is dry weather for the end of the week which will

:08:36. > :08:42.bring some crisp sunshine. Tonight, scattered showers. A brisk wind. Not

:08:43. > :08:46.too much rain either. In between, it'll be clear but not too cold.

:08:47. > :08:50.Brightwell to start the day tomorrow. It should be dry in many

:08:51. > :08:54.places for a good chunk of the morning. There are heavy showers

:08:55. > :09:00.waiting in the west of the Donegal coast they will come eastwards

:09:01. > :09:04.around lunchtime. A few areas of showers tomorrow. There aren't any

:09:05. > :09:07.warnings in force across the UK and Ireland, but there is a clump of

:09:08. > :09:13.showers across the West of Scotland and Northern Ireland. It will be

:09:14. > :09:18.mild for a time, but as the day goes on and it will get cooler. Once this

:09:19. > :09:22.area of showers moves through, most of Northern Ireland will be dry and

:09:23. > :09:25.bright. Winds will drop and temperatures. Too full. Actually on

:09:26. > :09:34.a Tuesday night with a potential frost stop's quite chilly. On

:09:35. > :09:38.Wednesday, it could add to the flooding problems, especially across

:09:39. > :09:40.the West. To end the week, it is dry, cold and bright.
