:00:10. > :00:16.The police and Health and Safety Executive investigators

:00:17. > :00:20.It's thought the incident involved a tractor.

:00:21. > :00:25.Our reporter Colletta Smith joins us from Kilclief

:00:26. > :00:40.In the County Down coast and it was close to hear that earlier this

:00:41. > :00:47.evening a man in his 70s lost his life at a farm. Tonight, police are

:00:48. > :00:55.still at the scene, beginning an investigation into what happened

:00:56. > :00:57.earlier on today. Cause this was a death at a farm, the Health and

:00:58. > :01:00.Safety Executive are looking into the circumstances and trying to

:01:01. > :01:05.examine the cause of the death of this man. Neighbours and friends of

:01:06. > :01:10.the man are gathering at the host of eight and understandably are all

:01:11. > :01:16.shocked. Family members have told me that this was a very private man and

:01:17. > :01:25.that is a sentiment echoed by the local MP who knows the family.

:01:26. > :01:27.Deepest sympathies will go to the bereaved of the family, the poor man

:01:28. > :01:34.who lost his life in such tragic circumstances, to his three sisters

:01:35. > :01:43.and his brother, who, I'm sure, will be in a deep sense of grief. The

:01:44. > :01:50.farming community asked or call, strong and in support of that family

:01:51. > :01:54.tonight -- Stoic. It brings home the death of somebody who was special in

:01:55. > :02:04.their community and somebody who enjoyed life but above all loved his

:02:05. > :02:05.farm and his animals and the work you did on a daily basis all his

:02:06. > :02:09.life. Farming families across Northern

:02:10. > :02:14.Ireland are feeling the pain that this community has suffered as they

:02:15. > :02:19.remember a man who lost his life doing the job that he laughs. --

:02:20. > :02:21.loves. A priest has urged young people

:02:22. > :02:26.in west Belfast not to take the law He was speaking at the funeral

:02:27. > :02:28.of Christopher Meli, who was beaten to death in Twinbrook

:02:29. > :02:31.where he was visiting friends One of the teenagers accused

:02:32. > :02:36.of Christopher Meli's murder Another had bail refused amid fears

:02:37. > :02:48.that he would re-offend. Brumley and friends gathered outside

:02:49. > :02:52.the home this morning. Standing silently as the coughing of

:02:53. > :03:01.20-year-old Christopher Meli was carried outside before being placed

:03:02. > :03:13.in a horse-drawn hearse. A lone piper played a lament. More people

:03:14. > :03:22.joined, filing and for Requiem Mass. Fr Aidan Denny described what he

:03:23. > :03:27.called stupid teenagers who did this deed. He urged people not to take

:03:28. > :03:31.the law into their own hands, echoing the calls from the family.

:03:32. > :03:38.The priest also spoke of the tragic loss which the family are having to

:03:39. > :03:45.come to terms with. Nothing can prepare us for this and

:03:46. > :03:49.we ask why it happened. The tendency is to say that it is the will of

:03:50. > :03:55.God. Let us be perfectly clear, God did not will this tragedy to happen.

:03:56. > :04:03.As they moved away from the church for boreal, Christopher Meli's

:04:04. > :04:10.mother the Nessa clutched a picture of her. -- the Nessa clutched a

:04:11. > :04:14.picture of him. A community in County Fermanagh

:04:15. > :04:15.is mourning the loss of a seven-year-old boy who was

:04:16. > :04:17.killed in a road accident yesterday. He was hit by a car

:04:18. > :04:19.on Lattone Road near Belcoo. Here's our south west

:04:20. > :04:30.reporter, Julian Fowler. Seven-year-old Ryan McGovern lived

:04:31. > :04:36.with his parents and brothers a few miles from where he was killed. He

:04:37. > :04:45.was struck by a car that was moving along the road. You later died in

:04:46. > :04:49.hospital. This latest tragedy has left another family and another

:04:50. > :04:55.community devastated. We are heartbroken. On behalf of the

:04:56. > :05:04.whole community, I cannot believe how they are feeling because I have

:05:05. > :05:08.a wee boy the same age and the play together for the local club. It is

:05:09. > :05:15.very, very sad. For the school beside us, last week

:05:16. > :05:20.they would have been full of the joy of Christmas.

:05:21. > :05:26.Yes, and Santa Claus came to town and they were all playing. It is

:05:27. > :05:31.desperate. Words can't describe it. I am devastated.

:05:32. > :05:48.The police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

:05:49. > :05:57.A man who admitted taking part in several attacks against the security

:05:58. > :06:06.forces has been sent to prison. The Deputy First Minister Martin

:06:07. > :06:06.McGuinness has praised the prominent republican Thomas "Slab" Murphy for,

:06:07. > :06:08.what he called, "his invaluable support"

:06:09. > :06:09.for the peace process. The South Armagh man was convicted

:06:10. > :06:15.last week on nine counts of tax evasion by the Special

:06:16. > :06:16.Criminal Court in Dublin. Here's Our Political Editor

:06:17. > :06:29.Mark Devenport. For decades he was known as a

:06:30. > :06:32.prominent Republican. He was charged with nine counts of tax evasion but

:06:33. > :06:39.Sinn Fein said he was treated unfairly. Gerry Adams criticised the

:06:40. > :06:47.choice of court chosen to deal with them which works with a judge but no

:06:48. > :06:58.Judy. Ministers faced questions about Tom Murphy's case. Martin

:06:59. > :07:05.McGuinness said it had been vital. It wouldn't have happened without

:07:06. > :07:07.the support of people like Murphy. We need to understand that. Tom

:07:08. > :07:16.Murphy has found himself before a court on revenue matters. There have

:07:17. > :07:23.been business people found before courts but none of them are to be

:07:24. > :07:27.described as criminals. Others didn't ensure those concerns.

:07:28. > :07:33.A Robinson and thought it would be sheer madness to have the Murphy

:07:34. > :07:37.case in front of a jury. I don't think there would have been

:07:38. > :07:42.a different result but they would have been more susceptible to

:07:43. > :07:45.pressures. There have been good reasons for a

:07:46. > :07:52.number of years why we have had special criminal courts and continue

:07:53. > :07:54.to have them. We believe it is important in the context of bringing

:07:55. > :07:58.people to justice that every effort is made to ensure that we bring an

:07:59. > :08:02.end to the scourge of organised crime.

:08:03. > :08:07.Ministers confirmed that a new joint task force intended to tackle cross

:08:08. > :08:08.force organised in Parliament Rotary crime will have a meeting next

:08:09. > :08:15.month. -- Pala military crime. With a rain warning issued

:08:16. > :08:17.for parts of the west, here's the latest weather

:08:18. > :08:33.forecast with Cecilia Daly. We have wet and windy boreal --

:08:34. > :08:40.weather coming in over night and a weather warning. The rain is piling

:08:41. > :08:44.up in the south west in particular. Still raining in many places first

:08:45. > :08:49.thing tomorrow but that wet and windy weather will clear quickly. If

:08:50. > :09:01.you are up early, it will be mild but there will be water spray and

:09:02. > :09:07.localised flooding. Not a bad day for shopping later on. The rainfall

:09:08. > :09:16.area becoming slow moving across northern England and Wales and

:09:17. > :09:21.Scotland. It will get colder across Northern Ireland as the day goes on

:09:22. > :09:34.but fairly dry with just a few showers around. That will lead into

:09:35. > :09:44.the night. There could be some nice round on Wednesday morning. -- ice.

:09:45. > :09:50.We are expecting that to clear to lead a fairly crisp day on Christmas

:09:51. > :09:51.Eve with a few flakes of snow on the hills.
