:00:18. > :00:36.No longer AP McCoy, now Sir Anthony. He retired from the sport earlier

:00:37. > :00:39.this year and says the knighthood is a huge honour.

:00:40. > :00:45.I had a very successful career. I had a very lucky career. But I

:00:46. > :00:54.really do think that this is the highest honour that anyone can get.

:00:55. > :01:00.Boxing champion was awarded an MBE and actor James Nesbitt receives an

:01:01. > :01:02.MBE for services to drama and the community.

:01:03. > :01:07.The very fact that I am connected to Northern Ireland through this net

:01:08. > :01:13.beanbag OBEs is great. It means I'm still getting away with it in drama

:01:14. > :01:17.is great. I phoned my father. I got my mum a few years ago. My dad said,

:01:18. > :01:22.about time. But I think he was joking. The

:01:23. > :01:26.former Lord Mayor of Belfast was interred in the 70s is delighted his

:01:27. > :01:30.community work has been recognised with an MBE.

:01:31. > :01:35.I felt very humble to be honest. I've always tried to work across the

:01:36. > :01:39.community. And are you looking forward them to

:01:40. > :01:42.your day out in London? Well, my wife certainly is. I think

:01:43. > :01:48.she's looking through the catalogues to see if she can get any ideas.

:01:49. > :01:51.Paddy Hocker, winner of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, also receives

:01:52. > :01:53.an MBE for his charity work. also receives an MBE

:01:54. > :01:55.for his charity work. A woman has appeared in court

:01:56. > :01:58.charged with the attempted murder of her son at flats on the outskirts

:01:59. > :02:01.of north Belfast earlier this week. Julie Larsen, who's 41 and whose

:02:02. > :02:04.address was given as Ross House, Mount Vernon, allegedly

:02:05. > :02:07.watched her son being beaten unconscious without

:02:08. > :02:10.trying to intervene. His partner received a broken arm

:02:11. > :02:23.during the incident. Matthew Larsson was attacked with a

:02:24. > :02:28.metal bar here at Mount Vernon on Monday. A 24-year-old struck up to

:02:29. > :02:32.20 times. One blow so severe it is said to have caused his year to

:02:33. > :02:35.explode. He is being treated in intensive care at the Royal

:02:36. > :02:41.pictorial hospital. This morning, his mother appeared before Belfast

:02:42. > :02:44.Magistrates' Court accused of attentive mode and a number of other

:02:45. > :02:49.charges related to the attack. The court heard that a man suspected of

:02:50. > :02:52.carrying out the attack is still at large and detectives told the court

:02:53. > :02:56.that they believe that Julie Larsen arrived at the scene in the

:02:57. > :02:59.knowledge that her son was going to be serious li assaulted by this

:03:00. > :03:02.other suspect. It is alleged that she did nothing to stop the attack

:03:03. > :03:07.and afterwards cleaned the flat in order to make it look as though the

:03:08. > :03:10.attack has happened elsewhere. It is alleged Julie Larsen had tried to

:03:11. > :03:14.mislead police by saying that she found her son with the injuries and

:03:15. > :03:17.that he had been under threat from locals. During cross-examination the

:03:18. > :03:21.detective confirmed that Julie Larsen denied the events during

:03:22. > :03:25.interviews the court heard that she is not accused of taking part in the

:03:26. > :03:29.physical assault on her son. Our lawyer said that she had been the

:03:30. > :03:33.one to administer first aid and then went to the hospital. He said, her

:03:34. > :03:36.main concern was for her son and his condition. The judge refused her

:03:37. > :03:37.bail because of the risk interference with witnesses.

:03:38. > :03:42.A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with attempted

:03:43. > :03:45.murder relating to a stabbing in Ballymena two months ago.

:03:46. > :03:47.A 30-year-old man was injured during the attack in a flat

:03:48. > :03:53.Kyle Joseph Rainey, of Rossdale in Tullygarley denies the charge.

:03:54. > :03:55.The police have released two 17-year-olds they had been

:03:56. > :03:59.questioning in relation to the murder of west Belfast man

:04:00. > :04:02.The 20-year-old was killed near houses at Glasvey Close

:04:03. > :04:10.Most roads across Northern Ireland have reopened following Storm Frank.

:04:11. > :04:13.At its peak, nearly 300 roads were blocked by water

:04:14. > :04:22.The heavy rainfall also caused disruption in Fermanagh where fields

:04:23. > :04:25.Storm Frank saw rivers and loughs bursting their banks

:04:26. > :04:28.The local MP says he's concerned about the long-term impact

:04:29. > :04:39.of the bad weather on some of the roads in the county.

:04:40. > :04:43.People are obviously concerned about whether not they can get to work,

:04:44. > :04:46.whether their children can get to school and that is a big issue.

:04:47. > :04:51.Whether a future detours in some part just to get pupils to school.

:04:52. > :04:54.It is really the situation but what is even more worrying is peoples

:04:55. > :04:59.businesses, people's homes being flooded. And that causes huge amount

:05:00. > :05:01.of money. It is getting to the stage that some people actually cannot get

:05:02. > :05:03.insurance in the area. insurance in the area.

:05:04. > :05:06.It's been a year when political division has made plenty

:05:07. > :05:10.But a piece of legislation proposed by a backbencher has made it

:05:11. > :05:13.Professionals who work with children say it'll make a real difference.

:05:14. > :05:20.Here's our political correspondent Chris Page.

:05:21. > :05:26.Children may not be very interested in what happened at Stormont but the

:05:27. > :05:31.decisions of Government agencies deeply affect young people in need.

:05:32. > :05:36.The social worker who helps children in care was involved in a case with

:05:37. > :05:42.a disabled child. He needed his own to be slightly adapted.

:05:43. > :05:46.Unfortunately health and housing were in conflict with who is

:05:47. > :05:48.responsible at it was to provide this service and as a consequence

:05:49. > :05:53.that child remained in hospital bomb much longer than may have been

:05:54. > :05:56.deemed necessary. So, the children's act aims to stop

:05:57. > :06:00.that sort of bureaucratic problem. The new law means Gottman department

:06:01. > :06:04.is now have a legal duty to cooperate when it comes to children

:06:05. > :06:09.services. They must work together. And they will pool resources, not

:06:10. > :06:17.wrangle over who pays for what. This is about all children. The

:06:18. > :06:19.legislation was proposed by the Green Party's only MLA that all

:06:20. > :06:22.parties directly supported it. The bill would make services were

:06:23. > :06:24.children effective and make sure the Beatles as we put in by children

:06:25. > :06:29.services gets to the children. It's about making some of the good

:06:30. > :06:31.practice happening in Government, practice.

:06:32. > :06:35.The legislation officially become law before Christmas. The new year

:06:36. > :06:45.will show what impact the change will happen children services. There

:06:46. > :06:49.will be a 200 appearance for the team on Saturday. He has scored 67

:06:50. > :06:55.Rory Best captains the side. tries. Rory Best captains the side.

:06:56. > :06:58.Let's get the weather for New Year's Day now with Geoff

:06:59. > :07:04.Hello. Good evening. Heavy New Year. However you are choosing to spend

:07:05. > :07:09.the festivities it is going to be a chilly night. The Met office has a

:07:10. > :07:13.warning for both snow and ice and that came into force at six o'clock

:07:14. > :07:15.this evening and remains in place until tomorrow lunchtime. Those

:07:16. > :07:19.showers across the hills in particular will fall asleep

:07:20. > :07:21.downstairs tonight. If you are out for midnight, it is going to be

:07:22. > :07:26.pretty chilly with temperatures in the towns and cities close to

:07:27. > :07:31.freezing. And Stanton -3 in some moral areas. Still at least the New

:07:32. > :07:34.Year starts as a January day should put up clear and cold and bike to

:07:35. > :07:37.begin with, make the most of that there because 20 long before the

:07:38. > :07:42.rain starts to arrive from the south-west later in the day. In

:07:43. > :07:44.fact, if you take the wider view across the whole of the UK and

:07:45. > :07:47.Ireland you will see that we're getting first dibs on this rain.

:07:48. > :07:52.Across the eastern half of Scotland and England had as much drier and

:07:53. > :07:58.cooler. They are still in those cool heirs of the damages there will be

:07:59. > :08:00.45 degrees. The further you come towards the rain it is like recovery

:08:01. > :08:04.in the temperatures. As you go through the afternoon, that rain

:08:05. > :08:07.will work its way in, the breeze will pick up and highs of five or

:08:08. > :08:11.six or 7 degrees. The warm as that of the day will come quite late on I

:08:12. > :08:15.think as we go through New Year's Day. Not much respite that. Another

:08:16. > :08:20.low pressure system heading in our direction for the weekend. It means

:08:21. > :08:23.we are into some unsettled weather. Which is probably the last thing we

:08:24. > :08:33.need with all of that standing water. Sesame Saturday is going to

:08:34. > :08:35.be another wet and windy day. Not wall-to-wall. There will be some

:08:36. > :08:37.breaks in that rain. Some drier spells. Temperatures will be pretty

:08:38. > :08:39.similar to Friday. Maybe a slight recovery as well post up a pretty

:08:40. > :08:42.soggy start to 2016. soggy start to 2016.

:08:43. > :08:48.Whatever you're up to this evening - stay safe and have a very
