:01:21. > :01:23.For some, it was very bracing indeed.

:01:26. > :01:31.Around 100 people of all ages braved the Irish Sea to raise

:01:32. > :01:36.This is a day when most others are glad to be warm and dry.

:01:37. > :01:50.Plenty of people today are mad enough or man enough to brave it in.

:01:51. > :01:52.It has cleared the head from last night.

:01:53. > :02:00.Don't think I will make it an annual thing but thoroughly enjoyable.

:02:01. > :02:24.We're going to go home and have a nice relaxing bath,

:02:25. > :02:30.Hundreds stayed watching on the sidelines, holding the warm

:02:31. > :02:34.clothes for those mad enough to take a dip.

:02:35. > :02:37.But I'm told, it gets easier the longer you spend in.

:02:38. > :02:42.That certainly seemed to be the case for some.

:02:43. > :02:50.Good to see so many people here today.

:02:51. > :03:07.With a big splash here, one or two little seals did get

:04:05. > :04:16.The game of the day was a seven goal thriller at Shamrock Park.

:04:17. > :04:18.Portadown had a 3-2 advantage but Ballymena battled

:04:19. > :04:31.In the last minute of the game, they produced a winner by Alan

:04:32. > :04:36.Jenkins. His second.

:04:37. > :04:44.4-3 and a happy start to the New Year for Ballymena.

:04:45. > :04:46.The weather now and looking ahead to the next few days,

:04:47. > :05:07.The. The Aurora borealis Britain in an appearance along the coast but

:05:08. > :05:12.tonight is a different story. Rain all this evening and it continues

:05:13. > :05:16.overnight. An early warning is in place tomorrow for heavy rain across

:05:17. > :05:19.the eastern half of Northern Ireland. Through this evening and

:05:20. > :05:22.overnight we can see the rain continuing off and on what the

:05:23. > :05:27.south-easterly breeze developing and all the cloud cover means the

:05:28. > :05:33.night-time temperature is similar to today. Into the weekend, it is a

:05:34. > :05:38.pretty chilly day and we have yellow warning coming in at noon. That is

:05:39. > :05:41.particularly enforced across the eastern half of Northern Ireland.

:05:42. > :05:48.That is where the lane will be heaviest and most persistent. We

:05:49. > :05:53.have an APR of low pressure that has become stalled across south-west

:05:54. > :05:56.England. The winds whip around it and the rain is hitting Scotland and

:05:57. > :06:03.North West England and feeding and across the Irish Sea meaning many

:06:04. > :06:07.counties at risk. The rest of Ireland enjoying a reasonably dry

:06:08. > :06:11.day, at least through daylight hours and by the time we get to the

:06:12. > :06:16.overnight period we start to see some rain is working its way in from

:06:17. > :06:19.the south-west. The old system works its way out eventually only to be

:06:20. > :06:25.replaced by the next Atlantic low and that means we will see a very

:06:26. > :06:28.wet day on Sunday. That could cause problems given the high river levels

:06:29. > :06:32.and the saturated ground that we have at the moment and as we go

:06:33. > :06:37.through Sunday, the rain will be much more widespread soul western

:06:38. > :06:42.counties also seeing their share of the rain through the day. What we

:06:43. > :06:45.really need at the moment is two to three weeks of dry weather to help

:06:46. > :06:47.dry out the ground but at the moment there is no sign of that arriving

:06:48. > :06:48.any time soon.
