:00:00. > 3:59:59Christmas. Merry Christmas. I like your

:00:00. > :00:10.Detectives investigating the murder of a 31-year-old man

:00:11. > :00:14.in North Belfast are still trying to establish how he died.

:00:15. > :00:17.Conor McKee's body was found by his mother at his home

:00:18. > :00:23.Conor McKee's body was removed from the family home

:00:24. > :00:32.He had been found by his mother in an upstairs bedroom at 10:30.

:00:33. > :00:40.This was a particularly brutal murder, and the more traumatic

:00:41. > :00:45.for Conor's mother who found him, a tragedy for his family

:00:46. > :00:47.31-year-old Conor McKee leaves behind

:00:48. > :00:51.At this stage, police say they are keeping an open mind

:00:52. > :00:53.about a motive for his killing but that

:00:54. > :00:58.Conor was on bail from prison on drugs offences.

:00:59. > :01:03.At this stage, we still don't know how this man died.

:01:04. > :01:05.A postmortem examination is due to be carried out

:01:06. > :01:11.The police want to hear from anyone who saw a man

:01:12. > :01:17.in and around Conor's house at around 6:15 yesterday evening.

:01:18. > :01:23.They want to hear from someone who has already been in contact.

:01:24. > :01:26.I would ask that person as a matter of urgency to make contact

:01:27. > :01:34.They have information that can assist our inquiry.

:01:35. > :01:37.Forensic examinations at the family home are continuing this evening.

:01:38. > :01:40.Police say the more information they get, the more likely it will be

:01:41. > :01:49.New government guidance on alcohol consumption says there's no safe

:01:50. > :01:57.A new lower recommended limit has been set and for the first time

:01:58. > :02:02.The guidance also says pregnant women should not take any alcohol.

:02:03. > :02:05.Our reporter David Maxwell has been finding out more.

:02:06. > :02:09.Limits outlined today may surprise some who consider

:02:10. > :02:20.Previously men could drink more than the 14 units advised for women.

:02:21. > :02:25.It equates roughly to seven glasses of wine, six pints of beer

:02:26. > :02:31.The new guidance now explicitly states that no alcohol should be

:02:32. > :02:36.consumed during pregnancy and it pours cold water on suggestions that

:02:37. > :02:49.drinking small amount of alcohol has health benefits.

:02:50. > :02:53.That has never been the medical position of experts.

:02:54. > :02:57.No doctor should ever have been advising a patient to start drinking

:02:58. > :02:58.alcohol. The new guidance reflects not only

:02:59. > :03:01.new science but changes in society with two thirds of alcoholic drinks

:03:02. > :03:04.now consumed in the home. Sharing a bottle of wine

:03:05. > :03:06.between a couple is probably now binge drinking for them because that

:03:07. > :03:09.would be five units each and even if you did that

:03:10. > :03:13.a couple of times a week, you are coming close

:03:14. > :03:16.to the maximum limit for the week. For some, the new limits

:03:17. > :03:19.are too strict. They are unrealistic in terms

:03:20. > :03:25.of the drinking culture these days. People look at what they eat

:03:26. > :03:28.a lot more these days, they are more health conscious

:03:29. > :03:31.but when it comes to a night out, they will not limit

:03:32. > :03:39.themselves to one drink. We are Irish so we drink

:03:40. > :03:42.more than anybody else. 14 units a night might

:03:43. > :03:55.be a better guideline! People need to make informed

:03:56. > :03:59.choices. Even drinking 14 units a week over three days carries low

:04:00. > :04:04.levels of rest, so any amount of Argos all that increases the risk of

:04:05. > :04:07.cancer, that is the evidence we see, the risk associated with cancer is

:04:08. > :04:10.greater than we once thought. The guidance says it is best not

:04:11. > :04:14.to save up units and drink them all in one go and it's important

:04:15. > :04:16.to have alcohol-free days. The actor James Nesbitt says

:04:17. > :04:20.a political deal reached between politicians here last year

:04:21. > :04:21.let down He says the legacy of the past

:04:22. > :04:26.was not properly addressed Mr Nesbitt is a patron

:04:27. > :04:30.of Wave Trauma Centre, which supports people bereaved,

:04:31. > :04:43.injured or traumatised You cannot move on without

:04:44. > :04:49.addressing the issues of the past and looking after people who are

:04:50. > :04:54.still suffering. The work needs to continue, you cannot move forward

:04:55. > :04:56.without fully addressing the ongoing and indelible legacy of the past.

:04:57. > :04:58.The Rivers Agency is set to appear before

:04:59. > :05:01.The body is responsible for regulating

:05:02. > :05:05.Today another company near the lough spoke of the devastating impact

:05:06. > :05:07.the rising waters has had on their business.

:05:08. > :05:10.Our Agriculture and Environment Correspondent, Conor Macauley,

:05:11. > :05:14.has been to an island on the lough that has been

:05:15. > :05:22.Today we got the chance to take to the flooded river,

:05:23. > :05:28.We are going to deliver supplies to the warden of Coney Island

:05:29. > :05:33.The island is disappearing under Peter McClelland's feet.

:05:34. > :05:37.You can see how much the water has encroached onto the island here.

:05:38. > :05:42.Peter says on a good day, there are nine acres of Coney Island

:05:43. > :05:44.but at the moment, there is half that.

:05:45. > :05:48.The big problem is going to be the aftermath, the clean-up.

:05:49. > :05:56.A lot of litter has come in on the wash

:05:57. > :06:03.And it will have to be cleared before visitors arrive in the

:06:04. > :06:07.spring. Where the river runs into Lough Neagh it is beautiful but even

:06:08. > :06:16.on a candy there is no concealing the chaos the waters have caused. In

:06:17. > :06:22.the distance are huge poly tunnels, run by the Donnelly family. They

:06:23. > :06:28.have become victims of the waters. In this tunnel near the river,

:06:29. > :06:29.70,000 lettuces languish in the waters, a loss of thousands of

:06:30. > :06:32.pounds. They will have to be thrown out

:06:33. > :06:47.now, there is no way I nearby GAA ground is damaged --

:06:48. > :06:51.flood. It has not much the social club but it is an inconvenience. --

:06:52. > :06:52.damaged. With regard to social members

:06:53. > :06:55.using the club, they just have not been able to use it

:06:56. > :07:01.for this last day or so. Some of it will be done

:07:02. > :07:06.in the Assembly on Tuesday when the Rivers Agency,

:07:07. > :07:08.responsible for the levels of the lough, will be

:07:09. > :07:10.asked some tough questions by MLAs. Ahead of this weekend's

:07:11. > :07:12.record lottery jackpot, one local man's lottery dream

:07:13. > :07:17.has already come true. Ross Hearst from County Armagh

:07:18. > :07:19.has just won ?4 million Ross Hearst is a man on one

:07:20. > :07:29.serious winning streak. Then I changed it and won another

:07:30. > :07:35.?20 in another shop. Then I changed again and won

:07:36. > :07:42.?10, all in one day. The next day I exchanged it

:07:43. > :07:44.and that is when You must have thought,

:07:45. > :07:50.I'm so lucky winning 50 quid? I couldn't really keep this

:07:51. > :07:58.other one under my hat! He bought the scratchcard

:07:59. > :08:01.in this Lurgan shop. It was the last one

:08:02. > :08:04.in the screen in the shop. I was going to get something to eat

:08:05. > :08:11.and I turned and said, no, I will exchange the one

:08:12. > :08:15.I won the night before. What a boost for a couple

:08:16. > :08:36.expecting their first baby in April. Lucky for some. Straight to the

:08:37. > :08:41.weather. It is another chilly night with widespread frost and a chance

:08:42. > :08:47.of icy patches. Also freezing fog in some places. Overnight rain works

:08:48. > :08:52.its way north across Ireland and that will bring rain along the coast

:08:53. > :08:58.in the early hours. Some could fall asleep or snow on high ground. In

:08:59. > :09:02.the weekend, still a chilly feel and we will see wintry showers through

:09:03. > :09:09.the day, some of those could be heavy for a time and turning to

:09:10. > :09:13.sleet or snow on hills. At the moment an area of low pressure is

:09:14. > :09:18.slowly moving east, around that we have strong winds and it continues

:09:19. > :09:22.to drive in sleet and snow across the Central Belt and the Highlands

:09:23. > :09:28.of Scotland. Across Northern Ireland in the afternoon the showers topping

:09:29. > :09:34.up and temperatures never really hitting going, certainly a chilly

:09:35. > :09:40.feel to the weather. Into Sunday, it's a summer set up, we will keep

:09:41. > :09:44.temperatures on the cool side, there will be wintry showers to the day,

:09:45. > :09:49.maybe at little more right whether appearing through Sunday but it will

:09:50. > :09:56.not have much impact on the temperatures, again feeling chilly,

:09:57. > :10:00.five or six. As we head to the start of next week and the breeze comes

:10:01. > :10:01.around out of the North, temperatures are heading down and it

:10:02. > :10:05.will be properly chilly. Our next BBC Newsline is at 6pm

:10:06. > :10:06.tomorrow on BBC One.
