:00:41. > :00:42.yourselves... With his warm broadcasting style,
:00:43. > :00:44.dry wit and wry reflections on life, over the years Sir Terry attracted
:00:45. > :00:47.a devoted fanbase of millions. And to those who knew him,
:00:48. > :00:59.he was the most special of friends. We went over last Thursday and
:01:00. > :01:04.chatted with the family. It was a very sad day but a very quiet day.
:01:05. > :01:09.Calmness over the family and Terry and I was delighted with that. Great
:01:10. > :01:17.piece. They told me this morning he had gone to his heavenly reward and
:01:18. > :01:18.we are all enormously sad really. A true gentleman and a wonderful
:01:19. > :01:19.broadcaster. He started his broadcasting career
:01:20. > :01:21.at RTE before moving across the water and joining
:01:22. > :01:26.the BBC in the late '60s, where he soon became a popular
:01:27. > :01:29.fixture on both radio and TV. But the Limerick man
:01:30. > :01:40.never forgot his roots. He had a great part to play in our
:01:41. > :01:44.being on these shows, the fact that he was Irish and we were Irish. He
:01:45. > :01:49.never forgot where he came from even though I suppose a lot of people
:01:50. > :01:53.just saw him as a presenter in the UK, I think Kerry was very aware of
:01:54. > :02:00.his roots. I believe Kerry was unique not only as a broadcaster but
:02:01. > :02:02.as a person -- Terry. He was very well read and intelligent.
:02:03. > :02:04.A tireless charity campaigner, he raised millions of pounds
:02:05. > :02:08.And throughout his career, his laid back manner made it seem
:02:09. > :02:10.as though nothing phased him, even when faced with interviewing
:02:11. > :02:21.What about the blues? Is that important to you? Hebrews is still
:02:22. > :02:27.When asked by the Queen how long he had worked at the BBC,
:02:28. > :02:33.he replied, "Your Majesty, I've never worked here."
:02:34. > :02:44.It's been absolutely wonderful. I've had the most wonderful time. I've
:02:45. > :02:49.had a lovely family, a lovely wife. I've had success in the material
:02:50. > :02:58.world. I've done something I want to do. I've led an life. -- ideal life.
