:00:14. > :00:15.to the broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan, who died today at the age of 77

:00:16. > :00:21.Sir Terry started his broadcasting career on RTE before moving

:00:22. > :00:26.to the BBC where he established himself as a broadcasting legend.

:00:27. > :00:28.Our reporter Lisa McAllister has been taking a look

:00:29. > :00:35.Listen, lads, don't panic, don't panic, look, I'll tell

:00:43. > :00:46.With his warm broadcasting style, dry wit and wry reflections on life,

:00:47. > :00:52.over the years Sir Terry attracted a devoted fanbase of millions.

:00:53. > :00:55.And to those who knew him, he was the most special of friends.

:00:56. > :00:57.We went over last Thursday and chatted with the family.

:00:58. > :01:01.It was a very sad day but a very quiet day.

:01:02. > :01:03.There was a great calmness over the family and Terry

:01:04. > :01:12.They phoned me this morning to say he had gone to his heavenly reward

:01:13. > :01:16.and we are all enormously sad really, enormously.

:01:17. > :01:18.But grateful for I have known a true gentleman

:01:19. > :01:23.He started his broadcasting career at RTE before moving

:01:24. > :01:27.across the water and joining the BBC in the late '60s,

:01:28. > :01:31.where he soon became a popular fixture on both radio and TV.

:01:32. > :01:34.But the Limerick man never forgot his roots.

:01:35. > :01:40.He had a great part to play in our being on these shows,

:01:41. > :01:42.the fact that he was Irish and we were Irish.

:01:43. > :01:45.He never forgot where he came from even though I suppose a lot

:01:46. > :01:48.of people just saw him as a presenter in the UK,

:01:49. > :01:53.I think Terry was very aware of his roots.

:01:54. > :01:57.I believe Terry was unique not only as a broadcaster but as a person,

:01:58. > :02:00.because he had the most incredible sense of humour,

:02:01. > :02:03.but he was also a very well read and intelligent man.

:02:04. > :02:06.A tireless charity campaigner, he raised millions of pounds

:02:07. > :02:11.And throughout his career, his laid back manner made it seem

:02:12. > :02:13.as though nothing phased him, even when faced with interviewing

:02:14. > :02:22.The booze is still important, yeah.

:02:23. > :02:31.When asked by the Queen how long he had worked at the BBC,

:02:32. > :02:34.he replied, "Your Majesty, I've never worked here."

:02:35. > :02:45.I've had a loving family, I've had a loving wife.

:02:46. > :02:48.I've had success in the material world.

:02:49. > :03:00.Four prison officers have been injured in an incident involving

:03:01. > :03:05.The Prison Service confirmed a female officer had to receive

:03:06. > :03:09.An investigation into what happened is now underway.

:03:10. > :03:12.A new 20mph speed limit came into force around

:03:13. > :03:18.The zone takes in May Street at the back of City Hall,

:03:19. > :03:21.goes on as far as the Cathedral Quarter before going past the back

:03:54. > :04:00.as Donegal romped to a 17-point win over their out-of-sorts hosts.
