:00:00. > :00:14.The prominent businessman Frank Cushnahan, who's been

:00:15. > :00:16.at the centre of the billion pound Nama property deal

:00:17. > :00:20.controversy, has claimed he was due to be paid a fixer fee in relation

:00:21. > :00:26.The statement is made on a covert recording obtained by the BBC's

:00:27. > :00:28.Spotlight programme, broadcast earlier tonight.

:00:29. > :00:31.Mr Cushnahan, who had been an adviser to Nama,

:00:32. > :00:36.has previously denied that he was due to receive money.

:00:37. > :00:39.Here's our Economics and Business Editor John Campbell.

:00:40. > :00:47.former banker, corporate fixer and Nama advisor.

:00:48. > :00:56.After the financial crisis, it took effective control

:00:57. > :01:02.property loan portfolio in Northern Ireland with more

:01:03. > :01:10.It set up an advisory committee to deal with Northern Ireland issues.

:01:11. > :01:20.Frank Cushnahan was appointed to that committed by the BUP.

:01:21. > :01:27.And the former First Minister praised his role when he appeared

:01:28. > :01:29.before Stormont Committee which was examining the deal.

:01:30. > :01:31.I think the general view of Frank Cushnahan

:01:32. > :01:45.used very considerably as an expert in these areas.

:01:46. > :01:47.I was almost going to use the word guru in backing

:01:48. > :01:52.But unknown to Nama, they had been talking to a US

:01:53. > :01:55.investment fund who were interested in buying the entire

:01:56. > :01:58.Prior to leaving his post, Frank Cushnahan continued

:01:59. > :02:01.He was due to be paid ?5 million if the bid succeeded,

:02:02. > :02:04.but it collapsed when a Nama learned of his role.

:02:05. > :02:06.Another company then bought the loaned portfolio for more

:02:07. > :02:09.Frank Cushnahan was also due to benefit from that deal.

:02:10. > :02:21.But in discussing the deal, is says he was due a fee.

:02:22. > :02:24.in this clip he refers to a solicitor moving money to an account

:02:25. > :02:27.for his benefit. He did that because he

:02:28. > :02:33.was unable to settle. This revelation raises

:02:34. > :02:36.major issues for Nama. Should it have stopped the process

:02:37. > :02:39.entirely when it learned of Frank Cushnahan's role

:02:40. > :02:48.in the proposed sale? And tonight's Spotlight also

:02:49. > :02:53.revealed a property developer has made a complaint of the US financial

:02:54. > :02:56.regulator. He is alleging bribery and corruption and much of what he

:02:57. > :03:05.has to say content and much of what he has to say, turn is the Nama

:03:06. > :03:09.Northern Ireland portfolio. A man shot in Dublin to Knight has died in

:03:10. > :03:13.hospital. He was described as a well-known dissident Republican and

:03:14. > :03:18.were shot while sitting in his car while sitting in a residential area

:03:19. > :03:23.of Finglas. The shooting took place in broad daylight in this housing

:03:24. > :03:28.estate in Finglas in north Dublin. The victim, a man in his 20s, was

:03:29. > :03:35.sitting in a car here on this road. He was a well-known to gardai as a

:03:36. > :03:41.member of the dissident Republican family. A close relative was shot

:03:42. > :03:45.dead in 2012. One witness described hearing six or seven showers and it

:03:46. > :03:52.is believed the victim was hit in the head, throat and chest. --

:03:53. > :04:04.showers. The Volkswagen was seen speeding away from the area. Any

:04:05. > :04:07.witnesses in the maquis Road area should come forward and contact the

:04:08. > :04:13.gardai in confidence. Anybody who saw a silver -grey golf in the

:04:14. > :04:19.Finglas area at the time of the shooting, roughly 2pm today until

:04:20. > :04:23.about 4pm this evening. Gardai not linking to their's shooting with the

:04:24. > :04:29.ongoing gangland feud in the city. This evening it has been confirmed

:04:30. > :04:31.in the victim has died in hospital. -- that the victim has died in

:04:32. > :04:35.hospital. The police have charged two men

:04:36. > :04:38.with the murder of Stephen Carson The 28-year-old was shot in front

:04:39. > :04:42.of his family in a house at Walmer Street off the Ormeau Road

:04:43. > :04:45.last Thursday night. The two men are due

:04:46. > :04:47.in court tomorrow. Detectives are continuing

:04:48. > :04:49.to question a third man The London Mayor Boris Johnson

:04:50. > :04:52.was in Northern Ireland today to announce a ?62 million

:04:53. > :04:57.order with Wrightbus, securing hundreds

:04:58. > :04:59.of jobs. was here just 48 hours

:05:00. > :05:09.after the Prime Minister's visit. David Cameron said thousands

:05:10. > :05:12.of local workers would face an uncertain future

:05:13. > :05:14.if there was an EU exit. Boris Johnson arrived in good

:05:15. > :05:16.spirits and with good news. This is him at a Wrightbus

:05:17. > :05:18.factory in Antrim where he announced that London

:05:19. > :05:21.is to order a further 195 Outside the UK, the firm's top

:05:22. > :05:25.markets are beyond Europe and the Brexit-

:05:26. > :05:26.supporting Mayor says Look at the achievement

:05:27. > :05:33.of the workforce in this United Kingdom factory that has been

:05:34. > :05:36.able to get a huge share Not just in London,

:05:37. > :05:43.but in Singapore and Hong Kong, I think we need

:05:44. > :05:46.to lift our eyes to see the growth markets around the

:05:47. > :05:49.planet and I'm afraid that the sad thing is

:05:50. > :05:52.that they are not in Europe Many Northern Ireland

:05:53. > :05:59.exporters worry that Brexit poses a risk to the economy

:06:00. > :06:02.and in the Prime Minister, Antrim at the weekend,

:06:03. > :06:05.they have an ally. We have privileged access

:06:06. > :06:08.to a market of 500 million people in the free trade

:06:09. > :06:11.single market, and that gives us jobs, investment,

:06:12. > :06:15.the chance to build And we can put that

:06:16. > :06:23.at risk if we leave. But today was about positive

:06:24. > :06:25.views for manufacturing, The Routemaster bus is only

:06:26. > :06:35.about a fifth of what Wrightbus does, but it has become a calling

:06:36. > :06:38.card and not just for the company, As Boris Johnson said,

:06:39. > :06:45.this is a global brand, we have seen it in movies

:06:46. > :06:49.and across the world and in some of the trade missions I was on,

:06:50. > :06:53.we had the bus with us and it has become an icon of

:06:54. > :06:56.British manufacturing. It is a massive endorsement

:06:57. > :06:59.for a really good product. It takes us from 800

:07:00. > :07:03.buses to 1,000 buses, which is the size of

:07:04. > :07:05.order we originally contemplated when we got it back

:07:06. > :07:09.in 2009, and it is brilliant to see Boris Johnson also visited

:07:10. > :07:21.other parts suppliers This place in Lisbon

:07:22. > :07:24.makes PVC products. There was also a firm

:07:25. > :07:26.that produces glass. All in all, last year,

:07:27. > :07:29.Transport for London did ?93 million worth of business with

:07:30. > :07:40.Northern Irish companies. Just a handful of Dail seats

:07:41. > :07:43.have still to be filled With the counting nearly completed

:07:44. > :08:00.the state of the parties With an inconclusive result, there

:08:01. > :08:03.are the talk of the possibility of a grand coalition between the two

:08:04. > :08:08.biggest parties, which is unprecedented.

:08:09. > :08:15.Day three of the Republic selection count. The people have spoken, but

:08:16. > :08:20.it is not quite clear what they have said. The only two parties that

:08:21. > :08:25.would have a working majority as a coalition of Fianna Fail and Fine

:08:26. > :08:29.Gael. Both centrist, with origins in the Civil War of the early 1920s.

:08:30. > :08:35.There is growing opposition with a Fianna Fail to any arrangement with

:08:36. > :08:41.police. Some may see this as a reconcilable similarities. The

:08:42. > :08:45.former Taoiseach is not ruling out an election next year as he sees no

:08:46. > :08:50.prospect of the two parties working together. A grand coalition I do not

:08:51. > :08:57.see. It may be different in a month, but I don't see it now. If Fianna

:08:58. > :09:02.Fail was the big winner in the election, rising almost Lazarus like

:09:03. > :09:07.from the near dead, then Fine Gael and Labour were the losers. Among

:09:08. > :09:13.those not returned was the Fine Gael leader and Minister for Children's

:09:14. > :09:17.Affairs. We have shown that we have a strong backbone in terms of

:09:18. > :09:22.surviving sessions and more people want to see now is a recovery that

:09:23. > :09:28.does it every door and gets into every family home. The Dail and meet

:09:29. > :09:32.on march that tend to choose a speaker for the first time by a

:09:33. > :09:36.secret ballots. If Bertie Ahern is correct, it'll be at least another

:09:37. > :09:42.month before an new Government is formed and a Taoiseach elected.

:09:43. > :09:44.A Catholic priest caught on video appearing to snort cocaine has taken

:09:45. > :09:49.Father Stephen Crossan is reported to have taken the drug in his house

:09:50. > :09:57.The video was obtained by a Sunday newspaper.

:09:58. > :09:58.Chris Buckler has been following the story,

:09:59. > :10:09.It was obtained by the Son On Sunday and they say it was formed last

:10:10. > :10:12.July. It seems Father Stephen Crossan had been out and invited

:10:13. > :10:17.people back to his parochial home where this video was taken. We can

:10:18. > :10:20.show you some of it, it is clear they were drinking and talking to

:10:21. > :10:25.people and at one stage, he is offered by one of the people there a

:10:26. > :10:30.line of powder. We will not showing without specifically, but he is also

:10:31. > :10:36.handed in this footage ?10 notes and he goes over and snorts that drug.

:10:37. > :10:40.It is also claimed by the paper that the group he was with found Nat C

:10:41. > :10:45.memorabilia in his house. They said they found flags, hats and an eagle

:10:46. > :10:55.with a swastika on his mantelpiece. In the defence, for the Crossan has

:10:56. > :10:58.told the press that he is not a nazi and clicks historical artefacts all

:10:59. > :11:01.over the world. He said it only happened on one occasion I was on

:11:02. > :11:06.sick leave at the time and suffering from depression and has taken a

:11:07. > :11:11.leave of absence from the church. We have also had a basement from Bishop

:11:12. > :11:15.of Durham Moor and he said Father Crossan asked for the leave of

:11:16. > :11:21.absence and has had counselling and considering his future. The bishop

:11:22. > :11:27.also said he is concerned for for the Crossan's welfare. -- for the

:11:28. > :11:47.Crossan's welfare. It is so sad because they have so

:11:48. > :11:53.little and they are small communities. It is good to be

:11:54. > :11:57.destroyed. Even the shelters they built. Even they will be gone.

:11:58. > :12:00.And you can see that story from Tara Mills on tomorrow

:12:01. > :12:02.evening's BBC Newsline at half-past six here on BBC One.

:12:03. > :12:11.The weather outlook now, with Cecilia Daly.

:12:12. > :12:22.Tomorrow the 1st of March. Newman, new season. New month new season at

:12:23. > :12:29.full stop spring can still have a wintry night. It will be called,

:12:30. > :12:40.unsettled. Rayner 's stormy winds. Sleet and snow. Just rain tonight.

:12:46. > :12:59.figures. Mild and Dumbo will get colder.

:13:00. > :13:24.There will be a keen breeze. Rayner will settle. Whatever I give up.

:13:25. > :13:37.Cold, and on Wednesday, sleet and snow mixed in with showers. Overall

:13:38. > :13:39.this week, it is unsettled and it will get colder climes and there

:13:40. > :13:41.will be Strong winds. Our next BBC Newsline is at 6:25.am
