:00:25. > :00:33.Discussions are to get underway with the unions.

:00:34. > :00:42.It. We are working with government to see what we can do. We believe

:00:43. > :00:46.government should step in. This is a short-term issue, 5-9 months of

:00:47. > :00:50.training, three invest NI and others. These jobs could be

:00:51. > :00:52.maintained in the long term. A 35-year-old woman's been arrested

:00:53. > :00:55.in connection with the attempted murder of a prison officer

:00:56. > :00:57.in East Belfast last Friday. A bomb partially exploded under

:00:58. > :00:59.the 52-year-old's van Police have been given more time

:01:00. > :01:03.to question three men Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams

:01:04. > :01:10.was one of four politicians The outgoing Taoiseach Enda Kenny

:01:11. > :01:16.was also put forward. The 32nd Dail has been meeting

:01:17. > :01:19.for the first time after last But as expected there's been

:01:20. > :01:23.no government elected. Here's our Dublin

:01:24. > :01:28.correspondent Shane Harrison. A new Dail, talk of a new beginning

:01:29. > :01:33.and lots of new TDs. Though some harder to

:01:34. > :01:37.recognise than others. And this advice to the new members

:01:38. > :01:42.from a veteran politician, even if he's only about to start his

:01:43. > :01:47.second term as a Dail deputy. Remember who you are, and who you

:01:48. > :01:50.represent, we are here for Ireland, not for party political advantage,

:01:51. > :01:55.we are here for the people Inside the chamber,

:01:56. > :02:06.the first serious business - the election of a Ceann Comhairle,

:02:07. > :02:09.or Speaker, for the first time There were four candidates but one

:02:10. > :02:14.winner, Fianna Fail's Sean O'Fearghaill, who signalled that

:02:15. > :02:17.political reform and more powers for ordinary TDs would be the order

:02:18. > :02:23.of the day on his watch. Disagreement is the beating heart

:02:24. > :02:29.of democracy but argument chamber and

:02:30. > :02:34.mutual respect is the foundation of Fine Gael chose their

:02:35. > :02:43.leader, Enda Kenny. Fianna Fail speakers

:02:44. > :02:45.nominated Micheal Martin. As leader of the largest All-Ireland

:02:46. > :02:52.political party and as one of the architects of the Irish peace

:02:53. > :02:56.process, Gerry Adams has consistently displayed qualities of

:02:57. > :03:00.strong leadership, courage and But the radical left said

:03:01. > :03:07.they couldn't support Mr Adams because Sinn Fein imposed austerity

:03:08. > :03:10.on Northern Ireland and got An Independent TD accepted no

:03:11. > :03:16.Taoiseach would be elected today but said the people

:03:17. > :03:21.couldn't wait indefinitely. I don't want to start talking about

:03:22. > :03:27.Civil War politics, the Sinn Fein, IRA or whatever, but 158 people here

:03:28. > :03:37.have been voted in by the people of Ireland to form

:03:38. > :03:38.a government, so do it. are unlikely to be repeated when the

:03:39. > :03:50.Dail sits again. Not all politicians, it seems,

:03:51. > :03:53.are yet musical brothers. The Independent TD Mick Wallace has

:03:54. > :03:56.called for any new government in the Republic to hold an inquiry

:03:57. > :03:59.into the Nama controversy. He first made allegations

:04:00. > :04:01.about fixers fees paid out in relation to the sale

:04:02. > :04:05.of Nama's Northern Ireland portfolio In an interview with tonight's

:04:06. > :04:09.The View programme he said all the parties must stand

:04:10. > :04:24.by their pledge to Fianna Fail called for an enquiry.

:04:25. > :04:28.Sinn Fein called for an enquiry. The majority of the Independence called

:04:29. > :04:32.for an enquiry. The only ones who didn't want an enquiry or so they

:04:33. > :04:41.said were thinning guile and labour. They will not be a new government

:04:42. > :04:43.without some people -- Fine Gael. If they do not initiate an enquiry they

:04:44. > :04:45.have no credibility. And you can see more of that

:04:46. > :04:49.interview on the View which is live Two men charged in connection

:04:50. > :04:53.with the theft of a fire engine in Larne at the weekend have

:04:54. > :04:55.been released on bail. The vehicle crashed into a number

:04:56. > :04:58.of homes and cars in the town Like a trailer for the next Hangover

:04:59. > :05:06.movie - that's how a solicitor for one of two men accused

:05:07. > :05:09.of stealing a fire engine from Larne fire station described

:05:10. > :05:11.the destruction in the town. The two men accused of involvement

:05:30. > :05:33.lights and that the men had been involved in making 20 hoax calls

:05:34. > :05:38.to the Fire Service. The court was told one

:05:42. > :06:00.said he hoped A woman has been assaulted during a

:06:01. > :06:05.burglary in North Belfast. Three men broke into a house at around 11pm

:06:27. > :06:33.My child would not be alive today without them.

:06:34. > :06:36.Now they're battling for their own survival.

:06:37. > :06:38.Yesterday, Fasa announced it was effectively closing -

:06:39. > :06:46.In its last set of accounts, questions were raised

:06:47. > :06:52.An organisation which is the victim of our own success, we have grown to

:06:53. > :06:56.deal with the demand on the ground with our communities and we have had

:06:57. > :06:59.to use our own funding to cover those services and can no longer

:07:00. > :07:20.We have significant job losses. There are countless service users

:07:21. > :07:24.whose services have been taken away from them very suddenly. This will

:07:25. > :07:30.be a crisis for all those individuals.

:07:31. > :07:33.Last year, it opened its most ambitious project to date -

:07:34. > :07:34.the Nightingale Centre in East Belfast,

:07:35. > :07:41.One parent, who didn't want his own voice used,

:07:42. > :07:43.You're not treated in there as a number and you're not given

:07:44. > :07:48.You're treated as a child, as a human being.

:07:49. > :07:50.How bad were things with your child before he went there?

:07:51. > :07:53.My child before he went to Fasa was taking drugs on a weekly,

:07:54. > :07:56.Diazepam, sleeping tablets, blues, yellows, things like that.

:07:57. > :07:59.When he started talking to Fasa and engaging with Fasa

:08:00. > :08:01.and feeling safe with them, he went off the drugs completely.

:08:02. > :08:05.Meetings will continue over the coming days to try

:08:06. > :08:09.and save the group, but anyone who needs help now is being asked

:08:10. > :08:15.to contact Lifeline Counselling Services or the Samaritans.

:08:45. > :08:50.how she found her injured pet lying at the front door.

:08:51. > :08:52.The vet said what he thinks has happened is that they threw

:08:53. > :08:58.an accelerant up his back and then they lit him,

:08:59. > :09:02.so when they lit him, the fire poofed out over him and put

:09:03. > :09:06.itself out, but all the damage is on his back legs,

:09:07. > :09:14.on his back, he has no fur or whiskers on that ear there.

:09:15. > :09:18.While Tiger's vet has been able to treat the burns and provide pain

:09:19. > :09:21.relief, police say it's hard to understand why someone would do

:09:22. > :09:34.I had to phone my childminder and tell her I'd be late.

:09:35. > :09:40.I didn't know if he would come home last night, but thankfully he's

:09:41. > :09:44.home, and with a lot of love and care and possibly his friends,

:09:45. > :09:51.Just a few hours ago, it was to hard to know

:11:02. > :11:13.I would like to withdraw those remarks and apologise.

:11:14. > :11:18.I made a clumsy attempt to bring a bit of levity to the discussion and

:11:19. > :11:22.I apologise for any offence caused. He said he didn't intend to offend

:11:23. > :11:24.anyone, especially anyone going through the trauma

:11:47. > :11:50.Celsius on the North It will continue mild

:11:51. > :11:55.over the next few days, but there's going to be

:11:56. > :11:57.about more cloud around, The cloudier skies tonight

:11:58. > :12:01.will mean a milder night. A few spots of rain here and there,

:12:02. > :12:05.but most places will stay Unfortunately we have some rain

:12:06. > :12:08.in the forecast tomorrow, but it should dry up

:12:09. > :12:10.for many places this To begin with, some dry

:12:11. > :12:17.weather in the east. Maybe even a bit of brightness

:12:18. > :12:20.for a time, but it will become rather cloudy and damp

:12:21. > :12:22.from the West. Lots of low cloud developing

:12:23. > :12:24.over the hills as well. Some brightness Dublin

:12:25. > :12:25.southwards tomorrow morning. Otherwise some patchy rain breaking

:12:26. > :12:28.out across the Republic of Ireland. Rain slowly nudging

:12:29. > :12:30.into the West of Scotland. For many parts of Britain,

:12:31. > :12:32.maybe some early fog, but otherwise it should be

:12:33. > :12:35.a fine day although still quite chilly, particularly

:12:36. > :12:37.across parts of East Anglia. Tomorrow afternoon is mild,

:12:38. > :12:38.cloudy, damp in Northern Could be a fairly keen breeze

:12:39. > :12:42.in places, but it is coming up We keep the mild weather

:12:43. > :12:46.on Friday night. Still some dampness around

:12:47. > :12:47.initially on Saturday, Generally quite cloudy in most

:12:48. > :12:51.places, but hints of practice will perhaps even

:12:52. > :12:52.sunshine for Belfast On Sunday there is more

:12:53. > :12:56.chance of seeing some Probably still quite

:12:57. > :12:58.cloudy initially, but temperatures when the sun comes out

:12:59. > :13:01.should hit the low teens. At the moment it looks

:13:02. > :13:02.like high-pressure will keep things dry as we move

:13:03. > :13:15.into the beginning of next week. Our next BBC Newsline is at 6:25am
