:00:16. > :00:17.Good evening and welcome to BBC Newsline.

:00:18. > :00:21.Official events to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising

:00:22. > :00:24.began in Dublin today with a wreath-laying ceremony

:00:25. > :00:30.The Irish President has appealed to people in Northern Ireland

:00:31. > :00:33.to approach this weekend's events with a spirit of generosity.

:00:34. > :00:48.It was a state occasion involving the president the military,

:00:49. > :00:54.politicians and the public. All gathered in Dublin's Garden of

:00:55. > :00:56.Remembrance. We are gathered here today to remember and acknowledge

:00:57. > :01:03.all those who gave their lives in the cause of Irish freedom.

:01:04. > :01:09.Particularly those who died during the 1916 Easter Rising. The Irish

:01:10. > :01:15.president Michael Higgins led the tributes. It was here that the Queen

:01:16. > :01:18.laid a wreath nine years ago. The Irish authorities hope that this

:01:19. > :01:25.weekend's events don't hinder cross-border relations. I hope that

:01:26. > :01:33.people in Northern Ireland will approach these commemorations... And

:01:34. > :01:37.for example, as we commemorate other events, that we do so generously.

:01:38. > :01:42.This was a solemn service of remembrance. But on the nearby

:01:43. > :01:49.streets of Dublin there was more of a sense of celebration amidst the

:01:50. > :01:55.commemoration. The mood is good, everyone is happy. And it is going

:01:56. > :02:02.to be a fabulous day tomorrow. There will be no trouble because everyone

:02:03. > :02:11.is in a good mood. My grandfather was in the front, my grandfather was

:02:12. > :02:16.there. The focus now moves to the main parade of the commemoration

:02:17. > :02:17.outside the GPL tomorrow. More than 4000 people are expected on the

:02:18. > :02:20.streets of Dublin tomorrow. And Mark joins me now

:02:21. > :02:22.from O'Connell Street, and Mark I can see behind

:02:23. > :02:34.you the stage is almost set Yes, everything is under control

:02:35. > :02:38.apart from the weather. It has been a very wet afternoon, which was bad

:02:39. > :02:42.news for the Irish Army when they were rehearsing here this afternoon.

:02:43. > :02:46.They're still rehearsing, still putting the final preparations in

:02:47. > :02:49.place. The thing that strikes you walking around Dublin today is the

:02:50. > :02:54.number of people here from Canada, from America, from Glasgow. I bumped

:02:55. > :02:57.into someone from every county in Northern Ireland and every county in

:02:58. > :03:02.the Republic of Ireland as well. It will be a big day tomorrow. Around

:03:03. > :03:04.300,000 people on the streets, and they are all hoping for one thing,

:03:05. > :03:08.that it stays dry. BBC Northern Ireland has full

:03:09. > :03:10.coverage of the commemoration Donna Traynor will be presenting

:03:11. > :03:15.a live programme from O'Connell That starts here on BBC One

:03:16. > :03:21.at 11.25 in the morning. BBC Radio Ulster will

:03:22. > :03:31.also be on air live. And our news website has a live

:03:32. > :03:33.screening of tomorrow's event. And if you're looking for background

:03:34. > :03:39.information and special reports on the 1916 Easter Rising

:03:40. > :03:41.you can find that all Moving on to football,

:03:42. > :03:50.and the Republic of Ireland beat Switzerland one-nil last night

:03:51. > :03:53.in an international friendly at the Aviva Stadium,

:03:54. > :04:14.but there was also an injury scare Ireland! Anyone later this seat

:04:15. > :04:17.missed the only goal of the game as Kieran Clarke of Aston Villa nodded

:04:18. > :04:21.home from close range after two minutes against Switzerland. But

:04:22. > :04:26.then there was a moment of anxiety as Kevin Doyle was caught by the

:04:27. > :04:29.Norwich defender. The striker would have to undergo surgery to stage a

:04:30. > :04:32.gaping wound to his leg but has since revealed he is confident he

:04:33. > :04:38.can resume running in a matter of weeks. It could have been 2-0 just

:04:39. > :04:42.before half-time. And the Swiss are also heading to the finals in France

:04:43. > :04:47.this summer, and they almost grabbed a late equaliser. But it finished

:04:48. > :04:50.1-0, and Martin O'Neill turned to spot to Tuesday night and Slovakia.

:04:51. > :04:52.Golf, and at the World Matchplay Championships in Austin,

:04:53. > :04:55.Texas, Rory McIlroy has beaten Zach Johnston

:04:56. > :05:06.The defending champion won against the American and now faces

:05:07. > :05:09.Chris Kirk in the last eight this evening.

:05:10. > :05:11.Now here's Barra Best with the weather forecast

:05:12. > :05:20.It is a windy end to the day with severe gales to the north coast. The

:05:21. > :05:26.Met Office has issued a yellow warning. There could be gusts of

:05:27. > :05:28.more than 60 mph. We will have a few scattered showers, turning chilly

:05:29. > :05:34.when the sky clears. Temperatures will fall close to freezing. There

:05:35. > :05:37.were bands be wintry mix in high ground areas, especially in the

:05:38. > :05:41.West. Easter Sunday will be unsettled with the flow was

:05:42. > :05:43.scattered showers. Mainly in the West, but eventually they will move

:05:44. > :05:47.eastwards through the course of the morning. If you are travelling,

:05:48. > :05:49.scattered showers will affect practically everywhere across

:05:50. > :05:54.Ireland and Britain. In between there will be some sunny gaps.

:05:55. > :05:58.South-westerly winds, temperatures up into high single figures, perhaps

:05:59. > :06:02.12 degrees towards the south-east of England. The showers stay with us

:06:03. > :06:07.into tomorrow evening with some sunny gaps finishing the day for a

:06:08. > :06:12.few places. Easter Monday should be not too bad. We are expecting a fair

:06:13. > :06:16.out of dry weather but there will always be the threat of some wet

:06:17. > :06:22.patches. Westerly winds, nine or 10 degrees. It is settled through next

:06:23. > :06:25.week with low pressure in control. Good news after tonight, it will be

:06:26. > :06:26.brighter for longer as the clocks go forward.

:06:27. > :06:30.BBC Newsline will be back tomorrow night at 6:50pm.
