:01:00. > :01:04.the plight of Irish nationalists here. It prompted a reaction online
:01:05. > :01:09.and the quickly down. This morning, the Sinn Fein president held a news
:01:10. > :01:13.conference to apologise for what he said was a I acknowledge that the N
:01:14. > :01:21.word was inappropriate, I apologise for that. I stand over the context
:01:22. > :01:27.and substance of the point that I was making which is the parallel
:01:28. > :01:35.between the plight of people here in Ireland and the struggle of people
:01:36. > :01:40.of African American extraction. Former republican prisoner Tim
:01:41. > :01:45.Branigan said politicians need to be more careful about the language they
:01:46. > :01:48.use. The word itself was racist but I wouldn't call Gerry Adams a
:01:49. > :01:53.racist. You know, it was a one off remark that he got wrong, and it is
:01:54. > :01:58.great to hear that he apologise this morning for it. So, not for the
:01:59. > :02:02.first time Gerry Adams has been forced to issue a public apology
:02:03. > :02:06.because of controversial remarks he made, and once again his political
:02:07. > :02:11.opponents north and south have been quick to question his credibility.
:02:12. > :02:14.Not so within Sinn Fein, where Gerry Adams is very much considered still
:02:15. > :02:19.more of an asset than a liability. A 23-year-old man has appeared
:02:20. > :02:22.in court charged with rape. It follows an attack on a woman
:02:23. > :02:27.at Peatlands Park near Dungannon last Wednesday.
:02:28. > :02:40.Sara Neill reports. James Wright, of Dairylea Road in
:02:41. > :02:44.Dungannon was bought in and out of the Magistrates' Court under a
:02:45. > :02:54.blanket. The defence described that I does as being of -- their client
:02:55. > :02:57.as being of extremely low intellect. James Wright had cycled round the
:02:58. > :03:00.victim who was walking her dog before raping her at three o'clock
:03:01. > :03:07.in the afternoon. It is alleged he put his hand over her mouth before

:03:13. > :03:17.asked him for his name but he refused, saying I can't tell you

:03:27. > :03:30.psychiatrist who deemed unfit to be detained and later charged. A
:03:31. > :03:34.bicycle and high visibility jacket and matching the description given
:03:35. > :03:38.the victim were recovered from the accused's home, just a short
:03:39. > :03:41.distance from peatlands Park. Detectives are still searching for a
:03:42. > :03:49.bicycle helmet. District Judge Peter King refused bail because of what he
:03:50. > :03:50.said were very serious allegations. Wright was remanded in custody until
:03:51. > :03:52.later this month. Hundreds of people have attended
:03:53. > :03:54.the funeral of a nun from Londonderry who was killed
:03:55. > :03:56.in the Ecuador earthquake. Sister Clare Theresa Crockett died
:03:57. > :03:58.when a school collapsed. Her funeral was held
