:00:00. > :00:09.A leading member of Sinn Fein has said the Ulster Unionists

:00:10. > :00:11.and the SDLP should go into opposition if they're not

:00:12. > :00:15.prepared to go into the next Executive to govern.

:00:16. > :00:17.Ahead of negotiations set to begin at Stormont

:00:18. > :00:19.tomorrow the two parties say they will consider what's

:00:20. > :00:23.in the new programme for government before deciding.

:00:24. > :00:30.Here's our political correspondent Gareth Gordon.

:00:31. > :00:38.A new era is about to blossom. Stormont is ready to welcome its

:00:39. > :00:41.next intake. Tomorrow, these parties will be around a different

:00:42. > :00:42.next intake. Tomorrow, these parties trying to agree a programme for

:00:43. > :00:46.government. But who trying to agree a programme for

:00:47. > :00:52.enough to make it to the Executive table? The pollsters delivered

:00:53. > :00:59.disappointing results for the Ulster Unionists and Sinn Fein. So should

:01:00. > :01:01.they the opposition? I hope they went to the election to govern, not

:01:02. > :01:07.to be in opposition. If they went to the election to govern, not

:01:08. > :01:11.be in opposition, go outside and the in opposition. I don't fear them

:01:12. > :01:14.being in opposition. So will they? We

:01:15. > :01:15.being in opposition. So will they? tomorrow morning and talking to the

:01:16. > :01:19.other parties but we want to tomorrow morning and talking to the

:01:20. > :01:23.what the content of the programme for government is. If the content is

:01:24. > :01:26.strong and deliver some of our key policy

:01:27. > :01:28.strong and deliver some of our key government. If it does not, we will

:01:29. > :01:32.need government. If it does not, we will

:01:33. > :01:38.not going in to see government. If it does not, we will

:01:39. > :01:42.trust the people and if it is a forward-thinking programme and if we

:01:43. > :01:49.can trust the other parties. But after not making the

:01:50. > :01:51.can trust the other parties. But forecast, the Alliance wonder

:01:52. > :01:57.whether they will even be part of the negotiations? We will not be

:01:58. > :02:01.there as of right. We would want to be there being able to influence

:02:02. > :02:07.what happens in the room. But it depends whether other parties will

:02:08. > :02:12.want us to be there. It's not for me to dole out munificence to Naomi

:02:13. > :02:16.Long or anyone else. But a week ago you seem to suggest... They are

:02:17. > :02:20.presently an Executive party so I imagine it would be part of the

:02:21. > :02:24.discussions. 29 brand-new MLAs will be part of

:02:25. > :02:26.the next Assembly. Whether anything else will change, we will soon find

:02:27. > :02:28.out. Sinn Fein have condemned

:02:29. > :02:30.the DUP MP Gregory Campbell for comments he made on Facebook

:02:31. > :02:33.about the re-election of Sinn Fein Mr Campbell congratulated Mr

:02:34. > :02:37.McCartney on his excellent election

:02:38. > :02:39.results and said he was breaking the habit of a lifetime

:02:40. > :02:43.by sending him best wishes. He said Mr McCartney had been more

:02:44. > :02:46.successful at electioneering Sinn Fein have called on Mr

:02:47. > :03:01.Campbell to withdraw the comments. We are talking about going in with

:03:02. > :03:06.the DUP to discuss a programme for government and have mutual trust.

:03:07. > :03:09.But Gregory Campbell is a fool. And he is away now to Westminster to

:03:10. > :03:14.retire and I wish him well staying out of the way. There is a lot of

:03:15. > :03:20.contrived anger around this. I think it was a throwaway, joking remark. I

:03:21. > :03:26.think a lot of those who are expressing fury were a lot less low

:03:27. > :03:29.inexpressive inferior and outrage at some of the Twitter comments that

:03:30. > :03:32.have been made recently by the eccentric president of Sinn Fein.

:03:33. > :03:35.The RNLI has issued a warning about taking unsuitable boats

:03:36. > :03:38.to sea, after a father and son were rescued from Strangford Lough

:03:39. > :03:39.when their inflatable dinghy became swamped.

:03:40. > :03:42.The two men got into trouble more than three miles off the shore

:03:43. > :03:47.Their cries were heard on land, and the pair were brought to shore

:03:48. > :03:51.The RNLI say the men had a lucky escape and their inflatable dinghy

:03:52. > :03:54.was more suited to a swimming pool than the sea.

:03:55. > :03:57.Swimmer Bethany Firth has taken a second silver medal

:03:58. > :04:13.at the Paralympic European Championships, in Funchal

:04:14. > :04:17.Russia's Valeria Shabalina set a new world record in their 200

:04:18. > :04:19.metres individual medley final, but for Firth it was

:04:20. > :04:23.She also won silver in her 100 metres breaststroke

:04:24. > :04:27.A look ahead now to a story coming up on BBC Newsline this week -

:04:28. > :04:29.and with the details, here's our north-west

:04:30. > :04:39.I'm here at Old Trafford following the journey of one young lad from

:04:40. > :04:44.Strabane who had the talent to make it big at the Theatre of dreams. But

:04:45. > :04:51.injury halted his career and he lost his life at just 26. That is the

:04:52. > :04:53.agent of the story on BBC newsline. -- the Adrian Doherty story.

:04:54. > :04:55.See more of that special story from Keiron Tourish

:04:56. > :04:57.on the programme this week, starting at 6:30.

:04:58. > :04:59.Well, the sunshine is due to last into the new week.

:05:00. > :05:17.The warmer spell of the year is upon us. A very mild night. You would

:05:18. > :05:21.need the winter duvet. From tomorrow, we are expecting a dry

:05:22. > :05:25.week and it will be warmer. The highest temperature is likely during

:05:26. > :05:30.the first half because we have this warmer air mass coming over us.

:05:31. > :05:35.Tomorrow, in lad, way from the coast, we are likely to see highs

:05:36. > :05:41.and 22 degrees. Well above average for the time of year. The sun is

:05:42. > :05:46.strong at this time of year. We are expecting high UV levels. You will

:05:47. > :05:51.need the sun cream and the hat handy. From the beginning of the

:05:52. > :05:55.day, plenty of blue sky and an offshore breeze making it feel cool

:05:56. > :06:01.in coastal areas. Inland, it will feel quite pleasant. The further

:06:02. > :06:05.south you are, a little bit of cloud coming into parts of Munster and the

:06:06. > :06:12.south-west Wales and the south of England. That will bring some wet

:06:13. > :06:16.weather. North of that, blue skies. For us tomorrow, not a bad evening,

:06:17. > :06:23.probably the best one for the first barbecue of the year. As for

:06:24. > :06:27.Tuesday, not a bad picture at all. Maybe a little bit more cloudy for

:06:28. > :06:31.parts of the south-west coast. Possibly a bit damp but further

:06:32. > :06:38.north, a dry, bright picture with of sunshine. We hold onto the onshore

:06:39. > :06:43.breezes and it will feel a bit cooler in coastal areas. As for the

:06:44. > :06:48.rest of the week, it is set to stay dry. We hold onto temperatures above

:06:49. > :06:52.normal. A look ahead to the weekend suggests the cooler air will move in

:06:53. > :06:57.to bring temperatures back to what they should be for the time of you.

:06:58. > :06:59.Stay tuned to the forecast and listen online as well.

:07:00. > :07:04.Our next BBC Newsline bulletin is at 10:20pm.

:07:05. > :07:08.From everyone on the BBC Newsline team, enjoy your evening.
