:00:00. > :00:09.A leading member of Sinn Fein has said the Ulster Unionists

:00:10. > :00:12.and the SDLP should go into opposition if they're not

:00:13. > :00:16.prepared to go into the new Executive to govern.

:00:17. > :00:19.Ahead of negotiations set to begin at Stormont tomorrow the two parties

:00:20. > :00:21.say they will consider what's in the new programme

:00:22. > :00:27.Here's our political correspondent Gareth Gordon.

:00:28. > :00:34.Stormont is ready to welcome its next intake.

:00:35. > :00:37.Tomorrow, these parties will be around a different table

:00:38. > :00:40.trying to agree a programme for government.

:00:41. > :00:44.But who will last long enough to make it to the Executive table?

:00:45. > :00:46.The polls delivered disappointing results

:00:47. > :00:56.for the Ulster Unionists and Sinn Fein.

:00:57. > :01:03.I hope they went to the Executive to govern, not to be in opposition.

:01:04. > :01:06.If they want to be in opposition, go outside it and be in opposition.

:01:07. > :01:08.I don't fear them being in opposition.

:01:09. > :01:12.We will be going up to the Assembly tomorrow morning

:01:13. > :01:15.and talking to the other parties but we want to see what the content

:01:16. > :01:31.-- what the content of 40 programme government aid. -- what the content

:01:32. > :01:33.of the programme for government is. If the content is strong

:01:34. > :01:36.and delivers some of our key policy pledges, we will

:01:37. > :01:38.be in government. If it does not, we will need

:01:39. > :01:40.to consider our position. We will not be going in to see

:01:41. > :01:43.about the discussions. We will see if we can trust

:01:44. > :01:46.the people and if it is a forward-thinking programme and if we

:01:47. > :01:49.can trust the other parties. But after not making

:01:50. > :01:51.the gains they had forecast, Alliance wonder whether

:01:52. > :01:53.they will even be part We would want to be there

:01:54. > :01:58.being able to influence But it depends whether other parties

:01:59. > :02:02.will want us to be there. It's not for me to dole out

:02:03. > :02:05.munificence to Naomi Long But a week ago you

:02:06. > :02:16.seemed to suggest... They are presently an Executive

:02:17. > :02:23.party so I imagine they would be part

:02:24. > :02:24.of the discussions. 29 brand-new MLAs will be part

:02:25. > :02:27.of the next Assembly. Whether anything else will change,

:02:28. > :02:30.we will soon find out. Sinn Fein have condemned

:02:31. > :02:32.the DUP MP Gregory Campbell for comments he made on Facebook

:02:33. > :02:35.about the re-election of Sinn Fein Mr Campbell congratulated Mr

:02:36. > :02:37.McCartney on his excellent election results,

:02:38. > :02:40.saying he was breaking the habit of a lifetime

:02:41. > :02:43.by sending him best wishes. He said Mr McCartney had been more

:02:44. > :02:46.successful at electioneering Sinn Fein have called on Mr

:02:47. > :02:53.Campbell to withdraw the comments. We are talking about

:02:54. > :02:55.going in with the DUP to discuss a programme for

:02:56. > :03:00.government and have mutual trust. And he is away now to Westminster to

:03:01. > :03:06.retire and I wish him well staying There is a lot of contrived

:03:07. > :03:11.anger around this. I think it was a throwaway,

:03:12. > :03:15.joking remark. I think a lot of those

:03:16. > :03:20.who are expressing fury were at some of the Twitter comments that

:03:21. > :03:26.have been made recently by the eccentric president of

:03:27. > :03:30.Sinn Fein. A look ahead now to a story coming
