:00:19. > :00:21.Good evening, the headlines on BBC Newsline: The negotiations

:00:22. > :00:24.on forming a Government start tomorrow.

:00:25. > :00:36.The DUP and bike in the Stormont. The two will be joining them around

:00:37. > :00:40.the table? The negotiations around forming a Government start tomorrow.

:00:41. > :00:41.Already, our new MLAs have been finding their way around Parliament

:00:42. > :00:44.buildings. A protestor climbs onto an oil drill

:00:45. > :00:46.as the standoff continues The Ashers gay cake case goes

:00:47. > :00:51.to the Appeal Court and their lawyer says staff could not sin

:00:52. > :00:53.by going against their consciences. Also on the programme tonight:

:00:54. > :00:56.The plane that sailed rather than flew to its new home

:00:57. > :01:07.on a Sligo campsite. Bolster rugby's season has burst

:01:08. > :01:09.into life and they are now just one step away from the final.

:01:10. > :01:19.people have been making the most of the warmest day of the year!

:01:20. > :01:21.Negotiations on a what a new Government at Stormont

:01:22. > :01:31.will look like are set to begin tomorrow morning.

:01:32. > :01:34.It's expected that Arlene Foster and Martin McGuinness will be

:01:35. > :01:35.re-appointed as First and Deputy First Ministers.

:01:36. > :01:38.Let's see the make up of the MLAs benches and the likely shape

:01:39. > :01:48.The first meeting of the new Assembly is not until Thursday, but

:01:49. > :01:53.inside here we can get a really good idea of what is going to look like.

:01:54. > :01:59.The largest party, here they come, the DUP, 38 feet again. As for Sinn

:02:00. > :02:04.Fein, 28 seats this time, that is one down on five years ago. As for

:02:05. > :02:10.the other parties, the Ulster Unionists stay on 16, the SDLP are

:02:11. > :02:15.down to on 12 and the Alliance Party stay at eight seats and the Green

:02:16. > :02:19.Party have doubled their representation to two, people before

:02:20. > :02:24.profit, the new kids on the block, they have two seats, the TUV leader

:02:25. > :02:30.Jim Allister is bike as as the independent Claire Sugden. This is

:02:31. > :02:34.the state of the parties in the new Stormont 2016. But how do all the

:02:35. > :02:41.seats translate into seats at the executive table? Let us have a look.

:02:42. > :02:46.As you can see, there are now fewer seats around the Executive table,

:02:47. > :02:50.because we have fewer departments. The one thing hasn't changed, the

:02:51. > :02:53.First Minister, there she is, Arlene Foster is back. Martin McGuinness is

:02:54. > :02:58.also back as Deputy First Minister. The DUP will have three other

:02:59. > :03:01.ministries, Sinn Fein will have two. The Ulster Unionists will be

:03:02. > :03:06.entitled to one and the SDLP will be entitled to one as well. Will they

:03:07. > :03:18.take them? If they decide not to go into opposition, their seats will go

:03:19. > :03:21.to other parties. As you can see, we have one -- a spare seat he would

:03:22. > :03:23.likely to go to the Alliance Party which is the justice ministry. It

:03:24. > :03:26.was handed to the Alliance Party last time a cross community vote and

:03:27. > :03:29.we think that is likely to happen again. But we will see. So this is a

:03:30. > :03:31.possible shape of the new Executive table. Of course, we do not know yet

:03:32. > :03:34.which party will take which minister, will be health, education

:03:35. > :03:35.or finance? But we do know that Arlene Foster will have the first

:03:36. > :03:36.pic. At Stormont it was moving-in day

:03:37. > :03:39.for the new politicians They don't officially

:03:40. > :03:42.become MLAs until Thursday But today they were shown

:03:43. > :03:45.around the building Here's our political

:03:46. > :03:56.correspondent, Gareth Gordon. It has been a very long journey to

:03:57. > :04:04.Stormont for this veteran socialist, in more ways than one. I came back

:04:05. > :04:07.here today and one of the reasons is that I prefer travelling by rail. If

:04:08. > :04:12.I wanted to be reasonably certain that I'd reach displaced by 10am, I

:04:13. > :04:17.would have to get the train from Derry at 6am. That is utterly

:04:18. > :04:23.ridiculous in 2016. So that is one of the things I will be pursuing.

:04:24. > :04:27.This pair are old adversaries from days gone by as interviewer and

:04:28. > :04:37.interviewee. Today's discussion, the Stormont dress code. Personally, I

:04:38. > :04:40.do think wearing a tie makes you a better legislator. So I'm pretty

:04:41. > :04:45.relaxed about it, but I'll go with the flow in terms of the team and we

:04:46. > :04:50.will discuss it and see whether they ask for real change and there will

:04:51. > :04:53.make a decision. -- I do not think wearing a tie. Upstairs, under the

:04:54. > :04:56.new member was being shown the ropes, Claire Bailey gets the office

:04:57. > :05:07.vacated by the Ukip leader David McNarry. Rather, he just did not

:05:08. > :05:12.stand for election. But there's a handy guide showing those who did

:05:13. > :05:15.and got elected. I'll be sitting in between Eamon McCann and Jim

:05:16. > :05:20.Allister, so I will need to learn that the ropes really fast to

:05:21. > :05:24.maximise a time. This new Sinn Fein MLA was a research scientist in

:05:25. > :05:28.agriculture and food before becoming a full-time politician. One of the

:05:29. > :05:33.things I did during my campaign was publish a strategy for the cause way

:05:34. > :05:37.area and it is about looking at development of the indigenous

:05:38. > :05:42.industry that there and expanding on that, so that's something I'll be

:05:43. > :05:46.pushing an hour. So we will all this new blood help improve relations?

:05:47. > :05:48.Whenever I talk to people on the doorsteps, they said they wanted a

:05:49. > :05:53.different type of politics, they were sick of what was going on years

:05:54. > :05:57.ago in Stormont weather was a lot of fighting and bickering. They want to

:05:58. > :06:00.see a new generation of all editions working on their behalf. The flag of

:06:01. > :06:04.the EU is flying over the building today to mark Europe today, a

:06:05. > :06:09.reminder that one election may be over, but another poll is just

:06:10. > :06:15.around the corner. The only one who thinks the UK should vote to leave

:06:16. > :06:20.the EU. If we look at the issues raised on the doorsteps with us,

:06:21. > :06:25.it's really did confirm we took absolutely the right position in

:06:26. > :06:30.relation to Brexit. A discussion for another day.

:06:31. > :06:32.Our Political Editor Mark Devenport is at Stormont this evening.

:06:33. > :06:35.Mark, you've been speaking to the First and Deputy First Ministers.

:06:36. > :06:45.A pretty good mood and no doubt some of that was down to the weather, it

:06:46. > :06:49.has been as sunny here as everywhere else in Northern Ireland, but in

:06:50. > :06:53.Arlene Foster's case, she had more reason to feel elated, because

:06:54. > :06:56.whilst they lost an MLA in one constituency, they gained one in

:06:57. > :07:00.another and she came back with 38, which was exactly the same number

:07:01. > :07:03.they had before. This was the first campaign as a party leader and it

:07:04. > :07:06.was a very personalised campaign, so she took a great degree of

:07:07. > :07:10.satisfaction from that. They're moving onto those talks on forming a

:07:11. > :07:14.Government and I asked a Government and I ask the whole underachieving

:07:15. > :07:17.they would take? We've set ourselves 14 days to have discussions around

:07:18. > :07:21.the programme for Government and that doesn't necessarily mean we

:07:22. > :07:25.will use those 14 days, I hope that we don't have to use them all and we

:07:26. > :07:29.can get on to doing the job and work we've been set by the people. Will

:07:30. > :07:32.Stormont be healthier if there's an opposition in this Monday? It's

:07:33. > :07:36.entirely a matter for the other parties. Of course, in the past,

:07:37. > :07:39.they've been in opposition inside the executive, so it may be more

:07:40. > :07:43.honest for them to be in opposition outside of the Executive, but is a

:07:44. > :07:46.matter to them for them in whether they want to join with us in bowling

:07:47. > :07:52.a stronger and safer Northern Ireland. That is where my focus is.

:07:53. > :07:55.A short time later I spoke to Martin McGuinness, of course, Sinn Fein

:07:56. > :08:00.lost one MLA, but they did better than they need is opposition with

:08:01. > :08:05.the SDLP who lost two are a Storm Katie team. Martin McGuinness

:08:06. > :08:14.congratulated all the 100 MLA is what got successfully elected and he

:08:15. > :08:20.told me what his take was on these... We will meet the Alliance

:08:21. > :08:23.and the Unionist party and the SDLP and begin discussions around the

:08:24. > :08:29.programme for Government. It will all be very inclusive. Would you

:08:30. > :08:34.prefer it have the SDLP and Ulster Unionist inside the tent or not? I

:08:35. > :08:38.would prefer that the SDLP and the bolster Unionists and if the

:08:39. > :08:42.Alliance Party wish to take the justice ministry, I'd prefer them

:08:43. > :08:46.all to be in the side the tents. The whole purpose of the Good Friday

:08:47. > :08:50.Agreement was to have all of us in a power-sharing way, but working

:08:51. > :08:54.constructively and positively and cohesively to ensure that we both a

:08:55. > :08:59.better future for the people we represent. So absolutely, I want to

:09:00. > :09:03.see everybody inside the tent. So as things stand we should be a bit

:09:04. > :09:07.white in a fortnight, or maybe less, as to whether the SDLP and Ulster

:09:08. > :09:10.Unionists will join the power-sharing coalition. The next

:09:11. > :09:13.bit of business it will happen on Thursday when they are expecting

:09:14. > :09:18.Martin McGuinness and Arlene Foster to be reconfirmed in their positions

:09:19. > :09:22.-- positions and MLAs will lead to new speaker.

:09:23. > :09:26.Still to come on the programme: A visit to County Down

:09:27. > :09:29.for the man in charge of Europe's agriculture policy.

:09:30. > :09:38.He encourages farmers to vote to remain in the European Union.

:09:39. > :09:40.A soldier whose family are in Carrickfergus died

:09:41. > :09:45.after he was assaulted in Wales yesterday.

:09:46. > :09:50.Private Matthew Boyd who was 20, was found unconscious in Brecon.

:09:51. > :09:55.A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and

:09:56. > :10:07.Matthew Boyd served in the Royal drug Walter Regiment. His family

:10:08. > :10:13.moved there from Carrickfergus when he was a child. It is understood he

:10:14. > :10:16.still have relatives here. Private Boyd was therefore a training

:10:17. > :10:21.exercise and in the early hours of yesterday morning, he was assaulted

:10:22. > :10:27.after leaving a pub in the town. He was found unconscious and later died

:10:28. > :10:31.in hospital. The police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of

:10:32. > :10:35.murder yesterday, the second man -- and a second man aged 22 was

:10:36. > :10:40.detained today. There is nothing to suggest that Matthew Boyd, being a

:10:41. > :10:46.soldier, was any motivation for this assault. Nor is there any indication

:10:47. > :10:49.that this is links to an act of terrorism. The Ministry of Defence

:10:50. > :10:54.said in a statement that is false with the family, friends and the

:10:55. > :10:56.Regiment of private Boyd and asked that their privacy is respected and

:10:57. > :10:59.-- at this difficult time. An environmental protestor

:11:00. > :11:03.who climbed on top of a drill being transported to an exploratory

:11:04. > :11:06.oil well has come down. The site is at Woodburn

:11:07. > :11:08.forrest near Carrickfergus. Our North East reporter

:11:09. > :11:22.Sara Girvin was there. The police were expecting a protest

:11:23. > :11:28.today, but they weren't expecting this. Just after 10am this morning,

:11:29. > :11:32.this man climbed a drill head going to the forest and bought enough

:11:33. > :11:36.supplies to stay there for two days. This is in the first protest at

:11:37. > :11:40.Woodburn. Crowds have been gathering kit since February, worried that

:11:41. > :11:44.drilling by fractures may pollute jinking water in thousands of homes

:11:45. > :11:48.in the area and Northern Ireland water, who leased the site said they

:11:49. > :11:52.are confident there is no threats. Speaking to the BBC from behind a

:11:53. > :11:55.police barricade, Mark Chapman described his decision to climb the

:11:56. > :12:00.drill as a spur of the moment thing. He said he had a bicycle lock with

:12:01. > :12:04.him and the police attempted to remove him from the drill and he

:12:05. > :12:09.chained himself to it. But just before 3pm, after negotiating with

:12:10. > :12:15.the P S a night, you changed his mind and left the drill of his own

:12:16. > :12:20.accord. He was arrested and released on -- placed on police bail. He said

:12:21. > :12:28.he had no regrets. Committing a small scribe -- primer to prevent

:12:29. > :12:35.the larger crime of elemental damage. -- to prevent the larger

:12:36. > :12:39.crime of environmental damage. The jeweller made its way to the forest.

:12:40. > :12:44.This particular part of the campaign may not have lasted as long as he

:12:45. > :12:46.might have liked, but as you can see behind me, the protest at Woodburn

:12:47. > :12:49.continues. The bakery at the centre of the "gay

:12:50. > :12:52.cake" controversy is back in court. Ashers' Baking Company is trying

:12:53. > :12:55.to overturn a ruling made last year that it unlawfully

:12:56. > :12:59.discriminated against a customer. It's two years to the day that

:13:00. > :13:03.an order for a cake with the slogan "Support Gay Marriage" was made

:13:04. > :13:20.at the firm's Belfast branch. Back in court, the owners of Ashers'

:13:21. > :13:24.Baking Company arrived for the hearing just a head of their son

:13:25. > :13:29.Daniel. The general manager of the bakery along with his wife, Amy. A

:13:30. > :13:32.Christian family appealing a decision made last year. A similar

:13:33. > :13:37.case but by the quality commission on behalf of gay rights activist

:13:38. > :13:41.Gareth Lee here on the right. The MIDI has made a lot of this being a

:13:42. > :13:44.faith -based trial. It is about a man who walked into the shop to

:13:45. > :13:47.years ago and did not get the service that he would expect. I do

:13:48. > :13:51.not one Northern Ireland to be a lottery where when we go into a shop

:13:52. > :13:55.or ask for a service that we have to second-guess the conscience of the

:13:56. > :13:58.service provider. We are hoping that this court will rule we are not

:13:59. > :14:05.required to endorse the view that goes against our conscience and

:14:06. > :14:10.beliefs. This is never just been about one thing. It is clear that it

:14:11. > :14:16.has always had implications for freedom of expression throughout the

:14:17. > :14:21.UK. Counsel for the Ashers said the family had no idea about Gareth

:14:22. > :14:24.Lee's sexual orientation and he had been in the bakery before. The

:14:25. > :14:29.problem is not with a customer, but with the message on the cake which

:14:30. > :14:32.was inconsistent with a family's deeply held beliefs. To provide such

:14:33. > :14:37.a service would have been seen before. If edge sexual person had

:14:38. > :14:41.bought a cake, the family said they would have responded the same way.

:14:42. > :14:42.The hearing is expected to last three days.

:14:43. > :14:45.A County Armagh man has appeared in court charged with the attempted

:14:46. > :14:47.murder of a police officer in Eglinton last summer.

:14:48. > :14:49.He's also accused of possession of semtex explosives.

:14:50. > :14:58.Here's our North-West reporter, Keiron Tourish.

:14:59. > :15:08.Before the court was this manner from Victoria Street. He's accused

:15:09. > :15:12.of possessing Semtex explosives with attempts to endanger life. It

:15:13. > :15:16.follows the discovery of a bomb in Eglington on June 18 last year. A

:15:17. > :15:19.defence solicitor said the prosecution was missing essential

:15:20. > :15:23.ingredient in relation to connecting the accused to the charges. He said

:15:24. > :15:28.that the basis of the prosecution case was that there were low levels

:15:29. > :15:32.of explosives and clothing taken from him in the Republic. He also

:15:33. > :15:36.said the prosecution was relying on CCTV evidence about a vehicle the

:15:37. > :15:40.accused was stabbed in Donegal. He said there was no evidence of it

:15:41. > :15:44.being seen in Eglington. The defence solicitor said there was no

:15:45. > :15:49.forensics DNA or fibre evidence linking the defendant to Eglington.

:15:50. > :15:54.He called for a scientific reports to be disclosed to the defence.

:15:55. > :15:59.District Judge said all material should be given to the defence

:16:00. > :16:01.before the next hearing on May 16. Sean McVeigh was led away there was

:16:02. > :16:04.applause from the public gallery. Irish language speakers have held

:16:05. > :16:05.a demonstration outside the BBC's headquarters

:16:06. > :16:07.on Ormeau Avenue in Belfast. A spokesman said it was organised

:16:08. > :16:10.in protest at the BBC's disregard A BBC spokesperson said BBC

:16:11. > :16:16.Northern Ireland produced a range of Irish language content

:16:17. > :16:19.across television, radio and online which reflects commitments detailed

:16:20. > :16:21.in the BBC's current Charter With six weeks to go

:16:22. > :16:33.to the European referendum, Today the Agriculture Commissioner

:16:34. > :16:37.Phil Hogan was in County Down, explaining why he thinks UK farmers

:16:38. > :16:40.would be better off inside the EU. Our Agriculture correspondent

:16:41. > :16:58.Conor Macauley reports. He's the big cheese of European

:16:59. > :17:03.agriculture. And today, he was on Pat McCabe's farmer. Commissioner

:17:04. > :17:09.Phil Hogan have the double persuading UK farmers their future

:17:10. > :17:15.is inside European Union. It is linked to other places in the area.

:17:16. > :17:18.And with mountains in the distance, where a potential new trade body

:17:19. > :17:22.could be drunkenly focused on what farmers get from Europe in subsidy

:17:23. > :17:26.payments and the easy access to a market for their produce. You're

:17:27. > :17:30.better off sticking with a situation where you have 500 million consumers

:17:31. > :17:33.rather than 60 million consumers in the context of the benefits for

:17:34. > :17:36.trade that has been achieved already. There's no guarantee you'll

:17:37. > :17:41.get the same terms of all conditions in the future. Farmers had come to

:17:42. > :17:45.question the Commissioner. Bureaucracy, complaint about one

:17:46. > :17:49.inspections and annoyance of prices -- over prices were all heard. He

:17:50. > :17:52.heard about the frustration with the rules and regulations of Europe. The

:17:53. > :17:59.kind of red tape he said he is trying to get rid of. There is no

:18:00. > :18:03.sort of bullets, it will be a struggle and we are looking for

:18:04. > :18:06.answers. We are on our knees looking for answers. We want to hear the

:18:07. > :18:11.arguments from the outcome in as well, and until farmers here that,

:18:12. > :18:16.there's a long way to go. One bit of good news for farmers like Pat McKay

:18:17. > :18:20.today, beef will not now be part of a potential EU trade deal with South

:18:21. > :18:28.America. The prospect of cheap meat flowing into Europe is off the menu

:18:29. > :18:32.for now. If you're going on holiday this summer, your trip may involve

:18:33. > :18:37.one of these. But you certainly wouldn't expect to find one on a

:18:38. > :18:43.campsite. That is unless you had to County Sligo. As our reporter says,

:18:44. > :18:45.the idea of using an unwanted plane as alternative accommodation almost

:18:46. > :18:56.did not take off. Just get yourself a redundant

:18:57. > :19:01.Russian Boeing 767 and use it as a ground level camping alternative. It

:19:02. > :19:04.attempts to transport it by road hit some bureaucratic turbulence, so the

:19:05. > :19:09.plane had to be loaded onto a barge and floated from Shannon airport to

:19:10. > :19:13.a new site in County Sligo. There, it will be used by campers are what

:19:14. > :19:17.some the more glamorous than a tent. I went after the plane and I got

:19:18. > :19:22.one, I got a decommissioned plane and that was all very fine and all

:19:23. > :19:26.right, but the logistics of moving a Boeing 767 from Shannon airport to

:19:27. > :19:31.Sligo proved to be a little bit more challenging than I thought! Judging

:19:32. > :19:41.by the curiosity shown already, it is definitely putting it on the map.

:19:42. > :19:43.Glamping taken to new heights! A look ahead now to a story on BBC

:19:44. > :19:45.Newsline tomorrow. With the details, here's our

:19:46. > :19:52.north-west reporter, Keiron Tourish. I'm here at Old Trafford following

:19:53. > :19:55.the journey of one young lad from PFA Awards we certainly had all the

:19:56. > :20:01.talent and potential to make it big at the Theatre of dreams. Injury

:20:02. > :20:05.halted his career and he tried -- tragically lost his life at the age

:20:06. > :20:09.of 26. That is the ageing Doherty story on BBC Newsline. -- Adrian

:20:10. > :20:11.Doherty. Now sport, and a very exciting
