:00:00. > :00:07.we are back with the late news at 11pm, now on BBC One it's time

:00:08. > :00:11.A couple in their fifties have escaped serious injury in a fire

:00:12. > :00:19.on the Foreglen road in Dungiven died in the blaze.

:00:20. > :00:21.The fire in a rear bedroom began just before seven

:00:22. > :00:25.The man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation

:00:26. > :00:28.The cause of the fire is being investigated

:00:29. > :00:30.but is believed to have started by accident.

:00:31. > :00:35.The Northern Health Trust says it's experiencing long waits

:00:36. > :00:41.at its Emergency Department at Antrim area hospital.

:00:42. > :00:45.In a tweet to patients this afternoon, the Trust said

:00:46. > :00:47.it was currently under pressure and apologised for

:00:48. > :00:50.A Trust Spokeswoman said the waits were normal for this time

:00:51. > :00:54.A couple from County Down have been conned out of almost ?5,000

:00:55. > :00:56.after becoming the latest victims of an online

:00:57. > :01:00.Since March, three other people in Northern Ireland have been

:01:01. > :01:03.defrauded of some ?13,000 between them.

:01:04. > :01:06.One of the victims has been explaining how he was conned

:01:07. > :01:21.Ian Lowe was looking at cars on a second-hand car website when he was

:01:22. > :01:27.hooked in by the scam. He acquired about this Audi. It looked a

:01:28. > :01:30.reasonable price, ?4000 for a 2010 car so I thought I would enquire

:01:31. > :01:35.into it more so I tried to bring the telephone number at the time and it

:01:36. > :01:41.went to an answering machine. So I left it and then I got a text

:01:42. > :01:44.message from Catherine Matson. You could not speak to her directly?

:01:45. > :01:48.Never spoke to her. So everything from Enron was done by e-mail and

:01:49. > :01:52.you told me the story about how she had worked in idea in Belfast and

:01:53. > :01:56.had the car and took it home to Sweden with her and it was no use in

:01:57. > :02:00.Sweden because it was a right-hand drive car. But the Audi, which was

:02:01. > :02:07.apparently being shipped to Belfast, never arrived. The ?4000 he wired to

:02:08. > :02:13.another bank disappeared. I was devastated. I have a young family

:02:14. > :02:17.with four children and at this time of year it is just devastating to

:02:18. > :02:21.lose that amount of money and then to be told you might never see it

:02:22. > :02:25.again is even worse. It is very common. We have had several people

:02:26. > :02:30.who have lost money and people who have shown interest in buying the

:02:31. > :02:33.car is, some of them have been canny enough not to go further with the

:02:34. > :02:38.purchase because they have smelt a rat. It is easy to say after the

:02:39. > :02:41.event, but the message from trading standards and the Department of the

:02:42. > :02:44.economy is that if you're going to buy a second-hand car, make sure you

:02:45. > :02:49.see it and check it out first. Dan Stanton.

:02:50. > :02:54.The Queen's University Professor and Hillsborough campaigner

:02:55. > :02:57.Phil Scraton has turned down an OBE in the Queen's New

:02:58. > :03:00.The author led the Hillsborough Independent Panel's research team.

:03:01. > :03:02.He said he could not receive an honour in protest "at those

:03:03. > :03:04.who remained unresponsive" to help families and survivors

:03:05. > :03:09.The Honours List will be released on New Years Eve.

:03:10. > :03:13.In the Arts, 2016 was a year in which we said goodbye to some

:03:14. > :03:15.notable local names in music, art and literature.

:03:16. > :03:30.Our Arts Correspondent Robbie Meredith takes a look back.

:03:31. > :03:41.Some important local voices fell silent this year. This singer

:03:42. > :03:46.succumbed to cancer aged only 54. Sir Van Morrison was among those to

:03:47. > :03:49.pay tribute. While Sir Paul McCartney said he was very sad to

:03:50. > :03:57.hear of the death of his former guitarist Henry McCulloch. Basil

:03:58. > :04:03.Blackshaw also passed away in 2016. He was a painter who was so deeply

:04:04. > :04:07.rooted in the Ulster countryside and particularly Antrim and North Down,

:04:08. > :04:11.where he grew up. An artist inspired by black shop made headlines of his

:04:12. > :04:17.own. Colin Davidson's project of the Queen was unveiled in November.

:04:18. > :04:25.Anthony Boyle earned rave reviews for his performances in Harry Potter

:04:26. > :04:35.and The Said Child. My character is a bit of a bad egg in the books.

:04:36. > :04:44.There are also some notable birthdays. The Ulster Orchestra

:04:45. > :04:48.celebrated 50 years. While the Undertones marked 40 years together.

:04:49. > :04:53.We are still playing in the band with people that we knew when I was

:04:54. > :05:05.15 years old. And we still talk. Usually. On the big screen, the

:05:06. > :05:11.Journey, a fictional account of the relationship between Martin

:05:12. > :05:15.McGuinness and Ian Paisley, was premiered at the prestigious Venice

:05:16. > :05:21.film Festival. Northern Ireland is getting set to say goodbye to small

:05:22. > :05:24.screen hit Game of Drones. But winter has not quite, yet. There are

:05:25. > :05:28.still two more series to go. It's been a year of sporting

:05:29. > :05:30.triumphs for Northern Ireland: The Euros, Carl Frampton,

:05:31. > :05:33.Jonathan Rea to name but a few, but what about

:05:34. > :05:35.East Belfast Ladies FC? Kelly Bonner went along to meet

:05:36. > :05:50.the team who are creating It is a cold, wet December evening

:05:51. > :05:54.but it has not put these women of coming to training and practice and

:05:55. > :05:58.the pressure is on. We did the double last year. We want to go for

:05:59. > :06:03.the league and for more trophies again this year. 18 months ago, East

:06:04. > :06:06.Belfast Ladies did not exist, but now they are in the history books

:06:07. > :06:13.after their unbelievable league and cup winning debut season. We had a

:06:14. > :06:17.year to build and grow and see how we got on. And we have got to where

:06:18. > :06:23.we are now, winning the double. I have played football for 22 years

:06:24. > :06:29.now and my career was coming to an end. And now we have gone and done

:06:30. > :06:34.the double and I have a whole range of new friends now, people that I

:06:35. > :06:38.did not know before. And some of the girls have come on leaps and bounds.

:06:39. > :06:47.It has been great to be a part of. Fast steps! On the toes! Well done.

:06:48. > :06:52.We took a view hammerings at first and it is hard but once we got the

:06:53. > :06:57.girls used to training a few times a week, they were dedicated and the

:06:58. > :07:02.experienced as followed naturally and we went on to do the double in

:07:03. > :07:03.our first season. And the East Belfast Ladies are hoping for the

:07:04. > :07:06.same success in 2017. Ulster rugby will be without Ireland

:07:07. > :07:08.internationals Rory Best, Iain Henderson Paddy Jackson

:07:09. > :07:11.for this Saturday's Pro 12 The game marks the half way point

:07:12. > :07:14.of the league campaign - and the coach says there have been

:07:15. > :07:24.plenty of positives We have managed to negotiate through

:07:25. > :07:29.the circumstances throughout the year and some injuries but some

:07:30. > :07:33.people stood up. Kieran is a player whose release it up in the past few

:07:34. > :07:39.weeks which has been beleaguered. Rob Little, Jacob Stockdale, they

:07:40. > :07:45.did some really good things for us. Andrew Trimble recently. So we have

:07:46. > :07:52.had some really good, solid things that have happened throughout the

:07:53. > :07:55.year. If anything, we are probably not as good as we should be and we

:07:56. > :07:55.would like to rectify that this weekend.

:07:56. > :08:04.Let's get the weather now with Angie.

:08:05. > :08:10.Good evening. Things will be turning colder as we head into January but

:08:11. > :08:16.for what remains of December, it will be rather mild. It stays quite

:08:17. > :08:20.mild tonight. Frost free with temperatures around 6-7 C. A cloudy

:08:21. > :08:24.and breezy day coming up tomorrow. More so than today. Still mainly dry

:08:25. > :08:28.but there could be pockets of drizzle, over the hills and the

:08:29. > :08:32.parts of the West, but other than that it is a dry scene. When time

:08:33. > :08:38.when the weather towards the north and the Norse words of Scotland.

:08:39. > :08:44.Elsewhere, it is mainly dry. Maybe the odd pocket of lingering fog to

:08:45. > :08:49.the East, other than that it is cloudy but mild towards the north

:08:50. > :08:53.and the West. So it is a mild afternoon for Northern Ireland.

:08:54. > :08:58.Temperatures better than today. 11-12 C. Quite breezy and cloudy so

:08:59. > :09:02.not much in the way of sunshine. A change of the way as we head into

:09:03. > :09:06.New Year's Eve. The eyes are gathering together as well so it

:09:07. > :09:09.will be quite windy for a time. But a dry start to the day. Perhaps the

:09:10. > :09:15.odd bright spell but quickly clouding over. 10-11 C and then the

:09:16. > :09:18.rain will move into the afternoon and evening, although hopefully by

:09:19. > :09:22.many others it will be moving out of the way by the time we get to the

:09:23. > :09:27.midnight celebrations. That rain clears away to the south and it

:09:28. > :09:28.turns chilly on new year's date with one or 2.3 showers.

:09:29. > :09:31.Our next BBC Newsline bulletin is at ten past eleven tonight.

:09:32. > :09:43.From everyone on the BBC Newsline team, have a very good evening.

:09:44. > :09:46.I'm relying on Josh to get this one right. Watch and learn.
