:01:35. > :01:37.Born in 1933, Edward Daly grew up in Fermanagh, and in 1974
:01:38. > :01:41.He was never afraid to speak out against violence and injustice
:01:42. > :01:43.He banned paramilitary trappings at funerals,
:01:44. > :01:46.and said at one stage the IRA was involved
:01:47. > :01:50.He also urged Martin McGuinness to use his influence with the IRA
:01:51. > :02:08.alongside his Church of Ireland counterpart Bishop James Mehaffey -
:02:09. > :02:16.both were awarded the Freedom of the City in 2015.
:02:17. > :02:19.He retired as Bishop in 1993 after suffering a stroke,
:02:20. > :02:23.but continued the fight for a full inquiry into Bloody Sunday.
:02:24. > :02:25.He welcomed the innocence of the victims being
:02:26. > :02:29.declared at the publication of the Saville report in 2010.
:02:30. > :02:35.He was such a wonderful man, such a special
:02:36. > :02:38.person, particularly to our family, because of what he did
:02:39. > :02:42.He was with Jackie in his dying moments and give him his last
:02:43. > :02:45.rites, and he was the last person to speak with him,
:02:46. > :02:55.Perhaps Bishop Daly's greatest personal fulfillment
:02:56. > :02:58.was in the Foyle Hospice, where he ministered to the dying
:02:59. > :03:00.and their relatives and where he reflected on his
:03:01. > :03:05.I think the lesson that life has taught me is
:03:06. > :03:07.the futility of violence and the waste that it is,
:03:08. > :03:13.and the sacredness of every human life.
:03:14. > :03:20.The body of Bishop Edward Daly will be brought to St Eugene's Cathedral
