:00:20. > :00:22.from the Derry diocese which he had served until his retirement

:00:34. > :00:58.The respect and the former Bishop of Derry. What was great was seeing the

:00:59. > :01:02.sheer love that people had him. And Among the mourners,

:01:03. > :01:04.And representatives of the Queen, the British and Irish government's

:01:05. > :01:14.and the executive. a very lovely, quiet way. There was

:01:15. > :01:15.applause for a Church of Ireland Bishop.

:01:16. > :01:17.He left hospital where he was being treated

:01:18. > :01:20.Bishop Daly's enduring commitment, whether as a priest

:01:21. > :01:22.or a pastoral carer, dominated many thoughts today.

:01:23. > :01:36.His ministry was marked by a total dedication to the people he served.

:01:37. > :01:38.Wherever he was called to minister, that dedication was available

:01:39. > :01:41.in outstanding courage, in all sorts of different ways.

:01:42. > :01:43.He showed tremendous physical courage on Bloody Sunday,

:01:44. > :01:45.along with so many other people under the hail of bullets.

:01:46. > :01:48.And his moral courage was evident in his passionate struggle

:01:49. > :01:49.against violence and injustice from all quarters.

:01:50. > :01:51.And his passionate commitment to build a piece worthy

:01:52. > :01:54.of the people of this city and of this country.

:01:55. > :02:01.We all know it takes enormous courage to be a peacemaker.

:02:02. > :02:04.Tributes from Pope Francis, who said he was saddened

:02:05. > :02:17.His Holiness joins you in prayer of thanksgiving for his life.

:02:18. > :02:27.And in commending his soul to be merciful love of God, our father.

:02:28. > :02:30.Since his death, thousands of people have attended the cathedral

:02:31. > :02:42.Reflecting the impact that he had on their lives.

:02:43. > :02:54.My son took seriously ill and died in the Hospice.

:02:55. > :02:56.And Bishop Daly was brilliant with him and brilliant with us.

:02:57. > :02:59.He was a support and I will never forget him for it.

:03:00. > :03:01.I think Derry is brokenhearted over his loss.

:03:02. > :03:03.Four brothers travelled from County Fermanagh,

:03:04. > :03:06.We lived in one village and we went to school together.

:03:07. > :03:10.And we kept up the contact over the years.

:03:11. > :03:14.We can see over the past few days tens of thousands of people

:03:15. > :03:17.of the city and beyond just coming here to be there to

:03:18. > :03:28.And I think that speaks volumes about the affection he was held in.

:03:29. > :03:30.He was forthright in his criticism of violence and injustice.

:03:31. > :03:34.And, above all else, he stood by his principles.

:03:35. > :03:36.Violence was not the answer, whether it came from the loyalist

:03:37. > :03:40.For Edward, there was no halfway house on this.

:03:41. > :03:42.Violence was not going to bring the solution to our problems.

:03:43. > :03:58.For many, today was a time to reflect on the moments

:03:59. > :04:03.More often than not, in times of pain and anguish.

:04:04. > :04:05.For that, they will always remember him.

:04:06. > :04:06.Bishop Edward Daly was buried alongside his predecessor

:04:07. > :04:20.The First Minister Arlene Foster has insisted the DUP were not mistaken

:04:21. > :04:22.to campaign for Brexit, despite signing a letter together

:04:23. > :04:27.with the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness,

:04:28. > :04:30.which highlighted their shared concerns about its possible

:04:31. > :04:32.impact on the border, the economy and agriculture.

:04:33. > :04:35.Some Stormont opposition politicians have accused the DUP of performing

:04:36. > :04:37.a somersault in their letter to the Prime Minister

:04:38. > :04:43.over the forthcoming European negotiations.

:04:44. > :04:45.I think Brexit does give us a huge opportunity

:04:46. > :04:50.But we also have to deal with some of the challenges that

:04:51. > :05:05.This is not about point-scoring. This is about how we protect the

:05:06. > :05:12.interests of the people we represent and the challenges that lie ahead.
