:00:00. > :00:07.Here on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

:00:08. > :00:11.The Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness says his party

:00:12. > :00:15.colleague Mairtin O'Muilleoir has his full support and will not be

:00:16. > :00:21.The Assembly's Finance committee called for him to stand aside

:00:22. > :00:26.during an investigation into a secret contact

:00:27. > :00:29.between a witness to the committee's Nama inquiry and the man

:00:30. > :00:31.who was chairing the committee at the time -

:00:32. > :00:37.The Finance Minister say he has not done anything wrong.

:00:38. > :00:46.Here's our political correspondent, Gareth Gordon.

:00:47. > :00:53.As Finance Minister Mairtin O'Muilleoir has one of the biggest

:00:54. > :00:58.jobs at storm want. But not long ago he was playing Mairtin O'Muilleoir

:00:59. > :01:03.MLA, a member of the finance committee on the day it had

:01:04. > :01:12.explosive evidence from this man, loyalist Jimmy Bryson. His colleague

:01:13. > :01:30.... Given that there has been reference

:01:31. > :01:35.to the finance member then of the committee, Mairtin O'Muilleoir, now

:01:36. > :01:39.a minister. People are picked up what he would say, when he would

:01:40. > :01:46.say, at what stage you would comment. It is now impossible in any

:01:47. > :01:51.fair process for a minister to be carrying on an office and have the

:01:52. > :01:54.confidence of the assembly. The call for the minister to step

:01:55. > :01:58.aside was backed by all the other parties on the committee bar Sinn

:01:59. > :02:02.Fein. The confidence has been so seriously

:02:03. > :02:07.eroded and damage that he cannot possibly continue, regardless of

:02:08. > :02:09.whether he is guilty of misdemeanours or inappropriate

:02:10. > :02:19.behaviour or not. But Mairtin O'Muilleoir claimed --

:02:20. > :02:25.but other members were accused of playing politics.

:02:26. > :02:31.The committee for standards is investigating this issue and that is

:02:32. > :02:36.the place for that investigation to take place. That committee bordered

:02:37. > :02:40.on farcical at times today. For all that was said today, the

:02:41. > :02:46.committee they cannot force Mairtin O'Muilleoir to resign. That is both

:02:47. > :02:50.his party and he has Sinn Fein's full support so far. Emphasising

:02:51. > :03:02.that support this afternoon, Mark McGuinness said...

:03:03. > :03:07.The committee meets again in a fortnight, but all sides showing

:03:08. > :03:09.signs of digging in. A number of pupils at a Newry school

:03:10. > :03:12.have been disqualified from an A-level exam

:03:13. > :03:14.and had their grades cancelled. The sanctions came after

:03:15. > :03:16.an investigation by an exam board, as our education correspondent,

:03:17. > :03:31.Robbie Meredith, reports. The BBC understands that around 15

:03:32. > :03:38.students here at Our Lady's Grammar School who sat the exam in Sociology

:03:39. > :03:43.are affected. It is understood that a number of questions from exam

:03:44. > :03:48.taken in late June were shared on social media by some students had to

:03:49. > :03:56.the test earlier jitter timetable class. That is not understood how

:03:57. > :03:57.the claims came to light but the students were informed of the

:03:58. > :04:13.outcome and the sanctions last week. No one from the school was available

:04:14. > :04:18.for interview but, in a statement to the BBC, they said they regretted

:04:19. > :04:24.the incident. The also said the matter was dealt with by the school

:04:25. > :04:28.and the examination board in line with qualifications guidelines and

:04:29. > :04:34.the students involved sanctioned. There has been no suggestion, they

:04:35. > :04:41.went on, of any breach of examination or individuation

:04:42. > :04:46.protocol by the school. The also new that this was a time of difficulty

:04:47. > :04:51.for the students and they would offer support to those affected, who

:04:52. > :04:53.had had an unblemished record thus far.

:04:54. > :04:56.A man with multiple sclerosis says he feels his human rights have been

:04:57. > :04:59.violated by a "Do Not Resuscitate" order being put on his medical file.

:05:00. > :05:01.Neill Birnie, who's 48, is paralysed from the neck down

:05:02. > :05:05.The Northern Health Trust insists the order was discussed

:05:06. > :05:07.Our Health Correspondent, Marie-Louise Connolly,

:05:08. > :05:24.Despite his condition, Neill Birnie wants to live as long as possible.

:05:25. > :05:35.Communicating but by a computer, Neill gloves I did joke and has a

:05:36. > :05:41.wicked sense of humour. Let me assure you the lights are on

:05:42. > :05:46.and I am definitely at home. Mentally alert, in 2014 after being

:05:47. > :05:54.admitted to hospital with pneumonia, Neill discovered a DNR order was

:05:55. > :05:58.placed on his record. He did not ask for one, nor did his family.

:05:59. > :06:06.There was no effort to ask for my opinion. The consultants did at the

:06:07. > :06:16.end of my bed flight by two junior doctors saying that I had to face

:06:17. > :06:20.facts and I had -- he had consulted with the intensive care unit and so

:06:21. > :06:26.he was putting her do not resuscitate order on my file.

:06:27. > :06:47.In a statement, the health board said...

:06:48. > :06:57.Guidelines emphasise the need for medics to clearly discuss the impact

:06:58. > :07:02.of a DNR notice. Equally, a family should be notified of the impact CPR

:07:03. > :07:06.can have any person's body. It is terribly distressing because

:07:07. > :07:11.someone who has had CP are applied to them, he is maybe elderly frail

:07:12. > :07:19.or sick and the CPR can be traumatic.

:07:20. > :07:23.A puppy arrived last week for Neill's 48th birthday. They hope it

:07:24. > :07:27.will heal the scars. The precious gift of my life was

:07:28. > :07:32.considered valueless by the hospital.

:07:33. > :07:37.He says is mission is to spread the message that not all chronically ill

:07:38. > :07:39.patients are waiting for assisted suicide.

:07:40. > :07:41.The police in Brazil claim to have uncovered emails

:07:42. > :07:43.between the arrested Olympic official Pat Hickey and a sports

:07:44. > :07:46.company in which they discuss the illegal sale of Rio tickets.

:07:47. > :07:49.In a news conference this evening, the police gave further

:07:50. > :07:52.Mr Hickey, who has stepped aside as the President

:07:53. > :07:55.of the Olympic Council of Ireland, denies the allegations.

:07:56. > :08:12.Pat Hickey's arrest in Brazil six days ago sparked controversy around

:08:13. > :08:15.the world. This evening, investigators in Rio claimed tickets

:08:16. > :08:27.had been transferred from the Council of Northern

:08:28. > :08:34.Ireland to THG Sports, who didn't have licensed to sell them. Three

:08:35. > :08:40.senior officials were asked to attend this police station for

:08:41. > :08:45.questioning but one has since been told he's free to leave. Another has

:08:46. > :08:54.yet to give his statement and must do so within the next two days. It

:08:55. > :09:02.is not clear when the former OCI German Pat Hickey will appear in

:09:03. > :09:09.court. -- chairman. It was alleged that Patrick E's wife was told he

:09:10. > :09:15.had gone to Ireland when they arrest attempt was made. He says his

:09:16. > :09:31.attention -- detention by police was under mere assumptions.

:09:32. > :09:37.Two abandoned seal pups that were nursed back to full health have

:09:38. > :09:47.Conor Macauley was with them as they took to the water.

:09:48. > :09:55.The backyard is not normally the place you'd expect to find seal pups

:09:56. > :09:59.but Peril and Coral have been living here for almost two months. The

:10:00. > :10:06.biologist it going when they were abandoned. Knows -- now that they

:10:07. > :10:12.have had a specialist formula of milk and cream -- crushed fish and

:10:13. > :10:15.cream, it is time to send them back although they do not seem that keen

:10:16. > :10:21.on the idea. They were underweight at birth which normally means

:10:22. > :10:27.certain death unless an expert like Sue intervenes.

:10:28. > :10:32.They have to be able to swim with the mother and the water for their

:10:33. > :10:37.mother to care for them and they wouldn't have been able to keep up

:10:38. > :10:41.and would have got stranded. So they are on their way back to the

:10:42. > :10:47.sea, hopefully to hook up with other members of the seal family. But

:10:48. > :10:54.after several weeks of hand rearing, there is an inevitable bond. One

:10:55. > :11:05.takes off without much persuasion but for the other, parting is a long

:11:06. > :11:09.drawn-out affair. Even she is more attracted to other

:11:10. > :11:19.seals than us so as soon as she is able to break that bond she will be

:11:20. > :11:22.fine. That is more than 20 pups that Sue

:11:23. > :11:30.Wilson has helped back into the waves.

:11:31. > :11:33.Out into the big bad world. Football now and Dundalk's heroic

:11:34. > :11:35.attempt to become the first Irish side to make the Champions League

:11:36. > :11:38.group stages narrowly failed as they lost 3-1 to Legia Warsaw

:11:39. > :11:40.on aggregate, despite a 1-1 Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers

:11:41. > :11:44.successfully steered Celtic into the group stages

:11:45. > :11:46.of the Champions League, despite a 2-0 defeat tonight,

:11:47. > :11:48.the Scottish champions beating Hapoel Be'er Sheva of

:11:49. > :11:50.Israel 5-4 on aggregate. The weather forecast

:11:51. > :12:03.with Cecilia Daly. Skies clearing nicely across

:12:04. > :12:09.Northern Ireland and it looks like being clear and dry for the rest of

:12:10. > :12:11.the night. A cooler night than recent nights with temperatures

:12:12. > :12:16.dropping into single figures, especially in the countryside, and

:12:17. > :12:22.that may lead to some fog in the morning. A fresh start as well. But

:12:23. > :12:26.a nicer day than today. Dry virtually everywhere and lots of

:12:27. > :12:32.sunshine, especially through the morning. It is a fine summer 's day

:12:33. > :12:35.across much of Britain and Ireland. Maybe a few showers for Western

:12:36. > :12:50.counties of Ireland in the afternoon and some sharp showers across parts

:12:51. > :12:53.of southern England. It won't be as hot everywhere across England and

:12:54. > :12:57.Wales tomorrow but temperatures will still get close to 30 degrees in the

:12:58. > :12:59.London area. I think we will still be happy with the temperatures in

:13:00. > :13:10.Northern Ireland after a quite dismal day. We are likely to see

:13:11. > :13:13.more showers on Thursday but still semi-decent temperatures. It looks

:13:14. > :13:18.like the showers disappear on Friday so another fine day with sunshine

:13:19. > :13:24.and temperatures close to 20 degrees. Saturday is dry but with

:13:25. > :13:25.more cloud and adventure Lee some but hopefully a good part of the day

:13:26. > :13:31.will be tried. At
