:01:54. > :01:57.the bat without intending to cheat. Having been there myself as an

:01:58. > :02:01.Olympian, I have never heard about it before. Every boxer is an

:02:41. > :02:43.she had been waiting 18 years for. Her abuser, Belfast man

:02:44. > :02:46.Thomas Thompson, was given a three-year suspended sentence

:03:10. > :03:16.mental health greatly, suffering from panic attacks,

:03:17. > :03:21.depression, anxiety, sleepless nights, waking up screaming,

:03:22. > :03:29.so it has affected me right from the age of 13

:03:30. > :03:34.to the age of 31, now. The legal process has been the most

:03:35. > :03:36.difficult thing I have But I also got a result

:03:37. > :03:43.at the end of it. There was a year ago,

:03:44. > :03:47.I even contemplated suicide. Having to deal with this every day,

:03:48. > :03:54.it became just too much for me. Thankfully, I am still here,

:03:55. > :04:00.and I am still fighting, every day. In court, the judge said that

:04:01. > :04:03.Thomas Thompson had taken sexual advantage of a young

:04:07. > :04:09.at a derelict house, Thomas Thompson said,

:04:13. > :04:18.she had no regrets about coming forward and encouraged other victims

:04:19. > :04:24.to speak out and seek help. The stigma around sexual abuse

:04:25. > :04:29.is that nobody talks about it. And, because it is not being talked

:04:30. > :04:32.about, perpetrators can get away with it, so I do not for one second

:05:16. > :05:20.between the Order and the Crumlin Ardoyne Residents Association,

:05:21. > :05:22.CARA, to end a three-year dispute. In a statement, the commission said

:05:23. > :05:26.that agreement presents an opportunity for a resolution

:05:38. > :05:45.on the Assembly to do more to help them plan the future

:05:46. > :05:47.for their children. Many parents continue to look

:05:48. > :05:49.after their children with disabilities well

:05:50. > :05:52.into their 70s and 80s. But they say the system does little

:05:53. > :05:55.to help them sort out I've been to meet Sherol Matthews

:05:56. > :06:03.and her son, William. This is the last school photo

:06:04. > :06:05.taken of William Matthews He was just six years

:06:06. > :06:09.old when he was hit by a car. For his mum, Sherol,

:06:10. > :06:11.these pictures are painful Life just changed in that

:06:12. > :06:17.second and it was a very He was in hospital for,

:06:18. > :06:27.really, five months. Sherol has been his carer

:06:28. > :06:32.round the clock for almost 30 years. After the trauma of his accident,

:06:33. > :06:35.there were many adjustments It was difficult just to register

:06:36. > :06:43.that we had actually lost the William that we had,

:06:44. > :06:49.but we have got the new one in his place with lots of different

:06:50. > :06:53.character, qualities, etc, but we are so thankful that he

:06:54. > :07:05.is still with us. On top of caring, there was another

:07:06. > :07:10.battle to be fought, with social services,

:07:11. > :07:13.to get respite. And it is a fight that Sherol

:07:14. > :07:16.wants to see simplified. It hasn't been easy,

:07:17. > :07:19.but I would just like and there has been some support,

:07:20. > :07:30.but it has been sparse. I just live, day to day, and have

:07:31. > :07:34.the good faith that keeps me going and that is really how

:07:35. > :07:38.I have survived. She was among several families

:07:39. > :07:41.at Stormont this week trying to put pressure on Assembly Members

:07:42. > :07:44.to force health trusts to do more to help families who are caring way

:07:45. > :07:50.beyond retirement age. In Northern Ireland,

:07:51. > :07:54.we are the only part of the UK that doesn't have the rights of carers

:07:55. > :07:56.enshrined in law, and we're hoping that soon we will change that

:07:57. > :07:59.and we'll get the support of all parties here

:08:00. > :08:03.to get a carers' bill. Sherol wants William to stay in this

:08:04. > :08:06.house, something that in theory Whether that happens

:08:07. > :08:10.is something she wants to know I am not the only person in this

:08:11. > :08:16.situation and we all feel You have to beg and battle

:08:17. > :08:25.to get things done. On tomorrow's programme,

:08:26. > :08:27.we'll hear from the 93-year-old woman still looking after her son

:08:28. > :08:34.who has Down's syndrome. Golf, and BBC Newsline cameras have

:08:35. > :08:37.been given behind-the-scenes access at the Hazelteen national

:08:38. > :08:39.course in Minnesota. Europe's captain, Darren Clarke,

:08:40. > :08:41.took Stephen Watson on a tour Welcome to the inner

:08:42. > :08:54.sanctum of Team Europe, and everywhere there are the details

:08:55. > :08:56.that Darren Clarke has gone into to give his team the best

:08:57. > :08:59.chance to win this Ryder Cup. From the images of some

:09:00. > :09:02.of the great players to inspirational quotes on the wall,

:09:03. > :09:04.one from Darren himself - And then the iconic image

:09:05. > :09:17.on the wall of the Giant's Causeway. Why is it so important

:09:18. > :09:20.to you to have this from Northern Ireland as one

:09:21. > :09:23.of your central pieces? For the team, my thought

:09:24. > :09:32.for the ethos of the team is shoulder to shoulder,

:09:33. > :09:34.taken from the rugby guys. If we are shoulder to shoulder,

:09:35. > :09:37.we are together, one unit, one team. If one of those rocks falls down

:09:38. > :09:40.then the next beside And that is not going to happen

:09:41. > :09:45.in this team, because these guys are such a close-knit group,

:09:46. > :09:49.they are so tight, and they have I am proud to be from here and this

:09:50. > :09:53.chance to motivate the European team We're going now inside

:09:54. > :09:56.the locker room... Everything seems to be just

:09:57. > :09:59.completely and utterly thought through, down to the finest detail,

:10:00. > :10:08.down to the nameplates Yes, everything is all

:10:09. > :10:12.mixed up for everybody. It is all up there -

:10:13. > :10:21.one unit, one team. Thankfully, I don't

:10:22. > :10:26.need my clubs this week. That is a good thing,

:10:27. > :10:28.because I would not be This is a collage of

:10:29. > :10:34.different iconic scenes. And a little bit further behind you,

:10:35. > :10:37.the physios have their areas where they treat the guys

:10:38. > :10:40.after they come off the course. They have got ice packs,

:10:41. > :10:42.the bike is up there. These guys are the pinnacle

:10:43. > :10:45.of our sport, and it is my job to look after them with

:10:46. > :10:47.the respect that they deserve, and they deserve to have whatever

:10:48. > :10:50.they want this week. And if that, in some small way,

:10:51. > :10:53.helps them perform, Football and, in the Champions

:10:54. > :10:59.League tonight, Celtic played out a thrilling 3-3 with Premiership

:11:00. > :11:01.leaders Manchester The home side took a 3-2 lead just

:11:02. > :11:07.after the break through But City were able to hit

:11:08. > :11:15.back a short time later Celtic are now third in Group C,

:11:16. > :11:21.with one point from two games. Looking ahead to tomorrow

:11:22. > :11:22.night's BBC Newsline, and Donna will be live

:11:23. > :11:25.at the opening of a new centre on transforming what used

:11:26. > :11:33.to be a police station into the arts and literary centre

:11:34. > :11:37.in the Nobel Laureate's birthplace. Donna will be speaking to members

:11:38. > :11:39.of his family. That's on tomorrow

:11:40. > :11:43.night's BBC Newsline Now here's Geoff Maskell

:11:44. > :11:56.with the weather forecast. Hello, good evening. After a day

:11:57. > :12:02.with temperatures above 20, it's all change tonight. Following from a

:12:03. > :12:06.band of rain early, some cooler, fresher conditions bringing some

:12:07. > :12:11.showers. Temperatures tonight around nine or ten. It will be increasingly

:12:12. > :12:17.lost to read. By the time we wake up tomorrow, we can see some gale force

:12:18. > :12:21.gusts. It will be a pretty blustery day throughout the day, driving

:12:22. > :12:25.those showers in. The good news is that, between the showers, there

:12:26. > :12:31.will be plenty of bright and sunny weather. Look at the temperatures.

:12:32. > :12:36.Today, we saw highs in the low 20s. Tomorrow, the middle teens is as

:12:37. > :12:41.good as it gets. There has been low pressure to the north of Scotland,

:12:42. > :12:46.driving those showers in. Much drier and warm are further south and east.

:12:47. > :12:51.Overnight Thursday and into Friday, the showers continue. It's a cooler

:12:52. > :12:56.night with temperatures in single figures. Friday, a fresher feel and

:12:57. > :13:00.showers continuing. Possibly a bit more in the way of cloud during the

:13:01. > :13:07.day, which will hold back temperatures into the lower teams.

:13:08. > :13:12.Come the weekend, once this low moves away, we open the door to some

:13:13. > :13:16.decent weather for later part of Saturday and into Sunday. Saturday

:13:17. > :13:19.afternoon will be perfectly useful once the rain starts to dry up.

:13:20. > :13:22.Sunday is actually looking like a rather nice day.

:13:23. > :13:25.Our next BBC Newsline is at 6:25am during Breakfast here on BBC One.

:13:26. > :13:28.You can also keep updated with news online.
