:00:13. > :00:17.The online bike store Chain Reaction is to cut around 300 jobs.

:00:18. > :00:19.The Ballyclare-based firm was taken over earlier this year.

:00:20. > :00:21.The new owners say they intend to concentrate warehouse

:00:22. > :00:29.Our Economics and Business Editor John Campbell reports.

:00:30. > :00:35.It has been our biggest retail success story of the Internet era.

:00:36. > :00:41.The company is one of the world was mad men online sellers of bicycles

:00:42. > :00:47.and cycling accessories. It started in 1995 as a single bike shop owned

:00:48. > :00:52.by the Watson family. But having built a world-class operation

:00:53. > :00:58.employing more than 400 people, they sold it earlier this year to a rival

:00:59. > :01:05.firm. Now, they are planning a shake-up, meaning many staff will be

:01:06. > :01:08.moving to Wolverhampton. The company said it was necessary to retain its

:01:09. > :01:13.position, remain competitive in the UK as well as increasing local

:01:14. > :01:18.markets. That means up to 152 staff jobs and 161 agency positions will

:01:19. > :01:21.go. They promised employees they will be treated fairly and in line

:01:22. > :01:26.with their values. This afternoon, one regular customer at all that she

:01:27. > :01:33.shares in the staff's shock. It is not just the front facing is that we

:01:34. > :01:36.talk to as customers on a daily basis, it is all the backroom staff,

:01:37. > :01:40.the stock room, the clerical, the admin, everything. If you're into

:01:41. > :01:45.bicycles, it is very much a family feeling when you go in and shop. I

:01:46. > :01:50.will really, really miss it. A local MLA said that jobs are effectively

:01:51. > :01:53.being shifted across the Irish Sea. Distribution would like it is going

:01:54. > :01:59.to be transferred to Wolverhampton, in England, so it is with sadness

:02:00. > :02:04.that we hear this news, today. We know that this local firm, locally

:02:05. > :02:11.owned, had great investment in our local community here. And with this

:02:12. > :02:15.takeover, we see what is happening. It is taking away the distribution

:02:16. > :02:23.part. The company says it will keep at least 275 jobs here, in rolls

:02:24. > :02:27.like Management, IT and seals. It's real building operation will also

:02:28. > :02:32.remain in Ballyclare. -- it's a real building. Major loss of that such a

:02:33. > :02:35.respected company will shock many people but any competitive murky,

:02:36. > :02:39.the new owners were never going to be sentimental about Northern

:02:40. > :02:43.Ireland jobs. Staff leaving this site tonight have been reluctant to

:02:44. > :02:46.comment, but the trade union have reacted furiously. They see these

:02:47. > :02:50.job losses are completely indefensible and may amount to

:02:51. > :02:53.corporate asset stripping. The company may refute that, but it is

:02:54. > :02:56.still likely that by the time we get to the summer of next year, 300 jobs

:02:57. > :03:01.will have gone. A jury at Belfast Crown Court has

:03:02. > :03:04.found two people guilty of murdering a disabled Lurgan man

:03:05. > :03:07.and dumping his body in a bin. Stephen Hughes and Shaunean Boyle

:03:08. > :03:09.were standing trial for the murder The 40-year-old had been badly

:03:10. > :03:13.beaten and left unconscious Ita Dungan has been

:03:14. > :03:23.following the trial. For five weeks, Owen's parents

:03:24. > :03:27.and siblings have listened to evidence of how he was beaten up

:03:28. > :03:29.and left unconscious on a sofa

:03:30. > :03:32.until he died two days later. The jury had listened to that same

:03:33. > :03:35.evidence and had been instructed by the judge to answer the question

:03:36. > :03:43.of who killed this man. Was it Stephen Hughes

:03:44. > :03:47.and Shaunean Boyle together, After five hours deliberating,

:03:48. > :03:52.they came back with their answer. They found both Stephen Hughes

:03:53. > :03:56.and Shaunean Boyle guilty of murder. The pair had kicked,

:03:57. > :04:04.punched and stamped on the disabled man,

:04:05. > :04:06.who weighed just over seven stone. His injuries included 15 broken

:04:07. > :04:11.ribs, a fractured breastbone, bleeding to the brain

:04:12. > :04:15.and a bruised heart. And it had all happened here,

:04:16. > :04:20.at Stephen Hughes's home, Owen Creaney, Stephen Hughes

:04:21. > :04:24.and Shaunean Boyle had arrived back in the early hours of the morning,

:04:25. > :04:27.having been on a drinking Shortly after, Owen Creaney

:04:28. > :04:37.was beaten unconscious. As he lay on a sofa

:04:38. > :04:39.upstairs, friends called most of them unaware

:04:40. > :04:45.of what was happening. She described foam coming out

:04:46. > :04:55.of his mouth and said the smell One day later,

:04:56. > :04:58.Owen Creaney was dead. Shaunean Boyle and Stephen Hughes

:04:59. > :05:01.then slid his body into a wheelie Shortly afterwards,

:05:02. > :05:04.the police arrived. When the verdicts were being read

:05:05. > :05:08.out, Stephen Hughes Shaunean Boyle broke down in tears,

:05:09. > :05:19.sobbing into her hands. Then, as the judge handed

:05:20. > :05:21.down two life sentences, there was an outburst

:05:22. > :05:23.from the public gallery, a member of Shaunean Boyle's family

:05:24. > :05:25.shouted at Stephen Hughes, Then, as Shaunean Boyle

:05:26. > :05:39.was being led away, for the first time during the trial,

:05:40. > :05:41.she turned to Stephen and said, The pair will be sentenced

:05:42. > :05:51.on the 18th of November. Naomi Long has been

:05:52. > :05:52.elected as the new leader The MLA was endorsed

:05:53. > :05:55.by party activists tonight Our Political Correspondent

:05:56. > :06:12.Stephen Walker was there. Around 150 party members came to

:06:13. > :06:16.vote in an election race were there was only one candidate. Naomi Long

:06:17. > :06:20.has been and party leader ever since David Ford announced he was stepping

:06:21. > :06:24.down. After she was elected, Naomi Long outlined what her priorities

:06:25. > :06:28.would be. I am tired of the kind of politics that makes people feel

:06:29. > :06:32.excluded, depressed, set up with Northern Ireland. It is a fantastic

:06:33. > :06:36.place but we need a change in our politics. It is actually about

:06:37. > :06:41.optimism, trying to do the best that we can, not blind to the challenges,

:06:42. > :06:44.but celebrating the diversity that we have as a strength, rather than

:06:45. > :06:48.treating every division as a weakness. And the new leader got the

:06:49. > :06:53.full backing of the party faithful. I am ecstatic, I am so happy, such a

:06:54. > :07:01.way forward for the party. She is definitely the best person, most

:07:02. > :07:03.capable to lead us forward. I believe this could be a time when

:07:04. > :07:06.Alliance will grow stronger, bigger and there will be more depth and

:07:07. > :07:09.breadth to it, with the LGBT community, ethnic community and the

:07:10. > :07:16.POL community and the Nationalist community. We are a shared future

:07:17. > :07:20.party and I believe that may will lead that way. I believe it is a new

:07:21. > :07:23.dawn and chapter for the party. I think it will herald a real change

:07:24. > :07:27.in how we engage with our constituencies. My only will bring

:07:28. > :07:31.it to a grassroots level. When another party activists is one

:07:32. > :07:35.thing, but Naomi Long knows that she wants to see the Alliance Party

:07:36. > :07:39.grow, they need more members, more votes and seats. And in a crowd as

:07:40. > :07:43.political marketplace, that will be difficult. She may be the new leader

:07:44. > :07:47.of the Alliance Party, but she is facing some familiar challenges.

:07:48. > :07:50.The PSNI has arrested four people as part of an investigation

:07:51. > :07:52.into right-wing tensions in north eastern Europe.

:07:53. > :07:55.The men, who are aged between 29 and 46, were detained at houses

:07:56. > :08:01.A number of searches were conducted and several items removed

:08:02. > :08:12.An Assembly committee has been told that a botched green energy scheme

:08:13. > :08:15.which landed taxpayers with a bill of hundreds of millions of pounds

:08:16. > :08:17.is the "biggest scandal" encountered by politicians here.

:08:18. > :08:19.An overgenerous subsidy meant firms piled into the scheme

:08:20. > :08:23.designed to get them to switch from oil to wood chip boilers.

:08:24. > :08:25.20 years of guaranteed payments has left a huge hole

:08:26. > :08:32.The regulators Ofgem E-Serve were before the assembly's

:08:33. > :08:39.public account's committee and were heavily criticised.

:08:40. > :08:45.You're supposed to be the regulator. It is very clear the department was

:08:46. > :08:48.asleep at the wheel, but I am completely horrified that you as

:08:49. > :08:53.well were asleep at the wheel in relation to this. No minutes,

:08:54. > :08:58.limited records, nor responsibility, no ownership. It is... It is

:08:59. > :09:03.appalling. You're bound to accept that. It is public money. We can

:09:04. > :09:11.hardly afford the health service and now we have to fork out for this.

:09:12. > :09:14.A woman believed to be in her 30s has died in what's believed to have

:09:15. > :09:16.been a riding accident in County Down.

:09:17. > :09:22.It happened this afternoon on the Moss road near Ballygowan.

:09:23. > :09:24.In County Armagh, the A28 Gosford Road in Markethill is closed

:09:25. > :09:26.between its junction with the Tandragee Road

:09:27. > :09:29.and the Ballyvally Road due to a serious road traffic collision.

:09:30. > :09:37.The road is expected to remain closed overnight.

:09:38. > :09:39.Now, there was disappointment for County Down's Andrew Smith

:09:40. > :09:42.after he failed to win the Great British Bake off.

:09:43. > :09:45.The final of the hugely popular series was aired on BBC One

:09:46. > :09:46.earlier this evening and our reporter Mervyn

:09:47. > :09:56.I will start with 20 and keep an eye on them. I am nervous about this,

:09:57. > :09:59.because a tiny imperfection in a cake could mean last in the

:10:00. > :10:05.technical... The proof in the pudding was in the eating and

:10:06. > :10:09.Northern Ireland's Bake Off finalist was let down by the trade of all

:10:10. > :10:14.bakers, foggy bottom. The flavour of that is delicious. However... You

:10:15. > :10:18.probably work that pastry a little bit too much. That should fall

:10:19. > :10:22.apart. Let's try the Stuart Hogg retard.

:10:23. > :10:37.The winner of the great British Bake Off 2016 is Candice!

:10:38. > :10:42.He was picked by fellow finalist canvassed during this evening's

:10:43. > :10:46.finale. If the aerospace engineer had come through, he would have been

:10:47. > :10:50.the first ever Bake Off winner from you. All three finalists rose to the

:10:51. > :10:55.occasion. In the end, there could only be one winner but this did not

:10:56. > :11:01.sour relations between them. Candice has been fantastic throughout. I am

:11:02. > :11:04.chuffed to bits for her. Well done! The competition was a tight, in this

:11:05. > :11:06.the last episode of the award-winning programme on the BBC

:11:07. > :11:09.before it transfers to Channel 4. Now back in February 18-year-old

:11:10. > :11:11.Oran McKenna from Belfast was involved in a road accident

:11:12. > :11:14.in which he suffered Tonight and eight months

:11:15. > :11:17.on from his horrific accident. Oran came off the bench as captain

:11:18. > :11:20.of St Marys CBS College in their winning Mageean Cup hurling

:11:21. > :11:22.final against St Killians of Garron Tower at the

:11:23. > :11:30.Queen's playing fields. Afterwards Oran spoke

:11:31. > :11:41.of his gratitude to the medical The doctors, even though they have

:11:42. > :11:46.been pessimistic, they have outlined what the rest isn't everything but

:11:47. > :11:53.have been great I was on a Glasgow coma Scale of four, in an induced

:11:54. > :11:56.coma, and it was down to the hard work of the Doctor, integrating at

:11:57. > :11:57.the side of the road, he saved my life.

:11:58. > :12:01.Now, with the weather forecast, here's Geoff Maskell.

:12:02. > :12:07.Plenty of cloud cover, so that should help to keep temperatures in

:12:08. > :12:10.high single figures. Overnight those of eight or 9 degrees. By dawn

:12:11. > :12:15.tomorrow morning, we are going to start to see a few showers working

:12:16. > :12:19.their way in. It not last terribly long, with another cloudy but mild

:12:20. > :12:23.day. Once those showers little out, a few breaks in the clouds starting

:12:24. > :12:30.to open up and that will help the temperatures. Another day, those

:12:31. > :12:33.temperatures will be maybe 14 degrees on a south-westerly breeze,

:12:34. > :12:37.just drawing in that warmer air. We take the wider view, you can see

:12:38. > :12:40.exactly what is going on. An area of high pressure sitting out towards

:12:41. > :12:43.the side of the British Isles. To the north, a stronger breeze and

:12:44. > :12:48.later on, we will see this band of rain starts to work its way in. That

:12:49. > :12:51.comes in overnight onto Friday morning. The cloud cover helps to

:12:52. > :12:55.keep the temperature is on the mild side. Come the end of the week, and

:12:56. > :12:58.the weekend, that ridge of high pressure starts to extend, to give

:12:59. > :13:05.us a little bit of protection from the Atlantic weather systems.

:13:06. > :13:07.Friday, a band of rain will slowly moves north, dries out behind it.

:13:08. > :13:11.For all of the early Halloween celebrations, it should be trying

:13:12. > :13:16.it. Looking pretty good as we cast an eye towards the weekend. Cloudy

:13:17. > :13:19.and Miles, temperatures in the low teens. Not too bad and the largely

:13:20. > :13:24.fair all the way through the weekend and on into the start of next week,

:13:25. > :13:26.with only very little bit of light rain around as we go through the

:13:27. > :13:28.next few days.
