:00:00. > :00:09.More questions are being asked about money received by the DUP

:00:10. > :00:13.for an advert in a UK newspaper during the Brexit campaign.

:00:14. > :00:16.In a BBC interview, Arlene Foster said she couldn't remember how much

:00:17. > :00:19.was involved but said it was properly accounted for.

:00:20. > :00:25.Here's our Political Correspondent Stephen Walker.

:00:26. > :00:26.Last year's EU referendum campaign was all about

:00:27. > :00:34.The argument was about whether the UK would be better or worse off

:00:35. > :00:37.being in the European Union, and advertising was seen as key.

:00:38. > :00:40.During the battle for votes, the DUP took out a newspaper advert

:00:41. > :00:48.Last night on the leader's debate, Arlene Foster was challenged

:00:49. > :00:59.Did your party get payment for the advertising?

:01:00. > :01:01.Can you tell us here now who the donations are from?

:01:02. > :01:07.They're from an organisation in England that wants to see the union

:01:08. > :01:11.kept, and to make sure we have a United Kingdom.

:01:12. > :01:22.Later on the BBC programme The View, the DUP leader was challenged again.

:01:23. > :01:25.I don't have the figure so I don't know how much it was.

:01:26. > :01:31.I'm not here to speculate, I don't have the figures.

:01:32. > :01:36.You received a large amount of money and you have no idea?

:01:37. > :01:39.I'm not saying I have no idea, I'm saying to you it was

:01:40. > :01:50.While this relates to the EU referendum, the general issue

:01:51. > :01:59.Stormont parties are not required to reveal sources of donations.

:02:00. > :02:02.If this donation had been made to it political party in the rest

:02:03. > :02:05.of the United Kingdom, when the Electoral Commission

:02:06. > :02:08.announces its findings, we would see who made that donation.

:02:09. > :02:11.But because that donation for the Brexit campaign was made

:02:12. > :02:15.through a Northern Irish party, we won't find out who got the money.

:02:16. > :02:19.Last month, the Secretary of State wrote to the parties

:02:20. > :02:21.asking for their views on whether it was time

:02:22. > :02:28.Some argue that change needs to happen immediately.

:02:29. > :02:31.We would like to see full transparency, like the rest

:02:32. > :02:36.of the UK, like most of the rest of the world, as soon as possible.

:02:37. > :02:40.If it can be done, by 2nd March, so people are making

:02:41. > :02:43.Some are suggesting the parties should independently

:02:44. > :02:49.The parties completely have it within their gift

:02:50. > :02:57.this is where the money came from and this is what it was for.

:02:58. > :03:06.It's hard to believe that a significant donation of this size,

:03:07. > :03:10.over ?250,000, much more than any party in Northern Ireland would

:03:11. > :03:12.normally get, that they cannot remember who it came from.

:03:13. > :03:15.The DUP spokesman said there was no plans to name the donor and refused

:03:16. > :03:17.to answer whether there are any additional fees

:03:18. > :03:21.The spokesperson said all these are registered

:03:22. > :03:23.with the Electoral Commission, and details of funding would be

:03:24. > :03:30.The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that its former minister,

:03:31. > :03:34.Michelle O'Neill, only learned of the huge hole in

:03:35. > :03:37.the Renewable Heat Incentive budget as the scheme was closing.

:03:38. > :03:41.There'd been criticism of the Sinn Fein leader at Stormont

:03:42. > :03:43.after it emerged her department had facilitated dozens of events for

:03:44. > :03:46.farmers at which the controversial scheme was promoted.

:03:47. > :03:48.The department says Mrs O'Neill only found out about the budgetary

:03:49. > :03:53.pressures on the scheme when she received a letter

:03:54. > :03:58.from Jonathan Bell, the then DETI minister in February 2016,

:03:59. > :04:05.Police say those who shot a 16-year-old boy in west Belfast

:04:06. > :04:09.last night are predators operating with no accountability.

:04:10. > :04:13.The teenager was shot in the leg at Forest Street,

:04:14. > :04:19.The attack came just 24 hours after another shooting in the area.

:04:20. > :04:32.One resident described hearing something outside on the street.

:04:33. > :04:42.There was a noise, and I said it must be the TV.

:04:43. > :04:44.The shooting here is the second to happen in 24 hours

:04:45. > :04:51.On Wednesday night, a man was shot a number of times in both legs

:04:52. > :04:54.Police say it's too early to both attacks.

:04:55. > :04:56.The shots on Wednesday night were recorded on the mobile

:04:57. > :05:05.Police believe dissident republicans may be behind both attacks.

:05:06. > :05:09.We are hugely concerned, as the community is as well.

:05:10. > :05:11.The incident last night was a 16-year-old boy.

:05:12. > :05:15.We are calling it what this is - these are predators operating

:05:16. > :05:18.in the community with no accountability, skulking

:05:19. > :05:21.the shadows, running away after they've used a young boy

:05:22. > :05:34.We find that violent dissident republicans use this behaviour all

:05:35. > :05:37.the time. The Secretary of State described

:05:38. > :05:39.the attack as shocking and brutal. Those who work in the community

:05:40. > :05:42.say they're concerned about what appears to be a rise

:05:43. > :05:53.in so-called punishment shootings. What I would say very

:05:54. > :05:56.clearly is that we condemn Police say they've increased patrols

:05:57. > :06:04.in the area and have called on the community to help them

:06:05. > :06:07.catch those responsible. BBC Newsline has learned

:06:08. > :06:09.that two councils here - Belfast and Derry City and Strabane

:06:10. > :06:12.- are to work on a joint bid to become European Capital

:06:13. > :06:15.of Culture in 2023. Although the title is usually

:06:16. > :06:19.awarded to a single city, the councils say a joint approach

:06:20. > :06:23.has more chance of success. Here's our arts correspondent,

:06:24. > :06:26.Robbie Meredith. I'm sorry to say that it is bad news

:06:27. > :06:36.for us. We've been here before,

:06:37. > :06:39.and the party fell flat. But over a decade since Belfast's

:06:40. > :06:41.last attempt failed, it's now set to try again,

:06:42. > :06:44.this time with help The City Council is exploring

:06:45. > :06:54.a combined bid with Derry, UK capital culture four years

:06:55. > :06:56.ago, and Strabane. According to Belfast Council

:06:57. > :06:58.documents seen by the BBC, officials say a joint bid would be

:06:59. > :07:01.a stronger proposition, A bid has to be made by October

:07:02. > :07:20.2017, and would cost up Council committees in both cities

:07:21. > :07:21.have just backed the proposal so it is early days but they are being

:07:22. > :07:23.told to proceed. Keeping our profile high in Europe

:07:24. > :07:36.at the moment is great. This is a very much a first step,

:07:37. > :07:41.but that does not make it a fantasy. A UK city is set to be

:07:42. > :07:44.European Capital of Culture Cities like Leeds and Dundee have

:07:45. > :07:53.already thrown their hats into the ring, Belfast,

:07:54. > :07:58.Derry and Strabane will have to act more quickly to catch up,

:07:59. > :08:01.but at the moment it is very much Football, and in the Irish

:08:02. > :08:05.Premiership tonight, there were wins The games between Linfield

:08:06. > :08:08.and Portadown and Cliftonville and Glentoran both

:08:09. > :08:11.ended in 1-1 draws. And in ice hockey, the Belfast

:08:12. > :08:16.Giants lost 4-3 to Cardiff. Now let's get the weather prospects

:08:17. > :08:28.for the weekend, with Cecilia Daly. A bit of a damp night out there.

:08:29. > :08:35.There will be some rain and drizzle and if anything it will become more

:08:36. > :08:39.persistent from the West. Quite foggy over the hills but at least it

:08:40. > :08:47.is mild. The mild theme continues over this weekend. Some of that damp

:08:48. > :08:55.drizzly weather will return on Sunday. Temperatures continue to be

:08:56. > :09:00.above-average. You might miss the worst of the dampness tomorrow as it

:09:01. > :09:08.will be early. By around the middle of the morning most places are dry

:09:09. > :09:11.and skies will start to Brighton. There will be some sunshine across

:09:12. > :09:18.the Republic and towards the east coast. Cloud across Scotland and

:09:19. > :09:24.northern England were some drizzle. It is largely dry in the south of

:09:25. > :09:33.England. Quite springlike tomorrow afternoon in Northern Ireland. Most

:09:34. > :09:42.places will stay dry. It should feel quite nice at the rugby. Damp

:09:43. > :09:50.drizzly weather in the West on Sunday. The best of the dry and

:09:51. > :09:51.bright weather in the East. Temperatures could reach 15 degrees

:09:52. > :09:52.on Monday. We're back at 5:20pm

:09:53. > :09:55.tomorrow evening. In the meantime, you can also keep

:09:56. > :09:58.updated with News Online.
