:00:21. > :00:24.He was admitted to hospital and died nearly two weeks later.

:00:25. > :00:26.The 27-year-old man who's been charged will appear

:00:27. > :00:31.at Belfast Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

:00:32. > :00:34.Baroness O'Loan has told the House of Lords that the Assembly election

:00:35. > :00:36.will inevitably result in direct rule.

:00:37. > :00:38.During a debate on the government's bill to trigger Brexit,

:00:39. > :00:40.she also said leaving the EU would recreate the border

:00:41. > :00:51.between north and south and precipitate a border referendum.

:01:33. > :01:34.Nine people have been arrested by detectives investigating a spate

:01:35. > :01:37.of arson attacks on the homes and cars of police officers.

:01:38. > :01:39.The Police Federation has condemned the attacks,

:01:40. > :01:43.saying they are a clear attempt to bully, intimidate and terrorise.

:01:44. > :01:46.Catherine Morrison reports from Musgrave Street police station

:01:47. > :01:51.in Belfast where the group is being questioned.

:01:52. > :01:54.This all began with a series of early morning raids

:01:55. > :01:56.in Larne, Lisburn, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon.

:01:57. > :02:00.Six men and three women were arrested.

:02:01. > :02:03.They were brought here to Musgrave Street police

:02:04. > :02:05.station for questioning on a

:02:06. > :02:08.number of offences including arson, arson with intent to endanger life

:02:09. > :02:12.and conspiracy to cause an explosion.

:02:13. > :02:16.The PSNI has told us the operation is in connection with

:02:17. > :02:18.targeting serving police officers in arson attacks.

:02:19. > :02:22.We do not have many details on this but what we do

:02:23. > :02:25.know is that between April and July of last year, in the Banbridge,

:02:26. > :02:28.Portadown and Gilford areas, a number of officers had their

:02:29. > :02:34.vehicles and homes set on fire and in some cases destroyed.

:02:35. > :02:36.This morning, at the same time as the

:02:37. > :02:39.arrests were made, searches were carried out and a number

:02:40. > :02:43.of items taken away for further examination.

:02:44. > :02:47.The police haven't done any interviews about this

:02:48. > :02:50.but in a statement, DI Keith Gawley described these as serious,

:02:51. > :02:54.life endangering attacks on officers and appealed for anyone with any

:02:55. > :03:00.information about the attacks to contact detectives.

:03:01. > :03:03.He also revealed there is a drugs links to

:03:04. > :03:08.the case and these 9 people are also being questioned about possessing

:03:09. > :03:15.class A, B and C drugs and intending to supply them.

:03:16. > :03:18.A teenager accused of the manslaughter

:03:19. > :03:22.of a County Fermanagh boy has pleaded not guilty.

:03:23. > :03:25.Thirteen year old Oisin McGrath from Belcoo died following a playground

:03:33. > :03:35.19-year-old Francis McDermott is accused of unlawfully killing Oisin

:03:36. > :03:42.When that charge was put to him today he

:03:43. > :03:52.The McGrath family were in court and heard the defence

:03:53. > :03:59.solicitor say the case would be conducted in such a way

:04:00. > :04:01.to minimise their pain as far as possible.

:04:02. > :04:05.Oisin McGrath was taken to hospital following an incident in

:04:06. > :04:06.the playground at Saint Michael's College.

:04:07. > :04:09.At the time of the incident Francis McDermott was in the sixth

:04:10. > :04:19.A defence lawyer said that an unusual set of circumstances led

:04:20. > :04:27.to the collapse and death of Oisin McGrath.

:04:28. > :04:28.He said further expert analysis was required.

:04:29. > :04:30.The case is said to last three weeks.

:04:31. > :04:33.Francis McDermott is now a university student and was

:04:34. > :04:42.Five pipe bombs and ammunition have been found in West Belfast.

:04:43. > :04:47.The haul was removed by the army from a house in Conway Street.

:04:48. > :04:49.The police say their search of the property was part

:04:50. > :04:56.of an investigation into organised criminality linked to the INLA.

:04:57. > :05:06.The police are treating a petrol bomb attack on a car belonging

:05:07. > :05:10.on fire at Towerview Crescent in Bangor, last night.

:05:11. > :05:13.The car, which was parked in the driveway of the family home,

:05:14. > :05:16.Two masked men were seen in the area at the time.

:05:17. > :05:18.Sinn Fein have described the incident as an attack

:05:19. > :05:23.The DUP in the area has asked anyone with information about the attack

:05:24. > :05:30.The Alliance Party Leader Naomi Long has admitted that she called two

:05:31. > :05:32.councillors who recently left the party "balloons".

:05:33. > :05:39.after her party's election manifesto launch Naomi Long also talked

:05:40. > :05:43.about a newspaper story which reported that Alliance had

:05:44. > :05:45.encouraged members to ring a BBC election phone-in with what were

:05:46. > :05:50.She said it was "a storm in a tea cup."

:07:04. > :07:12.in terms of RHI and how it was handled.

:07:13. > :07:15.Crucially we were brought here by a breakdown in respect of

:07:16. > :07:18.The Alliance Party say they have big plans for a

:07:19. > :07:42.change, including what they see as the abuse of petitions of concern.

:07:43. > :07:47.They want to introduce a single equality Bill and a special status

:07:48. > :07:51.They say integrated education should be expanded and they will oppose any

:07:52. > :07:56.We would hope to hold our MLAs and we

:07:57. > :07:58.seek opportunities for growth in other areas.

:07:59. > :08:02.This is not the only election so we are looking forward

:08:03. > :08:05.to the local council in future elections as well and try to grow

:08:06. > :08:07.the party outside this firm base we have established.

:08:08. > :08:11.At the last election the Alliance vote went down and the new leader

:08:12. > :08:16.says any increase will be regarded as a good result.
