:00:14. > :00:17.prisoner in their Craigavon home for eight years.

:00:18. > :00:20.During that time they continually sexually abused their victim,

:00:21. > :00:22.who has severe learning difficulties.

:00:23. > :00:25.The police officer in charge of the case said it was the most

:00:26. > :00:31.61-year-old Keith Baker was sentenced to 15 years in jail

:00:41. > :00:44.A room without comfort which was home to a life

:00:45. > :00:48.without dignity, love, hope or escape.

:00:49. > :00:53.For eight years this tiny dirty room without bed sheets, curtain,

:00:54. > :00:57.light or carpet was all the Bakers' victim saw of the world.

:00:58. > :01:05.A week before Christmas 2012, police officers acting on a request

:01:06. > :01:22.Soon the full horror of what had been going on the to be revealed.

:01:23. > :01:26.This isn't just physical abuse and physical maltreatment. There is a

:01:27. > :01:28.depraved sexual element to this. This woman was raped

:01:29. > :01:29.repeatedly by Baker, who was aided and abetted

:01:30. > :01:31.by his wife. It would also appear these depraved

:01:32. > :01:35.sexual assaults were recorded The judge said it was difficult

:01:36. > :01:38.to understand how the Bakers as a couple had so lost their moral

:01:39. > :01:41.compass as to treat the woman the way they did, but he said

:01:42. > :01:44.sentencing them individually He described Keith Baker

:01:45. > :01:52.as a Svengali figure whereas Caroline Baker was a pawn

:01:53. > :01:57.doing his wedding. whereas Caroline Baker

:01:58. > :01:59.was a pawn doing his bidding. The Bakers lived in these two houses

:02:00. > :02:02.which had been knocked into one They are now occupied by people

:02:03. > :02:06.with no relation to the Bakers. There was Keith, Caroline,

:02:07. > :02:08.their four children and Mandy Highfield,

:02:09. > :02:11.who lived as effectively another wife with four children

:02:12. > :02:16.she and Keith had together. Finally there was the vulnerable

:02:17. > :02:23.woman kept hidden from view. These photos show the family's

:02:24. > :02:25.well-stocked fridge but for When rescued she was

:02:26. > :02:31.so malnourished that almost I think in my time in the police

:02:32. > :02:41.I have never come across a crime To keep this secret

:02:42. > :02:45.required great control. A woman who knew the family but does

:02:46. > :02:50.not want to be identified said Baker achieved this

:02:51. > :02:52.by running Her words are spoken

:02:53. > :02:57.by a member of our staff. He used to stand outside the doctors

:02:58. > :03:02.because I would have He would stand outside the doctors

:03:03. > :03:08.watching what she said. It was revealed in court that

:03:09. > :03:14.Keith and Caroline Baker first met in the 1970s

:03:15. > :03:18.when they were in the Salvation Army, but as a prosecuting lawyer

:03:19. > :03:22.put it, Keith Baker's life was dominated by his sexual wants

:03:23. > :03:28.and desires, which were to culminate in the keeping of this woman

:03:29. > :03:31.as a virtual prisoner Tonight it is the Bakers

:03:32. > :03:35.who are prisoners The woman who initially

:03:36. > :03:44.alerted the police She has been speaking

:03:45. > :03:49.to Gordon Adair. If we'd go out he would be

:03:50. > :03:52.as nice as pie, and then when we were on our own he'd hit me

:03:53. > :03:58.because I was chatting to people. I wasn't allowed to talk

:03:59. > :04:02.to anybody or have friends At some point a third woman

:04:03. > :04:05.came into the picture. There was no light bulb and no

:04:06. > :04:19.lights, no carpet on the floor, It was only when I was in the police

:04:20. > :04:33.station that I found out that Caroline was helping Keith

:04:34. > :04:35.to sexually assault her. I didn't know anything

:04:36. > :04:37.about Caroline assaulting her. Disgusted because Caroline

:04:38. > :04:42.was like a sister to me and I thought she couldn't do

:04:43. > :04:46.something like that The police say five sudden deaths

:04:47. > :04:55.in Belfast since Friday The deaths include a 16-year-old

:04:56. > :05:01.girl and four men. At this stage the police don't

:05:33. > :05:37.politicians and police, today was about the people

:05:58. > :06:09.a 27-year-old woman who travelled to this beautiful island

:06:10. > :06:17.for her honeymoon. Michaela had her whole

:06:18. > :06:23.life ahead of her. She had so much life to live,

:06:24. > :06:29.so much love to give. He then announced a reward -

:06:35. > :06:39.who comes forward with information which leads to the conviction

:06:40. > :06:43.of his wife's killers. If anyone can provide information

:06:44. > :06:49.that will subsequently be used and will lead to a successful

:06:50. > :06:55.conviction in court for the people responsible for Michaela's murder,
