:00:00. > 3:59:59the community is pushed away so a bit fresher. And it will feel

:00:00. > :00:07.Good afternoon. bit fresher. And it will feel warm

:00:08. > :00:36.Last month, in an unprecedented move, over 40 primary is -- primary

:00:37. > :00:40.school principals brought to parents and the department saying they were

:00:41. > :00:44.prepared to go into budget deficit -- deficit rather than make cuts

:00:45. > :00:48.they said would affect their pupils. The other alternative is to lose a

:00:49. > :00:53.single classroom teaching assistant, and that will mean we cannot deliver

:00:54. > :00:58.an education that will meet the needs of every child in our school.

:00:59. > :01:03.That is simply intolerable, and we cannot go ahead with it. But now the

:01:04. > :01:07.department has responded. The top finance official has written to

:01:08. > :01:12.schools saying that deficits must be avoided, and that any actions that

:01:13. > :01:16.can be taken are taken, to make sure that does not happen.

:01:17. > :01:20.And that puts the focus firmly back on the school principals and the

:01:21. > :01:25.board of governors, to decide their next move. But with absolutely no

:01:26. > :01:27.sign of any big boost to the money schools get, it is difficult to see

:01:28. > :01:29.how this stand-off will be resolved. Around 50 people attended a public

:01:30. > :01:32.meeting last night in Dunmurry, to discuss the rise in the number

:01:33. > :01:34.of drug-related deaths It was organised by families

:01:35. > :01:38.whose children have died from taking prescription drugs

:01:39. > :01:47.in the last month. It's the first day of this

:01:48. > :01:49.year's Balmoral Show. Tens of thousands of people

:01:50. > :01:52.are expected to travel to the site just outside Lisburn over

:01:53. > :02:05.the next four days. Michael, the sun is out. Everyone is

:02:06. > :02:11.very relaxed here at the Balmoral Show. Which for the first time in a

:02:12. > :02:14.long time has been extended to four days, Wednesday through to Saturday.

:02:15. > :02:19.We've already had some fantastic show jumping here, and now we are

:02:20. > :02:24.enjoying the acrobatics of the Kangaroo kid. People have been

:02:25. > :02:27.arriving since early morning, there has been livestock judging, people

:02:28. > :02:32.have been looking around the fantastic machinery, there are food

:02:33. > :02:39.stalls, plenty of delights to eight, in fact it is a perfect fun day out

:02:40. > :02:47.for adults and children alike. With me is wander from the organisers.

:02:48. > :02:54.What difference practically it 's four days this year mean to your?

:02:55. > :02:59.We'll have a lot more -- we have a lot more things to put together,

:03:00. > :03:06.we've had to redo our wholesale Joel and add more classes. We've moved

:03:07. > :03:11.our championships to the Saturday. Why did you extend it to four days?

:03:12. > :03:17.Really responding to people post might demand that they wanted it to

:03:18. > :03:22.be here if they haven't had time to take time off for the show. In

:03:23. > :03:29.previous years, we've had problems with traffic queues, and people have

:03:30. > :03:34.complained a lot about that. Rubel wrote -- roads in and I rolled --

:03:35. > :03:39.rural roads in and around the park. We're working very hard -- very

:03:40. > :03:44.closely with the other agencies, with the police and the transport

:03:45. > :03:48.companies to help us get in and out -- help them get in and out of the

:03:49. > :03:51.park as quickly as possible, and encouraging people to take the train

:03:52. > :03:58.to Lisburn and the shuttle bus adhere to the park. I will be here

:03:59. > :04:02.at 6:30pm this evening, when we are getting a little bit more serious.

:04:03. > :04:03.We are talking about the state of the farming industry, present and

:04:04. > :04:04.future. Prince Charles and the Duchess

:04:05. > :04:07.of Cornwall have been visiting PSNI headquarters in East Belfast

:04:08. > :04:09.during day two of their visit. Later they'll head to the Republic,

:04:10. > :04:24.where they'll meet the Irish Prince Charles and the Duchess of

:04:25. > :04:30.Cornwall make their way through the PSNI memorial Garden. They stopped

:04:31. > :04:34.to talk to families. It is their day, and the Prince is there to

:04:35. > :04:40.officially open the garden, in memory of 13 members of the PSNI,

:04:41. > :04:49.two of whom were killed by dissident republicans. The widow of one was

:04:50. > :04:54.among the families attending the event. It's been a very fitting day,

:04:55. > :05:00.a very touching day, and tinged with sadness and gladness as well. 13

:05:01. > :05:06.names on the memorial wall. The Chief Constable is mindful of the

:05:07. > :05:13.ongoing security threat. It is 13 to many, and we would hope that we are

:05:14. > :05:19.still dealing in a very volatile policing environment at times, but

:05:20. > :05:24.thankfully things have moved on. Policing is a dangerous occupation,

:05:25. > :05:29.so we don't want to see any more names on that ball. The royal couple

:05:30. > :05:33.have a number of other engagements in Northern Ireland, but -- before

:05:34. > :05:35.they make their way to the Republic. -- any more names on that wall.

:05:36. > :05:38.Rugby, and Ireland will face Scotland and the hosts

:05:39. > :05:40.Japan in the group stage of the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

:05:41. > :05:43.After the draw, Ireland's Jamie Heaslip said avoiding South Africa,

:05:44. > :05:48.France and Wales was a big thing for the team.

:05:49. > :05:50.Institute and Carrick Rangers will go into the second leg

:05:51. > :05:52.of the promotion-relegation play-off, tied on 1-1

:05:53. > :05:56.A place in the top tier is up for grabs.

:05:57. > :06:19.Having finished runners-up in the Championship, it was Institute who

:06:20. > :06:22.struck first at home. They took the lead five minutes before half-time.

:06:23. > :06:30.But the advantage didn't take -- last long. This cross was thought --

:06:31. > :06:39.found to be -- found to have been handled. Carrick drew level. Both

:06:40. > :06:47.sides did push for a winner. Michael McDermott's header was cleared off

:06:48. > :06:50.the line, while Carrick substitute's effort was ruled out for offside. It

:06:51. > :06:52.is all to play for in Friday's second leg.

:06:53. > :07:07.Hello there. Another day of sunshine for many parts of the UK and

:07:08. > :07:11.Ireland. Slight change in wind direction, though, has brought this

:07:12. > :07:15.bank of cloud close to the north coast, so there will be a little bit

:07:16. > :07:19.of cloud flirting with the North coast at times, but this is how it

:07:20. > :07:24.looked from Ruslan on the family earlier. Beautiful bare at the

:07:25. > :07:31.Balmoral Show, but there is the risk of a few showers on Friday. --

:07:32. > :07:35.beautiful there. But it is dry everywhere across Northern Ireland

:07:36. > :07:40.today. The light onshore breeze will mean it is a little bit cooler and

:07:41. > :07:44.cloudy at times on the north coast, with highest temperatures across

:07:45. > :07:51.Belfast, parts of south Fermanagh 17 or 18 degrees. And of course it --

:07:52. > :07:54.it is strong sunshine, so if you are spending long time outside perhaps

:07:55. > :07:59.the Balmoral Show, you will need some cream. Still bits of cloud on

:08:00. > :08:03.the north coast, but otherwise temperatures tonight could get very

:08:04. > :08:07.low again, and there could be a touch of frost first thing in parts

:08:08. > :08:13.of the countryside. But first looks like another fine day with plenty of

:08:14. > :08:17.sunshine; probably the last day of unbroken sunshine. Kumar on the east

:08:18. > :08:20.coast, but warmer tomorrow up on the north coast. Some showers around

:08:21. > :08:22.though on Thursday night and on Friday.

:08:23. > :08:25.Schools have been told by the Department for Education

:08:26. > :08:27.that they must avoid planning to go into budget deficit.

:08:28. > :08:31.The warning is in response to plans by some principals in the Belfast

:08:32. > :08:41.area to go into the red, rather than make cuts to staff.

:08:42. > :08:44.Around 50 people attended a public meeting last night in Dunmurry,

:09:04. > :09:08.just outside Lisburn over the next four days.

:09:09. > :09:11.The event has been extended to end on Saturday evening instead

:09:12. > :09:19.Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have been visiting PSNI

:09:20. > :09:21.headquarters in East Belfast during day two of their visit.
