:00:00. > 3:59:59on those stories throughout the BBC News

:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening and welcome to BBC Newsline.

:00:11. > :00:13.The board of the Olympic Council of Ireland is to hold a special

:00:14. > :00:16.meeting in Dublin tomorrow to discuss the arrest and jailing

:00:17. > :00:20.of its former president, Pat Hickey, in Brazil earlier this week.

:00:21. > :00:23.Mr Hickey faces allegations that he was linked to the illegal

:00:24. > :00:31.By this time tomorrow, the man who steered

:00:32. > :00:35.Ireland's Olympic Council for 27 years will be preparing

:00:36. > :00:38.for his third night here at the notorious

:00:39. > :00:46.As his former colleagues return home to Dublin to discuss his arrest

:00:47. > :00:48.and allegations of his involvement in illegal ticket sales,

:00:49. > :00:53.71-year-old Pat Hickey will be sharing a cell in a prison more

:00:54. > :00:59.accustomed to gangland criminals than elderly Olympic officials.

:01:00. > :01:02.Pat Hickey and Kevin Mallon, another Irish man arrested

:01:03. > :01:07.on similar charges, both deny any wrongdoing.

:01:08. > :01:10.The board of the Irish Olympic Council, which includes former

:01:11. > :01:14.Olympian Sonia O'Sullivan and the FAI chief executive

:01:15. > :01:17.John Delaney, has said it will co-operate fully

:01:18. > :01:23.Yesterday, the Irish Sports Minister said a retired judge would head up

:01:24. > :01:26.that inquiry - an investigation that will attempt to get to the bottom

:01:27. > :01:31.of what exactly was the connection, if any, between Pat Hickey

:01:32. > :01:40.The broadcaster Gloria Hunniford has spoken out after falling victim

:01:41. > :01:45.to fraudsters who stole ?120,000 from her bank account.

:01:46. > :01:48.A woman posing as the Rip Off Britain presenter went into a branch

:01:49. > :01:51.of the Santander bank and was able to access

:01:52. > :01:56.The woman and her accomplice, who pretended to be her daughter,

:01:57. > :02:00.Santander has since reimbursed the money.

:02:01. > :02:04.However, speaking on Radio Ulster's On Your Behalf, Ms Hunniford said

:02:05. > :02:16.The only reason I'm doing this interview is to warn people that

:02:17. > :02:22.even when you think your money is safe, scammers these days Art Dali

:02:23. > :02:26.extremely clever for in this case it would be almost laughable if it

:02:27. > :02:30.wasn't serious, I question, and I am generalising here, bank security.

:02:31. > :02:32.Santander says that since the incident it

:02:33. > :02:34.has made improvements to its security procedures.

:02:35. > :02:37.A 26-year-old man has been attacked at a house in Larne.

:02:38. > :02:40.Six masked men forced their way into the house on Recreation Road

:02:41. > :02:44.at around 11:30pm last night and assaulted him.

:02:45. > :02:47.He's been treated in hospital but his injuries

:02:48. > :02:55.Two men and a 16-year-old girl have been charged with a number

:02:56. > :02:56.The Polish community's contribution to life

:02:57. > :02:57.in Northern Ireland, particularly during

:02:58. > :02:58.the Second World War, has been celebrated

:02:59. > :03:03.For Your Freedom and Ours was launched as part of the official

:03:04. > :03:06.It's been partly funded by the Department of Communities.

:03:07. > :03:12.Celebrating a shared history through music in a mainly loyalist

:03:13. > :03:18.Relations between the two have been difficult,

:03:19. > :03:20.with a number of racially motivated attacks over the years.

:03:21. > :03:23.But it seems a corner has been turned.

:03:24. > :03:28.And with it, the hand of friendship offered.

:03:29. > :03:38.I think the bad stories are always promoted and publicised, at the

:03:39. > :03:44.moment relationships are really good and this is the example. A few years

:03:45. > :03:50.ago there were difficulties in East Belfast between both communities, at

:03:51. > :03:53.the moment with this side-by-side event and opening the community

:03:54. > :03:56.centre, we are trying to highlight the positive aspect of community

:03:57. > :04:00.relations. Sharing a stage, a British-born

:04:01. > :04:13.singer with roots in Poland and Ballymartin is aiming to look at

:04:14. > :04:17.doing various intercommunity projects into next year and this is

:04:18. > :04:23.only stage one of what we are trying to do, learning other cultures is an

:04:24. > :04:28.easy way to engage with people but Katie comes and talks about the

:04:29. > :04:31.military history of the area, so she is singing but also giving a bit of

:04:32. > :04:32.historical background. It would seem there's more to unite

:04:33. > :04:35.the two than divide them. Sport, and Ireland's Aileen Reid has

:04:36. > :04:38.finished 21st in the women's triathlon at the Olympic Games in

:04:39. > :04:39.Rio. The Derry athlete finished four

:04:40. > :04:42.minutes and 58 seconds behind the gold medal winner,

:04:43. > :04:46.Gwen Jorgensen of the USA. It hasn't been a great

:04:47. > :04:48.day weather-wise. Let's find out what's in store for

:04:49. > :05:00.the rest of the weekend. The worst of the wind and rain

:05:01. > :05:05.passed to the south of us, but still quite showery in places today

:05:06. > :05:09.especially Southern counties, and we are still likely to see some of

:05:10. > :05:13.those this evening, one or two could affect Bell sunny but tonight the

:05:14. > :05:18.westerly breeze clears them away, most places will end up dry through

:05:19. > :05:24.the night with variable cloud and quite mild. Tomorrow a better day,

:05:25. > :05:30.we soon see things brightening up, a lot of dry weather during the

:05:31. > :05:34.morning there are likely to be one or two showers, especially across

:05:35. > :05:39.Northern counties, and elsewhere across Ireland and Britain are much

:05:40. > :05:43.better day, winds a lot lighter than today, still a few showers towards

:05:44. > :05:47.the south-east of England and north-east of Scotland, but other

:05:48. > :05:53.than that a lot of dry weather and sunshine. Then we get rain pushing

:05:54. > :05:58.towards the south-west later in the day, probably not reaching Northern

:05:59. > :06:04.Ireland until the evening so in the afternoon it looks fine and dry with

:06:05. > :06:08.sunshine and temperatures up to 19 or 20, so not a bad day, there might

:06:09. > :06:14.be showers in the morning but they should fade away. On Monday after

:06:15. > :06:20.the rain moves through overnight, it clears away to leave a dry day and

:06:21. > :06:24.it should brighten up. On Tuesday we have a waving weather front

:06:25. > :06:29.affecting parts of the country and those waves could push rain towards

:06:30. > :06:32.us, especially eastern counties, but other than that mainly dry.

:06:33. > :06:35.BBC Newsline will be back tomorrow at 5:20pm.

:06:36. > :06:38.From everyone on the BBC Newsline team, goodbye.
