:00:00. > :00:00.Good evening. on the BBC News Channel,

:00:00. > :00:08.The son of former loyalist paramilitary leader Johnny Adair has

:00:09. > :00:16.Local police said they were called to reports of a body at a property

:00:17. > :00:19.in Troon in south Ayrshire yesterday evening.

:00:20. > :00:21.Officers said they were treating the death as unexplained

:00:22. > :00:25.and a post-mortem examination would be carried out.

:00:26. > :00:28.Jonathan Adair junior, who was in his early thirties,

:00:29. > :00:29.had recently been released from prison.

:00:30. > :00:32.He left Northern Ireland in 2003 along with his family

:00:33. > :00:38.A man in his forties is critically ill after a hit

:00:39. > :00:42.He was knocked down while walking on the Lisburn Road close

:00:43. > :00:46.to Wellesley Avenue shortly before 10 o'clock last night.

:00:47. > :00:50.Police say the silver car involved, which is believed to have

:00:51. > :00:52.significant frontal damage, didn't stop.

:00:53. > :00:55.The driver continued along the Lisburn Road following

:00:56. > :00:59.the crash, and then may have turned left towards the Malone Road.

:01:00. > :01:03.In Londonderry, a man in his twenties is critically ill

:01:04. > :01:05.after he was assaulted in Waterloo Street in the early

:01:06. > :01:13.An articulated lorry crashed into Foyleside shopping centre

:01:14. > :01:19.The Poundland vehicle had been parked nearby for a delivery,

:01:20. > :01:22.when it suddenly started rolling down a hill.

:01:23. > :01:24.No one was injured, but police are investigating the incident.

:01:25. > :01:32.BBC Newsline's Mark Simpson has been to the scene.

:01:33. > :01:40.The vehicle was found embedded into the side of Foyleside shopping

:01:41. > :01:44.centre at 4.45 this morning. Thanks to CCTV, the authorities now

:01:45. > :01:49.know how it got there. It had been involved in a delivery to Poundland

:01:50. > :01:52.am right at the top of this hill. Somehow, the vehicle careered out of

:01:53. > :01:58.control and bounced off that wall and then that wall. You can see the

:01:59. > :02:03.scrapes and the damage it caused. The vehicle weighed more than ten

:02:04. > :02:06.tonnes. It took out road bollards on the left-hand side before taking out

:02:07. > :02:11.two sets of traffic lights at the bottom, before crashing into

:02:12. > :02:15.Foyleside. The police know what happened, but they don't yet know

:02:16. > :02:21.how. An investigation is under way to see if there was a mechanical

:02:22. > :02:25.failure in the lorry, human error, or if passers-by deliberately let

:02:26. > :02:28.off the brakes. I understand from speaking to the police that they are

:02:29. > :02:31.keen to speak to three young males who were seen in the vicinity at the

:02:32. > :02:39.time of the incident. I would appeal to them to come

:02:40. > :02:42.forward, just to eliminate themselves. Someone could have come

:02:43. > :02:45.around the corner at the traffic lights, even at that time of the

:02:46. > :02:50.morning, and they would not have stood a chance. It is by the grace

:02:51. > :02:54.of God that no one was killed or injured. It took most of the day to

:02:55. > :02:56.remove the vehicle from the side of the shopping centre. It will take a

:02:57. > :03:00.lot longer to repair the damage. The Police Ombudsman has been asked

:03:01. > :03:03.to investigate why the PSNI has not questioned Martin McGuinness

:03:04. > :03:06.about Bloody Sunday. The DUP MP Gregory Campbell

:03:07. > :03:08.complained to the Ombudsman after police refused to say

:03:09. > :03:13.whether or not they plan to interview the Deputy First

:03:14. > :03:15.Minister. Mr Campbell says he should

:03:16. > :03:30.be questioned as part The same report that concluded that

:03:31. > :03:34.the soldiers had some questions to answer also concluded that Martin

:03:35. > :03:38.McGuinness probably had a submachinegun. Now, nobody seriously

:03:39. > :03:42.believes that Martin McGuinness was planting tomatoes with the

:03:43. > :03:45.submachinegun. He had a submachinegun. What was he doing

:03:46. > :03:48.with that? The police need to question him about that. They have

:03:49. > :03:54.failed to answer whether they are going to do that. Now it is the

:03:55. > :03:57.policing ombudsman's job to establish why they intend not to do

:03:58. > :03:59.it, and if necessary, to say that they should.

:04:00. > :04:01.Nama has reported its former Northern Ireland advisor

:04:02. > :04:03.Frank Cushnahan to the Garda and the National Crime Agency,

:04:04. > :04:07.The Sunday Times has reported that the move was prompted by last

:04:08. > :04:09.week's BBC Spotlight programme, which was broadcast last Tuesday.

:04:10. > :04:10.Mr Cushnahan has denied any wrongdoing.

:04:11. > :04:14.He told the BBC he wouldn't be providing any further response

:04:15. > :04:18.because of the ongoing NCA investigation.

:04:19. > :04:20.The police are understood to be investigating a death threat

:04:21. > :04:24.from dissident republicans against the Glentoran

:04:25. > :04:28.It's reported the former Glasgow Rangers player, who signed

:04:29. > :04:32.for the East Belfast side in July, was informed of the threat

:04:33. > :04:37.Glentoran have confirmed a threat has been made against one

:04:38. > :04:44.of their players and they say they're working with police.

:04:45. > :04:50.I understand that death threats have been received. Who they are from, I

:04:51. > :04:54.have no idea. I would appeal to anybody who does know to give that

:04:55. > :04:59.information to the police, because it is important that the culprit or

:05:00. > :05:04.culprits are apprehended. This is appalling. In my lifetime supporting

:05:05. > :05:11.Glentoran, I have been involved with many roles with them. I have only

:05:12. > :05:14.heard of one incident involving a threat against a Glentoran player.

:05:15. > :05:17.Team Ireland athlete Michael McKillop has

:05:18. > :05:18.struck gold again in the Paralympics.

:05:19. > :05:20.The Glengormley athlete clinched first place this

:05:21. > :05:24.from Canada's Liam Stanley to retain his 1,500 metre title.

:05:25. > :05:26.It's the fourth gold medal of McKillop's Paralympic career,

:05:27. > :05:32.having previously won at the Beijing and London Games.

:05:33. > :05:34.Meanwhile, Newtownards swimmer Bethany Firth came first in her 200m

:05:35. > :05:37.freestyle heat this afternoon and will aim to claim her second

:05:38. > :05:49.Now with the weather forecast, here's Cecilia Daly.

:05:50. > :05:54.It is still pretty blowing out there and it will stay quite windy

:05:55. > :05:58.tonight. There will be a lot of cloud around, some patches of rain

:05:59. > :06:03.from time to time. A much milder night than last night. By the end of

:06:04. > :06:07.the night, more persistent rain is likely in the West. That is a

:06:08. > :06:10.weather front which will cause us a few headaches this week. It means a

:06:11. > :06:15.risk of rain on most days, but it will not be raining all the time. To

:06:16. > :06:18.begin with tomorrow, there will be some warm weather around once again,

:06:19. > :06:20.but we will still have those gusty southerly winds in the morning. Most

:06:21. > :06:45.of the rain tomorrow will be in the West. In contrast, there

:06:46. > :06:47.could be sunshine across the East. The weather front is gradually

:06:48. > :06:49.edging eastwards across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and

:06:50. > :06:52.into the west of Scotland. Ahead of it, some lovely weather, with

:06:53. > :06:54.sunshine in the low or mid-20s. Before the rain arrives in Northern

:06:55. > :06:56.Ireland, temperatures could reach 21 degrees. Still windy initially, but

:06:57. > :06:59.the wind will drop out as the rain arrives. It looks like damp and Bell

:07:00. > :07:03.enter the day. The rain is still there on Tuesday, with little to

:07:04. > :07:09.push it away. It still threatens at times on Thursday, before it finally

:07:10. > :07:12.moves away later in the week. There will be some dry spells and odd bits

:07:13. > :07:17.of brightness and it will be warm at times, with temperatures generally a

:07:18. > :07:20.little above the average. But with prolonged rain, it will feel cooler.
