:01:34. > :01:36.Some believe that this so-called raw milk can have health benefits.

:01:37. > :01:44.But because of the potential risk of infection they're strictly monitored

:01:45. > :01:46.by the Food Standards Agency and must comply

:01:47. > :01:48.Our Agriculture and Environment Correspondent

:01:49. > :01:59.David Laughlin is one of only five farmers in northern Ireland licensed

:02:00. > :02:06.to sell unpasteurised milk to the public. He walked -- he washes the

:02:07. > :02:13.DV every morning and produces the milk to sell straight from the

:02:14. > :02:18.farmyard. Anything from 52 100 litres a day. It is wrong milk,

:02:19. > :02:25.unpasteurised milk she means it has not been heat treated to kill

:02:26. > :02:31.bacteria. He says his customers have made an informed decision. We have

:02:32. > :02:38.to taste -- test our milk weekly. We test for the nasties as it were,

:02:39. > :02:48.listeria, salmonella and Camp Hill pile-up actor. The pasteurisation of

:02:49. > :02:53.milk all but wiped out the transfer of TBT humans. Other risks include

:02:54. > :03:01.E. Coli, salmonella and listeria but to sell raw milk you have to sign up

:03:02. > :03:07.to her -- stringent hygiene testing regime. The milk self must carry a

:03:08. > :03:13.specific health warning insisted by the Food Standards Agency. We will

:03:14. > :03:19.have RFID consultation on enhanced warning early in the year which will

:03:20. > :03:23.say that the FSC strongly advise this is not concerned by vulnerable

:03:24. > :03:27.which includes pregnant women, older people and those with chronic

:03:28. > :03:33.illness or those who are currently unwell. Sales of raw milk are

:03:34. > :03:38.restricted to farmyards and farmers markets. The results of a twice

:03:39. > :03:45.yearly inspection and specific testing. Two meters of his milk will

:03:46. > :03:45.cost you ?1 50 at the farm. It is a niche but profitable business

:03:46. > :03:52.although one with lots of red tape. Reading out loud is part

:03:53. > :03:55.and parcel of this job, but for some children,

:03:56. > :03:57.it's a terrifying prospect. One school in County Down has

:03:58. > :03:59.taken a novel approach Louise Cullen went

:04:00. > :04:15.along to find out more. These listeners have many

:04:16. > :04:22.attributes. But pause, whiskers and a teal are not the first that

:04:23. > :04:25.springs to mind. From when she was a young daughter, just past being a

:04:26. > :04:31.crazy puppy she had a very placid nature and you Love meeting people,

:04:32. > :04:35.especially children. She even picks up if you are feeling down, she will

:04:36. > :04:42.come over to you and I think she picks up her the children are

:04:43. > :04:45.feeling as well which is lovely. Angel may not look like she is

:04:46. > :04:51.working very hard but the teachers believe she is. Research has shown

:04:52. > :04:55.that reading with dogs is a way to help children who are reluctant and

:04:56. > :04:59.give them the confidence of reading to the dog and the dog obviously

:05:00. > :05:05.will not judge the child for any mistakes they make. It's also a

:05:06. > :05:11.novelty for children as well. A novelty perhaps but they are already

:05:12. > :05:16.seeing results. Sometimes I get scared reading out to people but I

:05:17. > :05:21.think I will be OK reading to Angel. It gives you the confidence to lead

:05:22. > :05:29.to other people. I do not get nervous with Angel. Why's that?

:05:30. > :05:32.Because she sets and listens. They are just more self-assured. Some

:05:33. > :05:38.children are very nervous reading out loud but obviously reading to

:05:39. > :05:46.Angel is very comforting. It is a lovely environment and they are not

:05:47. > :05:51.in anyway. This dog story ends with this news. -- with our sleep.

:05:52. > :06:03.Happy New Year to you. It has not been a bad start. Lots of fine

:06:04. > :06:08.weather and sunshine but it has been cold and a warning for icy roads

:06:09. > :06:13.tonight. Especially in the north and west where we have had a few wintry

:06:14. > :06:17.showers. Widespread frost inland. Temperatures dropping so expected to

:06:18. > :06:25.be cold tomorrow morning. Very frosty in some areas but otherwise a

:06:26. > :06:28.fine indeed for those who are still on holiday. Lots of dry weather this

:06:29. > :06:31.week, all due to this area of high pressure, at least until late in the

:06:32. > :06:35.week when weather fronts coming from the Atlantic and winds are

:06:36. > :06:42.freshened. In the meantime, until Thursday it was largely dry, quite

:06:43. > :06:48.cold. Some sunshine during the day but on Thursday we will say things

:06:49. > :06:54.turn more unsettled. I surround in the morning. A few wintry showers

:06:55. > :06:59.around and northern bodies. Wrap up warmly and you can enjoy a lot of

:07:00. > :07:07.fine weather tomorrow. In many parts of the UK, nice weather and showers

:07:08. > :07:12.affecting the mountains in Scotland. Temperatures no higher than five or

:07:13. > :07:18.6 degrees. A couple of wintry showers. Frost tomorrow night which

:07:19. > :07:24.could mean an icy start in many regions. Not a bad day, generally

:07:25. > :07:26.dry still some brightness. A lot of dry and chilly weather to come this

:07:27. > :07:29.week. That's it for now. Our next BBC Newsline bulletin

:07:30. > :07:32.is shortly after ten
