:00:16. > :00:17.given the right to vote in Irish presidential elections.

:00:18. > :00:20.The Taoiseach Enda Kenny says the Irish Government will hold

:00:21. > :00:23.He made the announcement during a speech in America.

:00:24. > :00:37.And Kenny made the announcement as he began -- began a tour of US

:00:38. > :00:40.cities. He confirmed the Government had

:00:41. > :00:45.decided to move forward with plans to hold a referendum to give the

:00:46. > :00:50.right to vote in presidential elections to Irish citizens abroad

:00:51. > :00:55.and in Northern Ireland. There is no more fitting time, and no more

:00:56. > :00:58.fitting place, as we look forward to our worldwide celebration of St

:00:59. > :01:05.Patrick's day. And all but that means for what it is to be Irish.

:01:06. > :01:10.This decision of the Government is a clear recognition of the importance

:01:11. > :01:16.that Ireland touches to her citizens, wherever they may be, to

:01:17. > :01:26.our diaspora all over the world. The change would apply only to

:01:27. > :01:31.presidential elections, and not to Dail elections. More details will be

:01:32. > :01:35.published later this month. The referendum is unlikely to be held

:01:36. > :01:40.this year. Assuming it passes, the change would come into effect after

:01:41. > :01:42.the presidential election in 2018. As many as 1 million extra people

:01:43. > :01:45.would be eligible to vote. The Taoiseach's announcement has

:01:46. > :01:47.been welcomed by nationalists. Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams

:01:48. > :01:49.said his party had been pressing for citizens in the north

:01:50. > :01:52.to have a vote in Irish presidential elections

:01:53. > :01:54.since the Good Friday Agreement. SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said

:01:55. > :01:57.it was right that people here should have a voice

:01:58. > :02:05.in electing the president. Two men, believed to be a father

:02:06. > :02:08.and son, have been injured after their helicopter crash landed

:02:09. > :02:10.in the garden of a house It happened just outside Carlingford

:04:08. > :04:13.customers and staff in the bar. The police have described the assault is

:04:14. > :04:16.brutal, and there were serious head injuries. So it is very concerning.

:05:28. > :05:32.by the afternoon. A lot of fine weather to come across the UK and

:05:33. > :05:35.Ireland tomorrow, especially across the Republic in southern Britain.

:05:36. > :05:39.Some rain across North West Scotland later in the afternoon, and there

:05:40. > :05:43.will be one or two showers across Northern Ireland later in the day.

:05:44. > :05:49.But until then it looks like being dry with some sunshine. Then on

:05:50. > :05:51.Tuesday it is a much breezy day across northern Britain, Northern

:05:52. > :05:55.Ireland and the Republic. There will be some showers around as well, but

:05:56. > :06:01.further south towards London it should stay dry. On Wednesday still

:06:02. > :06:04.quite breezy in places, but it is a mild breeze so a lot of places will

:06:05. > :06:10.have a nice day on Wednesday, with some sunshine, most of the -- then

:06:11. > :06:14.on Thursday rain will affect more areas, especially across the north

:06:15. > :06:19.and west, and we will see a drop in temperature. So the first half of

:06:20. > :06:22.the week is mild, a few showers mainly on Tuesday, Thursday and

:06:23. > :06:27.Friday looked like being more unsettled and cooler. -- look like.
