:00:08. > :00:10.Police have launched a murder inquiry after the death

:00:11. > :00:12.of a 31-year-old man injured during an altercation

:00:13. > :00:17.He has been named as Paul McCready from north Belfast.

:00:18. > :00:28.Michael Fitzpatrick has been to the scene.

:00:29. > :00:33.The altercation took place in this part of the city centre shortly

:00:34. > :00:39.before 1am this morning. Ambulance crews were called to treat

:00:40. > :00:44.31-year-old Paul McCready, unconscious on the street outside a

:00:45. > :00:48.bar. The North Belfast man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital but

:00:49. > :00:52.later died from his injuries. This afternoon, the police, who are

:00:53. > :00:57.treating Paul McCready's death as murder, carried out an examination

:00:58. > :00:59.of the loyal end of the street surrounding the incident. This

:01:00. > :01:04.altercation took place at one of the busiest times of the week in the

:01:05. > :01:08.Cathedral Quarter. The police said there would be quite a number of

:01:09. > :01:09.people in the area at the time who witnessed what happened. They have

:01:10. > :01:15.appealed to them to come forward. A man has died in a car

:01:16. > :01:18.crash in County Down. It happened on the Saintfield Road

:01:19. > :01:21.in Crossgar early this morning. A 60-year-old man is in a serious

:01:22. > :01:27.condition in hospital after he was assaulted

:01:28. > :01:28.in Sperrin Park in And a 30-year-old man has been

:01:29. > :01:37.charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an assault

:01:38. > :01:39.on a 32-year-old man at Waterworks Park in

:01:40. > :01:44.north Belfast yesterday. The Democratic Unionist MP,

:01:45. > :01:47.Ian Paisley, says he intends to press the UK Government over

:01:48. > :01:50.allegations his father's phone The claims were made in a newspaper

:01:51. > :01:58.article by the former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott,

:01:59. > :02:00.who said he was told of the tap by then Prime

:02:01. > :02:10.Minister Tony Blair in 2005. Mr Prescott has opened up the black

:02:11. > :02:13.box into the dark arts of the Government. The Wilson protocol

:02:14. > :02:18.makes it clear that Members of Parliament are not to be wiretapped

:02:19. > :02:23.or slipped on by National Security Agency 's. Clearly, that has

:02:24. > :02:26.happened in this case. We were tipped off at the time of something

:02:27. > :02:31.like this was going on. I think that made us very alert to what should be

:02:32. > :02:35.said. I know that at the time, my father personally challenged Tony

:02:36. > :02:40.Blair about this and Tony Blair denied it. That, I think, shows the

:02:41. > :02:47.level of deceit to which the player Government was prepared to GOTO. --

:02:48. > :02:52.the Tony Blair Government. A confidential telephone line

:02:53. > :02:54.is to be set up in Mauritius for people to give information

:02:55. > :02:57.about the murder of Tyrone woman The move coincides with the visit

:02:58. > :03:01.to the island of her husband John McAreavey to try to help

:03:02. > :03:03.the police investigation. From Mauritius,

:03:04. > :03:07.Mark Simpson reports. One of the first things John

:03:08. > :03:10.McAreavey did in Mauritius was talk to his lawyer. They discussed plans

:03:11. > :03:13.to make a public appeal for more information about Michaela

:03:14. > :03:15.McAreavey's murder. In an interview at his office, the lawyer said the

:03:16. > :03:23.information did not have to go directly to the police. We can get

:03:24. > :03:28.anonymous information via the hotline. This is how it is done when

:03:29. > :03:31.you want to send information to the police and you don't want your

:03:32. > :03:39.identity to be revealed. Confidential hotline? Yes. The

:03:40. > :03:42.police are fully OK with that. John McAreavey will give more details on

:03:43. > :03:47.this at a news conference on Tuesday. At that conference, he will

:03:48. > :03:50.try to send a direct message to the people of Morrish is. He will say

:03:51. > :03:58.that he does not want sympathy but he wants their help.

:03:59. > :03:59.Sport now, and defending champion Jonathan Rea leads

:04:00. > :04:02.the World Superbikes Championship by 50 points despite losing out

:04:03. > :04:04.to rival Chaz Davies in race two at Aragon.

:04:05. > :04:06.In Gaelic football, Derry and Fermanagh are relegated

:04:07. > :04:10.Antrim will play Division 4 next year, meanwhile,

:04:11. > :04:12.Armagh missed out on promotion in Division 3.

:04:13. > :04:17.In Division 1, Tyrone, Donegal and Monaghan all lost.

:04:18. > :04:22.Now, here's Cecilia Daly with the weather.

:04:23. > :04:29.We have had a beautiful day today. Sunny skies in many places and small

:04:30. > :04:37.amounts of cloud. This is Ballantyne looking lovely on the north coast.

:04:38. > :04:45.Further along the coast, we have a lovely, colourful spring flowers.

:04:46. > :04:50.Good news this week. Not so much tomorrow. From Tuesday onwards,

:04:51. > :04:54.pretty settled. It will not be sunny overtime but some bright weather

:04:55. > :04:58.will be alone. Potentially one too chilly nights. Tonight will not be

:04:59. > :05:00.as cold as last night. There are some clear skies around at the

:05:01. > :05:04.moment but they will fill in with cloud rolling in the Atlantic. Maybe

:05:05. > :05:07.one or two spots of rain but most places dry. The breeze will pick up

:05:08. > :05:13.through the night and certainly will be quite blustery to start in the

:05:14. > :05:15.new week. Lots of cloud around competitively and rain at times.

:05:16. > :05:19.Many places getting away with the drive journey to work or school.

:05:20. > :05:22.Most of the rain sitting in the West. It is a weather front

:05:23. > :05:26.extending southwards across the Republic of Ireland. LA brightness

:05:27. > :05:29.and eased late as the rain slips eastwards across many parts of

:05:30. > :05:33.Ireland, north and south. Into the West of Scotland as well. It is

:05:34. > :05:36.cooler in the West compared to today. Eastern Scotland, much of

:05:37. > :05:41.England and East Wales should stay dry. That rain will continue to move

:05:42. > :05:45.eastwards across the Irish Sea, into the latter part of the day. Tomorrow

:05:46. > :05:51.afternoon, blustery, largely cloudy and rain on and off. It could end up

:05:52. > :05:56.quite wet and double honestly feel rather cool compared to today. But

:05:57. > :06:01.the rain does move away on Monday night. On Tuesday, some showers for

:06:02. > :06:04.the North of Scotland. Some rain for a time across south-east England,

:06:05. > :06:07.otherwise, many parts of the UK and Ireland will be dry with brisk winds

:06:08. > :06:12.over Scotland on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This ridge of high

:06:13. > :06:15.pressure is bringing in lots of dry, fine weather to the UK and Ireland

:06:16. > :06:18.and in the sunshine will feel quite nice. We should seek him because

:06:19. > :06:23.coming up a little bit as the meat goes on. Most of the dampness this

:06:24. > :06:24.coming week across the North of Scotland, otherwise, in many places,

:06:25. > :06:27.fine. That is it for now. Our next BBC Newsline bulletin

:06:28. > :06:30.is at 6.25 in the morning.
