:00:00. > :00:15.Hello, and welcome to South today. In tonight's programme, putting a

:00:16. > :00:22.stop to female circumcision. The NHS names Oxford as a high risk area for

:00:23. > :00:28.women. Also coming up, Swindon promises a safety review. Later in

:00:29. > :00:29.the programme, the life`saving heart that could help those who suffer

:00:30. > :00:47.heart attacks. Good evening. Oxford's been named by

:00:48. > :00:52.the NHS is a high risk area for the illegal practice of what was called

:00:53. > :00:56.female circumcision. The police say they have had nine possible cases of

:00:57. > :01:01.female genital mutilation reported to them in the last four years.

:01:02. > :01:04.Campaigners say the true figure is much higher. Tackling the practice

:01:05. > :01:09.will now be made a priority in our region by the police and crime

:01:10. > :01:15.commission. The report contains some upsetting details. As a

:01:16. > :01:21.nine`year`old in Zimbabwe, Abigail was told by her crying to inflict

:01:22. > :01:30.one of the least forms of female circumcision on herself.

:01:31. > :01:33.I can still remember now the pain that seared through me, and I was

:01:34. > :01:39.saying to myself, I'm not going to do this, even if it means for

:01:40. > :01:42.getting angry with me. I'm not going to do this, because it was so

:01:43. > :01:48.painful. Abigail is now campaigning to stop

:01:49. > :01:53.it happening to girls here. The NHS says Oxford and Milton Keynes are

:01:54. > :01:59.both high risk areas. Nine cases, which may have involved best have

:02:00. > :02:04.been reported in the last four years. Tackling it will be made

:02:05. > :02:09.priority in the crime plan for the Thames Valley. I'm worried about

:02:10. > :02:14.this in certain communities, but we have not had a single prosecution.

:02:15. > :02:20.It is time that we get. It is difficult for the police to find

:02:21. > :02:28.these cases. Were not quantifying this by ourselves. The long`term

:02:29. > :02:31.health effects can be physically and emotionally devastating. Abigail

:02:32. > :02:40.believes that working with communities at a local level. More

:02:41. > :02:43.girls becoming victims. It is not a medical procedure that adds any

:02:44. > :02:49.value to any women's lives. It is child abuse. Helen told me a little

:02:50. > :02:54.earlier that there is no call for better education in schools.

:02:55. > :02:56.As you heard on the report, the Police Commissioner thinks it is

:02:57. > :03:04.going to take more than just police work to MS crying `` to bring best

:03:05. > :03:09.crime to light and to successfully prosecute. County councillor has

:03:10. > :03:13.also added his voice to this, speaking on the Sunday Politics

:03:14. > :03:17.yesterday, saying that schools must be more vigilant and know how to

:03:18. > :03:24.report cases. What about the health service? They also said that the NHS

:03:25. > :03:28.needs to have a think again about confidentiality rules. The example

:03:29. > :03:33.he gave was that if you have an older sibling who has had this and

:03:34. > :03:38.the authorities now, the authorities should protect younger siblings.

:03:39. > :03:42.It's certainly an issue that has had a lot of little traction recently,

:03:43. > :03:48.and the Home Affairs Select Committee is said it will raise a

:03:49. > :03:55.investigation about this. Thanks very much.

:03:56. > :03:59.Motorists on the M 40 have faced hours of disruptions after a lorry

:04:00. > :04:02.carrying 14 tonnes of April rolls crashed into the central

:04:03. > :04:08.reservation. It happened at junction ten before three of court this

:04:09. > :04:14.morning. Barrier was destroyed and the vehicle split its full stomach

:04:15. > :04:18.fuel tanks. Recovery was able to stay be started before midday, but

:04:19. > :04:21.the operation has continued. Some people have been caught up in the

:04:22. > :04:24.daily for three hours, and in the past half hour, there have been

:04:25. > :04:30.ports offer for Clark accident in the queue.

:04:31. > :04:38.A women has been charged by police after a train struck a car on a

:04:39. > :04:41.level crossing. The women has been bailed to appear before Oxford Crown

:04:42. > :04:46.Court on the 6th of December. She has been charged of endangering

:04:47. > :04:50.safety on the railways without intent.

:04:51. > :04:54.Swindon Town football fan arrested after running onto the pitch and

:04:55. > :04:57.allegedly punching the opposition goalkeeper has been released on

:04:58. > :05:02.bail. Swindon will review its safety

:05:03. > :05:06.features, but could face an investigation.

:05:07. > :05:14.This is where the individual concerned was watching the game.

:05:15. > :05:19.Supporters are separated from the action by a narrow gangway, and this

:05:20. > :05:24.three feet high harrier. He claimed over it to get onto the pitch. It

:05:25. > :05:30.was near the end of the game winner 20 sexual man confronted the

:05:31. > :05:39.audience goalkeeper. He was unhurt. The ugly scenes were bought to an

:05:40. > :05:44.end by Stewart Dominic stewards. A man was arrested and later bailed. I

:05:45. > :05:49.haven't seen a scene like that for a long, long time. Football matches

:05:50. > :05:55.shouldn't have this kind of occurrence. He should be banned.

:05:56. > :05:59.Swindon have apologised and I saying they are happy with how they be

:06:00. > :06:08.acted. We reviewed the CC TV footage, and the stewards reacted

:06:09. > :06:15.very quickly. Wiltshire Police can also verify that and the referee in

:06:16. > :06:19.his report. The football Association have verified the happy with the

:06:20. > :06:27.action taken. Earlier this season, 31 people were charged over

:06:28. > :06:31.disruption at the distal Derby. The football Association say they are

:06:32. > :06:36.now speaking to both clubs before they take any further action, and

:06:37. > :06:39.Swindon have confirmed they have indefinitely suspended the

:06:40. > :06:42.individual from attending matches here until the legal process is

:06:43. > :06:46.completed. And we will have all the action from

:06:47. > :06:52.this weekend a little later in South today with Sally.

:06:53. > :06:56.A Greenpeace activist has been released from a Russian prison who

:06:57. > :07:00.he has been held for two months. Philip Ball, who is a member of the

:07:01. > :07:05.Arctic 30 is fizzing hooliganism charges after protesting in

:07:06. > :07:11.September. He was granted bail on Friday, but has been released today

:07:12. > :07:14.by a court in St Petersburg. I will be calling everyone I can as soon as

:07:15. > :07:20.I can. At this stage, there's nothing I can say. I'm pleased to be

:07:21. > :07:24.out of there, but I got the and was much more pleased to be out of the

:07:25. > :07:29.previous place which was a hellhole, but, yeah, I just want to go and

:07:30. > :07:34.meet the rest of the guys, the rest of the 30, and move onto the next

:07:35. > :07:40.stage. Campaigners against the planned

:07:41. > :07:43.high`speed rail line which will cut through children have taken their

:07:44. > :07:49.protest to Westminster today. It comes as the full details for the

:07:50. > :07:52.plan for the HS2 link between London and Birmingham are published.

:07:53. > :07:55.Hundreds of copies of the legislation which sets out exactly

:07:56. > :08:01.what would be built and where are to be distributed to those living near

:08:02. > :08:04.the right. You can't deny the Paralympic games were in many ways a

:08:05. > :08:07.huge success. The showcase the best sporting

:08:08. > :08:12.talent from throughout the world, but what about its legacy? Are more

:08:13. > :08:16.disabled people taking part in athletics? A recent report by the

:08:17. > :08:20.House of Lords found there is little evidence of that, but that does not

:08:21. > :08:24.seem to be true in Buckinghamshire, where participation is said to have

:08:25. > :08:28.dramatically increased. It was only 11 months ago when an

:08:29. > :08:37.accident at work changed 25`year`old Josh's life for ever. This year in

:08:38. > :08:42.January, I had an accident, where I fell down 15`20 steps and smashed my

:08:43. > :08:48.spine. He is said to be many in Buckinghamshire who refused the

:08:49. > :08:53.Paralympic games as an inspiration. The Paralympic events were really

:08:54. > :08:58.exploit Dominic inspiring `` inspiring, and I draw on that

:08:59. > :09:08.inspiration and identify how you can use that in May at rehabilitation.

:09:09. > :09:12.Here at halting tennis centre, they have seen a 300% rise in the number

:09:13. > :09:17.of disabled tennis players since the start of the year. But according to

:09:18. > :09:20.an influential group of peers in the House of Lords, the Paralympic games

:09:21. > :09:26.is not inspiring enough people across the UK as it promised that it

:09:27. > :09:30.would. A few miles up the road at this stadium, where people say that

:09:31. > :09:35.is not bear it experience. They have seen a 50% increase in disabled

:09:36. > :09:41.people using the facilities in the last year alone. Locally, there was

:09:42. > :09:47.great momentum following the Paralympic games. It has had a great

:09:48. > :09:50.impact on us, and we have seen interest increasing with disabled

:09:51. > :09:55.people trying to find out where they can play sport. There has been more

:09:56. > :09:59.in schools as well with young people interested in copying their

:10:00. > :10:06.Paralympic heroes. So participation in Buckinghamshire may be on the up,

:10:07. > :10:17.but if the legacy is going inspire generation, more work needs done.

:10:18. > :10:25.Finally, you may have heard the term bijo being used to describe a

:10:26. > :10:32.property, but this takes the biscuit! This pint sized property

:10:33. > :10:39.has been listed on an estate agent 's website. That is all for me. I

:10:40. > :10:40.will have the headlines at 8pm. Now, more of today's stories with Sally

:10:41. > :10:44.Taylor. The authority says it was a decision

:10:45. > :10:48.taken by the full council. Still to come: All change at

:10:49. > :10:57.Portsmouth Football Club as manager Guy Whittingham is sacked.

:10:58. > :11:00.The winter vomiting bug Norovirus has forced the closure of more wards

:11:01. > :11:05.at Southampton General Hospital. Seven wards have now been shut as a

:11:06. > :11:08.precaution. The highly contagious bug is airborne and hospital

:11:09. > :11:12.managers have advised people not to visit if they have had any sickness

:11:13. > :11:18.or diarrhoea symptoms in the last 48 hours.

:11:19. > :11:23.Smartphone applications, or apps as they're called, can be used for all

:11:24. > :11:27.sorts of handy tasks. Now there's one that could help treat a cardiac

:11:28. > :11:29.arrest. South Central Ambulance Service has designed a free tool

:11:30. > :11:32.that locates defibrillators, increasingly kept in public places

:11:33. > :11:39.like train stations, surgeries and shopping centres. The Service says

:11:40. > :11:47.it has no doubt the app will save lives.

:11:48. > :11:52.An emotional reunion for Colin and the lady who saved his life. Six

:11:53. > :11:54.years ago Colin collapsed with a cardiac arrest while coaching

:11:55. > :12:04.football at his local leisure centre. I am absolutely certain that

:12:05. > :12:08.if it did not happen here and the staff did not intervene in the way

:12:09. > :12:13.that they did, I definitely would not be here today. My youngest son

:12:14. > :12:20.was only two years old when I had my heart attack. If I had died, he

:12:21. > :12:23.would not know who I was. Now he is eight and he knows who I am and I am

:12:24. > :12:27.still here and I have watched my children grow up and they have had a

:12:28. > :12:30.dad. A defibrillator helped keep Colin alive. Now finding one should

:12:31. > :12:33.be easier. South Central Ambulance Service has designed a phone app

:12:34. > :12:42.that shows where nearby machines are kept. It is very easy. You click on

:12:43. > :12:49.the app itself and what it will do is it will tell us where we are and

:12:50. > :12:52.where are the rest if regulator is `` rainiest defibrillator. We have

:12:53. > :13:02.people who unquestionably would have been dead were not for you

:13:03. > :13:11.defibrillator. I have managed to find a defibrillator. I am assured

:13:12. > :13:17.it is easy`to`use. Plug in the pad connector next to the flashing

:13:18. > :13:21.light. It is incredibly straightforward to use, but this is

:13:22. > :13:26.where I need to start first aid with test impressions, two minutes of

:13:27. > :13:29.this and then the defibrillator will tell me to stop. Of course the

:13:30. > :13:33.Ambulance Service treats cardiac arrest as a top priority, but it's

:13:34. > :13:39.convinced the app will help at the scene of an emergency until expert

:13:40. > :13:42.help arrives. The magical world of Harry Potter

:13:43. > :13:46.has enchanted fans for years, now Hogwarts is coming to life in

:13:47. > :13:50.Florida, in part thanks to a company from West Sussex. Limehouse Lamp

:13:51. > :14:02.Company is providing nearly 300 lights for the Harry Potter

:14:03. > :14:07.Experience at Universal Studios. Everything here is done by hand and

:14:08. > :14:10.everything has to be perfect. This factory makes traditional English

:14:11. > :14:16.lights, just right for the Harry Potter franchise. Those sort of

:14:17. > :14:24.clients in this day and age are very hard to find any mass produce

:14:25. > :14:28.market. It is nice but an American company has come all the way to

:14:29. > :14:35.England to find us and use as and procure what they want through us.

:14:36. > :14:52.The lights are heading to Orlando, 270 of them. The theme park is home

:14:53. > :14:55.to the popular Harry Potter event. It has made a considerable increase

:14:56. > :15:02.to the company. I have worked in many situations and the art of hand

:15:03. > :15:07.making things is dying off, so to be able to work in an industry that I

:15:08. > :15:11.trained in for most of my life for large customers doing large projects

:15:12. > :15:17.means that we continue on that tradition of handmade culture. A

:15:18. > :15:22.team of 12 is finishing, preparing and polishing the final few. It has

:15:23. > :15:34.to be sent by the end of the month, ready for next year.

:15:35. > :15:38.In the last hour, we have been hearing that Guy Whittingham has

:15:39. > :15:42.been sacked. Is this a surprise? I think these things are always a

:15:43. > :15:47.little bit surprising and it comes down to timing.

:15:48. > :15:54.People will always bring out the word panic. A few weeks ago the mood

:15:55. > :15:58.was that things were OK. Suddenly we get this news in the last hour or so

:15:59. > :16:03.that he is gone. Do they have anybody in their sites?

:16:04. > :16:08.They would not do it without, which they?

:16:09. > :16:12.No, you would sense that somebody will be employed fairly soon. I

:16:13. > :16:18.understand Guy Whittingham was left stunned by the decision to sack him.

:16:19. > :16:23.He took training today. These are library pictures. It is known that

:16:24. > :16:27.some boardroom figures had expressed disappointment at recent results in

:16:28. > :16:32.all competitions. They had lost their last four games. He did his

:16:33. > :16:35.regular pre`match press conference ahead of tomorrow night's game and

:16:36. > :16:44.he was called to a meeting where he was informed he was being sacked.

:16:45. > :16:50.They have placed someone in charge for tomorrow night's game.

:16:51. > :16:54.Portsmouth have expressed gratitude for his service which included

:16:55. > :17:00.stealing them through last season's Administration `` steering. Guy

:17:01. > :17:06.Whittingham no longer the Portsmouth manager. We will wait to see who

:17:07. > :17:09.they could bring in. From Portsmouth to Southampton, and their manager

:17:10. > :17:19.refused to place the blame on his goalkeeper after his mistake gifted

:17:20. > :17:22.Arsenal a call on Saturday. Here he was trying to do his

:17:23. > :17:36.skills, he turns left, he turns right, he has not had a great month.

:17:37. > :17:44.A real mess. That put Southampton 1`0 down. He has not had a great

:17:45. > :17:48.time. This was at Stoke. Right after kick`off, he was beaten by the

:17:49. > :17:57.bouncing ball. This was in earlier this month. Let us not forget that

:17:58. > :18:04.it balances out. He has made some fantastic saves this reason. He does

:18:05. > :18:10.retain the face of a lot of the fans full is that is the second goal

:18:11. > :18:31.Arsenal scored to make it 2`0. Southampton

:18:32. > :18:35.The Aussies crossly Sean Rigg at times he took to double the lead,

:18:36. > :18:40.and the man from down under went up and over the keeper to wrap`up the

:18:41. > :18:44.game with number three. In league one, Swindon have slipped out of the

:18:45. > :18:50.play`off places despite a promising start against Leyton Orient. Josie

:18:51. > :18:55.gave an early lead, but David Mooney locks home for the equaliser.

:18:56. > :19:07.Audience's Moses on appeal showed he had no problem parting the red line.

:19:08. > :19:12.Swindon finished with ten men. It was also a bad day for MK dons.

:19:13. > :19:20.Bradford gained the lead, before Patrick Bamford restored things. A

:19:21. > :19:24.penalty from MK's Shaun Williams raised the home side's hopes, but it

:19:25. > :19:31.was Bamford who finish things. only lasted about four minutes. The

:19:32. > :19:37.winner came 20 minutes from the end. Portsmouth are 18th in the table.

:19:38. > :19:40.Guy Whittingham sacked by Portsmouth in the last hour.

:19:41. > :19:43.In rugby's Premiership, London Irish were beaten by Leicester. The exiles

:19:44. > :19:46.lost to two penalty tries at Welford Road. Australian James O'Connor

:19:47. > :19:50.kicked two penalties on the day and Irish went over through Mulchrone

:19:51. > :19:58.but it was in vain and Irish remain one off the bottom of the table.

:19:59. > :20:04.Bracknell handed Gilford a surprise defeat in the ice hockey Premier

:20:05. > :20:07.League. It was the second consecutive home shutout. 6`0. A

:20:08. > :20:11.dominant display. Southampton held its first junior

:20:12. > :20:14.fun run this weekend after the city was chosen as a venue for one of

:20:15. > :20:18.only six national free weekly runs for children. Around 70 youngsters,

:20:19. > :20:21.some just four years old, turned out to run the two kilometre timed event

:20:22. > :20:24.at Riverside Park. The junior series comes after a successful adult

:20:25. > :20:36.series, run every week in locations across the UK and worldwide.

:20:37. > :20:43.Three fun for kids, what could be more infighting? This is aimed at

:20:44. > :20:46.children between four and 14 and is a two column at timed run around

:20:47. > :20:53.Riverside Park in Southampton. We are one of the first open this

:20:54. > :20:57.weekend. We are really proud to have been chosen. The idea is to bring as

:20:58. > :21:01.many children into running and enjoying themselves on a Sunday

:21:02. > :21:05.morning. There are now six junior park runs that enable people to

:21:06. > :21:09.exercise in a safe and controlled environment. This is about the

:21:10. > :21:13.children's future and to be able to inspire children to take up exercise

:21:14. > :21:19.especially with the reports of obesity nowadays. It is run entirely

:21:20. > :21:24.by volunteers and will take place every week, whatever the weather.

:21:25. > :21:37.Quite tiring, but quite fun. You can keep fit. We do not like running.

:21:38. > :21:51.Too fast. I run faster than William. Who wants to do it next week? Me is

:21:52. > :21:56.the mission . Tomorrow night we'll be meeting

:21:57. > :22:00.Olympic snowboarder Billy Morgan. I caught up with the Southampton

:22:01. > :22:04.athlete as he recovers from injury ahead of what will be a big winter

:22:05. > :22:08.for him with the X`Games and then the Olympics. We'll also show you

:22:09. > :22:22.the incredible trick which has stunned the snowboarding world.

:22:23. > :22:25.Now, the milkman. The man who delivers milk to your door every

:22:26. > :22:28.day, whatever the weather, is becoming an endangered species these

:22:29. > :22:31.days. The advent of convenience stores and supermarkets mean milk is

:22:32. > :22:35.easily available almost 24/7, so for a milkman to flourish the service

:22:36. > :22:38.has to be pretty special. So how special does that make Kevin Dyer

:22:39. > :22:48.from Farnborough in Hampshire, whose doorstep delivery has just earned

:22:49. > :22:55.him the title Milkman of the Year? As most of us turn in for the night,

:22:56. > :23:00.Kevin's day is about to begin. He prepares to head out on his milk

:23:01. > :23:03.round just after midnight. It is a job he has been doing for a quarter

:23:04. > :23:09.of a century. His career was very nearly cut short. I should have been

:23:10. > :23:19.off work for about a week or so for routine surgery and I contracted

:23:20. > :23:24.MRSA and subsequently I lost my hip and I had two years off work and I

:23:25. > :23:29.was told I would probably not be able to do the job again. It is now

:23:30. > :23:34.supplies his delivery round is number one because not only did he

:23:35. > :23:38.beat the medical odds, this month he was named Milkman of the Year.

:23:39. > :23:43.Veronica was one of more than 400 customers who put him up for the

:23:44. > :23:49.accolade. He is always ready to have a chat if you need to. He is always

:23:50. > :23:54.there for you. He is a super guy. This time of year, Kevin does not
