:00:00. > 3:59:59moment. They'll be live in Kiev assessing what chance today's deal
:00:00. > :00:13.has Good evening. A plastic surgery
:00:14. > :00:16.nurse has been handed a three`year caution after admitting making
:00:17. > :00:22.sexual comments towards a student he was working with at Stoke Mandeville
:00:23. > :00:25.Hospital. The Nursing and Midwifery Council decided his ability to
:00:26. > :00:29.practice had been impaired following what happened. Earlier, I spoke to
:00:30. > :00:36.our reporter, Stuart Tinworth, who's been following the case.
:00:37. > :00:39.The comments relate to when Perry John Boss worked as a nurse in the
:00:40. > :00:45.plastic surgery department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2010. He'd
:00:46. > :00:50.started mentoring student nurses in the late 80s. At an earlier hearing,
:00:51. > :01:00.he was facing six charges, two of which he admitted. One comment,
:01:01. > :01:03.which he admitted to making to one of the nurses under his supervision,
:01:04. > :01:11.we can't report due to its graphic nature. The hearing was told when
:01:12. > :01:14.the student reported it to her line manager, HE told her she shouldn't
:01:15. > :01:18.be offended because it was the sort of thing that would often be said to
:01:19. > :01:21.students. The Nursing and Midwifery Council accepted that there was a
:01:22. > :01:23.culture at Stoke Mandeville Hospital of inappropriate language, including
:01:24. > :01:31.sexual innuendo, swearing and name`calling. What has the hospital
:01:32. > :01:34.had to say? Well, Perry John Boss hasn't worked there since 2012. In a
:01:35. > :01:38.statement, Buckinghamshire NHS health care Trust has told us the
:01:39. > :01:40.Trust takes all allegations of this nature extremely seriously, adding
:01:41. > :01:43.it refers concerns to the Nursing Midwifery Council where appropriate
:01:44. > :01:52.and assists in any subsequent processes. He's been handed this
:01:53. > :01:59.three`year caution order which will be searchable on his record for that
:02:00. > :02:04.time. And is he still working now? He is, and his current employers
:02:05. > :02:07.have described him as exemplary. The panel on the hearing also
:02:08. > :02:10.acknowledged he had shown remorse for his actions, had apologised to
:02:11. > :02:20.the nurse and was unlikely to repeat his previous behaviour.
:02:21. > :02:23.A fatal crash on the A34 in Oxfordshire has been referred to the
:02:24. > :02:29.independent police watchdog after officers slowed traffic to remove a
:02:30. > :02:32.dead badger. Police were taking away the animal from the southbound
:02:33. > :02:38.carriageway near Marcham at around 3am, but as they did that, a lorry
:02:39. > :02:41.crashed with another vehicle. The driver was taken to the John
:02:42. > :02:45.Radcliffe Hospital but later died of his injuries. The road was closed
:02:46. > :02:48.for nine hours. A second man, charged over the
:02:49. > :02:52.murder of a teenager from Oxford, has appeared in court. 17`year`old
:02:53. > :02:57.Connor Tremble was stabbed at his home last Thursday and died in
:02:58. > :02:59.hospital at the weekend. Grant Clemens, from Moreton`in`Marsh, has
:03:00. > :03:04.been charged with helping an offender and is now being held in
:03:05. > :03:07.custody. A 20`year`old man from Banbury, accused of killing the
:03:08. > :03:11.teenager, is also being kept in custody.
:03:12. > :03:14.A charity which helps hundreds of carers across the region has been
:03:15. > :03:19.saved from closure following coverage here on our programme. The
:03:20. > :03:23.South and Vale Carers Centre was going to shut but another local
:03:24. > :03:28.charity saw our report at the end of last year and got in touch to help.
:03:29. > :03:38.Today was the start of their new partnership.
:03:39. > :03:44.For Melanie, the carers Centre has been a lifeline. She has two sons
:03:45. > :03:49.with autism. When her first application was rejected, they help
:03:50. > :03:56.to appeal successfully. They have provided respite breaks from and
:03:57. > :04:01.care cover for her sons. It's made a huge difference to my life, having
:04:02. > :04:09.that support, naming it has been there, knowing it is reliable
:04:10. > :04:13.because at the end of the day, most carers tend to prioritise their
:04:14. > :04:16.needs after the needs of the people they care for. Last year we reported
:04:17. > :04:22.that the carers Centre couldn't find the money to carry on. Another
:04:23. > :04:31.charity saw our coverage and got in touch to help. I picked up the piece
:04:32. > :04:35.that you did in November about the centre facing closure. I went back
:04:36. > :04:38.to our senior management team. We thought it would be a good idea to
:04:39. > :04:49.see if there was something we could do to help. They voted to work
:04:50. > :04:54.together. We always hoped a miracle would happen. The publicity was so
:04:55. > :05:00.good because it alerted other people around to the fact that we needed
:05:01. > :05:03.help to keep going. The new partnership should mean carers will
:05:04. > :05:08.continue to get much`needed support for many years to come.
:05:09. > :05:11.While many of us are still coping with flooding, water companies in
:05:12. > :05:15.our region are continuing to prepare for future drought. Thames Water is
:05:16. > :05:20.building a huge underground storage reservoir in Reading. A new
:05:21. > :05:24.reservoir in Oxfordshire is still on the cards despite plans for one near
:05:25. > :05:33.Abingdon being blocked by the government. We are looking at
:05:34. > :05:42.reducing our own leakage and working with customers to reduce demand.
:05:43. > :05:46.Also, a catchment transfer. The road by Sonning Bridge could be
:05:47. > :05:49.raised to try and stop problems caused by flooding. The commuter
:05:50. > :05:53.route across the River Thames has been shut for weeks. Heavy duty
:05:54. > :06:04.blocks have been put across the road because drivers have been ignoring
:06:05. > :06:12.the closure signs. It's been three weeks since Eoin Hartwright smashed
:06:13. > :06:15.the world record. The 17`year`old spent 43 days with his uncle and two
:06:16. > :06:19.team mates rowing the 3,000`mile journey. He's now back home in
:06:20. > :06:28.Didcot, helping to run the family farm, which wasn't easy at first. It
:06:29. > :06:33.does really affect your body. When I got back to England, I couldn't face
:06:34. > :06:56.stares. It was a nightmare. with areas where we have had late
:06:57. > :07:00.showers. Good catch one or two showers eastwards in the early
:07:01. > :07:06.hours. Temperatures of the`4 Celsius. Into Saturday, a fresh and
:07:07. > :07:12.bright start. Lovely sunny spells at times. Bright skies in a morning,
:07:13. > :07:16.but into the afternoon, more cloud arriving. The odd shower here or
:07:17. > :07:21.there. Temperatures of 10`11 Celsius. The breeze beginning to
:07:22. > :07:26.pick up through the day. That is ahead of the front heading our way
:07:27. > :07:31.on Sunday. You can expect a very breezy day on Sunday with gusts of
:07:32. > :07:31.60 mph along the coast, rain later. Now
:07:32. > :07:33.Outlook. Tom Shuffle knacker has the National forecast in a few seconds.
:07:34. > :07:42.Some rain around on Monday. If you remember, this time last
:07:43. > :07:48.week, we had some very vicious weather costing the country, the
:07:49. > :07:55.storm on Friday night. Much quieter this Friday night and a much quieter
:07:56. > :08:01.week. Come the weekend, the Atlantic is still a little fierce. We will
:08:02. > :08:02.have some wind and rain in the forecast, too, but not all of
