:00:12. > :00:15.Good evening. The recent flooding is thought to have cost small

:00:16. > :00:18.businesses more than ?800 mhllion. That's coming from new rese`rch

:00:19. > :00:27.which claims each business has lost, on average, ?1,500. Here's Charlotte

:00:28. > :00:32.Stacey. Julian has been running his business

:00:33. > :00:36.in Oxford for a decade. Thex had to shut for several days earlidr this

:00:37. > :00:40.year because the road they were on was flooded. When he claimed

:00:41. > :00:49.compensation he expected to get about ?2000. Instead, he got ?1 8.

:00:50. > :00:54.Because the small print was somewhere off in the ether, we were

:00:55. > :01:01.not aware that the policy h`d changed and so we ended up having to

:01:02. > :01:07.settle the claim, in my opinion unreasonably. E is not alond. Plenty

:01:08. > :01:12.of businesses are struggling with their insurance. It is complex,

:01:13. > :01:17.ensuring business. If you h`ve not got right, for the loss of trade,

:01:18. > :01:23.loss of business, loss of m`terials and equipment, stop, and of course

:01:24. > :01:26.things like data, then you can find yourself with problems. New figures

:01:27. > :01:30.show that for businesses in the south`east at risk of floodhng,

:01:31. > :01:33.nearly a quarter had fewer customers and a drop in demand for products.

:01:34. > :01:40.The cost of the recent floods has been more than ?5,000 to ne`rly 10%

:01:41. > :01:44.of those businesses, and 12$ did not have insurance which covered

:01:45. > :01:47.flooding because the price was too high. It is important that business

:01:48. > :01:52.understands what it is covered for. There is an onus on the instrance

:01:53. > :01:55.company to make sure that their customers understand what they are

:01:56. > :02:00.covered for and to make surd that terms and conditions are in plain

:02:01. > :02:04.English. Experts say the right insurance is critical for kdeping

:02:05. > :02:07.businesses going. Julian saxs he feels let down by his experhence but

:02:08. > :02:12.has found another insurer whth the cover he once. `` he wants.

:02:13. > :02:16.A former anti`fraud boss for Oxfam has admitted cheating the charity of

:02:17. > :02:18.nearly ?65,000. Edward McKenzie Green, from Chipping Norton in

:02:19. > :02:22.Oxfordshire, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey. Hiding his face as he

:02:23. > :02:28.left court, he admitted makhng payments from Oxfam to fake firms,

:02:29. > :02:36.between February and Decembdr 2 11. He'll be sentenced in May. The

:02:37. > :02:41.charity made this statement. For someone to commit fraud and use

:02:42. > :02:47.that money for their own gahn is clearly unacceptable. The actions of

:02:48. > :02:54.Edward McKenzie Green brought to light by Oxfam's robust measures and

:02:55. > :02:57.we make sure that money is not lost through the actions of rogud

:02:58. > :03:00.employees. We will work to try and recover the money taken.

:03:01. > :03:04.Five men have been sentenced to a total of more than 22 years in jail

:03:12. > :03:20.chase by police near the Grdat Western Hospital. Andrew Pl`nt has

:03:21. > :03:27.been at Swindon Crown Court. Deacon and Sons jewellers, just a

:03:37. > :03:42.take cover behind the countdr. One of them is dragged away and forced

:03:43. > :03:47.to open a safe containing dhamond rings downstairs. The men slash up

:03:48. > :03:52.the glass cabinets, scooping the jewellery inside into banks. Less

:03:53. > :03:57.than two minutes after it started, they are gone, leaving the women

:03:58. > :04:03.terrified inside. The gang of five had driven down from Coventry and

:04:04. > :04:09.waited outside for the shop to open. 33 rules Marcus: Was the first

:04:23. > :04:26.what they were doing and thdy had heard about the diamond rings on

:06:02. > :06:05.I fully sympathise with these people but unfortunately, we don't give

:06:06. > :06:10.compensation and we cannot pay compensation. Why not? We h`ve

:06:11. > :06:13.various rules that we have to work towards and unfortunately,

:06:14. > :06:16.compensation does not come hnto it. An Oxfordshire charity which
