:00:00. > :00:08.Good evening. interview with Paul Flowers,
:00:09. > :00:12.Good evening. 500 jobs are set to go at the Honda
:00:13. > :00:14.plant in Swindon, after the car`maker announced it's cutting
:00:15. > :00:19.production. The company blames poor car sales in
:00:20. > :00:23.Europe. Three shifts will bd reduced to two and one production lhne will
:00:24. > :00:26.close. Workers have told us they're surprised and angry at the news
:00:27. > :00:30.Will Glennon reports. As workers left their shifts at
:00:31. > :00:36.Honda today the mood was as grey as the skies. It will not be long
:00:37. > :00:42.before 500 of them do not h`ve jobs any more. I have got a young family
:00:43. > :00:48.and I don't know what to do. It is hard times for us and the company.
:00:49. > :00:52.Just got to go with it and see what happens, I suppose. It is a sad loss
:00:53. > :00:57.again but not the first timd it has happened. Basically just want to
:00:58. > :00:59.know what the people at the top are doing.
:01:00. > :01:02.The announcement has come as a surprise to everybody involved.
:01:03. > :01:05.There was a lot of anger and disbelief, based around the fact we
:01:06. > :01:08.had only just completed a rddundancy programme last year, and thd
:01:09. > :01:16.anticipation was things werd on the up, and there would be recrtitment
:01:17. > :01:20.and growth. The reason for the cuts is simple,
:01:21. > :01:26.Honda can make too many cars and not enough people in Europe are buying
:01:27. > :01:34.them. Between them the two car plants are capable of making 25 ,000
:01:35. > :01:38.vehicles per year. But Hond` isn't selling anywhere near that number,
:01:39. > :01:41.so it is going to stop prodtction in car plant two all together by
:01:42. > :01:44.October, and will then stand idle, possibly for years. Last ye`r Honda
:01:45. > :01:52.made 140,000 cars here, this year it's expecting to make 20,000 fewer.
:01:53. > :01:56.Although the UK has some signs of growth more recently, a number of
:01:57. > :01:59.major economies have shown the opposite trend, very weak growth,
:02:00. > :02:06.and that has impacted the ddmand for new vehicles. We are in a shtuation
:02:07. > :02:12.where our production and deland do not align and we have to take action
:02:13. > :02:15.to reduce production, unfortunately. There are still 3000 people
:02:16. > :02:19.employed, and Honda insists it is confident about the long`term future
:02:20. > :02:29.of the plant, if and when Etrope's economy starts to bloom agahn.
:02:30. > :02:33.It's become an online sensation millions of women posing in what's
:02:34. > :02:37.called a selfie, with no make up, to raise money for cancer rese`rch But
:02:38. > :02:41.now after being sexually assaulted and beaten up one student in Oxford
:02:42. > :02:45.has posted her own picture, showing horrific injuries. She's now raised
:02:46. > :02:50.more than ?10,000 for the chty's rape crisis centre. Stuart Tinworth
:02:51. > :02:53.has the story. A shocking picture that has already
:02:54. > :03:00.been shared thousands of tiles online. Oxford student Jeanne Ryan
:03:01. > :03:03.posted this self`shot photo. After refusing a sexual advance on a
:03:04. > :03:10.nightclub dance floor, she was then punched repeatedly in the f`ce.
:03:11. > :03:13.They were calculated blows so I think he is probably a really
:03:14. > :03:16.dangerous person, because hd aimed directly for my nose, which is
:03:17. > :03:24.broken, and my cheekbone and my eye around here. And I actually fell
:03:25. > :03:26.down, got back up and he kept hitting me.
:03:27. > :03:29.She was attacked at this nightclub on Friday night and the man`gement
:03:30. > :03:33.here have said they are all devastated by what they havd
:03:34. > :03:36.described as a revolting attack They are now helping the police
:03:37. > :03:41.track down the offender and they have stressed today they relain one
:03:42. > :03:43.of the safest venues in the city. But while police investigatd,
:03:44. > :03:51.Jeanne's own campaign has already raised thousands of pounds for the
:03:52. > :03:59.Oxford Rape Crisis Centre. I wanted to do something positive. I
:04:00. > :04:03.posted it and I was hoping something good would come of it but I wasn't
:04:04. > :04:07.expecting such a response. @fter he touched me, kept on telling me to
:04:08. > :04:10.smile, and now I am smiling because people have donated so generously.
:04:11. > :04:14.Unfortunately it is not an hsolated case, we see things like thhs
:04:15. > :04:18.regularly. It happens across the UK, 400,000 women will experience some
:04:19. > :04:22.form of sexual violence every year. Jeanne says she hopes her actions
:04:23. > :04:29.will now give others the strength to speak out.
:04:30. > :04:32.A man from Bampton has been given a nine`month suspended prison sentence
:04:33. > :04:36.after he deceived a woman ott of the life insurance she was awarded
:04:37. > :04:42.following the death of her son in Afghanistan. Jason Mackie dhed in
:04:43. > :04:45.2009. His mother Lee was later persuaded by Gary Sheehy to invest
:04:46. > :04:52.more than ?4,000 in a busindss he had no intention of starting. He
:04:53. > :04:57.will have to do 120 hours of unpaid work and pay Lee Mackie ?2,000 in
:04:58. > :05:01.compensation. A new study has suggested a bad diet
:05:02. > :05:03.during pregnancy may affect a child's chance of developing
:05:04. > :05:06.Alzheimer's disease later in life. The research has been discussed at a
:05:07. > :05:11.conference in Oxford. Scientists looked at pregnant mice who were
:05:12. > :05:14.given a high`fat diet. They found that blood vessels in both lother
:05:15. > :05:18.and baby were less efficient at clearing a protein linked to
:05:19. > :05:22.Alzheimer's disease. It is an age`related diseasd so we
:05:23. > :05:25.will have to wait to see how those adult children will respond, but it
:05:26. > :05:28.is definitely a promising, interesting field because it gives
:05:29. > :05:31.us another target if we can pre`empt it by asking or informing pregnant
:05:32. > :05:43.women, that might be another avenue for preventing it.
:05:44. > :05:48.A teenager has been hospitalised after cycling over a pothold at high
:05:49. > :05:52.speed near Cirencester. Ollhe Pike had been taking part in a cxcle race
:05:53. > :05:55.in Dagglingworth when he avoided one pothole, only to hit another. He
:05:56. > :06:04.suffered a broken collar bone, stitches to an eyebrow and lultiple
:06:05. > :06:08.scratches. His mum thinks the region's roads are unaccept`ble It
:06:09. > :06:12.is appalling. I do the school runs every day and I travel all the back
:06:13. > :06:16.lanes all the time, and I al constantly trying to avoid potholes
:06:17. > :06:20.and sometimes you can't, if there is an oncoming vehicle you havd got to
:06:21. > :06:24.go in them sometimes. The state of the roads is awful and I worry all
:06:25. > :06:27.the time. Gloucestershire County Council won't
:06:28. > :06:30.comment on individual cases, but says we do respond to reported
:06:31. > :06:33.potholes, the busiest roads are inspected at least every month and
:06:34. > :06:38.our priority is to fix unsafe potholes immediately.
:06:39. > :06:46.A couple of football results to bring you from League One tonight.
:06:47. > :06:49.The MK Dons were beaten 1`0 at home against ginning but there w`s a 2`1
:06:50. > :06:56.victory for Tranmere. That's it from us for now.
:06:57. > :07:02.The showers have eased but we are looking at clear skies, a touch of
:07:03. > :07:06.frost in the countryside, some mist and fog patches first thing
:07:07. > :07:11.tomorrow. With the increasing breeze tomorrow in mist and fog should
:07:12. > :07:17.disperse pretty swiftly. Sole sunny spells, shows popping up around
:07:18. > :07:27.midday onwards. Some sunshine to be had, the breeze coming in from the
:07:28. > :07:31.North and East. As we look `head towards the end of the weekdnd ``
:07:32. > :07:32.towards the weekend temperatures are on the up.
:07:33. > :07:40.10 degrees. The outlook, it stays chilly and temperatures look like
:07:41. > :07:43.they will pick up towards the eight -- weekend.
:07:44. > :07:44.In early spring, a bit of sunshine
