:00:09. > :00:13.Good evening. Detectives investigating convicted murderer

:00:14. > :00:17.Christopher Halliwell, from Swindon, say they're keeping an 'open mind'

:00:18. > :00:20.as to whether he has killed more women. It's after a pair of boots

:00:21. > :00:24.belonging to Sian O'Callaghan, who he stabbed to death three years ago,

:00:25. > :00:27.were found in an isolated spot in Wiltshire. The boots were in a pond

:00:28. > :00:37.almost 15 miles from where Sian's body was found, at Uffington in

:00:38. > :00:40.Oxfordshire. Andrew Plant reports. Pulled by divers from a murky pond,

:00:41. > :00:44.its watery hiding place, say police, for the past three years. They have

:00:45. > :00:47.been working here for 48 hours. These remote fields in Wiltshire

:00:48. > :00:52.finally yielding clues, they say, such a long time after Sian

:00:53. > :00:56.O'Callaghan was killed. It is part of my theory that she could have

:00:57. > :00:59.been brought here and murdered here. We're missing a lot of her property,

:01:00. > :01:02.her phone, handbag, her boots obviously, so I think this is a

:01:03. > :01:10.possibility. I have informed her family this morning. She disappeared

:01:11. > :01:16.after a night out with friends in 2011. Hundreds of volunteers scoured

:01:17. > :01:22.nearby woods for signs of her. Her body was found five days later. She

:01:23. > :01:31.had been brutally stabbed. The weapon and some of her possessions

:01:32. > :01:35.have never been found. What police and Sian's friends and family have

:01:36. > :01:38.never known is what happened to her between the night she disappeared on

:01:39. > :01:45.the day she was found. Local taxi driver Christopher Halliwell is now

:01:46. > :01:49.in prison for her murder. But when he was arrested, he led the police

:01:50. > :01:52.to a second body. Betty Godden had vanished years before, but police

:01:53. > :01:59.broke the rules of arrest that day and he has never stood trial over

:02:00. > :02:03.her murder. `` Becky. Police now say they hope this Wiltshire pond will

:02:04. > :02:04.reveal more clues that could help their disappearance into Becky's

:02:05. > :02:15.disappearance and murder. A woman's been seriously hurt after

:02:16. > :02:18.being hit by a fire engine answering an emergency call in Oxford. The

:02:19. > :02:22.accident happened this afternoon on the Cowley Road, which was closed

:02:23. > :02:27.for around two hours. An investigation is being carried out

:02:28. > :02:30.into what happened. It's thought a fire in a child's

:02:31. > :02:33.bedroom in Oxford was started deliberately. Police are treating

:02:34. > :02:37.the fire in Rose Hill as an arson attack but no arrests have been

:02:38. > :02:41.made. The family of seven escaped with minor injuries.

:02:42. > :02:46.Hundreds of social workers from around the country have been in

:02:47. > :02:49.Oxford learning how they can improve the way they deal with child sexual

:02:50. > :02:52.exploitation cases. Staff from Oxfordshire County Council have been

:02:53. > :02:55.sharing what they've learned as a result of Operation Bullfinch, the

:02:56. > :02:58.18`week trial that found seven men guilty of grooming young girls for

:02:59. > :03:01.sex. If it looks dramatic and

:03:02. > :03:04.hard`hitting, that's because the actors say the subject warrants it.

:03:05. > :03:07.As part of a conference, they've been invited by Oxfordshire County

:03:08. > :03:10.Council to perform a story of child sexual exploitation, the likes of

:03:11. > :03:16.which were discovered in Oxford by Operation Bullfinch. This 300 or so

:03:17. > :03:29.people behind me a remix of police officers, social workers and charity

:03:30. > :03:32.staff. `` are a mix. They have come to learn the lessons that

:03:33. > :03:35.authorities say they learned that sex scandals aged between 11 and 15

:03:36. > :03:40.had been raped and trafficked in Oxford two years ago. Since then,

:03:41. > :03:43.it's claimed much has changed. For starters, ?31.5 million is being

:03:44. > :03:53.spent employing an extra 21 social workers. `` ?1.5 million. The

:03:54. > :03:56.authorities say witness protection schemes are better and police and

:03:57. > :04:04.carers are working more closely together. I think we understanding

:04:05. > :04:07.organised criminal exploitation. We also try to spot early signs so we

:04:08. > :04:14.can treat them much more effectively. The irony may not be

:04:15. > :04:17.lost on all that the same council department which only a few years

:04:18. > :04:20.ago failed to protect six girls from sexual crimes now finds itself

:04:21. > :04:28.offering up advice to others on how to avoid it happening. The sexual

:04:29. > :04:32.crimes committed in Oxford may have happened a couple of years ago, but

:04:33. > :04:35.it seems experts from across the country are still keen to know how

:04:36. > :04:40.to avoid the same happening in their area.

:04:41. > :04:44.Drivers using the A338 through Grove won't face as much disruption as

:04:45. > :04:47.previously thought when electrification works starts on the

:04:48. > :04:51.Great Western line. It was thought the work would result in an 18`mile

:04:52. > :04:54.diversion being put in place for six months. But, because of opposition

:04:55. > :04:58.from local people, new plans have been made. It means the road will

:04:59. > :04:59.now only close for a short period of time while the Station Road bridge

:05:00. > :05:07.is replaced. Planning permission has been granted

:05:08. > :05:09.for two wind turbines to be built in the Oxfordshire village of

:05:10. > :05:12.Adderbury. Each turbine will generate enough electricity for

:05:13. > :05:15.around 125 houses. The British Horse Society had objected to the plans,

:05:16. > :05:26.saying they were concerned the turbines may scare nearby horses.

:05:27. > :05:31.Work has begun on the second phase of a project to create a huge

:05:32. > :05:35.wetland in Wallingford. The River of Life project is costing ?1 million

:05:36. > :05:38.and will stretch for a mile and a half along the Thames. It should

:05:39. > :05:41.provide new habitats for threatened wildlife. Sinead Carroll reports.

:05:42. > :05:44.Planting for the future and restoring the past. This is phase

:05:45. > :05:48.two of a ?32 million project creating a wetland along a mile and

:05:49. > :05:53.a half of the River Thames near Wallingford. `` ?1 million. What

:05:54. > :05:55.we're stood in front of is one of five backwaters to create features

:05:56. > :06:00.that mimic historic backwater channels you would have had when the

:06:01. > :06:03.Thames was a much more active river. It's hoped these backwaters will

:06:04. > :06:19.improve river quality and support threatened wildlife. Water comes

:06:20. > :06:22.through your tap, but look where it really comes from, and look at the

:06:23. > :06:26.natural ecosystems that help filter it, make it clean and help get it to

:06:27. > :06:29.your tap. The final phase of this River of Life project is the

:06:30. > :06:34.planting of a wild flower meadow next year. The Earth Trust say that

:06:35. > :06:37.certainly isn't the end of the journey though. They hope this

:06:38. > :06:38.wetland will have an impact on education, research, wildlife and

:06:39. > :06:53.even farming for years to come. That's all from us. Now Alexis has

:06:54. > :07:01.the weekend weather. Good night. What a fantastic day we had. Hazy

:07:02. > :07:06.packed she missed is a possibility with fairly mild temperatures

:07:07. > :07:13.between 13 or 14 Celsius, stepping down to seven or eight and this ``

:07:14. > :07:21.in the countryside. Sunny spells will develop tomorrow with varying

:07:22. > :07:25.amounts of cloud, but a pleasant temperature of up to 22 Celsius.

:07:26. > :07:32.There is the chance of a stray shower in some places, but it stays

:07:33. > :07:33.settled through Sunday. Cody start each day over the weekend.

:07:34. > :07:42.far do you have to go to get proper rain? Thomas has the answer.

:07:43. > :07:46.For days now, we have been advertising some warm weather for

:07:47. > :07:51.the weekend and the forecast remains unchanged. In fact, hot sunshine on

:07:52. > :07:55.the way for many of us and talking about that, I would like to warn you

:07:56. > :08:02.how strong the Sunnis this time of year. In spring, we tend to flock to

:08:03. > :08:07.the sun and burn very easily. It is just as wrong as it is in July. Onto

:08:08. > :08:12.the forecast and for tonight, quiet weather across most parts of the

:08:13. > :08:17.country. Just the few spots of rain in the far north of the UK. A strong

:08:18. > :08:18.breeze as well. But other than that, a benign
