:00:54. > :00:58.police said the mild had bedn subjected to a vicious stabbing

:00:59. > :01:04.attack. It was an horrendous scene. The victim stood no chance, it was a

:01:05. > :01:10.multiple attack, a really dhfficult investigation. I am really `ppealing

:01:11. > :01:16.for the public's help in telling us what has happened, what havd you

:01:17. > :01:21.heard and seen? They said the murder happened sometime after 10:30 last

:01:22. > :01:25.night and at the mild, in hhs 6 s, was cycling home. His bicycle was

:01:26. > :01:29.found nearby. They think thd attacker was unknown to the victim,

:01:30. > :01:34.a stranger, and they hope the public can help to find the culprit. I

:01:35. > :01:41.imagine if you know the person, their behaviour will have changed,

:01:42. > :01:47.they are conscious that we `re trying to find them. They whll

:01:48. > :01:52.possibly be trying to changd their behaviour. There will be extra

:02:11. > :02:14.It happened at Banbury's reservoir last year

:02:15. > :02:18.when the 69`year`old victim was punched, knocked down an embankment

:02:19. > :02:42.It takes just a few steps to get from this land

:02:43. > :02:46.south of Grenoble Road right up to the edge of Oxford city.

:02:47. > :02:53.But does that make it a vit`l green barrier or an ideal place to build?

:02:54. > :02:57.For several years, Oxford City Council has thotght it

:02:58. > :03:00.is the latter. Highly sustainable in terms of

:03:01. > :03:03.transport links into the city and it is part of an established community

:03:04. > :03:07.with high level leisure fachlities and commercial facilities and it

:03:08. > :03:11.makes it very easy to develop a community there which will be

:03:12. > :03:14.well`balanced and part of the city. The City Council owns some

:03:15. > :03:17.of the land as does Magdalen College and Thames Water.

:03:18. > :03:19.The last attempt to get it darmarked for development was overturned

:03:20. > :03:25.by the government and that is not the only obstacle.

:03:26. > :03:28.The field may be a stone's throw from Blackbird Leys but thex are

:03:29. > :03:31.technically in South Oxfordshire. Its District Council says

:03:32. > :03:36.that must be remembered. Historically it has not

:03:37. > :03:42.wanted homes here. Countryside campaigners

:03:43. > :03:46.are opposed to it too. We have seen real terms in the open

:03:47. > :03:50.countryside on the doorsteps of the people who live therd.

:03:51. > :03:53.Clearly if we covered it with houses, it would have lost

:03:54. > :04:00.its environmental value as well as its value as a green belt.

:04:01. > :04:03.The City Council will decidd next week if it will start formal talks

:04:04. > :04:07.with other landowners about developing here.

:04:08. > :04:11.It thinks a recent study suggesting Oxfordshire needs another 100,0 0

:04:12. > :04:13.homes by 2031 will mean somd bits of the green belt will have to be

:04:14. > :04:19.surrendered to housing. Npower has announced

:04:20. > :04:22.the operation to demolish the cooling towers at the Didcot power

:04:23. > :04:26.plant will take place betwedn 3 00 and 5:00am

:04:27. > :04:30.on Sunday the 27th of July. The controlled explosion will bring

:04:31. > :04:33.the southern towers down The firm says

:04:34. > :04:37.the exact time will be determined by a number of factors including safety

:04:38. > :04:40.checks, the weather and advhce South Oxfordshire District council

:04:41. > :04:46.says its disappointed at thd timings We've all taken a wrong turn

:04:47. > :04:53.at some point, but a driver He's managed to get

:04:54. > :04:58.his lorry stuck under the r`ilway The incident has caused traffic

:04:59. > :05:04.problems for hundreds of drhvers A recovery operation's been

:05:05. > :05:09.underway this afternoon. The importance

:05:10. > :05:11.of a healthy lifestyle in old age was the subject of

:05:12. > :05:15.a special event in Buckingh`mshire. Guests were invited to a zulba

:05:16. > :05:18.class and other exercise sessions. There was also a series

:05:19. > :05:21.of lectures about how to live The conference was organised

:05:22. > :05:25.by a number of groups including the county council and

:05:26. > :05:29.the hosts, Bucks New University Pupils

:05:30. > :05:31.in Oxfordshire have been taking part in a sumo wrestling event whth

:05:32. > :05:34.a difference this afternoon ` The Robot Sumo Competition was

:05:35. > :05:40.hosted at Brookes Universitx after its scientists worked with

:05:41. > :05:44.nearby school children, helping them gain a better understanding

:05:45. > :05:47.of computer technology. The challenge given to

:05:48. > :05:51.the young programmers was to design a machine that would push

:05:52. > :05:54.its robotic opponent out of a circle without being dhrectly

:05:55. > :05:58.controlled by its creator, but one of those behind the project says

:05:59. > :06:04.its more than just a bit of fun The job market

:06:05. > :06:07.in robotics is going to rocket. The prices of robots are coling

:06:08. > :06:10.down, the prices of components of robot coming down.

:06:11. > :06:13.They are becoming household items and so there is a real markdt

:06:14. > :06:16.opening up which will lead to many, many jobs in this area.

:06:17. > :06:20.It is sort of deadly, it doesn't really destroy it,

:06:21. > :06:23.it just pushes it. Our robot is a sumo robot

:06:24. > :06:28.and it is meant to push another robot out of the ring.

:06:29. > :06:30.I wouldn't call it deadly, it wasn't exactly very good,

:06:31. > :06:37.but at least we tried. We're back in BBC Breakfast tomorrow

:06:38. > :06:43.morning, but for now goodnight We have just one or two showers

:06:44. > :06:53.easing away through the course Seeing some patchy mist herd

:06:54. > :07:00.and there. It is quite

:07:01. > :07:03.a mild night with temperatures Just the odd shower

:07:04. > :07:07.around through into A misty start perhaps

:07:08. > :07:12.but some brightness at times. Through the afternoon, we do start

:07:13. > :07:16.to see though showers buildhng up It looks like we could see tp

:07:17. > :07:21.to 40 millimetres of rainfall. There is a weather warning

:07:22. > :07:36.for that through Saturday btt Sunday temperature again 20. Fewer showers.

:07:37. > :07:40.Most out towards the east. That's the way it is looking.

:07:41. > :07:48.Good evening. For some the weather put on a show today - lightning and

:07:49. > :07:53.hail. For others more of a no-show. Showers at Wimbledon stayed away.

:07:54. > :07:59.They were further west. Torrential downpours with the lightning flashes

:08:00. > :08:04.over East Anglia. Local flooding in for folk. Showers through

:08:05. > :08:07.Glastonbury. Thunder storms over Mid Wales

:08:08. > :08:08.currently. Flashes of
