:01:42. > :01:46.sure much emotion. He left the court quite quickly. The jury took 20

:01:47. > :01:50.hours to reach their decision. Police have said this is ond of the

:01:51. > :01:57.most unique cases they have ever worked on. The idea of a murderer

:01:58. > :02:00.hiding a body in an existing grave is new. They said they were pleased

:02:01. > :02:04.with the verdict. I welcome the verdict that

:02:05. > :02:06.Ben Blakeley is guilty of mtrder, That is the start

:02:07. > :02:11.of some closure for them. You will understand that

:02:12. > :02:14.the jury is still deliberathng on another defendant, so I am not able

:02:15. > :02:17.to say anything else at this stage because I do not want to jeopardise

:02:18. > :02:30.the remainder of the trial. The verdict has come as a rdlief to

:02:31. > :02:37.the family and friends, who had been coming to court every day. One of

:02:46. > :02:48.In the back of my mind, I always thought he could bd capable

:02:49. > :02:52.Sometimes I thought he could be a violent boyfriend.

:02:53. > :02:54.Someone like Jayden ` she was lovely.

:02:55. > :02:57.Being hit, no man should ever hit a wolan,

:02:58. > :03:03.Victoria, Ben and Jayden had known each other for some

:03:04. > :03:16.That is right. This story start around two years ago.

:03:17. > :03:20.They had known each other for years, but, in the summer of 2012,

:03:21. > :03:23.Jayden Parkinson started dating Ben Blakeley.

:03:24. > :03:26.Problems at home meant she had to move out.

:03:27. > :03:29.Jayden and Ben were "partners in crime".

:03:30. > :03:36.And to solve their problems, they began trying for a babx `

:03:37. > :03:40.hoping that would mean they would get a council flat.

:03:41. > :03:43.Over the course of the next year, with no baby appearing and loney

:03:44. > :03:48.tight, Jayden moved into thhs hostel in Oxford called One Foot Forward.

:03:49. > :03:51.But it was at this point, when they were more often apart

:03:52. > :03:55.that Ben's controlling and jealous nature got much worse.

:03:56. > :03:57.He ordered Jayden to stay hdre in her room alone,

:03:58. > :04:02.telling her that she must not even leave to use the bathroom.

:04:03. > :04:05.Two weeks later, Jayden ended the relationshhp.

:04:06. > :04:12.So angry he threatened to ptt naked pictures of her on Facebook.

:04:13. > :04:17.He said he hoped she would commit suicide.

:04:18. > :04:20.At the beginning of December, staff at the hostel helped Jayden

:04:21. > :04:30.Her care worker calculated that the father had to be Ben Bl`keley.

:04:31. > :04:37.When Jayden called him to break the news, he accused her of cheating

:04:38. > :04:40.` swearing and threatening to push her off a bridge.

:04:41. > :04:44.Despite that threat, and not even 24 hours later, Jayden left thd hostel

:04:45. > :04:49.alone to meet Ben Blakeley and to discuss the pregnancx.

:04:50. > :04:53.These are the last known im`ges of Jayden alive.

:04:54. > :04:57.They show their journey frol Oxford train station to Didcot.

:04:58. > :05:01.They walked from there to an area of fields near Upton.

:05:02. > :05:05.They had reached this footbridge when Ben Blakeley asked Jayden

:05:06. > :05:13.He said her reaction was enough to convince him.

:05:14. > :05:15.He then described grabbing her round the throat with both hands,

:05:16. > :05:19.before she fell from here into the mud below.

:05:20. > :05:22.He said she wasn't breathing, but he tried to revive her.

:05:23. > :05:31.He then described sitting hdre for some time,

:05:32. > :05:34.watching the stars go by, bdfore covering Jayden's body with a branch

:05:35. > :05:39.In the days that followed, and while family and friends were

:05:40. > :05:41.waiting for news, Ben Blakeley returned to move Jayden's body.

:05:42. > :05:50.He then asked his 17`year`old brother, Jake,

:05:51. > :06:00.to help him dig into their tncle's grave at All Saints Churchy`rd.

:06:01. > :06:03.Ben put her in the grave and together the brothers tried to

:06:04. > :06:07.By the 12th of December, there was still no sign of Jayden.

:06:08. > :06:09.This is a live missing person's enqtiry

:06:10. > :06:12.We do not know where Jayden is at the moment.

:06:13. > :06:15.It was now, nine days after she had disappeared, that police declared

:06:16. > :06:21.More than 100 officers began an intensive search.

:06:22. > :06:25.Two days later, CCTV footagd proved that Ben Blakeley had lied

:06:26. > :06:29.about his own whereabouts on the night Jayden went missing.

:06:30. > :06:32.They were now convinced she was dead and Ben Blakeley w`s

:06:33. > :06:39.The discovery of Jayden's body at All Saints Church

:06:40. > :06:42.in Didcot just before Christmas came as a shock to those living nearby

:06:43. > :06:47.For the vicar of the church, it was an incredibly difficult time.

:06:48. > :06:50.The Reverend Karen Beck has been telling us about how Jayden's murder

:06:51. > :06:57.affected her, the church, and the community nearby.

:06:58. > :07:04.In a sense, that is what ministry is about.

:07:05. > :07:10.Sometimes it is really joyftl and sometimes it is very tr`gic

:07:11. > :07:13.That is what happened, I got caught up in a terrible

:07:14. > :07:18.It is hard, because you're having to walk with them through what is

:07:19. > :07:26.Continue to bless, oh Lord, this churchyard hallowed in your name.

:07:27. > :07:29.I was struck at how many people were really upset

:07:30. > :07:39.by what had happened and th`t sense of something having been violated.

:07:40. > :07:42.Someone did use that word about how they felt that someone had disrupted

:07:43. > :07:49.One or two people said they could not come back into the churchyard.

:07:50. > :07:54.It was awful, because it disturbed someone else's gr`ve.

:07:55. > :07:56.It did not actually disturb other people's graves,

:07:57. > :07:59.but it upset a lot of peopld that it took place in the churchyard.

:08:00. > :08:02.But at the same time, there was something about hdr being

:08:03. > :08:08.There was a safety about th`t, almost.

:08:09. > :08:22.There was a real conflict of feelings around that.

:08:23. > :08:23.Certainly, it has affected All Saints Church.

:08:24. > :08:26.We have reflected a lot on what has gone on and

:08:27. > :08:33.We are reflecting on how we can change as a church,

:08:34. > :08:36.but I think it has also imp`cted on the wider community.

:08:37. > :08:41.There was a real sense of shock that something like that could h`ppen

:08:42. > :08:44.and I think you do reflect on what you are as a communhty

:08:45. > :08:49.Hopefully something positivd will come out of this.

:08:50. > :08:52.I know that is what the family would like as well.

:08:53. > :08:58.The vicar of All Saints Church, Karen Beck.

:08:59. > :09:02.Well, let's return to Victoria at Oxford Crown Court.

:09:03. > :09:05.Victoria, the trial may be coming to an end, but there are more puestions

:09:06. > :09:09.in the Jayden Parkinson enqtiry aren't there ?

:09:10. > :09:18.Ben Blakeley's younger brother is still on trial here. The judge has

:09:19. > :09:24.asked the jury to come back tomorrow at 10am. He will take a majority

:09:25. > :09:39.verdict. Ben Blakeley will be sentenced at a later date. The

:09:40. > :09:46.family of the boy who died when he got into trouble in the rivdr have

:09:47. > :09:49.given a statement. It is hoped that his legacy will live on.

:09:50. > :09:52.Next tonight, it is being c`lled a master plan for Oxford.

:09:53. > :09:54.Today, plans to spend ?75 million revamping the railw`y

:09:55. > :09:57.They include new buildings, new track, and better transport

:09:58. > :10:01.Those behind the project sax the major work will help de`l with

:10:02. > :10:05.the huge rise in passenger numbers predicted over the next dec`de.

:10:06. > :10:08.The scheme has been years in the making, as Tom Turrell reports.

:10:09. > :10:10.Around 7 million people get on and off trains

:10:11. > :10:14.Once they step off the carrhage this is the first they see

:10:15. > :10:30.It doesn't reflect the placd very well. It needs more seats and air

:10:31. > :10:33.conditioning. This is nothing special. It could be anywhere.

:10:34. > :10:35.Today, plans have been annotnced to demolish the station

:10:36. > :10:38.and build a new bigger, better, bolder one costing somewherd

:10:39. > :10:43.It could see Botley Bridge widened to allow for cycle paths.

:10:44. > :10:45.The station might be two stories high, with glass walls allowing

:10:46. > :10:55.A new bus station too, as wdll as shops, restaurants,

:10:56. > :11:15.One of the reasons being given for demolishing this station is that it

:11:16. > :11:21.is important people get the right first impression. We are a booming

:11:22. > :11:27.economy and the station is not adequate. We have growth in both the

:11:28. > :11:30.north and the side of the chty. The city is growing very fast.

:11:31. > :11:32.There is though only one very small problem:

:11:33. > :11:34.nobody, not government nor train opdrator,

:11:35. > :11:38.has so far said they will stump up even a penny to pay for all this.

:11:39. > :11:40.But First Great Western, who currently run the station, say

:11:41. > :11:53.We pick many trains through two platforms. It gets too crowded. We

:11:54. > :11:58.need to exploit the air above the station as much as we can to build a

:11:59. > :12:00.station that is fit for the 21st`century.

:12:01. > :12:03.These are the early days, but I'm told if the plans stay on

:12:04. > :12:07.track passengers could be using a new station in just six years time.

:12:08. > :12:10.Around 60 jobs have gone in Oxfordshire, because Bicestdr`based

:12:11. > :12:13.car`part supplier Unipart h`s gone into administration.

:12:14. > :12:16.Unipart Automotive's branchds in Oxford, Bicester, and Swindon have

:12:17. > :12:20.More than 1,000 jobs have bden lost across the country.

:12:21. > :12:26.A buyer has been found for 33 of the firm's 180 sites.

:12:27. > :12:29.A 21`year`old man has been jailed for three years after being

:12:30. > :12:33.caught with a stun gun, which had been disguised as an iPhone.

:12:34. > :12:35.Police arrested Marcel Cross with the device in Bicester back

:12:36. > :12:40.He has been found guilty of carrying a Section 5 firdarm

:12:41. > :12:45.Police said the sentence reflected the seriousness of Cross's `ctions.

:12:46. > :12:47.At least 30 applications to build solar farms have been made hn

:12:48. > :12:54.The County Council has delaxed a decision on whether or not it

:12:55. > :12:57.will back all future bids ` as long as they don't harm the environment

:12:58. > :13:05.Countryside campaigners are pleased no decision has yet been made.

:13:06. > :13:08.National planning policy makes it really clear that renewable energy

:13:09. > :13:12.is really only acceptable in Green Belt in exceptional circumstances.

:13:13. > :13:14.So, we were really surprised that this draft position statement

:13:15. > :13:18.contains no mention whatsoever of the Oxford Green Belt.

:13:19. > :13:21.There is only a few days to go until three of Didcot's iconic

:13:22. > :13:24.cooling towers are demolishdd ` changing the skyline that c`n be

:13:25. > :13:28.The demolition takes place this Sunday in the early hours

:13:29. > :13:38.For some, the site has been an eyesore, while others sax they

:13:39. > :13:42.Peter Cooke looks back at some of the key moments

:13:49. > :13:56.Its centre piece ` three in`nimate objects with as many memorids as

:13:57. > :14:02.After 43 years service, the coal`fuelled Didcot A Station

:14:03. > :14:05.was switched off last year ` and this Sunday, in moonlight shadow,

:14:06. > :14:11.But it has seen its share of controversy.

:14:12. > :14:13.In 1984, the Miners' Strike saw pickdt lines

:14:14. > :14:18.And in 2006, 25 Greenpeace campaigners staged

:14:19. > :14:24.It was also once voted Brit`in's third worst eyesore.

:14:25. > :14:35.For those who worked there dach has their own individual story.

:14:36. > :14:45.Coming back from Devon or corn well towards the station. The kids used

:14:46. > :14:52.to look towards the towers `nd say, look bad, there is your work. It was

:14:53. > :14:55.a landmark and I will always remember what the children said when

:14:56. > :14:59.we were travelling back frol holiday.

:15:00. > :15:01.And for Bernard Varney, a station lifer, there 39 ydars

:15:02. > :15:17.I will feel lost. When they drop all of them, the building that hs, that

:15:18. > :15:21.will be heartbreaking. And, you can join the debatd on the

:15:22. > :15:24.Didcot cooling towers by clhcking Tomorrow, we will be bringing

:15:25. > :15:28.you more details on where you can Radio Oxford will be broadc`sting

:15:29. > :15:34.live from 3am on Sunday morning You will also be able to sed all

:15:35. > :15:37.the highlights on Sunday's ddition There for more than 40 years

:15:38. > :15:43.and they will be gone Now, more of today's

:15:44. > :15:59.stories with Sally Taylor. Nelson and Morgana are enjoxing

:16:00. > :16:01.their popularity for now but if the breeding programme is successful,

:16:02. > :16:09.they might not be such a rare sighting for much longer.

:16:10. > :16:17.In Bournemouth today hundreds of school pupils took part in the

:16:18. > :16:22.Children's Festival revived. The last one was a hundred years ago but

:16:23. > :16:26.it was stopped by the outbrdak of World War I. The mayor led the

:16:27. > :16:28.procession in a horse`drawn carriage as the children marched to the beat

:16:29. > :16:41.of the band. New life has been breathed hnto an

:16:42. > :16:47.old tradition. It has been 000 years since the last Children's Fdstival

:16:48. > :16:52.in Bournemouth. Bournemouth is only 200 years old. Back then, schools

:16:53. > :16:57.were privately funded but they couldn't keep them running. They

:16:58. > :17:02.came running `` knocking on the council for. The council sahd they

:17:03. > :17:06.would fund them and celebrate it with a children's day. 8000 children

:17:07. > :17:12.marched through the town. It was huge. White 1904 but stopped in 1914

:17:13. > :17:21.when the war broke out. It was gotten until today. We get to meet

:17:22. > :17:25.the Mayor and March. It happened so will only go so to honour those

:17:26. > :17:30.children is really good. Evdryone walked from Bournemouth Pier to the

:17:31. > :17:43.town square and ended up in the park. A happy day of celebr`tions

:17:44. > :17:48.and reflection. The wall and the terrible Second World War... They

:17:49. > :17:53.will never forget. To commelorate, each child was given a peacd medal

:17:54. > :18:00.from World War I to celebrate the end of the war. I am proud to be met

:18:01. > :18:05.of this wonderful town. It hs a great game for me and Bourndmouth.

:18:06. > :18:09.And ceremony and remembrancd and a little hope the Children's Festival

:18:10. > :18:18.won't be forgotten again. It was a secret message written by a

:18:19. > :18:23.woman licking for love hidddn in a Scottish kilt. It was destined for a

:18:24. > :18:28.soldier serving in the London Scottish regiment `` regiment but it

:18:29. > :18:32.was never worn and the note was found by an academic at Southampton

:18:33. > :18:39.University. For a kilt made almost 100 xears ago

:18:40. > :18:44.it is in remarkable good condition. It has been handed down through

:18:45. > :18:49.generations of one family. But the secret note was only discovdred when

:18:50. > :18:55.temporary stitching used to hold the plates together was undone. I was

:18:56. > :18:59.amazed, especially because ht had been written by somebody who was

:19:00. > :19:05.probably just an ordinary seamstress. When we read it we were

:19:06. > :19:11.completely stunned that she had the gumption to put a note into a kilt

:19:12. > :19:17.really looking for a husband. It says, I hope your kilt will fit you

:19:18. > :19:21.well and in it you will looks swell. If single, drop me a line. H wish

:19:22. > :19:31.you bags of luck and a speedy return. Underneath it is her name. I

:19:32. > :19:37.would love to know who she was. If she has any surviving familx and if

:19:38. > :19:39.she got a reply full. Hundrdds of thousands of kilt were made for

:19:40. > :19:45.Scottish regiments in the Fhrst World War. A label on Helen's kilt

:19:46. > :19:50.shows it was made for a soldier in the London Scottish regiment full.

:19:51. > :19:55.It is amazing and unique to see something that has such a wonderful

:19:56. > :20:00.tied to the wall but to be hn such good condition. The Scottish

:20:01. > :20:04.soldiers in kilts would hardly have raised an eyebrow in the Brhtish

:20:05. > :20:10.Army 100 years ago but they certainly surprised the Gerlans who

:20:11. > :20:19.christened them The Ladies From Hell.

:20:20. > :20:42.Can you help with this storx? Do get in touch.

:20:43. > :20:53.There was success in the swhmming pool for one of our competitors who

:20:54. > :20:56.won his heat to book his pl`ce in tonight's final, while England

:20:57. > :20:58.women's hockey squad ` feattring four players from our region `

:20:59. > :21:01.appeared to bounce back from their World Cup disastdr with

:21:02. > :21:03.a confident performance in their first group match against W`les

:21:04. > :21:13.Here's a round`up of the action so far today.

:21:14. > :21:21.Another major competition, `nother final. Andrew Willis was eighth at

:21:22. > :21:25.the London Olympics and forth at the championships last year. Cotld he

:21:26. > :21:31.win the elusive medal in Gl`sgow? He will have the chance to night after

:21:32. > :21:39.winning his heat. I am happx with that. I will go back now and

:21:40. > :21:47.relaxing comeback focused. @lso readying'sAdam Barrett qualhfied for

:21:48. > :21:50.the butterfly semifinals. England's women were out to prove thex are

:21:51. > :21:53.back on form on the hockey field. They showed some of the flare this

:21:54. > :21:59.morning that has won them previous medals than.

:22:00. > :22:09.Their next match is against Malaysia on Sunday. A fantastic start to the

:22:10. > :22:12.tournament. Far from the prdttiest game of hockey but we did the job

:22:13. > :22:19.and are delighted to come away with three points. We want to win every

:22:20. > :22:22.time and we built good momentum but we had a disappointing World Cup. We

:22:23. > :22:31.want to pick ourselves back up and enjoy it. There was triathlon

:22:32. > :22:33.triumph for Team England. Btt Harris couldn't speak the mighty Bramley

:22:34. > :22:40.Barras `` brothers. Meanwhile, a Berkshire schoolgirl

:22:41. > :22:45.has won the heptathlon titld at the world junior athletics championships

:22:46. > :22:48.in Oregon in the United States. Morgan Lake, who attends

:22:49. > :22:50.Wellington College in Crowthorne, produced a string of person`l best
