:00:08. > :00:08.Good evening. BBC Two, but now on BBC One, it s

:00:09. > :00:10.A flypast has been held as the RAF Benson said goodbye to

:00:11. > :00:16.The aircraft is being handed over to the Royal Navy,

:00:17. > :00:21.Up to 1,000 personnel will leave the base in the next two ye`rs.

:00:22. > :00:33.Here's our Business Correspondent, Alastair Fee.

:00:34. > :00:36.Together with His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, thex came

:00:37. > :00:42.RAF Benson has two Merlin Squadrons.

:00:43. > :00:45.Today saw 78 Squadron disbanded and handed to the newly formed 846 Naval

:00:46. > :00:59.Air Squadron, part of the Commando Helicopter Force of the Roy`l Navy.

:01:00. > :01:05.We have known this day is coming for some time, but it is a celebration

:01:06. > :01:11.of the history of the squadron. It is sad to see it go, but to hand it

:01:12. > :01:17.over to such a bunch of fridnds is a relief. It was announced thdy would

:01:18. > :01:22.cease to be an RAF asset and moved over to the Navy as part of a

:01:23. > :01:26.wide`ranging series of cuts. In order to complete that move, all

:01:27. > :01:33.these aircraft will require a Wii fit so their blades can fold and fit

:01:34. > :01:37.on shifts. The marlins have seen plenty of action in recent xears.

:01:38. > :01:41.They helped bring troops hole from Iraq in 2008, but their most

:01:42. > :01:45.important role came later, with ground troops vulnerable in

:01:46. > :01:50.Afghanistan, RAF Benson's mdrlins were called in to help out. Now a

:01:51. > :02:00.new chapter. For those on b`sic has served with the merlins, thhs marks

:02:01. > :02:04.a crossroads. I have served with 78 Squadron, I have done five tours out

:02:05. > :02:09.to Afghanistan. It is a gre`t aircraft to fly. There will be a lot

:02:10. > :02:13.of change. People are heading in lots of different directions. For

:02:14. > :02:17.me, it is an opportunity to do something different. Over the next

:02:18. > :02:19.two years, RAF Benson will lose hundreds of people. Until the

:02:20. > :02:23.government confirms who will be coming to replace the merlins, the

:02:24. > :02:25.skies will be quieter, and so will the villages and towns of

:02:26. > :02:29.Oxfordshire. Concerns have been raised that dirty

:02:30. > :02:32.flood water and rotting food left in homes flooded

:02:33. > :02:35.by a burst water main in Oxford last It was one

:02:36. > :02:39.of the points put to Thames Water at a heated drop`in session for those

:02:40. > :02:41.affected on Normandy Crescent. A week ago a burst water mahn

:02:42. > :02:46.devastated more than 20 homds This was

:02:47. > :02:50.the first chance many had h`d to speak to Thames Water directly,

:02:51. > :03:05.and emotions were running hhgh. I want to do quite regular checks

:03:06. > :03:07.are not happening on these pipe works. There is a duty of c`re and

:03:08. > :03:08.we have been failed. The flood water may have gone, but

:03:09. > :03:23.there's concern nothing's bden done The water has been there, there is

:03:24. > :03:24.food rotting, the stench is horrendous. It then becomes a public

:03:25. > :03:26.health issue. The Lockhart family is

:03:27. > :03:28.among 75 people who've been put up in hotels temporarily, but could be

:03:29. > :03:36.out of their homes for many months. The children are getting stressed.

:03:37. > :03:46.She is not eating well. Thames Water says

:03:47. > :03:48.a forensic investigation's tnderway to identify what caused

:03:49. > :03:51.the pipe to fail and says it's trying to address individual issues

:03:52. > :03:58.as quickly as possible. A new road, designed to easd

:03:59. > :04:01.congestion in part of Aylesbury has opened to traffic seven years

:04:02. > :04:03.after work on it first started. The road has cost ?11 million,

:04:04. > :04:06.but it hasn't been paid Instead, housing developers

:04:07. > :04:10.have footed the bill. It's been built

:04:11. > :04:12.between the new Buckingham Park These roads take the bulk of traffic

:04:13. > :04:23.wanting to pass through the town. It's understandable then th`t

:04:24. > :04:25.they've been known to backup. Whether it will cut through

:04:26. > :04:40.the queues will only be known once This junction has been a notorious

:04:41. > :04:47.problem junction four years. This is where the main Alpha 41 that passes

:04:48. > :04:51.through the heart of Aylesbtry joined the road from Buckingham

:04:52. > :04:55.This new link road is designed to reduce the pressure here. This road

:04:56. > :05:01.is open. Money that local

:05:02. > :05:08.authorities don't have. So it's the housing builders

:05:09. > :05:10.who've had to pay. The road has taken seven

:05:11. > :05:12.years to complete. From when work started at Btckingham

:05:13. > :05:16.Park, to the north of Aylesbury to now that work at Berryfidlds to

:05:17. > :05:22.the west is at an advanced stage. There are growing calls to hurry

:05:23. > :05:24.through a similar scheme to Thousands

:05:25. > :05:28.of homes are planned there too. Developers will need to help

:05:29. > :05:43.meet the cost, meaning any I urge the county council to

:05:44. > :05:46.prioritise the completion of an Eastern relief road, and thdn go on

:05:47. > :05:50.to see if they can deliver the complete bypass that the residents

:05:51. > :05:52.of Aylesbury and the surrounding areas are crying out for.

:05:53. > :05:54.So, development and infrastructure, a difficult balance it seems to

:05:55. > :06:02.It's the last day for people affected by HS2 to have

:06:03. > :06:04.their say over compensation for the planned High Speed railway line

:06:05. > :06:07.Campaign groups claim more than 170,000 homes will be affected

:06:08. > :06:09.by the route and only 3,000 are likely to get compensation.

:06:10. > :06:12.If approved, work will start in 2017.

:06:13. > :06:22.The deadline for comments is just before midnight.

:06:23. > :06:24.Bright green binbags, designed to blend in with hedges, have been

:06:25. > :06:29.The sacks have a leaf pattern on them.

:06:30. > :06:33.They were out for collection on the hedge`free Cornmarket Street.

:06:34. > :06:36.Their appearance is likely to be a one`off as there are no plans to

:06:37. > :06:39.replace the traditional rubbish sacks the moment.

:06:40. > :06:56.Good evening. A lot of low cloud, mist and fog during the night, and

:06:57. > :06:59.outbreaks of patchy light r`in and drizzle. There will be some dry

:07:00. > :07:05.periods as well with temper`tures falling to 15 Celsius. A dalp and

:07:06. > :07:11.dreary start to tomorrow, btt things will improve. That cloud will

:07:12. > :07:15.clear, as will those channels, and we will see some sunny spells

:07:16. > :07:18.developed. The risk of a shower during the afternoon, with

:07:19. > :07:22.temperatures reaching 20 Celsius. The winds are fairly light. Looking

:07:23. > :07:28.ahead, there will be a lot of cloud first thing each day. Writer sunny

:07:29. > :07:32.spells will develop. The risk of a shower on Thursday and Wedndsday. A

:07:33. > :07:32.dry day on Friday. Next, thd National

:07:33. > :07:36.breezy through Saturday afternoon with a change in the temperature.

:07:37. > :07:41.More information on that now with Alex.

:07:42. > :07:49.Good evening. It's farewell fair weather September. A very warm

:07:50. > :07:55.month. Incredibly dry. Why so? All to do with the jet stream. Mostly to

:07:56. > :08:00.the north and the fast-moving ribbon of the air has been searing the

:08:01. > :08:04.pressures from the UK. If you are after more boisterous autumn

:08:05. > :08:05.whether, it need it to drive southwards and
