:00:36. > :00:45.crown. Wootton Bassett struggles to afford its royal status. If they

:00:55. > :00:57.Margaret and on her. - macro end on And they've got it cracked, a West

:00:57. > :01:00.Country school's recipe for the perfect egg.

:01:00. > :01:03.Good evening. A new power has been brought in tonight to deal with

:01:03. > :01:05.gang violence in Gloucester. The injunction means members aren't

:01:05. > :01:08.allowed to congregate, make gangster rap videos or do anything

:01:08. > :01:11.that promotes gang membership. It is only the second time such an

:01:11. > :01:17.order has been issued outside London. The first time was in

:01:17. > :01:23.Bristol. But what does it mean? John Maguire was in court. This is

:01:23. > :01:33.a 19th aged macro man and an aspiring musician forced up but he

:01:33. > :01:37.

:01:37. > :01:47.The injunctions mean that their remarks are think that these

:01:47. > :02:00.

:02:00. > :02:09.individuals cannot do. Cannot display the name of their gang.

:02:09. > :02:13.police say they are in a game that steals from people. I end my music

:02:14. > :02:23.videos and an absurd that I was going to kill a person. Do you know

:02:24. > :02:27.

:02:27. > :02:37.what an increase Mac I used to drive around our own bikes and now

:02:37. > :02:43.I am just at college. I am not a gang member at Arles. Sam, who work

:02:43. > :02:51.to keep young people out of trouble, say they are just a gimmick. I do

:02:51. > :02:57.not think that this will make a difference. It just moves the

:02:57. > :03:03.problem from one area to be at their. If you use an area ban, for

:03:03. > :03:13.example, you might stop somebody seeing people for stabbing his aid

:03:13. > :03:13.

:03:13. > :03:19.matter out how you have forced it. The Type Of behave rare that the

:03:19. > :03:24.gang injunction is designed to step out. The council says it brought

:03:24. > :03:29.the case today, on May the Perret in the country to do so, after

:03:29. > :03:37.local residents, compelled by fear end despair, demanded action.

:03:37. > :03:40.Action to put paid sparked - match The owners of a care home in

:03:40. > :03:43.Somerset have been given a formal warning after failing to make

:03:43. > :03:45.improvements to standards of care. Laurel Court in Nailsea was given a

:03:45. > :03:49.second inspection by the Care Quality Commission, and inspectors

:03:49. > :03:56.found their requirements had still not been met. Care plans had not

:03:56. > :03:59.been updated, risk assessments and management plans were out of date.

:03:59. > :04:01.Owners Southern Cross say action is being taken to make the

:04:01. > :04:04.improvements. A couple from South Gloucestershire

:04:04. > :04:08.say their four-year-old son will miss out on a normal life because

:04:08. > :04:10.the NHS won't pay for an operation that could help him walk. Finley

:04:10. > :04:13.Jones from Warmley has cerebral palsy. A surgeon from Frenchay

:04:13. > :04:15.hospital has recommended he have the radical surgery but his

:04:15. > :04:25.parents' appeal for funding has been turned down. Here's our Health

:04:25. > :04:27.

:04:27. > :04:32.Finley Jones has only just learnt how to take a few steps with this

:04:32. > :04:36.special frame. But his parents believe he could walk unaided if he

:04:36. > :04:39.is given pioneering surgery known as Sellective Dorsal Rhizotomy. The

:04:39. > :04:49.procedure involves testing which of his spinal nerves are causing the

:04:49. > :04:59.

:05:00. > :05:09.stiffness in his legs, and then cutting their roots. It will let

:05:09. > :05:12.him sleep better and can enjoy school. He could live a more

:05:12. > :05:14.fulfilling life. But the 24,000 operation is not routinely funded.

:05:14. > :05:17.South Gloucestershire NHS turned down the Jones' appeal for

:05:17. > :05:27.exceptional funding on the grounds that there are many more patients

:05:27. > :05:53.

:05:53. > :05:56.in the same position. We have been told that he will need surgery. The

:05:56. > :05:58.evidence we've seen is that lots of things are no longer needed after

:05:58. > :06:01.the surgery. Since the UK's first SDR operation

:06:01. > :06:04.at this hospital in May funding has been agreed for 12 young patients.

:06:04. > :06:07.But around the same number of patients have found their PCT has

:06:07. > :06:10.turned down their appeal for special funding. In a statement the

:06:10. > :06:13.PCT says it is working with surrounding commissioners to try to

:06:13. > :06:16.set up a regional centre for this operation here at Frenchay. But for

:06:16. > :06:18.that to happen regional funding would have to be agreed.

:06:18. > :06:21.Matthew Hill is here now. It's obviously very upsetting for the

:06:21. > :06:31.family but I suppose there's just not enough money for every

:06:31. > :06:41.

:06:41. > :06:51.operation or treatment, is there? It is expensive. The operation

:06:51. > :06:54.

:06:54. > :06:57.would revolutionise his life. They feel they will save money if he

:06:57. > :07:00.doesn't need other operations. is a new procedure with new

:07:00. > :07:10.treatments coming all the time. How does the NHS decide which should be

:07:10. > :07:29.

:07:29. > :07:31.funded? It will have to go into the next financial year. A tiny

:07:31. > :07:34.fraction of the budget is for new treatements.

:07:34. > :07:37.In less than two weeks' time, the Wiltshire town of Wootton Bassett

:07:37. > :07:40.will become known as Royal Wootton Bassett. A special naming ceremony

:07:40. > :07:43.is being planned in celebration. But the town is worried about the

:07:43. > :07:46.price of it all. The cost of crowd control, big screens and park and

:07:46. > :07:49.rides will amount to 65,000. And now there's an appeal for help.

:07:49. > :07:59.Nearly 350 fallen soldiers passed through this famous high street

:07:59. > :08:04.

:08:04. > :08:06.when Wootton Bassett was the focus of the repatriations. The turnout

:08:06. > :08:09.from the very beginning was unwavering. It was that dedication

:08:09. > :08:12.that will see the town granted Royal status, the first in more

:08:12. > :08:16.than a century. An honour this town never expected but one that is

:08:16. > :08:23.coming at a cost. We have to put on car-parking for thousands of cars

:08:23. > :08:30.and some buzzers to do the right and they cost money. - Mackrell

:08:30. > :08:33.The ceremony on October 16th will see thousands of people come here

:08:33. > :08:36.to witness the Princess Royal hand over the letters of patent to the

:08:36. > :08:39.town, but that means more organisation than was ever seen at

:08:39. > :08:41.a repatriation The bill, around 65,000, has to come from the town

:08:41. > :08:44.council. Already the local MP has appealed for people across the

:08:45. > :08:47.country to donate to the fund, a call repeated here today. The Queen

:08:47. > :08:50.should pay for it. People are struggling to make ends meet.

:08:50. > :09:00.do-nothing we should pay at Arles. Why bestow end on a minute and then

:09:00. > :09:01.

:09:01. > :09:04.tell you that you have to pay for it. It is a royal thing after.

:09:04. > :09:06.there is a feeling that, after the announcement of Royal status came

:09:06. > :09:09.from David Cameron then his government should pay. But money

:09:09. > :09:12.issues aside, there is still great pride in this town that its humble

:09:12. > :09:15.but unwavering respect over the years has will leave this place

:09:15. > :09:18.with an enduring legacy. We were doing this to show respect for what

:09:18. > :09:26.the solders had done and we did not expect to be rewarded for what we

:09:26. > :09:36.had done. There is a natural thing we should do. Well come to Wootton

:09:36. > :09:43.

:09:44. > :09:53.Bassett at snack shortly to become A moment for those who gave up so

:09:54. > :09:55.

:09:55. > :09:57.much about time to feel pride in And we will be at the ceremony as

:09:57. > :10:00.well. Shares in the Cheltenham-based

:10:00. > :10:02.clothing firm Supergroup have fallen by a quarter. It's after the

:10:02. > :10:04.company, which is behind the Superdry brand, acknowledged

:10:04. > :10:07.problems linked to an upgrade at their Gloucester warehouse. It's

:10:07. > :10:10.meant less stock and fewer size choices have been reaching UK

:10:10. > :10:20.stores. The company says it will hit profits by around 6 million to

:10:20. > :10:20.

:10:20. > :10:24.9 million. A car race started in the Cotswolds

:10:24. > :10:27.today, but the aim isn't to go fast, but to be frugal with fuel. The

:10:27. > :10:30.teams will drive for two days trying to make the most of every

:10:30. > :10:40.drop in their tanks. The AA warned only this morning about the high

:10:40. > :10:43.

:10:43. > :10:50.cost of fuel. Dickon Hooper is at the Cotswold Water Park for us now.

:10:50. > :10:53.This may look like an ordinary car park by its this morning it was

:10:54. > :10:59.transformed it into the starting grid for this and usual marriage

:10:59. > :11:03.finable stab you can see the type of cars and most at Danny Wedd

:11:03. > :11:10.expect to drive across the West Country are forced up it is not a

:11:11. > :11:20.spent or stub it is to get the most out a beating out petrol forced up

:11:20. > :11:28.as prices continued to rise, there could be a lesson for all of us

:11:28. > :11:31.both up false up Some drivers went to great lengths

:11:31. > :11:34.this morning to save fuel before they had even set off on their 400

:11:34. > :11:37.mile marathon across the west. These motorists want to get the

:11:37. > :11:47.best mileage per gallon out of their vehicles and save money.

:11:47. > :11:48.

:11:48. > :11:52.There are a few taking part for Wise words. The AA today warned the

:11:52. > :12:00.price at the pump has risen by 20p a litre in the last year alone and

:12:00. > :12:05.it is affecting its members. 76 % of people are cutting back on

:12:05. > :12:09.journeys or household expenditure, less money going to the shops.

:12:10. > :12:12.are taking more drastic measures. Car club membership is on the rise,

:12:12. > :12:22.doubling in Bristol since the credit crunch, as some give up

:12:22. > :12:25.

:12:25. > :12:33.their cars completely like mother of three Harriet. The it has been a

:12:33. > :12:38.liberating experience. It wears a real milestone. We can allow

:12:38. > :12:44.ourselves and not to have the cast and running a car and petrol prices

:12:44. > :12:48.have risen so much over the last five years. We have no hassle over

:12:48. > :12:53.servicing and we have the convenience at having it very close

:12:53. > :12:56.to our house and no parking problems. Maybe more of us will

:12:56. > :13:02.have follow her lead, or at the very least consider adopting some

:13:02. > :13:09.of these drivers' habits in the long term. The organiser other does

:13:09. > :13:18.Mary Bryant joins me now. Kenya given the deal is a few tips End

:13:18. > :13:25.hence about how they can save money and drive us back I am sorry we

:13:25. > :13:30.will never get to hear forced up let's see if we can go back to him.

:13:31. > :13:37.There are three key areas to brokers are forced up reading the

:13:37. > :13:47.road as far as you can force up changed into a higher gear as soon

:13:47. > :13:48.

:13:48. > :13:53.People may say it is therefore a mirror plant but people lead a very

:13:53. > :14:01.busy lives and is it practical to drive it like you had been driving

:14:01. > :14:06.today in the real world. The way some are these guys have been

:14:06. > :14:12.driving, probably not. These are the kinds of things that anyone

:14:12. > :14:21.could do during the week. Harsh braking and acceleration is not fun

:14:21. > :14:25.for a big guy and the passenger seat. What do you think about the

:14:25. > :14:31.80 mile per hour limit being imposed on the motorways can snap

:14:31. > :14:37.people have to look at what they think is a safe and comfortable

:14:37. > :14:41.speed. I have no problem with that at are forced up the race continues

:14:41. > :14:46.tomorrow and the winner is the present you get the most out

:14:46. > :14:56.aberrant take 4th up a few hints for you for your drive home

:14:56. > :15:08.

:15:08. > :15:10.tomorrow night. The Wiltshire adventurer David

:15:10. > :15:13.Hempleman-Adams has won a top ballooning race in the United

:15:13. > :15:16.States. He and his co-pilot Jon Mason flew nearly 1,000 miles in

:15:16. > :15:20.the America's Challenge Gas Balloon Race. And they believe they have

:15:20. > :15:23.set a new race record for the amount of time spent in the air, 71

:15:23. > :15:26.hours and 32 minutes. It's the first time Hempleman-Adams has won

:15:26. > :15:36.this event. Competitors from the West are taking part in a huge

:15:36. > :15:42.

:15:42. > :15:44.four-day competition in London. It's a little like the Olympics but

:15:44. > :15:46.instead of competing in sports, they're judged on their trade and

:15:46. > :15:49.craft skills, everything from installing household electrics to

:15:49. > :15:56.mending a car, as Jules Hyam reports. A people are competing in

:15:56. > :16:01.pretty much any vocational skill you can think I have forced up all

:16:01. > :16:06.sorts at different skills going on. It is are all about achieving

:16:06. > :16:12.excellence, so no surprise that there are no competitors from the

:16:12. > :16:16.West representing the UK for stab at this and then has 22 hours to

:16:16. > :16:20.install a household electrical system and he is up against

:16:20. > :16:26.electricians from pretty other countries bought up it is 20 hours

:16:26. > :16:33.a competing and he is working to a design. This is how he will score

:16:33. > :16:38.marks. The judges will change their mind. He may find that the plans he

:16:38. > :16:47.is working to make change all Abbey's seven. We will leave him to

:16:47. > :16:53.concentrate and tucked in his bath. Be scaled that he is doing, he has

:16:53. > :16:58.had to learn those in about 12 months. We have seemed a raised in

:16:58. > :17:04.his enthusiasm and his skills and communicating with average rates

:17:04. > :17:10.forced up Against Our other employers a decade and it is there

:17:10. > :17:20.are around four stub Chris has been working day and night and he will

:17:20. > :17:22.

:17:22. > :17:25.find out how well he matters up in four days. To sport now and

:17:25. > :17:28.Somerset's cricketers are through to the semi-finals of the Champions

:17:28. > :17:34.Twenty20 League in India. Geoff Twentyman is here with a special

:17:34. > :17:37.guest. Geoff this is very exciting for Somerset? Thrilling stuff from

:17:37. > :17:44.Banaglore, exactly why we all love T20 cricket. Somerset beat The

:17:44. > :17:46.South African side the Warriors by 12 runs. I will talk with Steve

:17:46. > :17:52.Snell who played a considerable part in Somerset's hitherto success

:17:52. > :17:55.in the sub continent in a moment. First the details of the game.

:17:55. > :17:58.Somerset won the toss, elected to bat and made 146 for four off their

:17:58. > :18:00.20 overs. Craig Kieswetter top scored with 56 not out including

:18:00. > :18:05.some typical big hitting from the England international. Somerset

:18:05. > :18:08.then restricted The Warriors to 134 for 8. Murali Kartik, Steve Kirby

:18:08. > :18:18.and Alfonso Thomas each took two wickets to set up a semi-final with

:18:18. > :18:27.either The Mumbai Indians or New South Wales. Steve Snell joins me,

:18:27. > :18:33.who played in India for Somerset. It has been an extraordinary sum or

:18:33. > :18:38.four year. To go behind the microphone in front of 40,000 fans,

:18:38. > :18:45.watching the guys get through to the semi-final is brilliant to see.

:18:45. > :18:49.House and have incurred a wing. Summers that will match in their

:18:49. > :18:57.match at a 10th or stab people are studying to tug about going on the

:18:57. > :19:02.way. You were men are be matched with those fluorescent gloves on.

:19:02. > :19:07.It came from nowhere fast up we were out and the middle and I was

:19:07. > :19:11.presented with a cheque from men at the match and that was I'll at a

:19:11. > :19:17.Blair. I would love to play it more poor summers that if anyone would

:19:17. > :19:21.give me a chance for stab I am willing to keep going. I am not

:19:21. > :19:27.ready to go from behind the microphone just yet cost up the

:19:27. > :19:36.Indians are also passionate about cricket and they want to have their

:19:36. > :19:42.photographs taken with everyone. Bowling the maiden over should be

:19:42. > :19:47.said some were forced up exciting times. I am getting married at the

:19:47. > :19:57.end of October. There is Eilat to put in to bat and it is exciting

:19:57. > :20:00.

:20:00. > :20:02.times for me. See you back into first-class cricket. In football

:20:02. > :20:04.Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town are both through to the southern

:20:04. > :20:08.area quarter-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Jake

:20:08. > :20:10.Jervis was the Swindon hero as he scored both goals in the two-one

:20:10. > :20:13.win at Exeter. Cheltenham also enjoyed an away victory. Darryl

:20:13. > :20:16.Duffy scored twice as they won three-one at Wycombe Wanderers.

:20:16. > :20:18.Brian Smikle was also on target at Adams Park. Yeovil gave Bournemouth

:20:18. > :20:28.a three-nil start and despite second half goals from Steve McLean

:20:28. > :20:31.and Max Ehmer they lost three-two. And just time to mention that

:20:31. > :20:39.Bristol Academy are out of the Womens Champions League. They lost

:20:39. > :20:42.4-2 against Energiya Vorenezh in Russia this afternoon. Annie

:20:42. > :20:52.Hetherson and Ellie Curzon scored for the Academy but they lost the

:20:52. > :20:52.

:20:52. > :20:56.tie overall by five goals to three. Now to a cracking story about the

:20:56. > :21:02.best way to boil an egg. We all think our own way is the right way.

:21:02. > :21:04.But now, it seems, there's a definitive answer. It's all thanks

:21:04. > :21:07.to experiments carried out by some schoolgirls from Dorset with a

:21:07. > :21:17.little help from the Royal College of Chemistry. Louise Hubball has

:21:17. > :21:24.been to find out how it's done. Timing is everything. It is the

:21:24. > :21:28.difference between triumph and disaster. But this group have kids

:21:28. > :21:33.have taken to the lab to find the perfect formula and they think they

:21:33. > :21:38.have cracked it. The big question is, how long does it have to boil

:21:38. > :21:43.for a quick snack to be after mum boiling time is six minutes.

:21:43. > :21:50.many does did it take you to find that out because Mac were had a

:21:50. > :21:57.much a trial and error. You have been mugging at soldiers. What did

:21:57. > :22:05.you find. We found that they were stronger when you applied but

:22:05. > :22:09.reports that now we have to wait Brid to boil. The members at the

:22:09. > :22:17.Royal Academy Of chemistry have been impressed by the findings.

:22:17. > :22:22.Here is the science bit. Six minutes is enough time to have a

:22:22. > :22:27.reaction happening with the protein of the white. The optimum boiling

:22:27. > :22:37.time is six minutes. The optimum testing time is two and a half

:22:37. > :22:39.

:22:39. > :22:49.minutes. The big question is, what does it taste like. Perfect for

:22:49. > :23:01.

:23:01. > :23:11.It is gorgeous. It is a little bit hard for me but I will still eat it.

:23:11. > :23:17.

:23:17. > :23:24.I like it more money than that. - Shall we get a much at the weather

:23:24. > :23:32.occurs smack it is periodically is bidding with brain and it is a

:23:32. > :23:37.similar story elsewhere for stamp it is a question of how heavy rain

:23:37. > :23:42.it tends to be forced up it is essentially going to be one up

:23:42. > :23:49.sunny spells which will be more frequent brothers but it will be a

:23:50. > :23:55.windy day. Taking him luck, we can see a cold and this evening. That

:23:55. > :24:05.will induce rain across many districts. It will be windy

:24:05. > :24:07.

:24:07. > :24:17.tomorrow with bread and showers. Friday will have less in the way of

:24:17. > :24:19.
