:00:09. > :00:13.Hello and welcome to BBC Points West.

:00:13. > :00:17.In the headlines tonight: Concerns about yet another care

:00:17. > :00:22.home. As an investigation begins, families claim they removed their

:00:22. > :00:25.loved ones worried about treatment. Also tonight:

:00:25. > :00:33.It's been like a prison sentence, the brother of Kate Prout whose

:00:33. > :00:36.buried remains were found yesterday speaks about their ordeal.

:00:36. > :00:42.Repealing the hunting ban, a local hunt master says they'd lose if

:00:42. > :00:44.Parliament voted on it now. And the Bristol-based charity

:00:44. > :00:54.getting the X Factor, how these vulnerable children will get a

:00:54. > :00:56.

:00:56. > :00:59.Hello. There've been fresh waves of

:00:59. > :01:01.concern tonight about the care of elderly residents at a home in

:01:01. > :01:04.South Gloucestershire and the place is now officially under

:01:04. > :01:07.investigation. We've been contacted by more relatives of people who

:01:08. > :01:10.lived at Oaktree House Care Home in Yate, all of them told us they

:01:11. > :01:20.found standards of care were poor, and any concerns they raised were

:01:20. > :01:24.ignored. At the home itself they say staff

:01:24. > :01:27.were praised in a recent report and they're happy to cooperate with the

:01:27. > :01:33.investigation. Here's James Hassam. They trusted others to look after

:01:33. > :01:36.their loved ones. But they claim they were let down. Yvonne

:01:36. > :01:40.Roebuck's father Martin spent six months at the Oaktree House Care

:01:41. > :01:50.Home. She says she knew him as a proud man who always took care of

:01:50. > :01:55.himself. Used to upset me terribly when I used to going and he hadn't

:01:55. > :02:01.been shaved for two days, just looking very sad and lonely, in a

:02:01. > :02:05.room that was no bigger than a postage stamp. And I felt I let my

:02:05. > :02:08.dad down. Yvonne decided to contact the BBC after learning that Oaktree

:02:08. > :02:10.House is under investigation. This was the letter sent to families of

:02:11. > :02:13.residents this week after concerns were raised with South

:02:13. > :02:18.Gloucestershire Council by a whistleblower regarding care at the

:02:18. > :02:25.home. The new allegations follow minor concerns raised earlier this

:02:25. > :02:31.month as part of a review by the care quality commission. Since then

:02:31. > :02:36.no new patients have been admitted, as a precautionary measure. Yvonne

:02:37. > :02:41.has a folder full of letters. She claims they document the concerns

:02:41. > :02:50.repeatedly raised while her father was at Oaktree House. Concerns that

:02:50. > :02:55.she says fell on deaf ears. That is not good care. Or you get

:02:55. > :03:00.is a sorry, that will not happen again. Them were a lot of people in

:03:00. > :03:05.there that could have relatives, and that is sad -- there were.

:03:05. > :03:14.owners, Four Seasons, say they are working closely with the castle

:03:14. > :03:16.following the anonymous complaint. Earlier this week they say the CQC

:03:16. > :03:19.visited and gave them positive feedback saying they found staff

:03:19. > :03:23.caring and respectful to residents. Tonight Four Seasons said it would

:03:23. > :03:25.be inappropriate for them to speak to us ahead of the outcome of the

:03:25. > :03:34.investigation. The review into the standard of care is expected to

:03:34. > :03:37.last a number of weeks. Police have found drugs valued at

:03:37. > :03:40.more than 1 million in a car on the outskirts of Bristol. A man's

:03:40. > :03:44.been arrested and is in custody after officers stopped a BMW

:03:44. > :03:47.leaving the M5 at the junction for Cribbs Causeway last night. They

:03:47. > :03:57.found 50 kilogrammes of mephedrone in it which was re-classified as a

:03:57. > :03:57.

:03:57. > :04:00.Class B illegal substance last year. Within the last hour human remains

:04:00. > :04:06.found at Redmarley in Gloucestershire have been confirmed

:04:06. > :04:10.as those of the murdered farmer's wife, Kate Prout. A pathologist

:04:10. > :04:17.confirmed her identity via dental records. Today her family told us

:04:17. > :04:21.the last four years have felt like a prison sentence.

:04:21. > :04:23.Kate's Prout's family describe the last week as surreal, traumatic. It

:04:24. > :04:31.of course started with the news that Adrian Prout had finally

:04:32. > :04:38.confessed. We were very shocked at first. And we weren't quite certain

:04:38. > :04:41.whether it was the truth or not. Devastated, full of a nation again.

:04:41. > :04:46.The whole thing water began. We have never forgotten her, but we

:04:46. > :04:49.never thought we would actually get to the end, when we would

:04:49. > :04:53.eventually find her. When we got this news we were totally

:04:53. > :04:58.devastated. As the search started to recover Kate's remains,

:04:58. > :05:03.difficult memories came flooding back. Knowing that maybe she would

:05:03. > :05:06.be found, in a way, it has been just as bad as going through the

:05:06. > :05:10.trial, and although we haven't had to go to court every day, the

:05:10. > :05:16.machine you go through at all the feelings you go through, and the

:05:16. > :05:20.anxiety -- the emotion you go through. It ties you out. It has

:05:20. > :05:23.been really just as dramatic. driving force now is the future and

:05:23. > :05:29.Kate's funeral but it's tangible just how harrowing the past four

:05:29. > :05:35.years have been. We have been like prisoners. It has been like a

:05:35. > :05:40.prison sentence for S, having this over our heads -- for us. Now that

:05:40. > :05:44.relief has come. We will never forget her. This has been such a

:05:44. > :05:48.traumatic event in our lives. Hopefully, because we can get her

:05:48. > :05:54.back and say goodbye properly, it will just close the book. She will

:05:54. > :06:00.always be with us. But it will be the right conclusion. We have got

:06:00. > :06:05.to the end. If you don't know, you are always wondering, where she? We

:06:05. > :06:09.know now. There is a real sense of relief

:06:09. > :06:14.this case is coming to its conclusion. Her murder has been a

:06:14. > :06:18.dark cloud hanging over the village for the past four years. A cloud

:06:18. > :06:22.that at last starting to lift. At the church where Kate Prout used to

:06:22. > :06:26.help with the flowers prayers have said every day for her and her

:06:26. > :06:29.family. There is a sense of relief. It is something that has just been

:06:29. > :06:38.there, Nat King in the background the whole time. But now at least

:06:38. > :06:41.they can be some closure -- Nadim. -- nagging. As the police operation

:06:41. > :06:44.came to a close in Redmarley today, there was only one thought on

:06:44. > :06:54.everyone's minds. The woman who disappeared but has now been found.

:06:54. > :06:58.

:06:58. > :07:05.You're watching BBC Points West. Still to come: Find out why this

:07:05. > :07:08.man is a true unsung sporting hero. Apart from some light overnight

:07:08. > :07:15.rain on Saturday and Sunday the weekend is looking dry. Quite windy

:07:16. > :07:18.on Saturday, less so on Sunday, I A man from Weston-super-Mare who

:07:19. > :07:23.was part of a criminal gang that produced counterfeit vodka has been

:07:23. > :07:26.jailed today. Michael Matthews, along with six other men from

:07:26. > :07:32.Nottingham, was arrested during raids by Revenue and Customs in

:07:32. > :07:36.2009. Lizzie Way has this report. Miles away from Weston-super-Mare,

:07:36. > :07:40.miles away from anywhere. This was the perfect spot to carry out

:07:40. > :07:48.organised crime. So secluded, customs officers used a helicopter

:07:48. > :07:52.to track them down. This was a highly sophisticated operation. A

:07:52. > :07:58.major breakthrough for us at the end of a surveillance operation.

:07:58. > :08:01.The criminals involved here were making an awful lot of money.

:08:01. > :08:04.100 officers raided the rented farm unit they found a makeshift factory

:08:04. > :08:06.producing potentially lethal illicit vodka on a massive scale.

:08:06. > :08:16.They seized enough industrial alcohol, to manufacture 100,000

:08:16. > :08:16.

:08:16. > :08:19.litres of fake vodka. The problem with fake vodka is that it contains

:08:19. > :08:22.industrial and not agricultural alcohol. Things you would find in

:08:22. > :08:27.paint strippers, bleach and cleaning fluids. In excessive

:08:27. > :08:33.quantities these can cause nausea, dizziness, and even blindness in

:08:33. > :08:39.extreme crisis -- extreme cases. Kevin Eddishaw, was the mastermind

:08:39. > :08:43.together with Voicheck Herbst from Poland. Michael Matthews lived here

:08:43. > :08:47.on Standley grave in Weston-super- Mare. He was a prince and it was

:08:47. > :08:50.his job to make the counterfeit labels and boxes -- a printer. They

:08:50. > :08:53.were shipped out of the warehouse in Leicestershire. Michael James

:08:53. > :09:03.Matthews was sentenced to 18 months in prison. A plot to make money

:09:03. > :09:06.from selling vodka on the cheap has now cost him an awful lot.

:09:06. > :09:11.Tolls for cars crossing the Severn Bridge are to rise to 6. That's an

:09:11. > :09:15.increase of 30 pence and will come into effect on January the 1st.

:09:15. > :09:20.Other vehicles will also see a rise in price. A spokesman for the

:09:20. > :09:24.Severn River Crossing said it was in line with the Retail Price Index.

:09:24. > :09:27.But campaigners against the tolls have called for a price freeze.

:09:27. > :09:32.Protestors camped out on Bristol's historic College Green say they'll

:09:32. > :09:39.listen to people who disagree with their tactics. Occupy Bristol say

:09:39. > :09:41.they're prepared to discuss the possibility of moving off the land.

:09:41. > :09:50.But they're also building structures on the site and have

:09:50. > :09:55.published a Christmas wish list. Over the past few weeks the camp

:09:55. > :09:59.has grown bigger. It has grown much more organised. There are semi-

:09:59. > :10:04.permanent structures and walkways throughout the site. There is also

:10:04. > :10:08.a suggestion protesters may be prepared to move on. The group is

:10:08. > :10:13.proposing to hold a public meeting to discuss how they could continue

:10:13. > :10:17.their protest without being pampered on College Green. We are

:10:17. > :10:22.aware of an increasingly vocal minority of people who are

:10:22. > :10:27.questioning our tactic here. And so we really wanted to listen to those

:10:27. > :10:32.voices, and just discuss ways in which we can continue to get our

:10:32. > :10:36.message out there and build our movement without camping on College

:10:36. > :10:46.Green. It is really not about this piece of grass, it is a much bigger

:10:46. > :10:49.issue than that. But while some seem in favour of moving on others

:10:49. > :10:52.want to stay put. The group's official spokesman told us that he

:10:52. > :10:55.plans to spend Christmas on the site, and there is an Occupy

:10:55. > :10:58.Bristol Christmas wish list asking for inflatable beds, welly liners

:10:58. > :11:02.and a green power generator. That has been a great bit of publicity

:11:02. > :11:04.for us. We have seen a real increase in donations since that

:11:04. > :11:11.came to national attention. The renewable energy stuff would be

:11:11. > :11:16.good. And of course, warm socks. But not everyone wants them to get

:11:16. > :11:19.so comfortable. Bristolian are increasingly saying we understand

:11:19. > :11:23.what you're saying, we identify, we would like to see change as well

:11:23. > :11:28.but we are not convinced this is the best way -- best way to bring

:11:28. > :11:32.about change. This is taking the form of a permanent encampment with

:11:32. > :11:35.permanent structures, not just tense. On what is public space in

:11:35. > :11:39.the middle of Bristol. This belongs to everybody in the City, it should

:11:39. > :11:43.be enjoyed by everybody in the City and should be taken over by

:11:43. > :11:47.actually quite small number of people who want to use it for their

:11:47. > :11:51.own purposes. It is the tactics rather than the message that are

:11:51. > :11:54.causing debate, but debate is what the protestors were after.

:11:54. > :11:59.Members of hunts across the West have admitted that they see no

:11:59. > :12:02.immediate chance of the Hunting Act being repealed. It was brought in

:12:02. > :12:07.six years ago and the Conservatives have always promised to get rid of

:12:07. > :12:11.it. But we've learned that even pro-hunt politicians are keen to

:12:11. > :12:20.put the debate on ice, as they fear losing the vote now. Clinton Rogers

:12:20. > :12:30.has the story. They banned hunting with hounds in

:12:30. > :12:34.2005. This is the Devon and Somerset Staghounds in 2011. Now to

:12:34. > :12:38.an outsider it may seem that in six years nothing has changed. The

:12:38. > :12:42.hunters will tell you they are working perfectly properly within

:12:42. > :12:47.the exceptions of the new law. For instance, working with two hounds

:12:47. > :12:52.rather than a pack. But those who spend their working lives

:12:52. > :12:57.travelling around monitoring Hunts state -- say that since 2005 there

:12:57. > :13:04.have been many breaches of that and to act across the region, they keep

:13:04. > :13:09.producing video footage to prove their point. These pictures of the

:13:09. > :13:13.Quantocks Hunt did lead to a prosecution but that is rare.

:13:13. > :13:18.Officially every police force will tell you they enforce every law.

:13:18. > :13:23.Privately, senior officers will say they have better things to do. And

:13:23. > :13:26.figures we have obtained would seem to support that stance. Avon and

:13:26. > :13:36.Somerset police have brought just three prosecutions under the

:13:36. > :13:39.hunting at. -- hunting Act. We have our suspicions. The National

:13:39. > :13:43.Wildlife crime Unit have pointed out there have been many complaints

:13:43. > :13:48.about illegal hunting in this area, and yet we still do not see much

:13:48. > :13:53.police activity. We would like to see more in this area, and many

:13:53. > :13:58.others around the country. Politically, they have certainly

:13:58. > :14:02.gone cold on pushing for a repeal of the hunting Act. Something the

:14:02. > :14:06.Conservatives have always promised, but backbenchers are not so sure

:14:06. > :14:11.that a vote now would be a good thing. We haven't got parliamentary

:14:11. > :14:14.time to do that at the moment. The economy and social care and the NHS

:14:14. > :14:18.and help and everything is further up the agenda than hunting and we

:14:18. > :14:23.have got to make priorities. Privately there is also a feeling

:14:23. > :14:28.among hunters that right now this is a fight they would not win.

:14:28. > :14:32.haven't got a Tory government, it is a coalition government. The vote

:14:32. > :14:37.would count -- the band to go wrong for us. Do you think one day you

:14:37. > :14:41.will get a vote and it will be repealed, or is it a lost cause?

:14:41. > :14:45.I didn't believe we would get a vote or repeal I probably wouldn't

:14:45. > :14:51.be standing here today. One thinks it seems certain, it

:14:51. > :14:54.will not be happening any time soon. -- one thing seems certain.

:14:54. > :15:00.And on Sunday's Politics Show, Steve Le Fevre will be speaking

:15:00. > :15:05.with hunter and Conservative MP for North Wiltshire, James Gray. That's

:15:05. > :15:08.on BBC 1 from noon. Now to sport and the new keeper

:15:08. > :15:13.keeping clean sheets at Swindon. And tears of joy as we name the BBC

:15:13. > :15:23.West Sports Unsung Hero. David, it's always a great moment this,

:15:23. > :15:24.

:15:24. > :15:28.isn't it? Every year there are so many worthy candidates. Each an

:15:28. > :15:31.unsung hero, but we had to chose just one. Stay with us to find out

:15:32. > :15:34.who that is. But first to football and a young goalkeeper who's make

:15:35. > :15:37.quite an impression since arriving at Swindon just six weeks ago. He's

:15:38. > :15:41.20-year-old Wes Foderingham and he's only let in one goal in the

:15:41. > :15:51.last six games. Geoff Twentyman went in search of the secret of his

:15:51. > :15:53.

:15:53. > :15:56.I didn't start of his goalkeeper, a study of as a striker but once I

:15:56. > :16:01.went in goal I did not look back. I had a knack for keeping the ball

:16:01. > :16:08.out of the net. It is a very individual position. You are part

:16:08. > :16:12.of the team, but if you make a mistake, you are a neurone. -- you

:16:12. > :16:14.are on the you're alone. Before arriving on loan from

:16:14. > :16:16.Championship side Crystal Palace Wes Foderingham had only

:16:16. > :16:19.experienced non-league football. Six games into his professional

:16:19. > :16:22.career he's making it all look rather easy. To have conceded only

:16:22. > :16:28.one goal in 540 minutes is rather impressive. But he's happy to tip

:16:28. > :16:33.the praise round the post. You are making it look a bit easy, aren't

:16:33. > :16:38.you? The back for help me out quite a lot. Really solid. They have

:16:38. > :16:43.helped me out with the majority. It is down to them as well. Which

:16:43. > :16:49.goalkeepers did UCATT over the years when you grow up -- did you

:16:49. > :16:53.look at? David James was my idol growing up. Simply because of the

:16:53. > :16:57.fact he made a lot of mistakes, obviously, but he comes back from

:16:57. > :17:02.his mistakes, his mental toughness is fantastic. To be a goalkeeper

:17:02. > :17:06.you have got to be mentally strong because it is a very individual

:17:07. > :17:12.position, lowly position. Are you the number one keeper now? I would

:17:12. > :17:20.like to say I am the No. 1 goalkeeper, but I want to continue

:17:20. > :17:25.to play well and keep on the team. Do you set a clean sheet target?

:17:25. > :17:29.I don't personally. I don't know if other keepers do. At his work on my

:17:29. > :17:33.game and improve and try and give good performances.

:17:33. > :17:37.The crossbar is eight feet off the ground, from that to post to that

:17:37. > :17:41.post, eight yards apart. Off to a fantastic start between the posts.

:17:41. > :17:46.Just goes to show, having a good goalkeeper is equally important as

:17:46. > :17:50.having a good striker for top -- a good striker.

:17:50. > :17:53.And tomorrow Wes will be in goal for the home game against Aldershot.

:17:53. > :17:56.All of the weekend fixtures are on the screen now.

:17:56. > :18:00.Bristol City's recent improvement will be fully tested by top of the

:18:00. > :18:04.table Southampton at Ashton Gate. City have won three and drawn one

:18:04. > :18:09.of their last four games. The club are expecting their biggest crowd

:18:09. > :18:12.of the season for the visit of the Championship leaders.

:18:12. > :18:15.And that will please the owner of the club Stephen Lansdown who will

:18:15. > :18:20.be live on the region's football phone-in with Geoff on BBC Radio

:18:20. > :18:24.Bristol from 7 o'clock. In rugby, Bath kick-off in an

:18:24. > :18:27.hour's time away at Worcester. Former England captain Lewis Moody

:18:27. > :18:32.will skipper Bath tonight, while prop Mark Lilley will play at

:18:32. > :18:35.hooker to solve an injury crisis in the front-row. Gloucester have Olly

:18:35. > :18:41.Morgan and Luke Narraway back for their home match with Leicester

:18:41. > :18:44.tomorrow. For the last 40 years Peter

:18:44. > :18:49.Thatcher has run the Bath Judo club. Many thousands of youngsters have

:18:49. > :18:57.benefited over the years. Well now his efforts have been recognised

:18:57. > :19:00.and he has been named the BBC West Sports Unsung Hero for 2011. This

:19:00. > :19:03.is an annual award for people who gives up their time for free so

:19:03. > :19:09.others can enjoy their sport. I went to meet this incredible man at

:19:09. > :19:15.a recent session at the club and present him with the award.

:19:15. > :19:18.So many hours and so many thousands of pupils. Peter Thatcher is known

:19:18. > :19:25.throughout the city for his relentless efforts and boundless

:19:25. > :19:31.enthusiasm. There is a lot of pride, a lot of nice feeling about making

:19:32. > :19:35.other people good. As I were a couple on Saturday morning, tired,

:19:35. > :19:39.my youngest one is saying, we have got to go there, Peter will be

:19:39. > :19:45.there already. He is there half-an- hour before the start, half-an-hour

:19:45. > :19:50.after the finish. He is just constant. Confidence and self-

:19:50. > :19:57.esteem, definitely. And discipline. And hopefully they will carry it

:19:57. > :20:01.through with them into their adult life. 40, 50 kits. He just has to

:20:01. > :20:07.make a noise and you can hear a pin drop. All the parents of thinking,

:20:07. > :20:10.why can't we do that? We have got three at home and he has got 50.

:20:10. > :20:15.He has taught judo for more than 40 years, at least three sessions a

:20:15. > :20:18.week here in Larkhall, and 12 sessions at schools throughout the

:20:18. > :20:22.city. He taught the parents and grandparents of some of the
