:00:19. > :00:24.Of good evening Tilstock welcome to points west. On the move at Honda.
:00:24. > :00:34.A new car and 500 more jobs as the company says things are getting
:00:34. > :00:37.better. And a jail for the illegal clampers who caused misery. The
:00:37. > :00:43.community clubs together to give hundreds of the three Christmas
:00:43. > :00:53.dinners. And I have been popping down Chinese to make sure I can

:00:58. > :01:04.deliver presents. -- Chenies. -- chimneys.
:01:04. > :01:10.Christmas came early in Swindon to date at Honda. There was a bed
:01:10. > :01:20.announcement - a 500 new jobs. The chief executive said that Honda
:01:20. > :01:21.
:01:21. > :01:26.Europe had turned the corner after supply problems earlier this year.
:01:26. > :01:32.Amidst all the razzmatazz of the seeing the first cars of a new
:01:32. > :01:39.generation of models a collective sigh of relief that 500 new staff
:01:39. > :01:47.will be recruited. Absolutely fabulous news for
:01:47. > :01:51.Swindon and all other suppliers. There have been difficult times and
:01:51. > :01:57.people have been despondent but they will take today as a real
:01:57. > :02:03.positive. 3,000 staff currently work on the
:02:03. > :02:10.site and have had a tricky couple of the heels. The plant had to
:02:10. > :02:17.close for months and 2009. Voluntary redundancy was offered to
:02:17. > :02:24.over 1,000 staff. And then the Japanese is tsunami stopped vital
:02:24. > :02:31.supplies getting through to the Swindon plant. In April a two-day
:02:31. > :02:39.week was put in place. We have come out stronger and more
:02:39. > :02:45.unified and are now looking to move forward.
:02:45. > :02:51.Can the economic climate to sustain extra production?
:02:51. > :02:57.It will be tough and it will not get easier across Europe. Most of
:02:57. > :03:06.our exports go to Europe. But there are signs that even if the industry
:03:06. > :03:15.stays flat, this is a good product. It is also good news for many other
:03:15. > :03:23.businesses in the surrounding area. There is a knock-on effect. So it
:03:23. > :03:29.is fabulous news for Swindon and it will give confidence to the town.
:03:29. > :03:35.So hopes for the future rest on production of these cars. 180,000
:03:35. > :03:42.will be produced in this plant at next year. Just for once, reasons
:03:42. > :03:47.to be cheerful in the economic gloom.
:03:47. > :03:51.Young people and Weston Super Mare marched on the town hall today
:03:51. > :03:57.demanding a change to planned council cuts. The local council
:03:57. > :04:01.says it will cut two-thirds of the budget for youth clubs. It claims
:04:01. > :04:08.many are unused. But that was not the view of those on the street
:04:08. > :04:17.today. Without our youth club there is
:04:18. > :04:23.nowhere to go when nobody to talk On a rainy night like this you do
:04:23. > :04:27.not want to be walking about with nothing to do.
:04:27. > :04:37.We are here to show to the council was what the youth service means to
:04:37. > :04:42.
:04:42. > :04:48.It will have an impact on people. They are becoming upset. It will
:04:48. > :04:57.place the council under more pressure.
:04:57. > :05:01.Soon, that pressure was being applied.
:05:01. > :05:10.You are so worried about the older generation that you are not
:05:10. > :05:15.thinking about the future. The council says that they would
:05:15. > :05:22.like to keep services as they are. -- cannot afford to keep services
:05:22. > :05:30.as they are. That view was not welcomed.
:05:30. > :05:34.Without them, I do not know what people will do.
:05:34. > :05:42.They do not have all the facts but we still must make sure that they
:05:42. > :05:52.get what they need. For these youngsters, braving the
:05:52. > :05:52.
:05:52. > :05:58.rain and taking to the streets, was the only way of getting involved.
:05:58. > :06:04.The Government launched a Positive Youth strategy today. But other
:06:04. > :06:12.places are also slashing budgets. I spoke to a spokesperson from the
:06:12. > :06:18.charity, United Kingdom youth, and asked if that made sense.
:06:18. > :06:22.There are cuts all across the country. We think the Government is
:06:22. > :06:29.correct to push for a Positive Youth agenda but they must take
:06:29. > :06:33.more into consideration during these times.
:06:33. > :06:40.But at the same time as you talk about involving youths in decision-
:06:40. > :06:43.making, their services are being cut.
:06:43. > :06:47.Absolutely. We think it is important that money spent and
:06:47. > :06:55.youth services but if it must be limited then we must place young
:06:55. > :07:02.people at the heart of how it is used.
:07:02. > :07:07.You have done some research and young people are not happy.
:07:07. > :07:16.They find this a depressing time to be young. Not much hope for the
:07:16. > :07:21.future, not many jobs, no prospect of long-term security.
:07:22. > :07:28.Many people watching will say that they have entertainment on a scale
:07:28. > :07:34.that previous generations would not recognise.
:07:34. > :07:44.It is not just about entertainment, but the possibility of looking into
:07:44. > :07:48.their future and seeing prospects. Three men from Somerset who ran an
:07:48. > :07:54.illegal clamping business have been sentenced to a total of 10 years in

:18:52. > :18:56.out and nature and we do not think we have the time to do that. This
:18:56. > :19:01.is an insurance against extinction. It will buy us time to sort out

:21:51. > :21:55.It is, of course, access via chimney. With a quick stop off for
:21:55. > :22:01.mince pies. But for one young boy from the Cotswolds, the chimney

:23:31. > :23:37.Housebuilder set about building Leo a chimney. Will this actually work?
:23:38. > :23:40.They're going to put it to the test, using a crane and Santa.
:23:40. > :23:43.And there he is, demonstrating rather elegantly for young Leo that
:23:43. > :23:48.a nice wide and open chimney will indeed accommodate Santa, with

:25:44. > :25:53.sniffles. I'm sure he said Man Flu. So here's Shefali Oza with this
:25:53. > :25:56.evening's forecast. The key features of the week will
:25:56. > :26:00.be a milder feel to things and some periods of rain. We saw the first
:26:00. > :26:05.band of rain go through today, which give us some heavier
:26:05. > :26:08.outbreaks. We have a series of fronts stacking up on the Atlantic.
:26:08. > :26:12.The winds are going to temporarily deviate to north-westerly tonight,

:27:01. > :27:06.starts to move even further eastwards to Marmite. You can see
:27:06. > :27:10.from the darker colours that they will be quite heavy. That clears
:27:10. > :27:15.off to the North East towards the end of the night, leaving all parts
:27:15. > :27:20.dried by then. Again, it is mild. The Rangers clears the north-
